Cherie is an online community of beauty lovers sharing their stories; whether that's their favorite products, makeup tutorials, or skincare routines. Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you!Beauty and wellness have been slowly merging as one over the years—lately, it feels like you can't talk about one without the other making its way into the conversation. With more and more brands recognizing the importance of mental health and its connection with beauty, holistic approaches to beauty have become more common and more readily received. While it's easy to connect overall health with skincare (skincare and selfcare are almost synonymous these days) why not make the rest of your beauty routine just as good for you? Imagine if your haircare routine was as relaxing as it was healthy for your hair. We'd all be taking our sweet time tending to our tresses the same way we do with our skin! Adachi Sanders, founder of Ankh Haircare, created her haircare line with the intention to create a haircare routine that is holistic and healing. Read on to learn more about her approach and see what team cherie thought about some of Ankh's star products! On Starting Ankh And Her Guiding Philosophies"I started my natural hair journey around 1997, and back then there wasn't a robust market for natural haircare, so I started making my own. I looked to natural ingredients and eventually made essential oils, herbs, and flowers the cornerstone for my hair products because of their healing properties, and more importantly, their aromatherapy value. One of my first products came from the need to have an oil that I could use for both my skin and hair. After some trial and error, I got the formula right and this versatile oil is now sold as Monarch Oil—to be used for the hair, body, or simply aromatherapy."

AnkhMonarch Hair OilOn Holistic Haircare"When I create products for Ankh, I want everything to be holistic and natural. I want everyone to be able to use it—from children to pets, the whole family! When it came to beautifully scented products, most haircare has so much fragrance which has already been proven to be harmul for your body, and especially those with sensitive skin. So it is also very important for me that there's an element of aromatherapy in my products. When you use Ankh, I want customers to benefit from the aromatherapy and feel energized or relaxed—whatever the formula calls for." Adachi's Top Tips for Natural Hair Care1. "Don't be a product junkie! Find 1-2 product lines that work for you. Try things within those product lines, so if something isn't working for you, you can narrow it down to just two lines vs 10." 2. "Once you know what's working for you, stick with it. If it makes your skin and hair thrive, then don't try to add more, stick with it."Ankh's Star Products Tested by Team CherieIndra Moisture Mist
I have a pretty itchy scalp in general and it is even worse leading up to wash days 😭 — I’ve tried so many things to prevent it like but it’s so extra to have to shower and use a scalp detox just to get rid of a lil mid week itch (although I do recommend scalp care in your routine regardless) In comes this which is a very easy breezy itch relief for in between treatments + wash days! What’s it for? It freshens the scalp and also helps restore hair to its original vibrant health. Can be used with any style but I’ve been putting my curls in a BUN for quite a while so I just used it in between scrunchie swaps. What’s it like? Packaging says it “immediately freshens itchy and dry scalps” which do be true. My scalp was THIRSTY before using this and just a few spritzes at my roots really helped make it feel fresh again! It’s kinda like the same vibe you’d get from a dry shampoo...but with a different impact. How’s it feel? The mist is super light and mist-y — it really did soothe my scalp making it feel cool and clean. How’s it smell? It is all natural and has a few essential oils in it but they aren’t overpowering. The scent gives me v neutral spa vibes which I’m into bc I honestly cannoottt handle strong fragrance. What do ya think? I think this is a cool product that everyone can try! I’d highly recommend it for folks using protective styles but also if you straight up have an itchy scalp in general, this would be good for you! I will have to keep using it to see how it effects my hair health but after my first try I quite like it!!!
Ankh Indra Moisture MistIris Leave-In Detangler
Yes, this is HUMAN HAIR! I’m wearing a Raw Indian Curly wig unit from berrysleekstylez.com & the hair has been lovely thus far. I’ve had the unit in for about two weeks and the hair has started to tangle over time... it’s just SO much hair. However, I recently stumbled upon which has rightfully earned its 5 stars. This leave in detangler has served as a 2-in-1 for me. Not only did it detangle the hair on the unit but it relieved an extremely itchy scalp underneath. All I did was spritz a few pumps on the unit and then “gently” combed through it. As for my scalp, my head was itching so badly underneath my wig I barely could sleep. I peeped that the leave in was also a calming relief for irritated and dry scalps and it did just that. I was asleep within minutes after giving my scalp a good spritz of this. Ankh hair care is a black woman owned company that specializes in natural, holistic, and effective hair products. One of the main features of the line is the aromatherapy that is the base of the products and promotes relaxation, cleansing, and healing. ❤️ This hair gel truly smells amazing! You don’t even need to wear perfume because the scent will trail behind you. ❤️ The jars description proved to be true, there’s NO FLAKING! Seriously I love using gels and this is always a make or break factor for me. ❤️good hold! I used this to style my hair and my edges and they both stayed well with no gel cast. ❤️ it is very lightweight/easily absorbed and and made with natural ingredients. Knowing your products are clean is always a good feeling ————- 💔 one star off for me because it was a bit drying for everyday use :( most likely because of the essential oils. But hey smelling great? Priceless! So I will continue using this for special occasions and date nights.

