Useful Tips and Tricks for Better Hair Color Protection！
Aug. 31, 2020
Tired of seeing your expensive hair color go down the drain every time you wash? Well, that’s because you are making a lot of mistakes in taking care of your colored hair. Of course, you want your colored hair to stay around for a while which is why you must know what causes the hair color to fade so quickly and what you must do to make sure that your hair color stays on for longer.
Causes and Tips:
Cause and Tip # 1:
First and foremost, determine the health level of your hair. Try using the wet stretch test where you stretch wet hair to about 30% of its length. If it is healthy, it will return to its original length like a rubber band without any sign of damage. So if you think your hair shows and signs of damage, it is best to get a protein or moisturizing treatment prior to getting your hair colored. This will make sure that color stays for long without getting washed every time you shower or wash your hair.
Cause and Tip # 2:
If you have grey hair, it is best to leave the color on for longer. We often make the mistake of washing hair color sooner than we should. Not giving it sufficient time to complete the coloring process results in a weaker bond which starts to wear off after a few washes.
Cause and Tip # 3:
Are you using hard water on your hair? If so, then we have bad news for you. Using hard water can result in the accumulation of calcium and magnesium that can build over your hair and prevent the color molecules to stick with your hair. It is advised to always use soft water or use water softeners so the water won’t damage your hair.
Cause and Tip # 4:
Emulsification of hair is extremely fundamental to ensure that color has properly bonded with the hair before the closing of the cuticle. It is important to ensure proper emulsification for 4 to 5 minutes if you want the color in your hair to stay for a long time. The process involves adding a little bit of water to the color applied hair and working it into nice leather. Massage the hair with color for a little while and then add more water to rinse out the excess. Emulsifying makes sure that you have broken up the oil-based color and your hairs have absorbed as many color as they could.
Cause and Tip # 5:
Do not wash your hair with hot water when you are rinsing them clean of the color. As hot water not only damages your hair but also strips them of the natural oils. Moreover, it will cause your hair cuticles to open and cause color loss. Avoid taking hot showers if you have had your hair colored. Rather than going for soothing hot showers, opt for lukewarm water. It is best to avoid hot water to wash your hair for a while after having them colored.
Cause and Tip # 6:
One big mistake people make after coloring or having their hair colored is that they shampoo immediately after. It is good to wait for at least 12 hours and best to wait 24 hours before shampooing your hair after having them colored. This will prolong the life of your newly colored hair.
Cause and Tip # 7:
More important than the waiting period before shampooing your hair is the use of color-protecting products afterward. Avoid harsh hair products, shampoos, and conditioners that may strip your hair of their color. Use products that have a balanced pH or have it stated on them that they are ideal for colored hair. Products loaded in harsh chemicals, plastics, and petrochemicals can cause your colored hair to appear lifeless and dull.
We agree that colored hair can add a spark to your personality but it is in your hands whether you can manage that spark successfully or not.
