Face Masks: Skincare the Korean Way
Yay!!! My favorite! My skin savers! Face masks. Clay, sheet, peel off, sleeping, eye, etc. all masks are great and I highly recommend doing one at least every two days. I do it every other day and maybe a few days in a row if I’m feeling it. Recently, being in quarantine has been leaving me with a lot of time where I am not outside hanging out, so I practiced self care to another level. So, whenever I’m in my room, bored, or watching tv in the family room, I have a mask or a pack on. Sometimes I’m feeling fancy, so I do multiple masks. Of course, this isn’t necessary, it’s just something I like to do for myself. It’s like an at home spa day and it makes me feel 10 times better once I’m done. Let’s talk masks. In the cover picture, you will see one pack, two sheet masks, one mud mask, one sleeping mask, and a lip mask. There aren’t the only ones I use, they are just the ones I’ve been using during quarantine since they are easily accessible at convenience stores like CVS and Walgreens.
I am going to go in order. First, the Super Power Baby 3 Step Ultra Moisture Mask from A by Bom. This is great because it has three in one. Kind of. There are 3 steps: eye serum, soothing cream, and then a hydrating sheet mask to finish it off. The eye serum is made with aloe vera and green tea extract, so it improves your skin elasticity. I like to use the left over eye serum for other parts of my face that need some tcl (tender love + care). This cream contains hyaluronic acid, vitamins, jojoba oil, and shea butter to moisturize and provide vitality for the skin. The mask also has hyaluronic acid, helping to add moisture as well. Additionally, it has ceramides to retain the moisture and apple extract for nutrients~! I find that this mask keeps my skin plump, bright, firm, and energized. Best part, this set was only about $4.50 per pack.
The next mask to the right of it is the Tumeric Face Mask from The Creme Shop. This was about $3 per mask. I really like this because the tumeric corrects any discoloration and calms my skin when its irritated, mostly when I break out. Tumeric is also really good for reducing (bad) oils, reducing dark circles, tightening loose skin, hydrating, and absorb other harmful substances. No wonder it’s considered sacred in some cultures ㅋㅋ
The cute teal one with the tiger on it is also from The Creme Shop. The Creme Shop has a lot of cute masks, lemme tell you. This has a tiger face character on it and every time I put in on it’s SUPER CUTE!!! It’s the
the CRÈME shopCica-Mend Animated Tiger Face Mask
This mask is infused with Centella Asiatica, Cica, which is a type of Chinese medicine. Known as “tiger grass”, wounded tigers would treat their injuries by rolling around in Cica because of Cica’s healing and regenerative properties which calmed inflammation and irritation. The Cica serum will also help you heal and repair your skin. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with sensitives skin, acne prone skin, and anyone who is having one of those moments where your skin is in a bit of trouble… It’s ok, we all have one of those. I am going through one as I am typing this post. In terms of price, I can’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure this was around $3 a mask as well.
The SooAe mud mask at the very end is definitely my favorite mud mask. Only $2.99. Has enough product to use three times if you store it in an plastic baggy and push the air out of it. It’s
Soo'AEHemp Dreams Mud Mask
As I found all the other masks, this was at CVS (not at Walgreens tho…). This mud mask is has hemp seed oil and green tea to clarify and hydrate skin. I definitely steer away from mud masks because they are heavier and a nuisance to rinse off, but this one is super light and thin. NOT a problem AT ALL! If you use a THIN layer all over, you can use it three times. I should make a video on how great this stuff is. I should also mention that this also has Cica in it for healing, so it’s a really good mask. I would recommend this to all skin types for hydration and a bit of extra cleansing.
Moving onto the sleeping mask, the yellow one, it’s
SulwhasooOvernight Vitalizing Mask
This is on the more expensive side, which is why this is the only Sulwhasoo product I regularly use and IT WORKS, so it’s worth the money. In the picture, you see the small size which I got at the airport so I could use on the plane ride home. The reason this is shown instead is because I have no more of the big bottle… The big 118ml bottle is about $52, so I use it in small amounts once a week. You should apply a THIN layer of this at the VERY END of your skincare routine. This is one of those less in more kind of product. The scutellaria root, walnut extract, and Angelica Acutiloba provides nourishment and moisture to skin while you sleep. When you wake up, your skin looks super energized, even after you do your morning skincare. It is does have those traditional Korean herbal medicines, so it definitely has an acquired scent, but I am used to it because my grandmother always makes me this very strong scented, strong tasting, not always tasty herbal medicine teas. Now, all that work worked in my favor and is actually helping me, but just a fair warning for people who aren’t my grandmother’s grandchild.
