With brown skin that often becomes irritated and dry, then eventually scarring. Although I have extremely dry skin, I am also acne prone in some areas. The combination of these skin problems means I experience hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation is an issue that Black and Brown people often face, and often times it takes a lot of treatment, trial, and error to get the results you're looking for. With my skin issues, I'm always intrigued by brands that claim they can help improve hyperpigmentation and even out my skin tone, so when I saw Urban Skin RX's Even Tone line get some hype on social media, I figured I should try it our for myself. After all, 60 seconds on Tik Tok won't give you all the details! Even Tone Cleansing BarFirst impressions: Once I cracked open the jar, I was happy to see there was a mini loofa inside to help clean my face. I drenched the pad and watched it slowly expand. I then began to rub it on top of the bar as it created a sudsy consistency. Upon application, I rubbed in a circular motion for about 60 seconds and then rinsed. My skin was SQUEAKY clean. It seemed as if it got the job done and stripped my pores of any excess oils so I was pleased. The Experience:The feeling it left on my skin was extremely squeaky clean, which I don't tend to like in cleansers. For someone with extremely dry skin, you don't want your skin to be stripped bare to the point of redness and irritation. The smell was not a problem at all, it smelled very earthy. No strong fragrance smell was present. It definitely left my skin feeling clean, almost too clean. Not much hydration was left in my skin which made me run to the next product to get some moisture. The Verdict: - Unfortunately, my usual cleanser comes out winning in this circumstance. I am currently using Cerave's hydrating cleanser, which gets the job done while making sure my skin is still hydrated. I will say the urban skin rx cleanser is a better agent in fading my dark spots, but after a week of use my skin became pretty irritated by this product. I checked urban skin rx website and it states under this product "who should not use? People with extremely dry skin." And that is 100% me.Retinol Rapid Repair and Dark Spot TreatmentFirst impressions:At first application, this product had a light lotion like consistency. It was very light in color and easy to apply. Melted into the skin like butter. The Experience:The feel is very smooth and softly melts into the skin as you rub it in a circular motion. The smell is very minimal to none if you ask me, I was expecting something a bit more potent but that wasn't the case at all. The product easily soaks into my skin without leaving a white cast on my face. The Verdict: Overall, it has been a great dark spot treatment. I am especially a fan of the niacinamide ingredient in this product. However, my current dark spot treatment is pretty high end and contains similar ingredients plus other agents that target dark spots which have helped me a great deal. I can appreciate the price point of this product as well as its active ingredients.Even Tone Super Glow SerumFirst Impressions:My first impression was whew that SMELL. However, I was able to get past it once I felt the mighty acids plunging into my pores. This serum is THICK. Once I rubbed it on my face it made me feel like america's favorite glazed donut. The Experience:It feels pretty smooth and wet upon application to the skin. The smell is rancid—I can't even lie. I can't put my finger on which ingredient is making it smell that way but it is not pleasant. The Verdict:This one hits different. Best serum I have tried to date. I am currently not dedicated to a serum, so I am very impressed by this one! Just How Well Did The Products Work On Fading Spots? What was good? - The use of niacinamide in the retinol dark spot treatment was good, alongside the kojic acid in the super glow serum. These two ingredients singlehandedly helped lift some of the hyperpigmentation from my dark spots. Week 1, it wasn't too much of a difference. However, week 2 I was noticing more even and bright skin. What would I change? - After 3 days of use, I began to feel a bit of itchiness and irritation on my face after I would use the cleansing bar. I would recommend making a cleanser that is for dry and sensitive skin because you don't want to strip too much out of the skin leaving it dry and irritated. How did it work short-term and long-term? - Short term, the products worked just as well as they did longterm, but it wasnt until I saw real results week 2. It was week two that showed me these products were really working. My skin felt very hydrated after using the glow serum and I almost forgot to put moisturizer on due to how hydrated my skin became. My favorite part? - If you couldn't tell from my answer above, the glow serum was an all time favorite. This left my skin feeling plump and bright. My reccomendation? - I would definitely recommend these products, the cleanser may not have been the best for me, but I know it could help others with less sensitive skin. As for the other 2 products, I would recommend to all. If you are struggling with dark spots and hyperpigmentation, I definitely recommend these two prdoucts, especially with the key ingredients present in both.Overall, I would give this travel kit ★★★★'s

