Here’s my go-to for #WFH makeup. 💗 I don’t know about you, but at least every other day I like to wear some makeup, even if I don’t leave my house. It gives me a sense of routine. ⠀ ⠀ Plus, this one has sunscreen, as well as other anti-aging and antioxidants to help your skin at the same time. 🌟 ⠀ ⠀ What about you? Are you turning towards any Cc cream or foundation while at home?
I can’t be the only one who likes to wear a little “something something” even when I’m stuck at home all day right?! Even if it’s just covering up my blemishes, brushing up my brows and putting on a light layer of gloss, it always makes me feel better and become more productive. Here’s what I do most days: I love this high coverage concealer. I use the tiiiiniest amount just to pinpoint conceal any small scars or blemishes on my face. I don’t use this under my eyes because it’s way too heavy for that! It lasts so long on your face AND lasts you a while as a product too- I’ve been using this same tube for more than a year! (Yes, I should probably get a new one soon 🙃) I can’t stress how important brows are to your face. They add structure and frame the eyes! I don’t need much defining in my brows because I prefer a more natural look rather than super sculted- so a volumizing brow gel is perfect! This gel just beefs them up and adds a bit of color. A little gloss always makes me feel fresh and put together! This gloss isn’t sticky and gives quite a bit of color which I love. This red shade is also super flattering and extremely glossy!
I know during this time we all have to stay at home and no traveling, but I think we can also give ourselves some great makeup looks and take us back to the wonderful time we had. So today I want to share my go-to makeup that I always do when I go for a vacation. Because I hate winter and cold weathers, so I usually go to the warm places like island nations and beaches. The orange makeup will look beautiful under the sunshine and also a good choice for photoshoots. The first thing I want to mention is the foundation that I can’t live without, the All Hours Longwear Natural Matte Foundation from YSL in shade B20, $54 for 0.84oz/25ml. Even though I have dry skin, this long-wear foundation will not set in my smiling lines or pores, and it is definitely a full-coverage foundation that will cover up to 80%-90% of my pores, acne marks and dark circles. Besides, a little bit of this goes a long way, and a small pump is enough for me, so don’t waste! About the shades, I feel like this collection can be a little lighter than the other foundations of YSL, and B20 is a little bit lighter than my skin tone, so I recommend trying it in the store before purchasing. #YVES SAINT LAURENT - All Hours Longwear Natural Matte Foundation The next step is bronzer and blush, and they are both from Colourpop. I always put them in a pan so I can carry them during traveling. I use the Private Party bronzer and the So Retrograde blush. The bronzer will make my skin look warmer without being too orange or deep. And this shimmery blush is a burnt orange with gold pearl inside, so I can save the highlighter. The only thing I have to mention is that the blush is very pigment, so I only dip once and tap my brush before putting it on my face. #COLOURPOP - pressed powder blush For eye palette, I mentioned before that I always take the Whatever palette from Colourpop with me when I go for vacations, and I use the colors I marked in the picture to create a very easy but glam eye look. Finally, to match the topic, I will use a matte lipstick named Marrakesh from Mac Cosmetics, which is an orange-brown shade and has been very popular since it launched. And I feel like it will not dry my lips even it is a matte formula, which is nice because I will stay outside for a long time and don’t want to see my lips peeling. #MAC - Matte Lipstick Here are the products I use to create a quick and easy look for vacation, and I feel happy to do it again during this quarantine time, and I hope you enjoy it!
This is a very simple cheek/lip color combo I’ve been wearing lately when I want to feel cute even while stuck at home. I’m a light skinned Mexican girl and I have a sorta neutral, more yellow undertone so sometimes it’s hard to find cute pinks that look good on me but #Glossier. - Cloud Paint in puff is an exception! It’s such a pretty pink color and I’m a huge fan of the pillowy texture and how long they last. Probably my favorite Glossier makeup product. I like to pair a cute pink blush with just good ol’ clear lip gloss, I see it as such as a classic combo for me and it’s super girly. My favorite clear glosses at the moment are the #Glossier. - Lip Gloss and #KYLIE COSMETICS - High Gloss in ‘Crystal’. The Glossier gloss is really nice, applies nicely on the lips and doesn’t have added scent so it’s great of you’re sensitive to fragrance. It’s what I’m wearing on these photos 😌 The Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss is one of my favorite formulas ever, period. It’s such a nice gloss, super glossy and a lot less stickier than other glosses I’ve tried and at $16 isn’t super expensive plus it lasts a good while!
