We all feel good when we give ourselves a treat. Setting aside time to take care of our bodies is an undeniable way to keep us glowing. The manner in which you provide care to your nails seamlessly fits into your overall self-improvement plan. With a manicure, not only do you enhance your pretty looks, but also safeguard your health with clean nails. Instead of doing the same manicure every time, you may want to try out various types. Here is a guide to every type of manicure.
American Manicure
This is a simple nail design that mimics your natural nails, characterized by cream-colored based and white tip. As opposed to being stark-white, the manicure type depicts a neutral look and feel. The American Manicure has a pale and translucent color, giving your nails a near-natural look.
What to look out for
The first step to applying the American Manicure involves cleaning and trimming the nails. Afterward, they are shaped in a rounder form, followed by the application of base coats ivory shades. You can decide to either airbrush the nail color or use a brush applicator.
French Manicure
A classic French manicure is an unbeatable way to get a chic and polished look. As an easy-to-do manicure, you are likely to get done in about 45 minutes with minimal strain. To enjoy better results, you may want to let your nails grow longer. Alternatively, you could use acrylics or gels to lengthen them instantly.
What to look out for
Allow about 45 minutes for this. Expect to have one of the simplest manicure application processes. You first paint your nails using clear, or pale, or beige nail polish. After drying, paint the nail tip with white nail polish, forming a crescent shape. Feel free to paint the tip with any of your preferred shades.
Vinylux Manicure
If you love changing your nail polish based on your mood, Vinylux Manicure will work great for you. The polish can go for about a week, after which it requires replacement or replenishment to keep it looking stunning.
What to look out for
You do not require any base when applying the Vinylux Manicure. Apply it in the same manner that you would for nail polish. Give it a few minutes to adhere to the nails. When done, you will notice that it does not chip in the same manner as regular nail polish does. Vinylux manicure top coat durability increases as it gets exposed to natural sunlight.
Acrylic Manicure
Acrylic manicure works best for individuals with long nails. It entails a combination of powder and liquid, which creates a hard protective layer over your natural nails. Acrylic manicure works as a nail extension but creates the impression that it is your natural nail. This is not one of those DIY manicure processes. Rather, you need the help of a professional manicurist.
What to look out for
The application process starts with the buffing of your nail surface to roughen it. Doing so is important because the rough surface makes it possible for Acrylic to stick. The Acrylic mixture, which takes the appearance of gum, is gently brushed over your nails and sculpted to form a nail-shape. The brush is used to smoothen out rough edges. Sufficient time is allowed for drying, after which nail polish is applied.
Gel Manicure
Gel Manicures are some of the long-lasting manicures. They work best for individuals looking for low-maintenance nails but do not want to compromise on their style. When you apply these, you can be sure you will have fewer visits to the salon. The much that is done is the first-time application of the nail polish, which is then dried under UV-light to make it serve you for a long time.
What to look out for
The manicurist starts by doing simple operations such as trimming the nails, cleaning them, and pushing back the cuticles. Next, they apply a base coat, which is followed by two coats of gel polish. The application of these coats follows a subsequent order. That is, the previous one is allowed time to dry before adding another layer. Drying happens under UV light, saving you a significant amount of time. Considering the detailed steps followed before the manicurist is done with your nails, you can expect a gel manicure to last for a much longer time.
Are you already thinking about the manicure that you would like to apply during your next visit to the salon? Do not feel stuck given that there are wide range options available. Make sure that you understand your style and how long you want the manicure to last, before choosing one.

