😲😲😲The Best Way to Apply Hyaluronic Acid

“Am I doing this right?” We frantically ask ourselves in the mirror as we apply our ultra-hydrating hyaluronic acid treatment to our dry, dull skin. If this sounds like you, don’t sweat it. Read on to learn if you’ve been using it correctly and get an easy solution if your results seem inconsistent.
What Is Hyaluronic Acid?
Is a hyaluronic acid serum or treatment in your daily repertoire of beauty essentials? If not, it should be. When it comes to go-to ingredients for hydrated, plump skin, this fundamental ingredient is at the top of everyone’s list. While there’s a ton of hype surrounding this skin care ingredient, what exactly IS it? Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in our skin. This intensely hydrating molecule plumps and moisturizes the skin by binding water to collagen and trapping it in the skin. This acts as a type of lubrication for our eyes and joints but when applied topically, it helps to retain collagen, making your skin appear dewier, glowier and ultimately way more hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is what’s known as a humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment to your skin. This is why HA is SO hydrating.
Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid
While HA is incredibly moisturizing and plumping, it has several other amazing benefits such as protecting your skin's natural barrier against environmental hazards (like UV damage), tightening your skin's overall complexion, smoothing uneven texture, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, and helping to stimulate skin cell regeneration (which leads to a glowing complexion).
Another reason why we absolutely love hyaluronic acid? It can benefit all skin types! While it’s obviously great for dry and mature skin, oily complexions can also reap its benefits. If you suffer from oily skin, you may shy away from the use of oils on your skin, even though they're essential in keeping your skin hydrated. Hyaluronic acid offers a shot of hydration to oily skin using a lightweight formulation that feels weightless on the skin. It’s also a great option for someone who has sensitive or acne prone skin because of its antioxidant properties. Pregnant mommas can rest easy knowing it’s a safe product for them to use, too!
How to Use Hyaluronic Acid
If you’ve used hyaluronic acid before and gotten inconsistent results, you’re not alone. Many people aren't aware of the missing ingredient that needs to be combined with HA in order for it to work. Hyaluronic acid needs to be used with a moisturizer to receive its full spectrum of benefits! Why? Because HA needs to be combined with a lipid to truly penetrate the skin and hydrate from within. Our experts warn that if you don’t apply hyaluronic acid with a lipid (found in most moisturizers), you could actually be drying your skin out instead of hydrating it. As we said before, HA is a humectant that works by drawing moisture from the environment onto the surface of your skin. Without that oh so important layer of moisturizer on top, the hyaluronic acid will draw moisture away from your skin, negating its benefits (that’s why you may even experience some tightness).
Hyaluronic acid also works well with other anti-aging ingredients including vitamin C. Vitamin C not only brightens and evens out your skin tone, it aids in collagen production. Pairing this mighty ingredient alongside hyaluronic acid encourages hydration, plumps your skin, and keeps you looking bright, smooth, and glowing.
How to Apply Hyaluronic Acid
Like with any new addition to your skincare routine, you should start out slow. Apply your hyaluronic acid serum once per day to see how your skin reacts to it. If you find your skin is loving it, you can start applying twice a day, in the AM and PM. Start by cleansing your facial skin as you normally would. Next, try applying a facial mist to really take your routine to the next level. After your facial mist, it’s time for your hyaluronic acid serum and then you can finish with a moisturizer.
If you’re looking to add hyaluronic acid into your routine ASAP, some experts are sharing their favorite serums that contain this plumping miracle ingredient:
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Besides being vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without oil, alcohol, silicone, nuts, and gluten, this cult favorite is affordable and one of our favorites on this list. It works well with every skin type and promises ultra-hydration because of the use of three forms of HA.
SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier
Skinceuticals is one of the best hyaluronic acid serums we’ve ever tried. Seeing results almost instantaneously, this formula is great for all skin types and promises to “amplify” your skin's current hyaluronic acid levels. The unique formulation improves firmness, smoothness, and plumpness.
Glossier Super Bounce Serum
Glossier’s formulation promises mega hydration because they also include three different forms of hyaluronic acid. It’s also formulated with a special proprietary blend they call “soothing pro-vitamin B5” that is great for keeping skin soft, smooth, and supple. This formula also isn’t sticky or tacky, so it’s extremely comfortable to wear day or night!
It’s no secret we love this beneficial, skin boosting ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is perfect for every skin type, is gentle enough to use twice a day (once you moisturize!), and it offers countless benefits to help improve your complexion. Have you tried hyaluronic acid? What were your results?

