Reasons Why Your Acne Treatment Isn’t Working

Have you ever wondered why your acne treatment isn’t working? Do you just feel like giving up? Well DON’T!! There are many reasons why your treatment isn’t working, and today I list seven of the main reasons why your acne treatment is not giving you the results you are looking for.
Here is a list of 7 reasons your acne treatment may not be working:
⚡️1. Not using an acne regimen for your skin type -If your skin is dry and you're using drying acne treatment gels with high concentrations such as Benzoyl Peroxide 10%- you are only drying and irritating your skin more.
⚡️2. Giving up too soon– Remember skinaare products take time to work. Verywellhealth.com says, "Depending on the medication you are using, it can take at few weeks before you really start to notice an improvement in your skin, and it can take up to three months longer to see clearing." Don’t give up too soon! If you stop treatment before that time period, you are not giving your skin time to fully adjust and shed old dead skin.
⚡️3. Applying the wrong amount– Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the label to be able to know how much of the treatment to apply. If you're still not sure, consult with your dermatologist or esthetician (or whomever prescribed the acne treatment). Using the wrong concentration of your acne treatment can affect your results.
⚡️4. Clogged pores-You must wash your face prior to applying any skincare product. Clogged pores will make it difficult for your treatments to absorb into the pores and clear your skin, make sure you are using an appropriate cleanser for your skin type.
⚡️5. Stressful lifestyle-Too much stress will cause more breakouts and irritate your skin more than what you started with. No acne treatment can prevent further breakouts completely if you’re not managing stress in your life. Things like yoga, exercise, and facials can help relax you when dealing with stress. Also be sure to get at least 7-8 hours of rest.
⚡️6. Not applying moisturizer-You should always apply moisturizer after your treatments (or before if your skin is really dry) to prevent dryness/peeling from your acne treatments. Your skin will also be protected by applying the proper moisturizer for your skin type.
⚡️7. Not applying sunscreen-You MUST apply sunscreen everyday even if you only apply your treatments at night. "Using broad-spectrum sunscreen daily will protect your skin from premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and skin cancer" (Verywellhealth.com).
Spot treat breakout prone areas
Keep in mind, you should apply your acne spot treatment all over your face where you experience breakouts to prevent new spots from forming! Picking at your skin willl only cause more breakouts. There are a variety of acne treatments used to treat acne such as benzoyl peroxide for bacteria or and prescription retinoids for moderate to cystic acne. A dermatologist to discover what treatment is best for your skin type.

The system that replaced my retinoid!
The system that replaced my retinoid!
Hey Cherie fam! So as some of you know I embarked on a new skin journey around adult acne. I was on a Derm prescribed regimen of cerave, epiduo, and spironolactane (see my posts from sept-October 2020 for more deetz) to help combat my acne. By October, my skin had improved a lot! Texture was down significantly, but I felt like the retinoid (epiduo) was making my skin super sensitive. I was prone to inflammatory acne (you know just red bumps, nothing to pop type) and I felt like the retinoid also destroyed my skin barrier because my eczema was really flaring up on my face. So I made the scary decision to drop my retinoid! I was scared to do so because it helped with my acne so much, and I really did not want it to come back. But I needed something less damaging to my skin, and better for my eczema. I did a bunch of research and knew to keep my acne at bay I needed: acids in my routine still to exfoliate nourishment like ceramides or niancinamide to help my skin barrier deep moisture but NOT pore clogging So, one thing I did was add Heraux - Heraux Molecular Anti-Inflammaging Serum in the AM to help repair my skin, but I still needed something for my acne! Enter CLEARSTEM an acne system developed by a dermatologist duo who both suffered from acne in their adult lives. This duo wanted to create a skincare line that treated acne and aging at the same time! The line is also cruelty free, vegan, has no hormone disrupting ingredients I was lucky to receive a PR package from them, so I dedicated the months of December and January to really give this system a shot! My routine was: AM: wash with CLEAR STEM - GENTLECLEAN – Vitamin Infused Calming Wash this wash had a nice citrus scent and is super gentle on the skin. I use it with my PMD clean for 60 seconds and it’s helped with inflammation ! tone with INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner more daytime antioxidants! serum Heraux - Heraux Molecular Anti-Inflammaging Serum to help repair damaged skin and do day time anti inflammaging moisture/SPF EVERYDAY HUMANS - Rosé S'il Vous Plait SPF30 Gentle Mineral Sunscreen I LOVE this sunscreen. It’s actually quite hydrating and I don’t really need to use a moisturizer before! PM: wash with CLEAR STEM - VITAMINscrub – Antioxidant-Infused Scrub Cleanser lightly exfoliates skin and smells so fresh serum CLEAR STEM - CLEARITY – AHA Mandelic Acid Serum + Vitamin C this baby does a lot of the work in keeping acne at bay. It has a nice consistency and I leave it on for 15 mins before I use the next serum. serum CLEAR STEM - Cellrenew Collagen Infusion Serum ( Anti-Acne + Anti-Aging Stem Cell Serum) this serum is so hydrating I love it! I feel like I’m putting nutrients right back into my skin YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream

