Treating Dry Frizzy Hair

Hair can be difficult.
Dry, curly hair in a dry environment can feel like an uphill battle. Frizz and flyaways are inevitable.
This is of my hair two-three days after a wash or a Before picture.

Hair Ends Before Treatment

Hair Ends Before
You can see it's frizzy and dry, but still well-loved.
My Dry Hair Routine
I usually only wash my hair two-three times a week, I have dry skin and live in a dry climate so it is practical for me.
After washing my hair, I dry it gently and leave it pretty damp.
SheaMoistureCoconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
aussieMiracle Curls with Coconut Oil Paraben Free Detangling Milk Treatment
A dime-size amount of both these wonder products are massaged through my hair starting at the back ends and moving upward.
Don't apply to your scalp, your hair will be flat and look dirty.
TANGLE TEEZERThe Ultimate Detangler
This is the only brush that I use on wet hair. Fallout and damage are minimal compared to other brushes I have used in the past.
After brushing, I typically braid my hair to ensure that all the product that I used stays on to do its job.
I highly recommend this next brush,
BriogeoVegan Boar Bristle Hair Brush
Every night, my partner brushes my hair out with this brush.
This brush pulls the skin and oils down your hair, away from your scalp which means:
  • Less washing
  • Less product usage
  • Happy hair!
Here is a comparison for the first photo of my hair:
Hair Ends After
1) It is still damp
2) It really wants to be frizzy.
But it isn't.
What Causes Dry Hair?
1. First and worst is excessive washing.
It strips the scalp, skin, and hair of natural oils which can cause damage to the Acid Mantle which leads to dry hair, irritation, inflammation, acne, and others.
2. Next up is Sun damage.
The best defense is wearing a hat and using sunscreen! Your hair can be burnt by the Sun.
3. Incorrect use of products and/or tools
What does this mean?
  • Curling/straightening your hair obsessively or every day
  • Not using heat protective products.
  • Dyeing, dyeing, and redyeing.
  • Bleaching, just don't do it.
  • Not Conditioning.
How to fix it?
Take a messy bun break regularly or find a dependable updo.
  • Stop using heat on your hair, wait until you have a protectant.
  • Stop dyeing your hair, find something less permanent and damaging that works for you.
  • ONLY let a professional Hair Colorist touch your hair with bleach.
  • Condition your hair. It will thank you.
  • Keep a braid in while you sleep if practical.
3. Diet and Exercise
Not eating what your body needs can cause decreases in health for all areas of your body.
Bodily health shows through things such as our hair, skin, nails, and eyes just like it does with weight, height, and girth.
The Connection Between Your Hair and Your HealthThe Connection Between Your Hair and Your Health
Post-Partum Hair Loss/Excessive Hair Shedding
Caused by a huge change in hormones after birth, it is normal.
But if you are uncomfortable try:
  • Switch your Conditioner to a lighter weight.
  • Play with new hairstyles, hair wraps, or hats.
  • Getting a new hair cut, talk to your stylist beforehand so they know what you want to avoid.
  • Reach out to other new moms nearby.
  • Schedule and make time for taking care of yourself, extra stress rarely helps.
Not intended to be a tutorial, just an easy way to learn what works for you.

Glass skin? Uhm YES!
Glass skin? Uhm YES!
This mist is so fun to use. You can use it with makeup or on its own! I tend to use it on bare skin for a natural glowing look. It is a fine mist that moisturizes, nourishes and helps fight damage. It also helps fight irritation and calm the skin. I will be posting a video a little later of me using this before makeup application! Makeup glides on after using this to prep the skin. What’s in it: peach extract Hyaluronic acid Reishi mushroom lotus extract cica ceramides much more! This product has so many awesome ingredients, it’s hard not to love! PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Veil Mist I will give this a 5/5! Pros: can be used to refresh makeup can be used on bare skin hydrating calming gives a wonderful dewy glow smells nice Cons: $30 for a mist is a bit pricey but this mist does so much in return 💞 let me know a mist you love!
Retinol use for beginners from an Esthetician!
Retinol use for beginners from an Esthetician!
If you’re ever wondering how to start using retinol, this is for you! I want to start off by saying that if you’re interested in using retinol you must wear sunscreen daily. If you know you’re never going to wear it PLEASE do not use retinol. With that being said, let’s start off by explaining what retinol is and what it does for you! Retinol is Vitamin A! There are many types of retinol, like retinoids, retinol esters, etc. These are all derivatives of Vitamin A, and are more gentle and less potent versions of pure retinol. Retinol helps speed up our cell turn over rate in our skin. What that means, is that it will help you shed your dead skin cells faster to reveal new skin that’s brighter, smoother and healthier! As we get older, our “cell turnover rate” (CTR) slows down. So we use products like retinol to keep speeding it up so we can stay younger longer! Most people know retinol for treating fine lines and wrinkles, but it’s actually incredible for treating acne and acne scars! This is what I personally use it for. Retinol is strong and acts as an exfoliant so you must be careful with what products you’re using along with it in your regimen. Don’t layer or mix Vit C and retinol as they don’t like each other! Retinol should ONLY be applied at nighttime never in the morning. It makes you photosensitive which is a term to describe sensitivity to the sun. Most people experience some purging in acne, peeling/dryness, redness/irritation, and burning sensations when using a high dose of retinol without buffering it properly. If you use my buffering method properly you will not experience that at all! Now that you understand what you’re putting on your skin, I will explain how to use it! You shouldn’t start retinol by just applying it straight onto your skin without ever using it before. Your skin has to adjust to this new product and should be incorporated gently and slowly. It takes a month for your skin to adjust. You want to buffer your retinol with a gentle moisturizer. Nothing with actives like exfoliants (AHAs or BHAs)! Retinol goes after serums and before moisturizer in your routine! Week 1: use your retinol maximum 2x weekly. Start with one pea size amount of retinol and buffer it with 3 parts of moisturizer! Mix & apply to your skin! Week 2: use your retinol maximum 3x weekly. You’re going to do equal parts retinol and moisturizer. 2 parts retinol and 2 parts moisturizer. Mix & apply to your skin! Week 3: use your retinol maximum 3x weekly. Use 3 parts retinol (equal to a pea size) and 1 part moisturizer. Mix & apply to your skin! Week 4: use your retinol maximum 4x weekly. Apply a pea size amount of retinol directly onto your skin! Then apply your moisturizer directly on top of the retinol! If your skin cant handle retinol alone then stick to the buffering method forever! It will be just as effective as applying it alone! This method will minimize purging and keep your barrier healthy! Hope this helped! ❤️COSRX - Propolis Light Cream