Doing my makeup with a random color generator for ideas has been fun ❤️ Shadows: yellow and inner corner green are pigments from Beauty defiance the outer and under blues/greens are from the Jaclynhill x Morphe brushes Jaclyn hill palette Glitter: BenNye makeup in Opal Lips: NYX cosmetics lingerie liquid lip in the shade Exotic Foundation: Loreal lumi fondation Lashes: Amorus USA faux mink lashes
During social distancing, I’ve been trying to keep thinking positively through self care. I’ve been playing around with makeup and testing out new looks using products I already have at home. Enter: this foxy eye look which is a far cry from my usually minimalist “no makeup” makeup look. I’m pretty proud with how this turned out and it has some cool 90s vibes. Plus, it showcases some of my favorite (affordable) makeup products!
At home wellness: what does this mean to you? To me it means getting creative, unfortunately with my anxiety I had to take time off work because I work in health care were we are constantly working at it was too much for me with recent events. I think at home Wellness is being able to express myself through makeup because this makes me happy. Do you want to see more makeup looks ?

Debunking Skincare Myths in 2020 – Fact Vs. Fiction!
We all fall victim to skin myths. Whether they’re passed on by our family, peers, or unproven beauty claims, it’s hard to know what is fact and what is fiction. In an e-commerce landscape where anyone and their mother can make a new skincare line, you have to be especially careful about where these products are being sourced from. Sadly, not everyone has your best interest at heart. This is partly why the Millennial and Generation Zers are notorious for being ‘brand loyal.’ The younger generations (under the age of 40), tend to trust major brand names like Google, Apple, and Starbucks, as compared to smaller brands they’ve never heard of. The same goes for their cosmetology products. Once you find an established brand that is reputable, affordable, and works for your skin – you are hooked! Right? This is all wonderful, and when you find an effective product, you should use what works for you. But! With so much false information being spread across the internet like wildfire, someone needs to debunk these myths from sources that we can trust! Let’s break down a couple of them by fact vs. fiction, shall we lovelies? Facts · Plastic Packaging Should Be Avoided Exposure to extreme temperatures can ruin your product. This is true, regardless of how high-quality the product is. You must be careful about originating countries that are shipping a product contained in plastic, especially during the hot summer months. Your skin is like a sponge. It is the largest organ on your body. So the plastic from those containers will seep into the product, therefore seeping into your skin. You can read more about this from The National Library of Medicine’s Recent Study regarding Parabens in plastic products that lead to skin toxicity through absorption. The Fix: Go for product packaging that is - - In glass jars - Reusable/Recyclable/Sustainable - Without any packaging, such as Lush’s Shampoo Bars · You Can’t Use Just Any Cleanser Everyone’s skin is unique. If you suffer from oily skin, acne, or sensitive skin, be careful about selecting a product that is too intense. If the products burn or feel painful, they’re likely stripping your skin of all of its healthy oils too. The skin is a high-functioning machine that naturally knows the pH it should possess. The Fix: This does not mean you ought to stop washing your face. No! Please wash your face! But avoid products that strip your face of its natural glow, as this often leads to increased breakouts. This may take some experimentation, but you will want a product that isn’t too harsh, painful, or intense. Fiction · You Do Not Need Sunscreen if It’s Not Sunny Outside False! Clouds are not sufficient protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays - which are the leading cause of premature aging. The Skin Cancer Foundation writes that clouds only protect against roughly, “25%” of harmful UV rays. That’s simply not enough. The Fix: Make sunscreen a daily part of your morning ritual. Some tips for finding your perfect fit are to select a sunscreen that contains/is: - Oil-free, especially if your skin is blemish-prone or you easily experience clogged pores. - Broad Spectrum, which simply means that it defends against both UVA and UVB rays. - Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide, both of which naturally reflect sun rays. · A Good Product Will Remove Wrinkles Yes and no. Many anti-aging products can significantly reduce wrinkles, diminish the appearance of fine lines, and moisturize while offering the look of ‘plumper skin.’ This is all true. However, many deep-set wrinkles cannot be removed by a topical treatment alone. Due to this, leading experts in skincare and dermatology believe that: The best treatment against wrinkles – Is prevention! The Fix: Avoid practices that are expediting the rate at which wrinkles appear on your face. Simultaneously, you should work to prevent wrinkles before they establish a permanent home on the residence of your face. Factors that increase the rate at which wrinkles set are: - Smoking tobacco - Sun exposure (UVA and UVB rays) - Alcohol and substance abuse (allow your liver to detoxify) - Air pollution and free radicals - Poor nutrition - Not enough sleep Of course, many of the influences upon your skin will be genetic. But our main takeaways for this piece are: - Avoid plastic packaging - Don’t fight your skins natural pH (leading to more breakouts and excess recalibration) - Wear sunscreen daily (even on the parts that are covered by clothes. Clothes and clouds are not enough protection!) - Prevent wrinkles through proper health, sleep, and nutrition There’s no quick-fix. Only a daily dedication to care for your body and skin from the inside out!