I usually use some of the the tatcha dewy skin collection skincare, I just added this to the routine. Literally tatcha is the only thing that keeps my skin care at this moment. The dewy collection is great for dry skin but it is a bit pricey. The $12 face mask thoooo be hitting. Anybody else use this brand or want to use it?

I won this cute little kit in a raffle & I couldn’t be more thankful! I have always wanted to try these products but never wanted to spend the money on all of them incase I didn’t like them! Inside this kit are the following products: DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 That’s literally a whole skincare routine! So far I started out my day with one of Drunk Elephants infamous “Face Smoothies” I washed my face with Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser & then combined C-Firma Day Serum, Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, & Protini Polypeptide Cream together on my mixing trey with a disposable skincare spatula! I applied it all over my face & neck. Once that absorbed, I applied Umbra Tinte Daily Defense SPF 30 over my face & neck & was done! I love how the kit comes with steps to walk you through different routines you can use in the morning or at night! I will do a follow up review after I have used all the products for a few weeks! But so far, my skin feels & looks great! I have been breaking out lately & haven’t felt the best about my skin so I really needed this pick me up!! Thank you for reading! Hi Army!
Hi Army!
Beauty is always evolving. That's why I'm never afraid to switch up and thing or two. When I started my beauty journey, I only wore eyeliner. I was so afraid to try other products because of the stigma that was on "makeup" and how it would make your skin look, etc! But once I realized my passion for Beauty such as makeup, skincare & hair, I asked myself "Why am I listening to everyone else?" and from that day forward, I've been discovering so many great things about my skin, what products are my favorite and what I do & don't like. Finding the perfect products for you can be a mission, but lately It's been a bit easier on my friends & I by using the Cherie beauty app. Not only do I get to explore products that I'd probably walk past in the store, but I get to read reviews and watch people with the same skin & hair type as me express their love or hate for the products! Now instead of listening to people say beauty is bad, I get to be in a community full of people all around the world who share the same passion. It's exactly what I wish I had at the beginning of my journey! Can’t wait to share more with you guys! 💕

My morning are for hyperpigmentation and dryness. I find that I focus on this to prep for my night routine for acne. I start with Double cleansing: UpCircle - Cleansing Face Balm INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash This is perfect for getting last night off your face. Tone: innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion Follain - Toning Mist: Balance + Prime This is to replenish hydration and also cleanse any dirts and oils from my skin missed by my cleanser Treat: NEOGENLAB - Real Rerment Micro Essence insta natural - Vitamin C Serum Moisturize cocokind - Texture smoothing cream This is by far the best cream if you have small fine bumps this baby has helped me tremendously! I had milia under my eye and this combined with my night routine has cleared it up ! KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 This is the ONLY mineral sunscreen I’ve tried that didn’t give me a ghastly white cast. It has a slight tint but it honestly barely noticeable 😭 What in your morning routine ?