Kylie x Grinch - Worth the Hype?
Kylie x Grinch - Worth the Hype?
Review time!!! I just received the entire Kylie Cosmetics Grinch Collection in the mail this week & I want to break down each product and tell you what I loved and didn’t love. Palette: I’m not one that reaches for tons of colour usually but all the greens in this palette are gorgeous! There’s a mix of matte and shimmer shades, and as usual, the shadows blend like a dream! The good thing about this palette is that there are still some neutral shades rather than just greens. I definitely appreciate the mixture of shades. Shadow Sticks: The Kylie shadow sticks are probably one of my favourite products they have ever released. They are so extremely pigmented, and so easy to apply. They’re basically fool proof, and they set as a shadow. If you haven’t tried them out, I highly suggest you do! In this collection we have a super pretty light shimmery green, light gold, and two rosy toned shadow sticks. Shimmer Eye Glazes: This product is insane. They are a super intensely pigmented eyeshadow that leaves the lids looking wet & dripping in glitter! One swipe of these on the lid is literally all you need for that intense shimmer. If you’re someone who loves super shimmery eyeshadow, I recommend giving the Kylie Cosmetics Shimmer Eye Glazes a try. This collection came with 2 shades: a minty turquoise green and a gold - & I’m obsessed and so happy to be adding these to my collection!! Olive Kyliner: My go to liquid liner is the black Kyliner, so i wasn’t surprised when i loved the easy application and long wearing quality of this olive Kyliner! The liner applies a lighter olive green and dries down to a deeper olive shade. It’s definitely not something I’d reach for everyday, although it’s definitely cute for the holidays or even for a pop of colour to a neutral eye! Blush: I am a huge fan of the Kylie Cosmetics Blushes as opposed to the other blushes I’ve tried from the brand this one had some shimmer in it! It’s quite similar to the NARS “orgasm” blush but with a stronger pink hue. I love the shimmer in it, it adds a pretty glow to the cheeks, perfect for the holidays.. or any day really :P Highlight: Def on theme, but probably my least favourite product in of the collection :( Don’t get me wrong, it’s super blinding and glowy. Although, once I applied to my face it showed off as very green. Personally I don’t want a green glow on my face! But hey, if that’s your vibe that’s cool! Definitely not a highlight I’d reach for everyday. Lip Kit: Obsessed. This red is EVERYTHING! This Lip Kit is one of the best reds I have ever tried. It has a matte finish and is extremely long wearing. I know it’s sold out but a similar shade would be “BOSS” by Kylie. Lipsticks: These shades are gorg for the holidays and I love the shade range! Long wearing & comfortable on the lips. High Glosses: Kylies high glosses are high shine, but very sticky! So if you’re not a fan of sticky glosses you won’t love these. These shades are perf for the holidays and everyday!
Full Face Using Products from Nov Boxy Premium✨
Full Face Using Products from Nov Boxy Premium✨
Hey Cherie Fam! 🍒 I finally received and unboxed my November BoxyCharm premium. For those unfamiliar with Boxycharm, it is a subscription service that gives you 5 full size make up products monthly. The base box comes with 5 items for 25 a month. If you want premium, it is 35. You get 2-3 more items than the base box. I used the star ⭐️ of the show (or rather star of the box) which is Illamasqua artistry palette. This retails for $47 USD. This palette performs well. The mattes were not patchy and the shimmers were impactful. There’s quite a fall out so I recommend doing your eye first before complexion. Then I used DoC single block eyeshadow in the shade Night Sky. This is perfect for a cool toned Smokey eye look. I used this for a pop of blue on my lower lash. #Dose of Colors - Block Party[products]# The realher lip liners come in a duo. I love the packaging because it doesn’t require sharpening. The formula was so pigmented and creamy. I was pretty impressed to be honest. I received a pencil eyeliner from the same brand on my last box and I didn’t like it at all. The Too Faced canary diamond highlighter, Lilly Lashes triple x mascara and Alamar’s gloss are from the pop up. I got them 80% off retail price! I wasn’t a fan of the mascara at first, but after applying it with a lash primer, it was amazing. It lengthened, darkened, and gave me volume. The highlighter was okay. It’s pretty but it’s quite chunky. I’m more of a subtle, glow-from-within type of highlighter. If you’re a fan of blinding highlighters, this is for you. I am a huge fan of the packaging. The lip gloss is ok. I wouldn’t pay full price for it however.