Eye Cream Is NOT A Hoax!
There is no hoax about eye cream. I’ve been seeing a lot of misinformation about how eye cream isn’t needed or it is just overpriced moisturizer. Sadly this is the spread of uneducated opinions not backed by the proper background in cosmetic chemistry. One of my goals as a Licensed Esthetician? Skin Fitness Expert, and now Cherie Creator is to empower you all to make educated decisions about your skin health and wellness by wiping away the lies and taking the BS out of the beauty industry with simple nerdy posts like this one backed in science. Let’s go ahead and chat facts about the eye area, eye creams, and how this all works so you can make your own decisions on whether eye cream is for you or not. FACT: The skin around the eyes isn’t like the rest of the face. It has no pores. FACT: Pores are the primary way that products are delivered aka get into the skin. FACT: Delivery systems are high tech skin science. They are like the SpaceX of skincare. Anyone can put products on the top of the skin. It’s the company that can get those products ingredients delivered to the exact place they needs to go without damaging anything along the way or having them lose potency that’s a rock ⭐️. FACT: Since the skin around the eyes doesn’t have pores to get product through it needs high tech science 🔬🧬 and ingredients to work on the eye area. FACT: Eye Creams are formulates especially for delivery to the eye area to repair eye issues. FACT: Eye creams aren’t miracle workers. They don’t fix genetic problems like bags, dark circles, etc. They can improve their appearance. OPINION: You may want to skip eye cream for some genetically predisposed things like dark circles which are often caused by pooling blood, poor circulation, shadowing of the upper brow ridge, and diet and try other solutions first. OPINION: Hydration can help your eye area look better! This means any moisturizing will help. Drinking more water💦 applying basic moisturizer will hydrate the top layers of the skin and make them appear better. Understand the deeper layers are not improved. It’s a temporary fix and isn’t repairing or stopping future damage. FALSE: Moisturizer is just as good around the eye area as specially formulated eye cream. TRUTH: Regular moisturizer will not penetrate the eye area skin. It will stay on the orbital bone or in the top dead layers of skin superficially as just hydration. But it most likely won’t repair anything more deeply. Specially designed delivery systems are needed to get into a pore-less area like the eyes. TRUTH: Crows feet don’t need special eye cream. This is where there’s a lot of misinformation! Wrinkles on the sides of the eyes, outside the orbital bone, is regular skin So nope you don’t need special cream per say. 😘 #cheriecreator #eyecream #anti-aging #eyeareaconcerns
Thoughts on Drunk Elephant B-Hydra💧💧
DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬: B-Hydra is a cool glass of water for your thirsty skin. An ultra-hydrating, anti-aging Vitamin B5 gel that replenishes nutrients and visibly brightens and improves skin texture and tone, while delivering intense skin moisturization throughout the day. To start off, I’m not a big fan of the brand Drunk Elephant. Cherie has sent gift cards and there’s really not many good options in Sephora so I ordered B-Hydra and Protini (I have also tried them before). I made a mistake using them both in the same routine once, it felt really clogging so I wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive acne prone gals like me. However, using one DE product at a time really worked. I got to know they include Marula oil (and plant oils) in almost all of their products which got a comedogenic index of 4 that means it can actually clog pores and cause blemish/acne. B hydra so far hasn’t caused me any breakouts, I don’t really use it on an everyday basis tho. I specifically really like its texture. It has a thick gel consistency but sinks in easily and gives that luxurious feel - like all other DE products. It does kind of make my skin more oily during the day but overall, I still like it. I wouldn’t call it amazing but I think it does a decent job. It’s a good basic hydrating serum for me, unless you’re really into plant oils and it helps your skin tremendously then I can understand why this could be a holy grail. I wish DE would put some niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, peptides higher up the ingredients list but nonetheless, it’s still a great product. Overall, I would recommend B-Hydra not because it’s mind blowing, but because it does mostly what you would expect. If you have the money to spare, I think it’s worth the try.
