Salon haircare brands bringing the hottest products 🔥🔥
Whatever your hair type, haircare brands offer a wide variety of options. This variation seems like a godsend till it becomes overwhelming. You're stuck not knowing the best product or brand to go with.
Finding the right one always call for some experiments. But no matter your hair texture or scalp issue, salon brands are marketed as being more professional and of greater quality. Apparently, this hints at heavier price tags.
Well, here are 4 of my favorite professional salon brands today. They're constantly bringing the heat and coming up with the hottest haircare products in 2020. Above all, they may not be as expensive as some high-end salon brands.
This brand right here goes overboard with niche marketing. Its focus is solely on blowouts—being the very best at it. With 100+ salons (in Canada and the US) and dozens of products readily available, you can say Drybar is almost there.
And thanks to the team's intense focus on perfecting its hair products and tools, thousands of buyers praise Drybar for making their hair look, feel, and smell healthier.
Certainly one of the best salon brands out there. But don't take my word for it. Give one of its products a try and see if it works great for you.
Alli Webb started her journey with a mobile hair service she provided locally in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Swiftly, she realized the huge need for blowouts in the whole LA.
Coupled with the steep prices she's been paying, she decided to capitalize on this demand. So she brought in her brother and husband to form Drybar in 2010
Working with her loved ones and doing what she loves, Alli soon grew the brand to become "one of the top 100 Brilliant Ideas of 2010" (named by New York Mag and Entrepreneur Mag).
The professional stylist adopts bar lingo in her salons, calling her cashiers bartenders and giving blowouts cocktail names. Yes, it's a Drybar.
Bestseller: Detox Dry Shampoo
Aveda is a top salon brand that specializes in organic and natural cosmetics. They take environmental responsibility to great lengths, even collaborating with the Yaminawá tribe to source coloring.
And it doesn't stop there. Professional training and certifications are also provided for various stylists and spas throughout the country.
The Aveda brand sells high-quality products, but I'm not so sure their environmental practices are worthy of supreme admiration like their marketing claims.
The brand was founded in 1978 by the late Horst Rechelbacher. An Austrian-American entrepreneur who discovered (an alternative medicine system from India called) Ayurveda 8 years earlier.
His newfound mission was to come up with formulas that are filled with the essential oils of plants and flowers. And that he did. His line soon became a hit, offering not just skin, makeup, and hair products but also lifestyle products and perfumes.
ESTĒE LAUDER acquired Aveda for $300 million in 1997, after which Rechelbacher traded all his salons. And before dying in 2014, the founder was acclaimed for making investment decisions that minimize risk to the environment and encourage sustainability.
Bestseller: Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair
amika puts the extract of sea buckthorn berry in all its products. The superfruit—as it's referred to—brims with Omega-7 fatty acids, and the brand makes good use of it to keep the scalp firm and elastic.
By boosting collagen and elastin production, the ingredient has an overall +ve impact on your hair and scalp. amika shines through with clean ingredients and cruel-free products "for every hair concern–no matter ethnicity, age or gender."
In 2007, amika (i.e., "friend" in Esperanto) was founded by Vita Raykhman. The idea was to create a haircare brand that's like a friend to you—straightforward, fun & dependable.
It wasn't long before amika established itself as one of the top salon lines available today. Its products and tools are widely praised for being innovative and for delivering professional results.
Bestseller: Perk Up Dry Shampoo
Thanks to brands like Color Wow, you can now go from having one hair color to experimenting with a wide array of hues and effects. We have balayage touch-ups, vibrant rainbows, ombrés, and many more.
The issue, though, is keeping your hair wholesome during the process. Repeated hair dying often weakens the hair, leading to hair thinning or easy breakage.
What Color Wow do is, it manufactures hair care products that improve color vibrancy while your hair stays healthy. Offerings include shampoos, pre-shampoos, conditioners, and hair oils.
The haircare line came to life in 2012, after Gail Federici's hairstylist tried to use brown eyeshadows to make blonde wigs appear more natural. She toyed with the idea at first but soon decided to go for it.
Color Wow, a brand that aims to make color-treated hair trouble-free, was born. It quickly drew attention, especially with Kim Kardashian's stylist Chris Appleton using it.
Fast forward to today, the brand now brags about its 50-something awards. All thanks to its superior color-wowing formulas.

