Skin positivity is a lifelong struggle amiright?
I told myself I was going to take a selfie to post. One selfie. Not 50 so I could get the best one. Make-up free. No filters. No edits. Unwashed hair.
Here it is.
When I look at this a whole dialogue fills my mind “wow, you need sleep”, “maybe you should be better about taking your medicine”, “those rashes really messed up your face”, “good lord girl drink some water once in awhile”, “good thing you laid out covered in baby oil all those years!”, “maybe it’s time for a brow appointment” and on and on and on.
That’s what we all see when we look at photos of ourselves right? The bad.
But, it’s also “I look ok for 43. For keeping 3 kids alive for more than 18 years. For having an immune disease that more than likely will ruin my skin and my face in the next 5-10 years. For neglecting my skin for the better part of 30 years.”
We all have a story. And our faces, our skin can reflect that. But most of the time you are the only one who can see it because you’re the only one who knows the whole story.
To everyone else you look beautiful. Acne, spots, wrinkles, scars. It’s all part of your story. These “flaws” I see are all part of MY story.

BEST mascara for straight lashes 🤩💕
I have straight, thin, long Asian lashes that need volume + curl + length, so it’s pretty much impossible for me to find a mascara that I like. I use a Shu Uemura or Kevyn Aucoin lash curler to curl my lashes first - these two lash curlers have been the best performing for me, since they fit Asian eyelids pretty well!
L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara - this mascara is supposed to be a dupe for TF Better Than Sex Mascara, and I actually like it better! I’ve used both the waterproof and the regular one, and it’s kept my straight lashes curled. I like drier formulas, and this is definitely one of those - no flaking and curl is held all day, BUT it does get a bit clumpy. if you’re into clumpy lashes (I am, honestly), you might like this one because it does build volume and length.
benefit - Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara - this is probably my favorite high end mascara because it actually lengthens, volumizes, and retains my curl. I usually don’t believe that high end mascara is worth it, but I would repurchase this one if I was splurging on myself!
benefit - They're Real! Mascara - this is a very ordinary mascara and performs really closely to the original L’Oreal Voluminous line, in my opinion. nothing to write home about - didn’t hold up my curl, no significant length or volume.
Heroine Mascara - this mascara is INTENSE. it holds my curl super well and gives me some length and volume, but is IMPOSSIBLE to take off. it took about ~3 days for me to completely clean this mascara off with oil-based remover, so if you have really straight and thin lashes, this may be a great option, but do note it’s difficult to remove.
Too Faced - Better Than Sex Mascara - I actually despise this mascara because it’s super wet, then gets super dry in the tube really quickly. this is one of the few mascaras that flaked on me, didn’t hold a curl, and just didn’t look good immediately after application. I got a free one and wouldn’t repurchase.
L'ORÉAL - Telescopic Waterproof Mascara - my holy grail since middle school! I use the waterproof one and it holds my curl, lengthens, and volumizes (with extra coats) better than any other mascara has. every time I stray from this mascara, I find myself coming back because it’s just that good. I find it’s the right wet/dry ratio that I love. would totally recommend this for all lash types, whether you have straight, curled, thick, thin, or short lashes!
overall, my top two picks would be the L’Oreal telescopic mascara and the L’Oreal lash paradise. I wouldn’t spend too much money on mascara and would instead invest in a great eyelash curler, since they can last you for years. drugstore products are always my favorite, so if you have any recs I’d love to hear them!

Let’s face it, we all struggle with skin issues at some point in our lives, but the majority of beauty and fashion imagery we consume only features the blemish-free side of us. Sending love and embracing imperfections take a lot of patience and strength, but it’s time for conversations around body positivity to finally turn towards skin.

🥭 Creamy + Dreamy AF Cleansing Balm ✨
This is the GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm and I really, really love it-and I’ll tell you why!
✨Claims via Glow Recipe✨
“Reveal smooth, glowing skin... and effortlessly dissolve makeup, dirt, and oil with the PEG-free Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm....The mix of exfoliating and calming papaya seed oil, papaya enzymes, papaya extract, and antioxidant-packed blueberry, leaves skin clean, bouncy, and glowing.”
✨My experience✨
So this is only the 3rd actual cleansing balm I’ve tried, and it’s my favorite so far. The oil in mine did not come super solidified, it was more of a super thick but creamy balm (as the texture shows. With other balms I tend to get chunks of oil that take forever to melt down and I loved that this product is so smooth and creamy that it instantaneously melted into my hands and on my face. Though I have been told by others that their texture was not like mine with the same product, so there may be some batches that are better than others? For those of you who have tried this out, what was the texture for you guys?
A little does go a long way but I like to use big fat globs of this it feels like silk on my skin!
💦It doesn’t irritate my eyes AT ALL! Of course if oil does get in my eye my vision gets blurry but all oils do that and I did not experience any pain with it💦
👩🔬Ingredients- because bitch they don’t lie👩🔬
Papaya enzymes ~ enzymes are chemicals that speed up the rate of chemical reactions without being consumed by the reaction itself. So this helps our skins biological processes that normally require dangerously high body temperatures / energy, able to occur at normal temperatures. They exfoliate by breaking down the keratin protein that makes up our dead skin cells on the uppermost skin layer. Enzymes can also be anti-inflammatory + protect our skin from oxidative damage from sun and environmental pollutants. I love that I can use this for a way gentle exfoliation every day! This comes 8th in the ingredient list so I appreciate that glow recipe actually included a significant amount of the fruit enzymes that it advertises.
Papaya Extract + Seed Oil ~ rich in fatty acids (oleic and linoleic) as well as vitamins A, C + E to nourish skin
Blueberry Extract ~ rich in antioxidants that can help fight free radicals damage, soothe + brighten skin
Camellia Japonica Seed Oil ~ a lightweight, moisturising oil rich in Oleic Acid plus vitamins A, D, + E
Apricot Kernel Oil ~ high in fatty acids + vitamin E
to all you fragrance haters out there- this one is FRAGRANCE FREE but still smells like fruity + delicious

This product does contain polyethylene. There is a lot of buzz hating on that ingredient due to harming the ocean. Now, I’m not completely sure if liquid cosmetic grade polyethylene is harmful the way consumable household plastics are. Anyone let me know if you do! Glow recipe does make that distinguishment.