Multi-purpose hydrating toner essence
The ROVECTIN - Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion is a multi purpose toner and essence that uses their own barrier repair complex to provide the skin with deep hydration, anti-aging, antioxidants, and mild exfoliation benefits. There are a ton of amazing ingredients in this such as niacinamide, adenosine, caffeine, various molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, allantoin, panthenol, arginine, licorice root extract, matricaria flower extract, centella asiatica, soybean sprout extract, papaya fruit extract, sodium pca, trehalose, and sodium polyglutamate. This has a very viscous and weighty texture that instantly wraps your skin in a hydration veil after application. It takes a bit to seep into the skin but it delivers a ton of hydration leaving a light tacky finish afterwards like most hyaluronic acid toners. I find that applying this on slightly damp skin helps lessen the time it takes for it to absorb. This reminds me of the hada labo goku-jyun premium toner (the gold bottle) in terms of how it feels on the skin except it’s slightly less viscous than hada labo. So I found that this can be a bit heavy for oilier skin types which is why I recommend applying on damp skin to help reduce the heaviness while still locking in extra hydration. Those with drier and dehydrated skin will definitely love how hydrating this is as it’ll quench your skin’s thirst. The mild exfoliation from the papaya fruit extract is also quite gentle and hasn’t caused any irritations or dryness on my skin. This didn’t cause me to breakout either. Overall, this is an amazing toner that any skin type can utilize but those with dehydrated skin will appreciate this greatly. My skin enjoyed this but I’m not sure I’d rush to repurchase this just yet. If you’re in the market for a new multi purpose, gentle, nourishing, and hydrating toner then give this a try. Have you guys tried this yet? If so, any thoughts? Rating: 4/5 🌟 #CherieCreator #Rovectin
The Truth About Antioxidants, Hyaluronic acid, and Salicylic Acid
As someone with very dehydrated skin on the inside but oily looking on the outside, I’ve had to deal with the effects of this type of skin for years and the way it makes me look. Dehydrated skin can look tired and fine lines and wrinkles get accentuated; you would think the fact it’s oily would counteract that, but it doesn’t. My oily skin just looks shiny and that makes everything so much worse and because I live in a hot country my skin can suffer more. I work as a makeup artist and it’s work that’s under pressure. Sometimes I’m outside in the hot sun all day; or under photographers’ lighting. This means I’m constantly hot and sweaty. My skin is expelling water from the inside of my skin to lower the outside temperature. This makes the inside dehydrated and the outside too moist. Combined with that, it’s a fact that as the temperature rises the skin produces even more oil, making me look just horrible. In desperation, I consulted a dermatologist and she advised me that to help combat these problems the only thing to do is add some active ingredients into my skincare routine, by way of products with antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and salicylic acid. To explain what this means to you and me I’ve outlined how they work like this - Antioxidants are ingredients that block off the damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are the toxins that damage the skin: so pollution and sunrays, UVA and UVB, lifestyle by-products like alcohol or cigarettes. They are often found in food and always in nature and they work by anti-aging, brightening, and evening out skin texture; leaving skin radiant and glowy. An amazing product filled with antioxidants which I really love because of its gorgeous texture and easy applications is - My Clarins Re-Boost Refreshing Hydrating Cream CLARINS - RE-BOOST Refreshing Hydrating Cream Based in both science and nature: vegan, filled with antioxidants, natural ingredients like coconut water, and goji berries, with the added bonus of eco-friendly packaging. Hyaluronic Acid is based in nature: a gel-like substance that has the capacity to soak up and keep over 1000 times its own weight in water and to put this water into your skin cells. Its purpose in beauty products is to keep your skin plump, soft, and hydrated. Used widely in skincare it’s nature’s gift to the dry and dehydrated skin type. With this in mind, a lovely product filled with hyaluronic acid I would definitely recommend because of its lovely silky texture and amazing results is - Caudalie SOS Thirst Quenching Serum CAUDALIE - Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration Serum An ultra-light texture using concentrated grape water and hyaluronic acid to restore the level of hydration and dehydration - has 96% natural ingredients and it smells great. Salicylic Acid: this ingredient gently exfoliates away dead skin cells and oil build-up in the pores. This ingredient is highly recommended because it’s gentle enough not to dehydrate the skin, but it works well. Perfect to use on an oily T-zone or any skin that suffers from excess oil problems. My choice would always be - Dr.Brandt Skincare Pores No More-Skin Primer dr. brandt - Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer The great thing is it’s a 2 in1 product: It makes your makeup base look flawless but also helps diminish the look of pores and imperfections leaving a super-smooth canvas. Controls shine throughout the day by using salicylic acid in the form of Red Clover which has oil-absorbing spheres. Ignore all hype around these ingredients. All you need to know is that they work, and don’t be put off with the word ‘acid’ in the name. Both Salicylic and Hyaluronic acids are not actually acids as we know it but active ingredients that give the products the edge over basic skincare.