💁🏻♀️My Go-To “Extra” Makeup Look 💁🏻♀️
Alright so a lot of people may have an everyday makeup look, but do you have an everyday EXTRA makeup look??? Well, here’s mine… It’s the perfect mix between glamorous and natural which I loveeee. I also think it’s a pretty achievable look and there aren’t too many crazy techniques you need to use in order to get it either. So I’ll start with the eyes, it’s just the foxy smokey look that’s been trending all over social media. I use tons of neutral and brown colors to achieve a more natural and smokey effect. The important thing is to build up the dark browns and black eyeshadow. For the fox eye effect, I like to use a piece of tape to get it really sharp. The trick is to always start with the lighter colors and blend up to the black. Also, line your waterline and inner corner with a black pencil to make it look even smokier. Next up, we got the lips. It’s the staple red lipstick but with a dark twist. I personally don’t think bright red lipstick complements my skin tone so I love adding a bit of brown. I use NYX soft matte lip creams to achieve this and the main lippie colors are “Madrid” and “Berlin”. You can add a lip gloss if you prefer, honestly, any clear gloss works. I like using Too Faced Lip Injection Plumping Lip Gloss for that pounty look hehe Last but not least, the freckles!!! This is a small element that ties everything together. It’s what makes it look a lot more natural and effortless. Don’t forget to also use some blush to make your freckles look more realistic, but my method for drawing freckles is with brown eyeshadow powder on a brush. And that’s pretty much all to it! Looks kinda complicated but actually pretty simple and great for any occasions you want to look a bit more extra for!! #CheriePartner
🍬🍃TATCHA MINIS HAUL🍃🍬
💜This is a recent Tatcha haul I scooped from Sephora with my VIB discount & saved up points, but I definitely placed an order today on tatcha.com to take advantage of their 20% off sale. Such a good time to purchase from Tatcha! I grabbed a couple old 5 star favorites like the Gold Spun lip balm & their Japanese blotting papers, as well as some other things I’ve been wanting to check out. Tatcha is actually an American brand, made in Japan🇯🇵, that adheres to Japan’s official safety & purity standards, one of the highest in the world, much stricter than the US (for more on that, check out my last post, or the 2015 documentary on Netflix called Stink) They were recently acquired by Unilever, so I hope they don’t ever change their standards! Tatcha sources all of their botanical extracts, ingredients & actives from plants grown in the most renowned provenances of Japan. 🍵🍚🌊Their formulas revolve around key ingredients Green Tea, Rice & Seaweed, the trinity of superfoods, rich in both nutrients & Japanese history, based on a Japanese document from 1813 which captured the beauty rituals of the time. ➕Their 2x fermented ‘Hadasei-3 complex’ yields over 85 actives like Enzymes, Minerals, Lactic & Amino Acids. It’s been a couple years since I’ve purchased Tatcha products, I’ve always loved their face creams, but we all know Tatcha is pricey!!! I think I was just always into moving on & trying something new, but oh how I missed them! I haven’t had as much luck with Tatcha cleansers in the past, I do adore their rice polish exfoliators 🍚 but personally was never a fan of the ‘One Step Camellia cleansing oil’ scent. I don’t think I’ve ever tried ‘The Deep Cleanse’ but I’m actually most excited to try their new cream cleanser: ‘The Rice Wash’🍚💦 I was also excited to finally try ‘The Silk Peony melting eye cream’ too, so this set was a no brainer! TATCHA - Pure & Glowing Trio set: $72 The ‘Pure & Glowing Trio’ set includes: a full size 1.7 oz Dewy Skin cream ($68) a 1.7 oz Rice Wash cleanser (full size is $35/4 oz) & 0.17 oz Silk Peony eye cream (full size $60/.5 oz) 🍬For now I’m just gonna share texture swatches & ingredients, but stay tuned... I’ll be rating everything in full review of every product coming soon! 💧TATCHA - Balanced Skin Duo The other products pictured are minis from a ‘Sephora Beauty Insider’ 300-point option that included: one mini ‘The Deep Cleanse’ 0.85 oz & one mini ‘The Water Cream’ 0.34 oz TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser Full size: $38/5 oz TATCHA - The Water Cream Full size $68/1.7 oz 💜In the meantime, check out that sale! And tell me your favorite Tatcha product(s) in the comments... or tell me about the ones that didn’t work for you!