The last one is the
LANEIGELANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask
that I have already talked about so I’ll do a super quick rundown. This is super moisturizing, you’ll wake up with not chapped/cracked lips and it’s pink, so of course it’s pretty. It has a peachy-strawberry like scent which is pleasant and the $20 product lasts for a reallly long time. It’s sticky for the first few minutes, but two minutes is worth it in the long run. Think of it as a really long-lasting, effective chapstick.
Alrighty. Now that I’ve finished rambling about masks and raving over literally every company, I will end this post here, I hope you enjoyed. Let me know if you’ve used any of these and what you think, my personal twitter is open now (@EunjooPark17) for questions and comments. I recently got a lot of DMs from you guys, so that’s good news~! Speaking of my twitter, my main (non-personal) twitter just hit 3.5k, so I’m in a really good mood. It’s literally been 4 months since I’ve opened it up. And now I’m off to write my third promised post to you guys~
Textured Skin?? 3 Tried & Tested Products!
Up until I really started understanding🤔my skin and how certain ingredients work... I always had textured skin due to acne, blemishes and lack of regular exfoliation. Well here’s my experiences from lessons learnt throughout the years for all those people who are on the same boat as I once was.. I’ve learnt the key🔑to smoother skin is knowing the underlying issue and the reason behind your skin’s uneven texture and incorporating exfoliants in a regulated skincare routine. When treating the uneven skin texture, you need to ask yourself whether or not you are using exfoliants (both physical and chemical)? If your answer is NO, then you have bumpy skin and you need to start incorporating an exfoliant into your skincare routine. Lactic acid is a good place to start as it suits all skin types. However, what really works for my skin type (oily/combination) is Salicylic acid. Be sure to start with an exfoliant by using once or twice a week and only take it up to using it 3 times a week. No more than this please ☺️ If your answer is YES, then ask yourself: “How many times am I using the exfoliants and how strong are they?” If you’re using exfoliants more than 2 to 3 times a week and you still have bumpy/textured skin then there’s a high chance your skin’s barrier is not happy. Work on repairing and strengthening your skin barrier by using products geared towards providing hydration💦and moisturization. Periodically, exfoliating definitely will help improve your skin texture! Here are some of My Tried & Tested Products for bump-free skin: 1. GOOD MOLECULES - Pineapple Exfoliating Powder 2. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Peptide 21 Amino Acid Exfoliating Peel Pads 4. dermalogica - Hydro Masque Exfoliant Follow & Glow! ✨ #cheriepartner
Dermatologist opinion: facial oil dupe
Marula oil is extracted from the marula tree nut found in Africa. Benefits of marula oil: ✔️Rich in antioxidants- which help fight off free radicals from pollution and UV exposure. ✔️Anti-aging – the antioxidants also help with its anti-aging properties to help keep the skin looking youthful. ✔️Rich in fatty acids- (oleic and linoleic fatty acids) that soften and moisturize the skin. ✔️Lightweight - What’s great about marula oil is that it hydrates the skin and absorbs well without being too heavy or greasy. ✔️Immediate glow- I definitely notice my skin is radiating after I wear this oil. I love to use this instead of a moisturizer as a last step in my nighttime skincare routine, especially during the winter months! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil Drunk elephant - $72. yes the packaging is beautiful, but that price point is way too high. It only has one ingredient: marula oil. Why is it so expensive? It is likely due to the processing. It is cold pressed with a patented process of unheated extraction. It is unclear if this process is necessary to maintain all of the benefits of marula oil. The Ordinary - 100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil Ordinary- $8. Also 100% cold pressed marula oil. The processing may be slightly different. The application is a little less light weight, and for this reason slower to absorb, but still blends easily into the skin and gives an immediate glow. Final thoughts: after trying both, I would choose the ordinary product because they are both so similar! What would you choose?
