Not too long ago, I really didn’t know that I had wavy hair. Like many people I had spent years brushing it and straightening it and not giving it a second thought. Finally, my laziness got the best of me and I decided to stop heat-styling my hair. I think the first step of caring for wavy hair is finding the right stylist. Around the time I decided to stop heat styling my hair I went to a new hair stylist who absolutely transformed my hair. He cut in long layers and took out a lot of the bulk in my hair, and I really think these two things were key to getting my waves to hold up. Having more layers definitely helps enhance the waves and keeps them from falling out. So here is my current styling routine! Wash and condition hair: honestly I am not super picky at all about what shampoo or conditioner I use, but I try to get ones that have less sulfates and silicones in them. If anyone has any great recs for shampoo/conditioner for wavy hair, feel free to drop them below!! Post-shower: I know the Curly Girl Method has you apply your products when your hair is still soaking wet, but I can’t stand standing there, freezing cold with my hair dripping everywhere. So I wrap my hair loosely in a t-shirt as soon as I get out of the shower while I dry off and apply my skincare. Then once I am dressed, I take my hair down and apply my products. Leave-in conditioner: I have talked about this before, but this is the most amazing leave-in conditioner I’ve ever used. #sexyhair - Healthy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner[products]#[FiveStars] Smells amazing and leaves my waves so amazingly soft. I apply this all over my midshaft-ends and lightly rub it in. Wave spray: Again, I’ve talked about this product before but it is seriously my holy grail hair product. #OUAI - Wave Spray I spray this all over my head, seriously you cannot use too much of this stuff. (Side note: I don’t recommend spraying this on dry hair because it can get sticky, but if your hair is wet you are 100% good to go.) Once I have applied this, I flip my head upside down and SCRUNCH. Depending on what I’m doing, sometimes I will plop my hair with the towel again just to keep the wet hair off my shoulders, otherwise I just let it air dry. And voila! I love being at a place where I really just love how my hair looks daily, and I never have to spend more than 10 minutes styling it!

💫 So one of my goals this year has been to embrace my natural wavy/curly hair and stop frying it into submission with a flat iron. The quarantine has really helped me on this mission but so have these these products! 💫 Amika Supernova Shine Cream Blonde- This stuff is phenomenal. I use this cream after I get out of the shower on wet hair. It weighs my hair down just enough that I don’t look like I’ve just gotten into a car accident, but still leaves a natural bouncy wave. This helps so much with minimizing my frizz and increasing shine and the purple tint keeps my blonde from looking brassy. 💫 Verb Ghost Oil- Hands down the best hair oil I’ve ever used. This makes my hair INCREDIBLY soft without weighing it down and helps a ton with defrizzing and adding shine. I’ll sometimes use this instead of the shine cream. 💫 Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil Heat & UV Protective Primer- This was the first oil I ever fell in love with. It’s so light and easy to use...it almost feels more like a spray leave in conditioner than an oil. I prefer this one when my keratin is fresh and my hair is a little more on the oily/flat side because it’s so incredibly light. I love that in addition to smoothing frizz and adding shine it also protects against heat and UV. 💫 Verb Sea Texture Spray- This is only $16 and it’s my favorite texture spray of all time. I’ll use this on wet hair after an oil or shine cream and it really helps define my waves and lock them into place without being crunchy. I’ll also use this on like day 3 hair to refresh and touch up my waves.