I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻♀️
☁️This 2-part treatment system takes 20+ minutes. You do it on dry hair before you shampoo & condition. First you saturate your hair with Nº 0, wait 10 minutes, don’t rinse, then add Nº 3 & leave on for an additional 10+ minutes. Nº 3 can be used alone, but Nº 0 is meant to be used only as a precursor for Nº 3. I originally bought this for my bf’s heavily damaged hair, but he’s so lazy about using anything😑 So finally we made it happen. My hair isn’t currently damaged from bleach like it used to be, however, because I have a neurological disease, some days I’m in so much pain, tossing & turning in bed all day, I pull my hoodie over my head & use a heating pad on it. Days like this my thick hair becomes a wreck. Swipe for photos. I definitely get a lot of breakage around my hairline, I’m so over it lol, I’ve got silk pillowcases coming in the mail💤💌 I picked a “bad hair day” like this from the other day after my flareup calmed down to try this 2-part treatment system for you guys. I’m aware that no hair treatment can make a strand of hair full length again once it’s snapped short... I was more curious to see what this treatment could do for my bf’s hair. He washes it waaay too much because he thinks it’s dirty due to his job, which gives his hair tons of sun damage. I was mortified when he told me he washes it twice a day! Don’t do this! It strips away your natural oils! His hair is so brittle & dry! OLAPLEX - No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Kit $28/5.2 of Nº 0 + 1 oz of Nº 3 Everyone seems to be raving about Olaplex products, so I had my hopes set pretty high. This may be an unpopular opinion, but this treatment didn’t impress me much. I have to use sooo much product for my hair & it’s only shoulder length. My hair is extremely thick, I’m no stranger to using extra product, but this was a little ridiculous. I used almost the entire full size Nº 0 & every last drop of the sample size Nº 3. The amount I used on my bf was quite little. His hair is very thin & only like 4-5” long. OLAPLEX - No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment $28/5.2 oz He thought I was using a lot, because the nozzle dispenses so slowly (which is good I guess because the consistency is like water) but the level only went down about a half inch. Not really any scent. I found it so time consuming to do this step myself. The applicator made me feel like I was in highschool using box dye. I actually transferred it to an empty (& clean) Briogeo spray bottle because I was so frustrated. It dispensed it a lot faster, but still be very careful. I had a cut on finger & it burned really bad, so don’t get it in your eyes! OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector $28/3.3 oz Similar to typical hair conditioner in texture/consistency/scent-easy to apply. THE RESULTS: His hair: still fried This just wouldn’t be feasible for my hair considering I emptied a $28 bottle for 1 use. Hair was soft after nothin special.
A Satisfying Texture | Foundation for Dry Skin❤️
Look at this awesome close up of the AMOREPACIFIC - Color Control Cushion Compact Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 50 😍 I have this thing called Trypophobia (fear of small holes) but for some reason this close up just fascinates me. You can really see the luminescence of the foundation within the sponge! For those of you who aren’t familiar with CC formulas/cushion foundation, they are typically a smoother, more liquid-like formula than your average foundation that is made to even out skintone. Most true CC formulations focus more on skincare elements and a wee bit less on color/color ranges, especially those from Korean brands. Western brands definite amp up the diversity of their skintone range, as well as overall pigmentation in their formulas. This means you’ll find more full-coverage CC cream/foundation from “western” brands like IT Cosmetic’s it Cosmetics - it Cosmetics CC+ Cream SPF 50+ . (Not my favorite for dry skin. I felt like the Sahara Desert all over again when I used their formula 🙄) Therefore, it might be difficult to find a shade that fits you if you have a deeper skintone. Side note: I consider IT cosmetics to be a western brand because upon a bit of research, the company was bought by L’Oréal and the products are mostly manufactured in China. I love this foundation for super dry skin because of how moisturizing it is. It’s awesome for creating that second-skin finish with a natural, dewy glow. If you have light-medium with slight neutral-gold undertones and struggle with a bit of texture, this foundation line could work well for you! Every time I try something new or I’m stuck in a rut, I always go back to this foundation. I love the ease of use and blendability. The size is great for travel and I find that it doesn’t bother my dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. You can get a medium to slightly buildable full coverage without “erasing” the dimension/shadows in your face. Even though it has SPF it doesn’t wash my face out completely and doesn’t create a white cast. If there is any, it’s only slightly noticeable. You would have to look reeeaaally close to see it. Layering on powder/cream products are a breeze. I found the best way to use this product is with a slightly damp beauty blender. Start by placing a little bit onto the skin and then proceed to layer more as needed. There is something to be mindful of when you are using this product. If you live in a more humid/moist climate, I would add a little powder after your face primer and then proceed to add this foundation to help keep this in place throughout the day. You could also carry a powder puff with you throughout the day for touch-ups. Because the foundation has high moisture and provides a dewy finish, it can impact the longevity if you live in an moist/humid area 😊 Yay to a healthy glow! ❤️😄