Full Face Using Products from Nov Boxy Premium✨
Hey Cherie Fam! 🍒 I finally received and unboxed my November BoxyCharm premium. For those unfamiliar with Boxycharm, it is a subscription service that gives you 5 full size make up products monthly. The base box comes with 5 items for 25 a month. If you want premium, it is 35. You get 2-3 more items than the base box. I used the star ⭐️ of the show (or rather star of the box) which is Illamasqua artistry palette. This retails for $47 USD. This palette performs well. The mattes were not patchy and the shimmers were impactful. There’s quite a fall out so I recommend doing your eye first before complexion. Then I used DoC single block eyeshadow in the shade Night Sky. This is perfect for a cool toned Smokey eye look. I used this for a pop of blue on my lower lash. #Dose of Colors - Block Party[products]# The realher lip liners come in a duo. I love the packaging because it doesn’t require sharpening. The formula was so pigmented and creamy. I was pretty impressed to be honest. I received a pencil eyeliner from the same brand on my last box and I didn’t like it at all. The Too Faced canary diamond highlighter, Lilly Lashes triple x mascara and Alamar’s gloss are from the pop up. I got them 80% off retail price! I wasn’t a fan of the mascara at first, but after applying it with a lash primer, it was amazing. It lengthened, darkened, and gave me volume. The highlighter was okay. It’s pretty but it’s quite chunky. I’m more of a subtle, glow-from-within type of highlighter. If you’re a fan of blinding highlighters, this is for you. I am a huge fan of the packaging. The lip gloss is ok. I wouldn’t pay full price for it however. If you are subscribed, what is your favorite product from your box? Xoxo, Francesca 💋
Let’s chat hair color!
Let’s chat hair color!
What is a hair toner? A toner is a semi or demi permanent hair color that either adds or neutralizes tone in your hair- that’s where the word toner comes from. As a colorist, I use a toner on 99% of my blondes. A problem I’ve run into in the past is a new client telling me they do NOT want a toner or that they’ve been told they’re only for fixing mistakes! Let’s pause here. Without a toner your hair color will be what I call “raw blonde” aka whatever your color wants to lift to on its own. This can include uneven color from previous touch ups, or yellow or orange undertones that our hair naturally has. A toner is my weapon to help combat these uneven tones and leave your hair as our desired result. So- next time your stylist uses a toner you can ask, what color are we enhancing today?! The answer might surprise you! Xo

Retinol use for beginners from an Esthetician!
Retinol use for beginners from an Esthetician!
If you’re ever wondering how to start using retinol, this is for you! I want to start off by saying that if you’re interested in using retinol you must wear sunscreen daily. If you know you’re never going to wear it PLEASE do not use retinol. With that being said, let’s start off by explaining what retinol is and what it does for you! Retinol is Vitamin A! There are many types of retinol, like retinoids, retinol esters, etc. These are all derivatives of Vitamin A, and are more gentle and less potent versions of pure retinol. Retinol helps speed up our cell turn over rate in our skin. What that means, is that it will help you shed your dead skin cells faster to reveal new skin that’s brighter, smoother and healthier! As we get older, our “cell turnover rate” (CTR) slows down. So we use products like retinol to keep speeding it up so we can stay younger longer! Most people know retinol for treating fine lines and wrinkles, but it’s actually incredible for treating acne and acne scars! This is what I personally use it for. Retinol is strong and acts as an exfoliant so you must be careful with what products you’re using along with it in your regimen. Don’t layer or mix Vit C and retinol as they don’t like each other! Retinol should ONLY be applied at nighttime never in the morning. It makes you photosensitive which is a term to describe sensitivity to the sun. Most people experience some purging in acne, peeling/dryness, redness/irritation, and burning sensations when using a high dose of retinol without buffering it properly. If you use my buffering method properly you will not experience that at all! Now that you understand what you’re putting on your skin, I will explain how to use it! You shouldn’t start retinol by just applying it straight onto your skin without ever using it before. Your skin has to adjust to this new product and should be incorporated gently and slowly. It takes a month for your skin to adjust. You want to buffer your retinol with a gentle moisturizer. Nothing with actives like exfoliants (AHAs or BHAs)! Retinol goes after serums and before moisturizer in your routine! Week 1: use your retinol maximum 2x weekly. Start with one pea size amount of retinol and buffer it with 3 parts of moisturizer! Mix & apply to your skin! Week 2: use your retinol maximum 3x weekly. You’re going to do equal parts retinol and moisturizer. 2 parts retinol and 2 parts moisturizer. Mix & apply to your skin! Week 3: use your retinol maximum 3x weekly. Use 3 parts retinol (equal to a pea size) and 1 part moisturizer. Mix & apply to your skin! Week 4: use your retinol maximum 4x weekly. Apply a pea size amount of retinol directly onto your skin! Then apply your moisturizer directly on top of the retinol! If your skin cant handle retinol alone then stick to the buffering method forever! It will be just as effective as applying it alone! This method will minimize purging and keep your barrier healthy! Hope this helped! ❤️COSRX - Propolis Light Cream

This mist is so fun to use. You can use it with makeup or on its own! I tend to use it on bare skin for a natural glowing look. It is a fine mist that moisturizes, nourishes and helps fight damage. PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Veil Mist I will give this a 5/5! Pros: can be used to refresh makeup can be used on bare skin hydrating calming gives a wonderful dewy glow smells nice Cons: $30 for a mist is a bit pricey but this mist does so much in return 💞 let me know a mist you love!