Creating Your Skin Care Routine
Creating Your Skin Care Routine
Okay all you PYTs, this one's for you. You're young, you're beautiful, and you haven't thought much about taking care of your skin in the long run. That's okay, but it's time to adult now. I'm about to drop some knowledge on you. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (the AAD) here's how you can start your skin care journey: 1) Pay attention to your skin type and give your skin what it needs. If you have sensitive skin, use products formulated for sensitive skin, if you have dry skin use moisturizing products, and if you have oils skin use oil free or noncomedogenic products. 2) PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION. This is the most important part so Imma say it again 💁🏼‍♀️ PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION. Ultra violet radiation from the sun (or God forbid, a tanning bed) can lead to early skin aging and CANCER. To protect yourself, seek shade whenever possible, wear protective clothing, and use a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen of an SPF of 30 or higher. THAT MEANS NO MORE TANNING ❌ That awesome tan you got from laying out all summer? Yeah, that's damaged skin. Without sun protection, UVA rays are able to penetrate the middle layer of skin (the dermis) and damage collagen fibers resulting in a build up of elastin which then contributes to wrinkles and leathery skin. But more on sun damage in a later post. Sun damage is not a joke 📢 take it from a redhead‼️ 3) Use a retinoid if possible. Retinoids have been dubbed "the gold standard of anti-aging" for a reason, y'all! Retinoids increase the rate of cellular turnover to exfoliate clogged pores and reduce the appearance of fine lines, essentially treating acne and wrinkles simultaneously 👏👏👏 It's recommended to start simple, meaning wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning and at night, use a moisturizer with SPF during the day (don't forget to reapply) and a retinoid at night. If you don't experience irritation with the retinoid, don't deviate from this routine for at least 2 months. That's a ball park of how long you will need to get comfortable with the retinoid. This routine is a great starting (or starting over) point because it allows you to get to know your skin and see what you'd like to address after the retinoid has taken effect. My personal advice is to find a retinoid that you love and build the rest of your skin care routine around it. Pictured is my favorite retinol cream Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Regenerating Face Cream The brand Neutrogena is owned by Johnson&Johnson, which has over 20 years of research and development of retinol and over 20 retinol patents. This particular product was the subject of a clinical trial which resulted in ongoing improvement of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation in patients throughout 1 year of nightly use. Unfortunately, I will have to revisit this AMAZING product in another post because of Cherie's character limit 😢 Stay tuned! And happy skincare hunting! ❤️
✨ powder + spray for the perfect base
✨ powder + spray for the perfect base
I love my BB cream, but wearing it alone can start to look oily through the day. Plus, under eye foundation can start to crepe. Here’s the products I use to supplement it for a flawless base~ with a focus on my favorite powder & spray! 🌟 BASE 🌟 I’ve used the PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Super BB All-In-1 Beauty Balm Cream SPF 30for over a year. It’s a great BB that evens your skin tone, and looks natural. It’s also non-comedogenic, and has moisturizers like Shea butter. Only problem is it can look oily if I spend the day with no powder. 🌟 CONCEALER 🌟 I use the Too Faced - Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealerwhich was sadly discontinued. :( But it’s not matte, nor too heavy for the under eyes. I’ve used the L'ORÉAL - True Match Super Blendable Concealer& bareMinerals - BARESKIN Complete Coverage Serum Concealer, which were both comparable. ⭐️ POWDER ⭐️ In LOVE with the Beauty Bakerie - Flour Setting Powder in Oat (Translucent). It comes in the CUTEST bakery bag packaging when you get it, and it’s a loose powder. It has never felt too cakey, heavy, or overly mattifying. It has a blurring effect on my face. In the 2nd photo, it also seemed to brighten up my skin. My skin is sensitive, but it’s never irritated it- its gentle enough to even set under eye concealer. Beauty Bakerie powders have a large shade range, so deep & olive toned peeps don’t have to worry about a white cast. I’ve bought it 2x with my own money by now. It’s vegan, silicone + paraben-free, and flashback free. After trying other powders, I think this is my holy grail. ⭐️ SPRAY ⭐️ Let’s say you DO actually put too much powder on. A setting spray that makes you glow can help. I really enjoy the COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hydrating Setting Spray It’s affordable at $12, and comes with hyaluronic acid and 🥥 coconut water to moisturize your skin. It smells like fresh coconut with every spritz. With this spray over the powder, my skin looked glowing- but not overly oily. It also helps my eyeshadow melt into my skin, and just... brings the whole look together. Colourpop’s forte has always been eyeshadow imo, but I feel like they’re killing it in the base department now, too. I’ve used a lot of other base products before. I tried the Maybelline concealer, the L’Oreal True Match Foundation, the Urban Decay Naked skin powder and TonyMoly setting sprays. Some were too matte or broke me out, or just did nothing. I will def think of repurchasing these products when I run out (unless I want to try something new !) ✨ TLDR ✨ Use these products for natural looking, glowy (not oily) skin. Suitable for sensitive skin, and the powder has a large shade range.

