Reasons Why Your Acne Treatment Isn’t Working

Have you ever wondered why your acne treatment isn’t working? Do you just feel like giving up? Well DON’T!! There are many reasons why your treatment isn’t working, and today I list seven of the main reasons why your acne treatment is not giving you the results you are looking for.
Here is a list of 7 reasons your acne treatment may not be working:
⚡️1. Not using an acne regimen for your skin type -If your skin is dry and you're using drying acne treatment gels with high concentrations such as Benzoyl Peroxide 10%- you are only drying and irritating your skin more.
⚡️2. Giving up too soon– Remember skinaare products take time to work. Verywellhealth.com says, "Depending on the medication you are using, it can take at few weeks before you really start to notice an improvement in your skin, and it can take up to three months longer to see clearing." Don’t give up too soon! If you stop treatment before that time period, you are not giving your skin time to fully adjust and shed old dead skin.
⚡️3. Applying the wrong amount– Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the label to be able to know how much of the treatment to apply. If you're still not sure, consult with your dermatologist or esthetician (or whomever prescribed the acne treatment). Using the wrong concentration of your acne treatment can affect your results.
⚡️4. Clogged pores-You must wash your face prior to applying any skincare product. Clogged pores will make it difficult for your treatments to absorb into the pores and clear your skin, make sure you are using an appropriate cleanser for your skin type.
⚡️5. Stressful lifestyle-Too much stress will cause more breakouts and irritate your skin more than what you started with. No acne treatment can prevent further breakouts completely if you’re not managing stress in your life. Things like yoga, exercise, and facials can help relax you when dealing with stress. Also be sure to get at least 7-8 hours of rest.
⚡️6. Not applying moisturizer-You should always apply moisturizer after your treatments (or before if your skin is really dry) to prevent dryness/peeling from your acne treatments. Your skin will also be protected by applying the proper moisturizer for your skin type.
⚡️7. Not applying sunscreen-You MUST apply sunscreen everyday even if you only apply your treatments at night. "Using broad-spectrum sunscreen daily will protect your skin from premature aging, hyperpigmentation, and skin cancer" (Verywellhealth.com).
Spot treat breakout prone areas
Keep in mind, you should apply your acne spot treatment all over your face where you experience breakouts to prevent new spots from forming! Picking at your skin willl only cause more breakouts. There are a variety of acne treatments used to treat acne such as benzoyl peroxide for bacteria or and prescription retinoids for moderate to cystic acne. A dermatologist to discover what treatment is best for your skin type.

‘C’ the difference with Vitamin C ⬇️antioxidants
‘C’ the difference with Vitamin C ⬇️antioxidants
#Dermaquest - C infusion serum[products]#[FourStars] Vitamin c is a potent and powerful antioxidant, using it topically protects the skin from free radical damage preventing the break down of collagen, elasticity and premature ageing. So what are free radicals? We are surrounded by free radicals every single day. Free radicals are unstable (missing an electron) molecules found in the environment. Free radicals cause damage as they travel through the skin, seeking their final electron pair, until they find an unfortunate donor who, then, becomes the new free radical. Until the final free radical in the 'free radical relay' stabilises, this reaction continues on and on, puncturing cell membranes, impeding cell function, and even damaging DNA! ⠀⠀ We cannot always control the environment we live in, but we can control what we put on our skin and this I where antioxidants come in. ⠀⠀ Antioxidants are molecules that can donate an electron to free radicals without becoming 'radical' themselves, neutralising the chain of free radicals before they do too much damage. Antioxidants are the skin/body's natural defence against free radicals!⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Using a potent antioxidant like Vitamin C alongside a broad-spectrum sunscreen will help protect your skin from free radicals. It's an essential step in achieving healthy skin that does not prematurely age. It's simple, protect your skin from the damage in the first place. Prevention is better than cure!!⠀⠀ Vitamin C has many other benefits for skin health alongside a powerful antioxidant. ⠀ Topical Vitamin C can reach the dermal layer (second layer) of the skin to boost collagen production. Vitamin C supports the key amino acids in building collagen and supplying these amino acids with an abundance of Vitamin C accelerates collagen production. Vitamin C suppresses the melanocyte hyperactivity responsible for dark spots and hyperpigmentation without changing healthy pigment. Vitamin C is successful in treating hyper-pigmentation (brown spots). #Dermaquest - C infusion serum[products]#[FourStars] Why I choose dermaquest C-infusion serum? I tried them all, all the brands and this is by far is my favourite to use and recommend. Why?! Because it's highly stable. C Infusion Serum uses Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (BV-OSC) an oil-soluble and a highly stable form of the vitamin C family, making it easier to travel to the dermal layer to start building long term change within the skin. While it's not as potent as L-ascorbic Acid (pure Vitamin C), higher percentages are more stable, and it's able to penetrate deeper. Also, because of its high stability, it's unlikely to degrade over time. C infusion Vitamin C serum boasts it can boost collagen by up to 50%. It also contains ferulic acid, a powerful antioxidant to enhance Vitamin C's effectiveness alongside MDI complex, which increases hydration and moisture retention. The texture is a creamy serum with added orange stem cells for extra skin support, and aromatic citrus treat.

Hyaluronic Acid 101 x DermDoctor
Hyaluronic Acid 101 x DermDoctor
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a humectant that famously holds 1000 times its weight in water. It pulls in water from the environment and from the deeper layers of your skin. This ingredient seems to be ubiquitous in skincare products nowadays and it can be found in a lot of moisturizers. Benefits: -Immediately plumps the skin, softening fine lines and wrinkles -Hydrates the skin (specifically high-molecular-weight HA) -Assists in wound healing Dermatologist Tips: -Hyaluronic acid is your first step after cleansing -Must be applied to damp skin! -If you live in a dry climate, make sure to moisturize immediately after -Can be used once or twice a day -Safe to layer with most other skincare ingredients My Top Picks: VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum This contains a high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, which has moisturizing properties and sits on the surface of the skin without causing inflammation. It contains only 11 ingredients making it ideal for people with sensitive skin (like me). Also, Vichy’s proprietary volcanic water has actually been studied and proven to have skin protective and healing properties THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum The price point here is unbeatable. Again, with a simple ingredient list, you’re unlikely to run into issues with allergy or irritation. This contains a multi-molecular-weight HA, which allows you reap additional benefits, in addition to hydration and plumping. This also has matrixyl 3000 peptide, which can stimulate collagen synthesis Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Serum Both high and low-molecular weight hyaluronic acid for added benefits. This also contains glycerin (another amazing humectant) and vitamin B5 (an amazing anti-oxidant) NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% A great option fragrance-free, cruelty-free option from Naturium! This contains multi-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid that hydrates, plumps, and repairs the skin. #CheriePartner