Best Hyaluronic acid on the market!! 🍑😍
I recently won this Plum Plump Hyaluronic serum by Glowrecipe in @cherie New Beauty Buys Giveaway!! ❤️ GLOW RECIPE - Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum I am a huge fan of Hyaluronic acids especially for Oily/Acne prone skin types and dehydrated skin. Hyaluronic acid. To the less beauty savvy, it may sound like something you don't want to put anywhere near your face (we all took chemistry lessons at school, just sayin...). But, what if we told you that hyaluronic acid actually holds the key to smooth, flawless and hydrated skin? Yes. It's actually a gooey substance that's naturally produced in our skin mainly in skin tissues and eye area which works as humectant meaning it draws moisture from surrounding into the skin and helps it retain the moisture by eliminating Trans epidermal water loss!! It's truly amazing and works at targeting many skin concerns mainly aging, dehydration and dullness and if used correctly it gives you that healthy plump looking skin. 🍑Now, What is this product?? Combined with vegan collagen and vegan silk protein, this lightweight, oil-free serum deeply hydrates dry, dehydrated skin and diminishes the appearance of visible fine lines for healthy, bouncy, youthful skin. 🍑 Key Ingredients: ✨Plum (3 types): Three antioxidant-rich plums - Kakadu, Illawarra, and Burdekin - hydrate, nourish, and rejuvenate skin instantly and overtime, and work together with hyaluronic acid for intense, juicy hydration and a youthful appearance. ✨Hyaluronic Acid (5 weights) A powerful blend of multi-weight hyaluronic acids (ultra-low, low, medium, high, ultra-high molecular weights) that deeply hydrates layers of skin for plump, bouncy skin. Multi HA has multiple molecular weights in one ingredient, and forms a 3-D sponge like film to hydrate each layer of your skin Tremella HA is obtained from fermentation of Tremella mushroom and is super high molecular level to reduce moisture loss on your skin’s surface Flashfill HA is a next-gen of HA that improves the bioavailability of the Hyaluronic Acid in the skin and lasts longer in the skin Bio HA is a powerful HA with moisturizing properties to help water retention ✨ Vegan Collagen & Silk Protein Potent, plant-based powerhouse ingredients that help support a healthy-looking skin barrier by guarding against free radicals and hydrating skin. ✨Vitamin B5 Helps to repair skin by hydrating, soothing, and rejuvenating, resulting in a healthy skin barrier. This serum performs so well on skin, it's not so sticky yet enough sticky to work as a good primer under makeup. It has made my skin look plumper and youthful in just two uses! I am using it consistently to see how my skin responds to it and I love it so far! As mentioned above, its silky formula and texture makes it really unique for a good 5 weight HA serum! Have you tried this serum??

The Art of Cleansing - need to know skin tips⬇️
A Ph balanced cleanser is key for healthy skin! Why is the Ph of your cleanser important? First of all, you need to understand your skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body which we often forget and on the skin's surface, there is a fine and a slightly acidic film known as the acid mantle. The acid mantle is formed through the combination of epidermal lipids, sebum, water, urea and amino acids, giving the skin an acidic environment and a Ph of 4.6-6. The acid mantle acts as a barrier to protect the skin from harmful bacteria and viruses. The acid mantle also retains water in the skin, which supports hydration levels, prevent Transepidermal Water loss (TEWL) and gives us the dewy glow we all crave. ✨ The health of the skin is relying on a well functioning acid mantle and barrier. For optimum skin health, the acid mantle needs to stay between a Ph level 4.6-6, and your cleanser ideally should match it. Unfortunately, many cleansers are at ph levels 9-10 (more alkaline). Higher ph cleansers are still removing dirt and cleaning the skin, but they're also compromising the acid mantle's Ph, therefore, making the skin susceptible to bacteria, resulting in acne, irritation, eczema, inflammation, and dehydration. The acid mantle can recover, but it's not in the skin's best interest to use high Ph (alkaline cleansers) I recommend avoiding cleansers containing Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). SLS is a detergent and responsible for the lather and foam a cleanser produces and leaves the skin feeling squeaky clean. (Your skin should never feel squeaky clean.) SLS commonly found in cleansers, body washes, and shampoos. SLS, causes a cleanser to become overly alkaline, resulting in an unbalanced acid mantle and depletes the skin of its natural oils leading to irritated and inflamed skin. The skin starts to overproduce oil to compensate for what SLS has stripped away, which explains why the skin goes into a cycle of oily to dry because the acid mantle is repeatedly being compromised and in a state of imbalance, resulting in persistent skin issues. ✨Thankfully the skin is smart and will recover when given the right tools.✨ ✨Cleansing✨ I recommend cleansing the skin morning and night with a Ph balanced SLS free cleanser and always double cleanse at night as SPF and makeup stick to the skin along with pollution picked up throughout the day, so double cleansing is essential. My go-to for evening cleanser is #Dermaquest - Essential daily cleanser[products]#[FourStars] Dermaquest's Essential daily cleanser alongside my Foreo Luna cleansing tool - deets below.FOREO - LUNA Mini 2 Facial Cleansing Brush Fuchsia 🙅🏻♀️Try not to skip cleansing at night no matter how sleepy you are, sleeping with your makeup on goes far beyond clogged pores. Sleeping with your makeup on in the long term will prematurely age your skin due to the breakdown of collagen from environmental pollutants left on the skin. Keep reading in comments ⬇️
