5 styles to make your thin hair look thicker

Is your fine hair feeling lifeless, limp and flat? Naturally thin hair needs to be snipped, styled and shaped to encourage bouncier, more voluminous locks. Without the right cut, no amount of products, curling, or pulling will give it the fuller look you want to achieve. With a few standard hair rules and cutting techniques, your thin hair can be on its way to a voluminous style in no time.
To make things easier, we’ve rounded up the best 5 haircuts that magically add volume to thin hair no matter what length you currently have. So when you go in for your next hair appointment, you can present one of these hairstyles for your thin hair and say goodbye to lifeless locks and hello to mega volume.
Long, light layers
For longer hair, over-layering can actually do more harm than good if you want more fullness. Stay away from shaggy layers which can make hair look finer than it is. Opt for layering just around the face and highlight lighter in these areas to really highlight and enhance the fullness of your style. Cameron Diaz has perfected the ‘windblown but interesting’ wave look, thanks to the slightly tapered ends of her style.
Angled lob
Blunt cuts are trending, which is great for thinner hair, because they can actually make your hair appear fuller. A lob is a long bob which is excellent for making thin hair seem thicker. At the salon, ask for a cut that’s right above the shoulders like Margot Robbie’s. This cut creates the appearance of extra weight on the ends. To style: go for a deep side part, apply a generous amount of serum and style straight to enhance that blunt cut.
Medium + side bangs
Another celeb who nails ‘70s side bangs is Dakota Johnson. These long bangs can be flattering on all face shapes and especially work for gals with thinner hair. With bangs parted in the middle and cut to curve the cheekbones, it’s soft and effortless. Bangs add fullness and serve as a distraction from thin hair, especially at the top. To finish off a look like Johnson’s, just add a few spritzes of powder texturizing spray to encourage volume.
Wavy bob
This one's for all our super short styled thin haired gals. Adding a wave to the middle of your hair will give the illusion of a thicker fuller style. A short wavy bob is a haircut between jaw to shoulder-length that’s styled with waves. Tousled strands are on trend for their glamorously low-upkeep requirement and everyone’s excited to jump into this perfect hairstyle!
The ‘swag’
The new swag is everywhere right now, and these easy, flowy bangs will pump up even the finest hair. If you have a lob you could easily transition to the swag. Longer layers and peek-a-boo bangs designed at different lengths depending on your face shape. The key is lots of razored texture and movement in the hair.

✨New Beauty Buys-Ole Henriksen PHAT: Worth it?
I recently got this new face mask that works like a facial, with potent PHAs and Nordic birch sap to exfoliate by @olehenriksen ✨OLE HENRIKSEN - PHAT Glow Facial Mask It's really an interesting mask that works similar to @theordinary's AHA BHA peeling solution, but has Polyhydroxy Acid in it. It's an exfoliating mask that works instantly without causing any irritation or burning at all. I really liked this mask because you can keep it on for 15-20 mins and watch the pink color turn into white then wash it off. This mask doesn't sting or burn but does that exfoliation and gives a glow. It works amazing for my any skin type, I have oily/combination and Acne prone skin and it works great for me. The texture is of this mask very unique. It's goopy and stringy. Unlike clay masks, it's a thick creamy texture that glides on face like gum and washes off without any mess. I am enjoying using this because it gives me results instantly. It is great for dull skin, uneven skin tone and texture, Dark Spots, Fine lines and Wrinkles, Pores, and Dryness. ✨It has : Highlighted Ingredients: - Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs): A gentler alternative to AHAs that help even skin tone and texture through chemical exfoliation. - Nordic Birch Sap: Helps hydrate and nourish skin. - Pink Bentonite Clay: Helps clarify and renew. My experience: -Instantly brightens skin and makes it feel smooth and soft -Improves dark spots / hyperpigmentation -Doesn't irritate skin, doesn't sting or burn -Very gentle on Sensitive skin and works similar to AHA BHA masks. The only downside of this product is the price, It's 50$ for 1.7 fl.oz / 50 mL of product which in my opinion is quite expensive. The amount we get is very minimum and it's not going to last you more than 10 uses. You can get better exfoliating masks or solutions at quarter of the price and they work the exact same. Although I truly liked this product I won't be repurchasing it frequently.
AM I DOING THIS WRONG ?! 🥴

