Crossing the Bordeaux-Line: How to rock a red wine lip
If you’re in a long term relationship with neutrals and petal pinks, it’s time to go deeper. Once you find your shade, you’ll fall drunk in love with the Bordeaux look. Dark lip colors aren’t just for goth kids anymore. Worn right, they’re the height of glamour and sophistication.
Not sure where to start? Cherie has your back. Let’s explore the many entrances to the dark side.
For a flawless finish, start by exfoliating your lips. Deep colors cling to chapped skin, which can ruin an otherwise perfect pout.
Blend 2 tablespoons of sugar with 1 tablespoon of oil, and a drop of honey if you’re feeling fancy. Scrub the sweet concoction across your lips in little circles, then gently rinse. Now you’ve got the perfect canvas.
You don’t have to go to extremes. A stained look is a great way to start, and you can create this effect with any lipstick.
Start by applying the pigment at the center of your lips. Then, using a clean brush or your finger, blend the color outward. If you’re using a matte lip color, add a tiny bit of gloss to help it along. Blot any excess lipstick, then repeat until you get your desired look. Top with a light coat of sheer gloss for subtle shine.
Stick to the Classics
When you wear a Bordeaux lip, your pucker takes center stage. Wondering what to do with the rest of your face? Try an ode to retro Hollywood with a modern gothic twist. Old school divas kept it simple with flawless foundation, a light wash of blush, and winged eyeliner. Who could ask for anything more?
So you’ve got your perfect Bordeaux lip, but your eyes are feeling left out. Pull out that color wheel and get creative! Try a light wash of color in a complementary opposite shade. Bailey’s winey lips have a red undertone, so they sing underneath her icy blue shadow.
Put a Ring On It
Dark liner with neutral lips got a bad reputation in the 90s. Done properly, it can really enhance your pout. If you’ve got thin lips, or want to highlight your natural juicy-ness, this look is for you. Take your lip liner and carefully overline your mouth, filling your lips slightly toward the center. Fill the rest of your lips with a dusky pink, blending slightly with the liner. Top with gloss for an extra full look.
Not one for subtleties? Contrary to popular belief, you can have it all. Alinna balances her eyes and lips by sticking to similar shades. Her neutral shadow and deep blush are in the same family as her lip. Silvery white highlights create a wow factor, tying in her opulent ensemble.
Hyaluronic Acid 101 x DermDoctor
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a humectant that famously holds 1000 times its weight in water. It pulls in water from the environment and from the deeper layers of your skin. This ingredient seems to be ubiquitous in skincare products nowadays and it can be found in a lot of moisturizers. Benefits: -Immediately plumps the skin, softening fine lines and wrinkles -Hydrates the skin (specifically high-molecular-weight HA) -Assists in wound healing Dermatologist Tips: -Hyaluronic acid is your first step after cleansing -Must be applied to damp skin! -If you live in a dry climate, make sure to moisturize immediately after -Can be used once or twice a day -Safe to layer with most other skincare ingredients My Top Picks: VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum This contains a high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid, which has moisturizing properties and sits on the surface of the skin without causing inflammation. It contains only 11 ingredients making it ideal for people with sensitive skin (like me). Also, Vichy’s proprietary volcanic water has actually been studied and proven to have skin protective and healing properties THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum The price point here is unbeatable. Again, with a simple ingredient list, you’re unlikely to run into issues with allergy or irritation. This contains a multi-molecular-weight HA, which allows you reap additional benefits, in addition to hydration and plumping. This also has matrixyl 3000 peptide, which can stimulate collagen synthesis Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Serum Both high and low-molecular weight hyaluronic acid for added benefits. This also contains glycerin (another amazing humectant) and vitamin B5 (an amazing anti-oxidant) NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% A great option fragrance-free, cruelty-free option from Naturium! This contains multi-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid that hydrates, plumps, and repairs the skin. #CheriePartner

Another beautiful HA serum other than Glowrecipe
Another beautiful Hyaluronic acid serum! I am a fan of Farsali products and this is no exception 😍❤️ MOISTURE REPLENISHING SERUM QUENCH by Farsali ✨💧 fARSÁLI - Quench I found it similar to Glowrecipe one in performance and details while the consistency is a little different. It's a hyaluronic acid serum that helps to replenish moisture in the skin by using a unique complex of low and high molecular weight Hyaluronic Acid. The staggered molecular weights of the Hyaluronic Acid are designed to help promote multi-depth hydration on both the skin's surface and in the epidermis. Enriched with replenishing Provitamin B5, the skin's elasticity appears improved as well as feeling and looking softer. ❤️INGREDIENTS: 💧Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid is a lightweight, versatile hydrator that attracts and binds 1,000 times its weight in water. Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid is such a tiny molecule, it's able to penetrate deep into your skin and replenish moisture from within. 💧Hyaluronic Acid High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid, due to the larger molecule size, this Hyaluronic Acid sits on top of the skin, forming an invisible shield that traps moisture. This helps reduce moisture loss from stress, heat, extreme cold and environmental factors. 💧Vitamin B5 Vitamin B5 a naturally moisturizing form of Vitamin B5, otherwise known as Panthenol. This silky vitamin helps replenish skin for a soft and supple appearance. The best part is it's Ingredients list, it's only 7 Ingredients and the formulation is so good that I feel I have been sleeping on this product for this long. It feels so soft and smooth on skin, goes on silky, smooth and doesn't feel heavy. And after few hours skin feels super hydrated and plump. I found this serum to be working the best for dehydrated skin condition. Especially in the colder months. Dehydration leads to broken barrier and dullnes, this targets these issues! It's only 24$ which is a win in my opinion! Their opther products which are my favorite are a bit more expensive than this one! I love it! It goes on perfect under makeup as well! Would you like to try this?
Textured Skin?? 3 Tried & Tested Products!
Up until I really started understanding🤔my skin and how certain ingredients work... I always had textured skin due to acne, blemishes and lack of regular exfoliation. Well here’s my experiences from lessons learnt throughout the years for all those people who are on the same boat as I once was.. I’ve learnt the key🔑to smoother skin is knowing the underlying issue and the reason behind your skin’s uneven texture and incorporating exfoliants in a regulated skincare routine. When treating the uneven skin texture, you need to ask yourself whether or not you are using exfoliants (both physical and chemical)? If your answer is NO, then you have bumpy skin and you need to start incorporating an exfoliant into your skincare routine. Lactic acid is a good place to start as it suits all skin types. However, what really works for my skin type (oily/combination) is Salicylic acid. Be sure to start with an exfoliant by using once or twice a week and only take it up to using it 3 times a week. No more than this please ☺️ If your answer is YES, then ask yourself: “How many times am I using the exfoliants and how strong are they?” If you’re using exfoliants more than 2 to 3 times a week and you still have bumpy/textured skin then there’s a high chance your skin’s barrier is not happy. Work on repairing and strengthening your skin barrier by using products geared towards providing hydration💦and moisturization. Periodically, exfoliating definitely will help improve your skin texture! Here are some of My Tried & Tested Products for bump-free skin: 1. GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder 2. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Peptide 21 Amino Acid Exfoliating Peel Pads 4. dermalogica - Hydro Masque Exfoliant Follow & Glow! ✨ #cheriepartner