I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
☁️This 2-part treatment system takes 20+ minutes. You do it on dry hair before you shampoo & condition. First you saturate your hair with Nº 0, wait 10 minutes, don’t rinse, then add Nº 3 & leave on for an additional 10+ minutes. Nº 3 can be used alone, but Nº 0 is meant to be used only as a precursor for Nº 3. I originally bought this for my bf’s heavily damaged hair, but he’s so lazy about using anything😑 So finally we made it happen. My hair isn’t currently damaged from bleach like it used to be, however, because I have a neurological disease, some days I’m in so much pain, tossing & turning in bed all day, I pull my hoodie over my head & use a heating pad on it. Days like this my thick hair becomes a wreck. Swipe for photos. I definitely get a lot of breakage around my hairline, I’m so over it lol, I’ve got silk pillowcases coming in the mail💤💌 I picked a “bad hair day” like this from the other day after my flareup calmed down to try this 2-part treatment system for you guys. I’m aware that no hair treatment can make a strand of hair full length again once it’s snapped short... I was more curious to see what this treatment could do for my bf’s hair. He washes it waaay too much because he thinks it’s dirty due to his job, which gives his hair tons of sun damage. I was mortified when he told me he washes it twice a day! Don’t do this! It strips away your natural oils! His hair is so brittle & dry! OLAPLEX - No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Kit $28/5.2 of Nº 0 + 1 oz of Nº 3 Everyone seems to be raving about Olaplex products, so I had my hopes set pretty high. This may be an unpopular opinion, but this treatment didn’t impress me much. I have to use sooo much product for my hair & it’s only shoulder length. My hair is extremely thick, I’m no stranger to using extra product, but this was a little ridiculous. I used almost the entire full size Nº 0 & every last drop of the sample size Nº 3. The amount I used on my bf was quite little. His hair is very thin & only like 4-5” long. OLAPLEX - No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment $28/5.2 oz He thought I was using a lot, because the nozzle dispenses so slowly (which is good I guess because the consistency is like water) but the level only went down about a half inch. Not really any scent. I found it so time consuming to do this step myself. The applicator made me feel like I was in highschool using box dye. I actually transferred it to an empty (& clean) Briogeo spray bottle because I was so frustrated. It dispensed it a lot faster, but still be very careful. I had a cut on finger & it burned really bad, so don’t get it in your eyes! OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector $28/3.3 oz Similar to typical hair conditioner in texture/consistency/scent-easy to apply. THE RESULTS: His hair: still fried This just wouldn’t be feasible for my hair considering I emptied a $28 bottle for 1 use. Hair was soft after nothin special.
💁🏻‍♀️My Go-To “Extra” Makeup Look 💁🏻‍♀️
💁🏻‍♀️My Go-To “Extra” Makeup Look 💁🏻‍♀️
Alright so a lot of people may have an everyday makeup look, but do you have an everyday EXTRA makeup look??? Well, here’s mine… It’s the perfect mix between glamorous and natural which I loveeee. I also think it’s a pretty achievable look and there aren’t too many crazy techniques you need to use in order to get it either. So I’ll start with the eyes, it’s just the foxy smokey look that’s been trending all over social media. I use tons of neutral and brown colors to achieve a more natural and smokey effect. The important thing is to build up the dark browns and black eyeshadow. For the fox eye effect, I like to use a piece of tape to get it really sharp. The trick is to always start with the lighter colors and blend up to the black. Also, line your waterline and inner corner with a black pencil to make it look even smokier. Next up, we got the lips. It’s the staple red lipstick but with a dark twist. I personally don’t think bright red lipstick complements my skin tone so I love adding a bit of brown. I use NYX soft matte lip creams to achieve this and the main lippie colors are “Madrid” and “Berlin”. You can add a lip gloss if you prefer, honestly, any clear gloss works. I like using Too Faced Lip Injection Plumping Lip Gloss for that pounty look hehe Last but not least, the freckles!!! This is a small element that ties everything together. It’s what makes it look a lot more natural and effortless. Don’t forget to also use some blush to make your freckles look more realistic, but my method for drawing freckles is with brown eyeshadow powder on a brush. And that’s pretty much all to it! Looks kinda complicated but actually pretty simple and great for any occasions you want to look a bit more extra for!! #CheriePartner
🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
Happy Saturday Cherie Sisters 👯‍♀️ 💕 I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I have been loving cool toned eyeshadows lately. I think they are the perfect tones to wear during fall and winter time so I purchased my first Natasha Denona product and got the glam palette. I fell in love with the color story and can see myself reaching for this palette often. So far the eyeshadows feel so luxurious. They are pigmented and I can do a look with just one dip. They blend themselves too so doing a look isn’t too time consuming. NATASHA DENONA - Glam Eyeshadow Palette When I saw that Colourpop announced their That’s Taupe collection, I knew I had to get the eye palette because it looked very similar to my glam palette. I wanted to do a comparison so you guys can decide if you need to spend $65 for the Natasha Denona one. So far these are up to par with Colourpop quality. The eyeshadows are pigmented and they included a couple super shock formula on the palette. These are great quality for the price. #Colourpop - That’s Taupe[products]#[FiveStars] So the Colourpop palette isn’t a complete dupe to the ND one, but there are some shades that are really similar to each other. Once blended on the eye, you can hardly tell the difference. The only difference between the two is the quality. The ND palette was pigmented after one dip and blended quickly. I had to dip 3-4x in the CP pan to match the pigmentation for the ND one. It also took time blending it out. Overall, the end results are the same, but it took half the time to work with the ND palette because it was much easier to work with. If cool-toned eyeshadows aren’t you your alley, but still want it on your collection, I say stick with CP. also if you don’t mind spending the extra time building up the color and blending then save the $51 difference. If you are someone who is looking for quality then definitely go for the glam palette. This will save you time and you won’t use as much product because it’s so pigmented. Do you prefer cool tones or warm tones? Xoxo, Francesca 💋