I was inspired by this video to recreate the look myself: https://m.youtube.com/watch?index=206&list=LLQq6px0dEo4UnI478Y40fdw&v=tLV6YzaRicU Products used: *Too Faced - Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette this palette has all matte shades which is perfect for the look I was going for. Also these shadows are highly pigmented and blend so well. * bellápierre COSMETICS - bellápierre Cosmetics Gel Eye Liner This liner is creamy and can easily be smoked out. * Charlotte Tilbury - Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes! MascaraThis mascara I will be posting a review on soon. * MAC - MAC Lip Pencil in ‘soar’. This is one of my favorite lip pencils. They apply so easily to the lip and create no smudging. The shade is perfect for my skin tone and it creates the perfect contrast of a darker lined lip. * NYX - Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick I chose this lip color to create a light contrast to the lip liner. It blends well and is not overly drying to the lip. * MAC - MAC Powder Blush This blush shade is my go to blush. It blends well and creates a hint of pink to the cheeks. How to: (Follow along with the video) - Apply a cool matte brown shade all over the crease - Cut the crease with a makeup wipe - Apply a matte creme color all over the lid - Apply a darker brown shade into the outer corner and blend - Smoke out the lash line with the same crease shade - Apply a black pencil liner to the lash lines and smoke out a bit - Apply mascara (and false lashes optional) - Apply a darker nude shade lip liner and slightly over line the lips - Apply a lighter nude shade lipstick and slightly blend the top shades together - Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks For reference, I have light-medium, neutral undertone skin and almond shaped eyes. This post is part of a two-part series as yesterday I posted the hair tutorial. 🎶: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q3DB1jJu8w #CheriePartner
VOLUMIZED, BOUNCY CURLS (90’s SUPERMODEL INSPIRE
VOLUMIZED, BOUNCY CURLS (90’s SUPERMODEL INSPIRE
I love the look of a blowout but I do not have the right technique to create one. The brush always ends up tangled in my hair and I get so frustrated. I created this look to fake a voluminous blowout (and it doesn’t involve the brush getting caught in your hair). This look was inspired by the 90’s supermodel era. It is part of a 2-post video and I will post the makeup look tomorrow. Products used - drybar - High Tops Self-Grip Rollers $10these rollers I originally bought to enhance an at home blowout but have been using them to create extra volume while curling my hair they come 5 in a pack with 3 large rollers and 3 smaller rollers. - $16 drybar - Hold Me Hair Clips These are optional to use to secure the rollers in place. The rollers on their own can hold there place but I haven’t fished out how to do that yet. These come in a 4 pack. - #Revlon - Curling wand 2 inch[products]#[ThreeStars] I love this curling iron because the large barrel creates big curls. The only thing is this curling wand tends to not hold a curl for long. - amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray This spray is similar to a hairspray but it it’s volumizing. A lot really goes a long way with this product. If you use too much, the hair can become crunchy. It can be used on wet or dry hair. - drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Lush Scent Living proof. - Full Dry Volume Blast These two products work very similar to each other. They both create noticeable difference in volume when applied correctly. (The drybar product makes your hair smell so good!) To do: - Sperate the top layer of the hair and section off the back. - Take a layer of the top section and spritz the section with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . Use the curling wand to heat up the hair to hold a curl better. With a large roller, roll up the section and secure with drybar - Hold Me Hair Clips . Using a clip to secure is optional as the rollers can stay in place on their own. - Put as many rollers as you feel necessary to create the added volume. I like to keep these rollers at the top sections of my hair. - With the back section of hair, Spritz each section with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . Use the curling iron to create large curls. When releasing the curl, hold it in place for a bit then release. - Let the rollers sit for about 1+ hours. Take out the rollers. Lift up the hair and spray with drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Lush Scent and Living proof. - Full Dry Volume Blast to add lots of volume. Until I learn how to do a blowout on my hair I will be sticking to this method. #CherieCreator
Are You Guilty of This Spot Treatment Mistake?
Are You Guilty of This Spot Treatment Mistake?
Let’s talk about spot treatments. 🎯 I see so many people misusing these creams, especially among those with active acne. ⠀ ⠀ When you have 6-8 pimples at a time, it can be challenging to use spot treatments. Most of the time, people use them all over. When you do this, it can be overly drying and cause more breakouts. 😩⠀ It can be easy to fall for this mistake. But, it’s important that you use these as SPOT treatments to truly help your breakouts instead of making things worse. ⠀ I’ve been using this spot treatment THE PLANT BASE - AC Clear Magic Gel 🍃 It has 7.5% Centella Asiatica that’s hydrating while also effective for treating wounds like pimples. (I’ll share my full review soon) ⠀ Centella Asiatica is rich in amino acids, beta carotene, fatty acids, and phytochemicals. It boasts antioxidant activity at the site of wounds, strengthening the skin and increasing blood circulation.⠀ ⠀ It also contains another familiar ingredient, panthenol, to calm the skin down from irritation. Instead of drying pimples, it works by slowly bringing down inflammation without drying the area around it. ⠀