Along with everyone else, I’ve been gushing about Selena Gomez’ Rare Beauty line. The packaging, colours and purpose behind the products is all beautiful. I was so excited to get my hands on the soft-pinch blush, for me fall is the perfect time to switch over from a glowy bronzer to a soft pretty blush. I got the matte finish in ‘Love’ which is described as a warm terracotta colour. I hate to be this person, but I’m not quite sold on this liquid blush. 💪🏼 |PERFORMANCE| I honestly found this so difficult to apply, when following the website instructions to remove the excess from the applicator then apply one dot to either cheek I legit had clown cheeks. It’s truly SO pigmented. Also I have a lot of texture in my skin so I found that the product sometimes sat very obviously in my pores and it wasn’t easy to buff out. I started applying it by removing as much from the applicator as possible then lightly brushing a powder brush across it to pick up as little product as possible and THEN applied that to my cheeks. 🤲🏻 |TEXTURE| Creamy texture that buffs out to a lightweight powdery feel 👃🏻|SCENT| Normal cosmetic scent 💦 |INGREDIENTS| This formula contains a blend of lotus, gardenia, and white water lily to help soothe, calm and nourish skin. Its vegan and cruelty free and is also free of sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban 💸 |VALUE| This blush goes for $26 CAD for 7.5ml, with the amount of pigment in this blush 7.5ml will last you forever. I would like to try this blush again in a softer colour, and give it another chance. But for me right now, it’s not worth it for how challenging it is to apply evenly. Have any of you tried the blush ? What did you like/dislike about it? Rare Beauty - Soft Pinch Liquid Blush

Peach and Lily was my first introduction into Korean skincare and I was enticed by the brand’s clean approach to skincare; its founder strives for clean, non-irritating formulations to better cater to inflammatory skin conditions like acne, eczema, and more. As someone with acne-prone skin that tends to be sensitive and reactive when up against harsh ingredients, this seemed like the perfect brand for me. The products can be purchased through peachandlily.com or at Ulta, which is where I got them. These are my K-Beauty must-haves from the brand. PEACH & LILY - Pore Proof Perfecting Clay Mask If you’re in need of a good clay mask to get deep into the pores without that uncomfortable stripping or drying feeling, then this is the mask for you. It’s formulated with a hydrating and skin-soothing blend of wild cherry, strawberry, and licorice extracts, as well as kaolin clay and bentonite to help draw out even the deepest impurities. It leaves your skin feeling super cleansed and super soft, helping get rid of pore-clogging agents while also nourishing the skin barrier and replenishing it. This is easily my favorite clay mask and I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone, especially those with sensitive skin. PEACH & LILY - Wild Dew Treatment Essence When my skin needs a boost in hydration, I like to replenish it with Peach & Lily’s Wild Dew Essence Treatment, which helps lock in moisture while also restoring moisture and balancing out the skin. This multitasking essence looks and feels like water and contains a blend of antioxidant-rich lotus extract, brightening niacinamide, age-defying yeast ferment, firming adenosine, protective bamboo extract, and nourishing radish leaf extract. Together, these ingredients also help neutralize the effects of sun exposure and environmental stressors. I like to use this after I’ve washed my face or done a mask like I would a toner. Then, I’ll follow up with my serums and moisturizer. At $39, it’s a little on the pricey side for me but it makes a nice dupe for the high-end essences out there. I’d recommend it but I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing when I run out. PEACH & LILY - Overnight Star Sleeping Mask I like to use this sleeping mask when it feels like my skin is super stressed out and I need a break from my routine. It’s packed with antioxidant-rich ingredients like acai berry extract and black ginseng extract and is designed to deeply hydrate and nourish the skin while you sleep and it’s the most gorgeous periwinkle color. The Overnight Star Sleeping Mask’s texture is nothing like I’ve ever seen before; it’s really bouncy and light and not like your traditional masks, which are typically thick creams. Not only does it help boost brightness and improve firmness, but I’ve found that it’s incredibly soothing and calming on my skin. It’s been really great for days where I went a little too heavy with my exfoliating/acne-fighting products and also makes a great follow up for when you use a harsh mask. I’d definitely recommend to a friend, especially if they’re struggling with dry, stressed skin! PEACH & LILY - Kbeauty Rescue Balm This universal salve is designed to deliver instant and lasting moisture wherever it’s needed. I love it because of how it melts into the skin and how fast it relieves dryness. It’s free of mineral oil or petrolatum, the formula pampers you with a luxurious blend of sunflower seed oil, coptis root extract and ceramide. I like to use this at the end of my routine on my lips and cuticles. In the winter, I’ll add it to the corners of my nose or anywhere else that I get dry spots (hands, legs, chest, chin, etc) and it doesn’t clog pores, which I’m grateful for. I’ve also found that it makes for a great highlight balm if you’re looking to add a dewy glow to your highlight. This is great to have handy when dryness strikes, but it can easily be replaced by Aquaphor or Vaseline. I’d recommend it, but I won’t be repurchasing.

