Cherie is an online community of beauty lovers sharing their stories; whether that's their favorite products, makeup tutorials, or skincare routines. Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you! While there are a lot of factors that go into wig buying like length, texture, and your face shape, the most important one is the type of wig you choose! When it comes to a big investment like a wig, I want to make sure you get the best advice you can. So, between human hair and synthetic wigs, I wanted to take some time to break it down for you. Here are the top pros and cons for both types of wigs.Human Hair WigsThe Pros: 1. Styling is a breeze. With human hair wigs, the limits are endless! From color to perms to regular styling, human hair wigs offer a variety of styling options. Keep in mind, however, that it is VERY important to take your wig to a professional hairstylist who is experienced in dealing with human hair wigs if you wish to alter the style drastically. 2. So Many Textures to Choose From. Human hair wigs come in a variety of textures, so from 1a-4c, matching your texture is easy! 3. These Wigs Are Long-lasting. With proper care, human hair wigs can last a year or more, even when they're worn daily. 4. Your Hair Looks Like It's Yours. Human hair wigs feel natural to the touch — and look natural too!The Cons: 1. This Hair Is High Maintenance. Just like real hair, human hair wigs need to be washed, conditioned, treated and styled frequently. 2. If You're Not Wanting to Shell Out, You Might Want to Find an Alternative. Because they are harvested from human hair, they are typically more expensive. 3. You Might Not Get the Color You Want. It can be pretty difficult to replicate an exact color when you replace a human hair wig or wish to purchase a back up of the same style. Human hair wigs of the same color tend to vary slightly from wig to wig because each wig contains hair harvested from multiple people. 4. Rain and Wind Will Get You. Like your own hair would, human hair wigs react to the weather and can become frizzy, limp or dry depending on the weather. While this does speak to their natural nature, it can be a real problem in inclimate weather! 5. Your Color Will Fade. Unfortunately, the color of a human hair wig will oxidize or fade with exposure to light. 6. Human Hair Wigs are Fragile. You can damage these wigs easily if you brush your hair too harshly, tease too often, or style your hair with heat too much. 7. These Wigs Can Be Heavy. Human hair wigs can feel heavier than synthetic wigs because real hair is heavier than its synthetic counterpartsSynthetic WigsThe Pros: 1. Ease of care. Because synthetic wigs have something called “style retention,” meaning the synthetic strands have a kind of memory that keeps them looking fresh for longer, they never have to be styled. All you have to do is wash, dry and then shake them out, and the wig will return to its proper style. That being said, weather doesn't affect synthetic wigs much either! 2. Versatility. With synthetic wigs, you can try out various colors and styles without the need to see a hairstylist. Just buy another wig! 3. The possibilities are endless. When it comes to color, you can have it all with synthetic wigs. From your natural browns, blondes, and reds to all kinds of fantasy colors, synthetic wigs are the way to go if you're looking for a colorful choice. 4. Syntheitc wigs are relatively inexpensive. While the cost of synthetic wigs obviously varies depending on color, length, style, and brand, synthetic wigs tend to be much cheaper than human hair options. 5. Synthetic wigs can look just as natural as human hair wigs. If you purchase a high quality synthetic wig, it is very difficult to tell the difference between a synthetic wig and one made from real human hair! The Cons: 1. Shine bright like a diamond. Some budget synthetic wigs (typically those under $100) may have an unnatural shine that can make it much more apparent that it is, in fact, a wig. 2. These aren't going to last you long. Synthetic wigs don't last as long as human hair wigs (typically only about 4-6 months with daily wear.) So if you're looking for a wig you can wear every day for a good, long time, synthetic wigs might not be the best choice for you. 3. You can't really "restyle". Synthetic wigs cannot be straightened or curled with heated styling tools unless it is a specifically designed "heat friendly" synthetic wig. Otherwise, you'll burn or melt the synthetic strands. 4. You're stuck with the color. Recoloring is not recommended for synthetic wigs and traditional hair color will not adhere to the synthetic fibers.

DON’T try these at home!
With so many self- proclaimed beauty gurus in the world today, it’s very easy to get sucked into the DIY trend. Most experts and skincare specialists will tell you these homemade concoctions are not as good as they are made to be. Here are 5 ingredients you should not put on your face and why. 1. Essential Oils- The fragrant portion of plants is what makes essential oils. Modern science has revealed how fragrant oils cause problems for the skin. In the long run components in essential oils can significantly irritate and damage the skin. 2. Lemon Juice 🍋- Lemons are extremely acidic, which will irritate your skin. You can experience excessive redness, dryness, and skin peeling. Using lemons on your skin can cause more damage then benefit to your skin. 3. Coconut Oil- This ingredient causes a lot of debate amongst my followers, but fact is a fact, coconut oil is highly comedogenic. This means that the oil clogs pores on your face. When you apply coconut oil to your face it lays on the surface and is not able to be absorbed into the skin due to its large molecules. It can cause breakouts, blackheads, and whiteheads. 4. Witch Hazel- Here is another debate stirring ingredient. A lot of my patients and followers swear by witch hazel because of its immediate results on absorbing oil on the skin. What they fail to understand that it is not only absorbing the excess oils, but it is also stripping your skin of its natural oils. This can be very damaging to your skin and it’s natural protecting barrier, causing unnatural sensitized and dry skin. 5. Toothpaste- Such a popular trend and so harmful to your skin. Toothpaste contains high levels of baking soda which will mess with your skin’s ph level. This can lead to redness and burning of the skin. Toothpaste is a horrible option for your blemishes and instead I would recommend THE inkey LIST - Succinic Acid Acne Treatment As tempting as it is to try natural remedies at home, do your skin a favor and resort to stabilized and researched ingredients and products.
The best sunscreen for dry skin☀️
Y’all… Let me tell you how dry my skin gets. My skin gets so dry that it looks like my skin is actually flaking. I have struggled with dry skin my entire life and I hardly find any products that truly help my skin. I reached out to a friend who gave me a skin care routine and she suggested this sunscreen PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ it is honestly the best! Not only is it scent free but it hydrates my skin without burning it. I have high sensitivity to a lot of products and this is one that doesn’t make my skin irritated or break out. If you struggle with dry skin, try out this sunscreen! Not only does it help with the dryness but also you should always be protecting your face with sunscreen!!!
Preserving My Curls Overnight
This is how I preserve most of my hairstyles overnight! I hear many people complain about how their bonnet or scarf is always falling off their head and ending up on the floor once they wake up, I was having the same issue! That is when I decided to create a wrap that would stay on throughout the night while protecting your curls. I hand make them myself and sale on Etsy (link in my bio) if you are interested! 😊
