The 6 best setting powders - for even the driest skins!
Many of us never use a setting powder to finish our makeup look - perhaps you just haven’t found the right product, perhaps you’re worried that it will make your skin look powdery and cakey, particularly if your skin is dry to start with.
But a good setting powder can really help give your makeup all day staying power, particularly when it’s wet or humid outside. And if you’re worried that it won’t work with your dry skin, think again - we’ve done the hard work for you and identified the seven best setting powders that work with your dry skin, leaving it looking hydrated, bright, smooth and finished without feeling heavy.
1. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Pressed Powder
NeutrogenaHealthy Skin Pressed Powder SPF 20
If you’re new to setting powders, this pressed powder from Neutrogena could be a good place to start as it’s easy to apply. It’s lightweight formulation is designed to mattify while not caking, and it contains pro-vitamin B5 and vitamins C and E to hydrate, brighten and smooth dry skin, as well as containing light-diffusing particles to minimise the appearance of fine lines and imperfections.
2. Tarte Shape Tape Setting Powder
This vegan translucent setting powder from cult brand Tarte Cosmetics won’t gather in creases, cracks or wrinkles on dry skin. Instead it blurs the appearance of fine lines and imperfections, while diffusing light to make your skin look radiant. It’s formulated with Amazonian clay for additional staying power, and is suitable for dry and sensitive skins.
3. NYX Professional Makeup High Glass Finishing Powder
This ultra-fine setting powder is a fundamental step in achieving that coveted glass skin effect, working to fix your makeup in place while enhancing a polished, natural-looking radiance. It’s a great choice for dry skin as it is formulated with special moisturizers to protect, hydrate and nourish the skin.
4. Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder
COVER FXPerfect Loose Setting Powder
This talc-free loose setting powder from Cover FX blends well - it sets makeup and prevents shine, without settling into fine lines, making it suitable for drier skins. It gives a natural looking, soft-focus finish, and is kind to skin, being formulated with green tea leaves and Vitamins C, E and F to soothe skin and help protect against free radicals.
5. bareMinerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder
This mineral based finishing powder from bareMinerals can be used to set makeup, or even just on bare skin to give it a more ‘finished’ look. As with all bareMinerals products, it is hypoallergenic and fragrance free, making it suitable for sensitive skin types. Its lightweight mineral formulation helps blur lines and imperfections, without settling or caking, making it ideal to give dry skin an airbrushed look
6. Onomie AHA! Perfecting Setting Powder
Innovative makeup brand Onomie are known for their makeup meerts skincare products, and this is no exception. This lightweight translucent setting powder is infused with Lactic Acid for hydration and exfoliation, peptides for collagen boosting, and time-released Vitamin C to block free radicals, even skin tone and smooth fine lines, and its encapsulated formula means that not only is it long-lasting, but it provides nourishing nutrients to the skin all day, making it ideal for dry and dehydrated skin types. It has a sheer and silky formulation, which blends smoothly to a fresh finish.
Tips from a dermatologist on sunscreen ☀️
Let’s talk about sunscreen ☀️ What’s a good sunscreen to wear? One that is: * Broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays) * SPF 30 or higher * Water resistant This will help protect your skin from early skin aging, sunburn, and skin cancer. What is the difference between chemical and physical sunscreens? Chemical sunscreens work like a sponge, absorbing the sun’s rays. They contain one or more of the following ingredients: oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, and octinoxate. These are often easier to rub into the skin without a white cast. Physical sunscreens (aka mineral sunscreens) act like a shield, sitting on the surface of your skin and deflecting the sun’s rays. These can come on white. They have the active ingredients zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide Reapply every 2 hours when outside in the sun ☀️ Some of my favorites: Tinted: Cerave tinted, la roche posay tinted, alastin CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50 ALASTIN SKINCARE - HydraTint Pro Mineral Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 36 Not tinted: colorescience, drunk elephant colorescience - Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield SPF 50 Sunscreen DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 What’s your favorite sunscreen?

My AM routine while rocking cherie merch!
@cheriethanks for the cute sweatshirt! I am obsessed. Here is my am routine! sisley - FLORAL TONING LOTION First I tone and prep my skin with this toner. I love this toner so much because it is so hydrating and doesn’t strip the skin. It also moisturizes while helping to clean and prep it to absorb other products. NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2% Then I use this essence. I love this brand so much and this essence is so hydrating and light. It helps plump and prepares it for the serum. NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% Next I use this serum which I have been enjoying. It is super gentle that I can even use it during the day. So far my skin has been tolerating it very well. I also notice my dark spots decreasing much quicker. LORD JONES - Acid Mantle Repair CBD Moisturizer Then I use this moisturizer that I am obsessed with. It so far has been my favorite product of the year. It’s so hydrating and calming. It feels amazing on the skin as well. Last I finish off with a sunscreen. I previously reviewed this before! It’s from Korean brand Corthe. ^^ what do you like to do in your morning routine?
GRWM! New products and some old!
Hello everyone! I did another GRWM using some new and old products! First I started off with a primer. I used e.l.f. - Poreless Putty Primer I was actually really surprised by this. It reminded me of Tachas silk canvas primer. It went on smoothly and did a good job of blurring my skin. I will say though after I looked at my makeup in the mirror up close it did settle a bit into my pores and my creases and was pretty noticeable. Overall I think this is a good product and will work for people with smoother skin. e.l.f. - 16HR Camo Concealer Then I used the elf concealer. I love this concealer. I’ve used it so many other times in my other videos. WINKY LUX - Diamond Powder Foundation Then I used the winky lux foundation. This actually went on so nicely and was super natural looking. I love how it’s so weightless and decreases shine. I would recommend this for people with oilier skin. the CRÈME shop - "Macro Brow" Angled Brow Pencil + Spooley Then i used macro brow. This is just to fill in the last bits of my eyebrow to look fuller. It’s easy to use and has a great price point. I just wish the pigment was a little easier to apply. You have to push so hard. RITUEL DE FILLE - Rare Light Crème Luminizer My favorite brand of highlighters ever. Just so pretty and pigmented. All natural and cruelty free. An amazing brand overall. 💞 fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 I used a tinted fresh lip treatment. Love the way they hydrate and the subtle color it gives off. They also smell and taste really good 😂. Hope you enjoyed getting ready with me! Let me know if you have any questions about the products I used.