HOW TO ROUND 2: EASIEST INTENSE WING LINER
Why hello there! I’m continuing on my how to tutorials. I really like this series breaking down all makeup trends and putting up how to tutorials for all makeup artist levels for makeup trends. Continuing on the wing liner, I used a liquid liner for my wing tutorial which is what I normally do. But liquid liners are not very beginner friendly. So this tutorial will teach you how to create an intense wing liner using a matte black eyeshadow. So check out the tutorial above to see how I achieve a wing liner using eyeshadow. Next tutorial will be the last of the wing liners. NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
It was time to get a new moisturizer. I was currently using the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream paired with the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer , RADHA BEAUTY - Rosehip Oil , and timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure because I have pretty dry skin. I love both of those moisturizers (although I’m not fond of all the Paula’s choice Omega+ complex moisturizer ingredients, but I loooooove the texture and feeling of it ) and love my oils (I won’t stop using the oils), but knew I needed a richer cream and also wanted to keep it down to just one cream, for time and my bank accounts sake. So if you’ve seen my last post, I was deciding between 3 brands but I couldn’t decide and was also nervous to try a new moisturizer, even though I knew I needed one, because I’m also acne prone so a new moisturizer to me was just terrifying lol. I was about to just get my usual HONEST - Hydrogel Cream because I knew it didn’t break me out and I like it a lot, although not quite as moisturizing as I need, it was on the safer side and I can’t imagine going a day without a moisturizer on this Sahara desert of a face!!! But then I discovered this brand I’ve never seen before? It’s called Awake Human. It’s not even a listing on Cherie for me to add the product! I read the ingredients and was intrigued (scroll through pics to see ingredients list), but because of my fear of new moisturizers, I was hesitant.. but I decided to bite the bullet because the ingredients looked amazing, was cheaper than Paula’s choice and the honest beauty’s moisturizer, but had the same amount of product. I received it a few days ago and I am in love!!!!! Soooooo rich and creamy and hydrating feeling, and it had the same smooth, rich, texture as the Paula’s Choice omega moisturizer, that I love so much!!! It comes in a nice little pump type of packaging, which I like. Keeps bacteria and gunk out. If you scroll through my pictures, you’ll see it. And a little bit goes a long way! The picture you see of the product on my fingers is the amount I use, but you can totally use less, especially if you have more oily or normal skin. I just like a lot of moisturizer! Lol I’ve noticed my face is much less dry feeling and looks smoother with less texture. I will keep you updated, but I think this is my new fave!!!! I’m so excited lol. Here the link the purchase: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWXJYVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_YHI-Fb9BRJKT0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 If you’re hesitant but intrigued like I was, I strongly encourage you to just try it. And if it happens that doesn’t work for your face, because remember, everyone is different and skincare is not a one size fits all, then it would most definitely be a really really nice hand cream, that would fit nicely in your bag. Have you heard of this brand before? And if so, have you used anything from them?
Trying to find the culprit... HELP!
Ever since I’ve added these two new products, I’ve noticed a couple new breakouts in places i’ve never experienced!!! They are red painful pimples too. Two on my forehead (I never get them there) , one on the outside of my nostril (i never get them there either), and the weirdest singular pimple on my NECK! Both of these products I have used on my face and neck, however, I’m not sure what product or ingredient is causing the sudden breakout!! Or is it just purging??? Help!!!!!! Did anyone else experience this with these products??? COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Murad - Nutrient-Charged Water Gel
The best workout hairstyle!
Hairstyles for the gym don’t have to be cute - but it’s nice when they are!! Here is a SUPER easy Dutch braid into a bun - perfect for the gym when you don’t want your hair getting in your face when you’re moving around! Begin with the Dutch braid which is a 3 strand braid taking pieces from either side of your head, UNDER the middle strand of hair. Then fluff it out by pulling on the braid strands and then take all of that and put into a half bun, wrap the extra hair and you’re done!!! Literally so easy yall and SO STINKING CUTE!! Xo, Johanna