💜This is a recent Tatcha haul I scooped from Sephora with my VIB discount & saved up points, but I definitely placed an order today on tatcha.com to take advantage of their 20% off sale. Such a good time to purchase from Tatcha! I grabbed a couple old 5 star favorites like the Gold Spun lip balm & their Japanese blotting papers, as well as some other things I’ve been wanting to check out. Tatcha is actually an American brand, made in Japan🇯🇵, that adheres to Japan’s official safety & purity standards, one of the highest in the world, much stricter than the US (for more on that, check out my last post, or the 2015 documentary on Netflix called Stink) They were recently acquired by Unilever, so I hope they don’t ever change their standards! Tatcha sources all of their botanical extracts, ingredients & actives from plants grown in the most renowned provenances of Japan. 🍵🍚🌊Their formulas revolve around key ingredients Green Tea, Rice & Seaweed, the trinity of superfoods, rich in both nutrients & Japanese history, based on a Japanese document from 1813 which captured the beauty rituals of the time. ➕Their 2x fermented ‘Hadasei-3 complex’ yields over 85 actives like Enzymes, Minerals, Lactic & Amino Acids. It’s been a couple years since I’ve purchased Tatcha products, I’ve always loved their face creams, but we all know Tatcha is pricey!!! I think I was just always into moving on & trying something new, but oh how I missed them! I haven’t had as much luck with Tatcha cleansers in the past, I do adore their rice polish exfoliators 🍚 but personally was never a fan of the ‘One Step Camellia cleansing oil’ scent. I don’t think I’ve ever tried ‘The Deep Cleanse’ but I’m actually most excited to try their new cream cleanser: ‘The Rice Wash’🍚💦 I was also excited to finally try ‘The Silk Peony melting eye cream’ too, so this set was a no brainer! TATCHA - Pure & Glowing Trio set: $72 The ‘Pure & Glowing Trio’ set includes: a full size 1.7 oz Dewy Skin cream ($68) a 1.7 oz Rice Wash cleanser (full size is $35/4 oz) & 0.17 oz Silk Peony eye cream (full size $60/.5 oz) 🍬For now I’m just gonna share texture swatches & ingredients, but stay tuned... I’ll be rating everything in full review of every product coming soon! 💧TATCHA - Balanced Skin Duo The other products pictured are minis from a ‘Sephora Beauty Insider’ 300-point option that included: one mini ‘The Deep Cleanse’ 0.85 oz & one mini ‘The Water Cream’ 0.34 oz TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser Full size: $38/5 oz TATCHA - The Water Cream Full size $68/1.7 oz 💜In the meantime, check out that sale! And tell me your favorite Tatcha product(s) in the comments... or tell me about the ones that didn’t work for you!
DIY BB Cream: My New Fave Trick for Summer
DIY BB Cream: My New Fave Trick for Summer
Note: I am wearing some concealer and strobe stick in the “after” pictures. Okay, so I’ve just learnt this quick and super simple recipe for making your own Tinted Moisturiser! I can’t believe that I’ve never heard of this before, and can’t wait to test it more this summer ☀️ So, I found out that you can create your own tinted moisturiser by mixing some of your favourite face cream with some of your favourite mineral makeup powder! When I moved to Australia, I noticed that my usually dry, fairly sensitive skin was not tolerating foundation during the summer. The high humidity here caused every foundation I owned to break up, powders would bunch to it, and I’d look terrible by midday! Some days, I wished I just hadn’t worn any makeup 😫 I started using the nude by nature - Natural Mineral Cover Foundation SPF 15 on top of a high quality moisturiser and full coverage concealer, and enjoyed the results. However, I always felt a little bit drier than I wanted to. Now, I’m going to be testing out this new trick ✨ Mix a pump of your favourite moisturiser - mine is currently the CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin - with a good couple shakes of your mineral powder foundation in a container. Mix the two ingredients together, and dab it onto your face. You’re boosting your hydration whilst blending the natural mineral coverage into your skin! 😇 I bet this method will be much longer lasting than just slapping makeup on top of slippery face cream. Adding more mineral foundation will increase the pigmentation and coverage of your tinted moisturiser mixture, but I don’t expect to get anything more than light coverage out of this. Still, this is a beautiful fix for uni days, grocery runs, or any time I want to look a bit more vibrant without the effort! Two ingredients that I already own, and a couple seconds of mixing 😍