HOLY GRAIL SPF 🌞🌞🌞
Okay guys as I have said before I am guilty of rarely ever wearing sunscreen. I just never liked the feel of it on my skin. I always felt like it made me greasy & clogged my pores. However, once I heard about this product I was very intrigued. NIOD - Survival 30 It actually isn’t sold in the United States for some reason so I had to purchase it on a UK website. (Beauty Bay) It is an antioxidant serum with SPF 30. At first, it appears to be tinted but it’s actually not. On NIOD’s website they state: “The slight tinted appearance is derived from the active technologies including Lutein, Fractionated Melanin and Pycnogenol.” It blends in with your skin so easily & does not leave a white cast like some other SPF products. However this serum literally makes my skin tone soo even & perfect! It also contains silicone so it completely smooths over my pores. AND besides all that great stuff, it’s a mineral sunscreen! So it protects against environmental & lifestyle issues. Like UV rays, blue light, etc. I have never loved a product as much as this one! I literally cannot believe how good my skin looks while using this stuff! For a 30ml bottle, I paid $33 on the Beauty Bay site. For me, that is completely worth it! It comes in this adorable packaging & pretty glass bottle. It also has a pump dispenser & squirts out the perfect amount for a single use! I really can’t recommend this stuff enough guys! It’s wonderful!! @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick

Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩🤩 Something thing I am very particular about is my moisturizer. My skin barrier tends need the extra TLC and the best thing to give it is moisture. So when I look for a moisturizer I need something that gives me instant hydration and doesn’t clog my pores. So when I received the : BASE BUTTER - Radiate Face Jelly Aloe Vera Gel Face Moisturizer I was so excited! The Brand : ✨Black Owned ✨Women Owned ✨Cruelty Free ✨Non-Comedogenic ✨Vegan ✨Paraben Free 🔑 Ingredients : ✨Aloe Vera Juice ✨Shea Butter ✨Evening Primrose Oil Okay, as you can see your girl woke up DULL! The only thing I did for this video was wash my face and use this to show y’all the transformation! I was using this EVERY night but last night I used my acne treatment routine and your girl FELT THAT (salicylic acid can be so drying to my combo skin). What’s my favorite part? This baby doesn’t have a smell or heavy greasy feel, so it perfect year round! At $21 this is a DEAL ! (The line I used on my cheek covered the entire bottom portion of my face!) Have you tried this brand?
At Home Exfoliating Facial ✨✨
So I recently received the Mimi Co Exfoliating Wand via IG PR. I couldn’t wait to do a full facial and I decided to do it tonight. Order: I purchased a steamer from Amazon for $23 and I’m obsessed with it (DM me for product info). I started with UpCircle - Cleansing Face Balm With Apricot Powder As my oil cleanse to get my sunscreen from today off and any other oils and dirts. INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash This cleanser is perfect for getting dirts and oils from skin as well. It’s not drying and it’s totally worth it! I paired it with a face cleansing scrub brush, I also purchased from Amazon. I love it and I paid around $20 for it as well! It doubles the vibration frequency put out by Foreo. CLARISMA - Namaste Glow Energizing Face Mask This was the mask I chose for the enzyme properties. This breaks down dirts and oils in pores and dead skin cells. I also steamed my face during this time. Follain - Toning Mist: Balance + Prime This was what I sprayed over my face for the prep for my exfoliating wand. I didn’t have a true medium and I am out of Aloe Vera plants so😭 I then exfoliated with my wand starting at my cheeks and working upward and then to my forehead. I went down and to the sides of my nose. Glow slow! innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion I used the toner to cleanse my skin and get any dirts left over from me exfoliating. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I use this as my hydrating mask. I took the back of my Mimi Co Wand on switched to the Moisturizing Setting. I gently slid upwards my entire face for the last 2 mins only and then wiped the mask off with a damp cloth. earthtoskin - Tea Time Anti Aging Eye Cream This is the most hydrating eye cream I own. I used this with the back of my cleansing brush on the heat setting! Yes it made my eye feel so hydrated and relaxed. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This was the final step as a good moisturizer seals in everything! To prevent acne I use the SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil as my last step. I didn’t use an astringent type toner, so I wanted to still treat my skin💚

Clear skin the gentle way?
Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩 “buh-koo-chee-all” HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum I’ve already become a diehard Herbivore lover. So to receive this beauty was super exciting. When I started my acne journey on Cherie I was (and still am) a Differin Acne Gel stan. This was my choice of retinol and I wanted it strong to treat acne and boost my cellular turnover. Now that my acne is currently under control and it’s getting hot again, I definitely want something smooth and gentle. Bakuchiol is a gentler alternative to the very popular ingredient retinol. So essentially you’ll get overall youthful results for your skin. I haven’t tested this on my acne theory yet, but overall my face has been smooth and irritation free. This serum does not have a smell which I love for products of this caliber. I also love that it’s light and not drying at all. I use this at night and since i have a tolerance to retinol I use it every night. I haven’t been using it long enough to see results (about 12 weeks) but I definitely can’t wait to finish this. Have you tried Bakuchiol?