My Top 5 Foundations for Oily Skin
My Top 5 Foundations for Oily Skin
Here are my top 5 foundations for oily/combination/acne prone skin! These are by no means my only favorite foundations, just the ones I keep going back to. 1. ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation This matte, oil-free foundation controls oil all day. It’s sweat, heat and humidity-resistant, waterproof and 24-hour colour true. With buildable, medium-to-full coverage that feels lightweight and so comfortable. No touchups needed. Best for hot weather/ holidays. The only Downside is that it doesn’t come with a pump 2. MAYBELLINE - Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Foundation This foundation is a must have if you are looking for a good drugstore option for oily skin. It’s super affordable and gives a beautiful finish without feeling heavy on the skin. 3. HUDA BEAUTY - Fauxfilter Foundation is perfect for you if you are looking for full coverage. Just a couple of pumps go a long way. However, the formula isn’t ideal for anyone with dry skin or for people sensitive to string fragrances. 4. L'ORÉAL - Infallible Pro-Matte Liquid Longwear Foundation This formula blends unbelievably well and you can build this to completely full coverage! ! I'm beyond impressed for this being drugstore. 5. The Ordinary - Colours Coverage Foundation with SPF 15 this is my everyday foundation and gives good enough coverage. I just have to mix two different shades to get my color as the range is quiet limited but for the price I pay, I don’t mind. Always stay away form words like “dewy”, “luminous”, “shiny” , “glowy” if you have oily skin. Let me know if you have any questions.
CMON MADDIE..... Really ? 😒
CMON MADDIE..... Really ? 😒
okay so i’m sorry for the light this week but i’m working on a work station. However this Morphe Maddie palette isn’t doing it for the me. In my opinion I believe to pull a good palette together is blend ability and good shimmer or glitters. The shimmers on the is so trash 🗑 sorry to say. i literally had to dig for a good creamy shine. However it isn’t a complete miss. The other colors did have some good pigment and my fav shade is the black shade. It was really dark and blendable. I would probably recommend this to someone with more fair skin because they pigments and shimmers would work better in their favor. Have you used this palette if yes tell me all about below, if no would you still wanna try it out and why ?

I did a little video with some of my favorite reds a little while ago, but I feel like NYX - Intense Butter Gloss in Apple Crisp deserves its own post! It's glossy, pigmented, AND affordable... we love to see it! 🙌🏾
The best sunscreen for dry skin☀️
The best sunscreen for dry skin☀️
Y’all… Let me tell you how dry my skin gets. My skin gets so dry that it looks like my skin is actually flaking. I have struggled with dry skin my entire life and I hardly find any products that truly help my skin. I reached out to a friend who gave me a skin care routine and she suggested this sunscreen PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ it is honestly the best! Not only is it scent free but it hydrates my skin without burning it. I have high sensitivity to a lot of products and this is one that doesn’t make my skin irritated or break out. If you struggle with dry skin, try out this sunscreen! Not only does it help with the dryness but also you should always be protecting your face with sunscreen!!!
My well-loved drugstore makeup essentials
My well-loved drugstore makeup essentials
These are the drugstore makeup picks I ACTUALLY use! Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Tarte Shapetape Concealer. Even the latest launches from Rare Beauty have me swooning. But drugstore makeup holds a special place in my heart. Walking through the aisles of Target or CVS gets me giddy. Quite honestly, I count those trips as my therapy sessions. Plus, these are the places were I started getting essentials to experiment with when I was younger! My favorite brands to score from are no doubt Pixi, NYX, Essence Cosmetics, Sonia Kashuk, Maybelline and Covergirl. They’re just my go-to’s! They’re the brands constantly putting out dupes for cult favorites. Everything in this picture, I use on a daily basis. I’ve been going through Maybelline Lifter Glosses like they’re going out of style. I actually was responsible for my local Target running out of stock once...oops. Another new essential that’s crawled its way into my everyday routine is the Covergirl Cooling Glow Stick. It’s part of their new Clean Fresh line and I use it on my WHOLE face. Top tip: try it under your eyes over your concealer 👀 I’m still in search for the perfect drugstore CC cream, does anyone have any good recommendations?
