4 Brands of Makeup Brush To Try
So many brands of makeup brushes, so little time…
I’ve selected 4 must-have brands of makeup brushes to save you time and help you decide which ones are right for you. All these brands also have an interesting ethos which might influence your choice of brand…
- IT Cosmetics
- My Kitco
Cult US brand IT Cosmetics was launched in 2008 and was acquired by L’Oreal in 2016. They have a line of makeup and skincare products, but their specialty is makeup brushes. Their products are cruelty free and accredited by PETA. They have a huge presence on QVC, but don’t let that put you off!
Their Heavenly Luxe Dual-Ended Concealer Brush has a flat brush at one end for application, with a fluffy buffer (try saying that quickly) on the other end for blending.

IT Cosmetics have a huge range of brushes to choose from, but If big conglomerates aren’t your thing, then this may not be the brand for you
As the name suggests, EcoTools pride themselves on their eco-friendly and cruelty-free makeup brushes and other natural beauty products.
Founded in 2007 by sisters Jen and Stacey, and part of Paris Presents Inc, EcoTools uses recycled materials, renewable bamboo and improved manufacturing processes to reduce the environmental footprint of its products. They also support projects aimed at empowering women and girls.
Their Retractable Face Brush is designed to apply either powder or bronzer and has cruelty-free bristles and a recycled aluminum case. It’s designed for travel so that you can stow it in your purse to us on vacation or when you’re on the go.

Founded in Germany by Greek-born Zoe Boilou, Zoeva prides itself in its commitment to support women in need, including partnering with organizations that assist women facing domestic abuse, cancer or homelessness.
Zoeva’s brushes, makeup and accessories are all cruelty free, although they do use goat hair in some of their non-vegan brushes, which is gently combed or shaved without harming the animal.
Their Detail Liner Brush is incredibly fine and precise, and is designed to help you perfect those dramatic old-school eyeliner flicks. It’s made with synthetic hair (non-animal).
Every Zoeva brush has its name clearly printed on the side, so you always know you’ve got the right makeup brush for the job in hand!
Founded by makeup artist James Molloy and his partner Alex Thompson in their spare room, MyKitco prides itself on still being a ‘friends and family run business’. They do not conduct testing on animals, and all natural hair is sourced as by-product.
The My Kitco range of makeup brushes feature weighted handles, which can be helpful if your hand is a little unsteady (like mine!). Their brushes are also color-coded, so you can see whether the rush is aimed at beginners or professional. Gray handled brushes are suitable for all, while those with a blue handle are aimed more at the professionals and for specific makeup jobs.
I decided to check out their My Essential Brush Set, which aims to provide all the brushes you might need to create a full makeup look. It includes a foundation brush and foundation brush for your face, and for your eyes, it has a brush for sharp angles, another for tapered creases, as well as a brush for all-over shadow. All brushes in the set are made from super-soft synthetic fibre.
This could be an option if you’re looking to replace your existing makeup brushes with a range that covers the essentials.

Makeup Brushes With a Conscience
With so many makeup brushes on the market, it can be hard to work out which ones are truly indispensable! All of the brands I’ve considered above have other factors as well as the professional credentials of their creators which might influence your decision to buy, whether it’s their cruelty-free or eco-credentials, their concern for women’s issues, or their ethos of supporting friends and family.
Mermaid Polish🧜♀️ Same Brand Dupe?
Sally Hansen - Color Therapy Nail Polish Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri X Jelly Belly Nail Polish Similarities: - Both are from Sally Hansen which is famous for their polishes and nail products - Both have two-color tones - Both have blue base Differences - Sally Hansen Salon Manicure has 14.7ml (0.5 oz) comparing to Sally Hansen insta-dry Matte 9.17 ml (0.3 oz) - Salon Manicure is $15 CAD vs Insta-dry Matte $8 CAD (almost double the other) - The Salon Manicure does appear to be more hollow, when actually apply it, you can tell that this one is super jampacked with holo pigment - After two layers, the salon manicure series is perfect set and ready to finish ( actually one layer is good enough, if you do want extra hallow pigment, you can go with a second layer) but the insta-dry matte series, it is not as clear as the other, and you actually need a third layer to get the perfect finish. - The formula is thicker in Salon Manicure, but the consistency is very good and fluid. And it doesnt dragging the brush. It floats super nicely across the nail. - My opinion - I personally really love the Salon Manicure. Although both polish are from Sally Hansen, this one definitely wins over the other in every area. I love the fact that you can see the formula is a two-toned color, you can actually see the color shifting when turning it into different angles. And it appears the same on your nails. It has a perfect combination of blue and purple with purple pearl shimmer to keep the nail going strong.

This is my night skincare routine for oily, combination , acne prone skin. These products are so good and help me lots with painful acne around jawlines. 🧖🏻♀️I use #Senka - SENKA All Clear Water Micellar White[products]#[FiveStars] ove my makeup. I like this one because it has green tea in it and very suitable for combination acne prone skin. 💜 Next, I use TATCHA - The Rice Wash Soft Cream Cleanser aka the perfect winter cleanser. Even my usually oily skin likes this. It’s very gentle, smells so so nice and luxurious. Lathers beautiful but still creamy. It cleanses your face as it should but doesn’t dry your skin out during winter. 💆🏻♀️For acne treatment, I exfoliate withCOSRX - One Step Pimple Clear Pads 2x/week and use LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Adapalene Gel .01% Topical Retinoid Acne Treatment 3x/week but not in the same night. 🔥✨ Then we have this lovely moisturizer INDIE LEE - Daily Skin Nutrition I’ve tried many oil free moisturizer for my stubborn oily skin but nothing works. It’s always look dull and shiny in the afternoon. If you have the same issue this product is perfect for you. This moisturizer IMMEDIATELY sinks into your skin and keeps my skin hydrated all day. It makes my skin so soft, doesn’t feel sticky after applying, even suitable for sensitive skin. The only downside to this is it’s the scent. It smells kinda weird to me but will disappear after a few minutes. That’s all from me. Hope you like this post 😁 *Music: Together( Prod. by Lukrembo)
💖Creator Roundup 🏷 Cherie Made Me Buy It
Check out these creators profiles for their reviews on the cherie finds! @JadesJourney “I mentioned I was ordering a few of The Ordinary products a couple of weeks ago and Yay! they arrived last Friday. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I purchased three ordinary products because of reviews from fellow creators 🤗 thank you creators, and I’m interested in organic vegan 🌱, cruelty-free products. My haul included…” @HilaryStrano “While I love this app for more than one reason, the biggest reason is how we can learn from one another. I am very open about my struggles with eczema, rosacea, extremely sensitive skin so on one of my posts someone left a comment about adding collagen supplement. So I listened and here's what I found.” @pastelpink_bunny “This mini set is incredible! It contains their five best sellers for all skin types✨” @madihomewood “💔I’m pretty bummed about this eye cream tbh, I was so stoked about the brand (and should mention that I have been liking some of the other products so far) but this one really was a miss for me.”
We stan Pietro in this house 🤡💗
Continuing the ACNH series, today I bring you Pietro ❤️ my favorite sheep villager and overall best boy. Products used: ⭐️ Complexion products: •e.l.f. - Poreless Putty Primer •DIOR - Forever Skin Correct Concealer •essence - All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder ⭐️ For the teardrop, heart & nose: •Transcend Dance from COLOURPOP - In a Trance Shadow Palette •My Milkshake from COLOURPOP - Strawberry shake shadow palette •Daiquiri from the same palette as above. ⭐️ Highlighter (for the tip of the nose): •OFRA - Limited Edition Rodeo Drive Highlighter Ornament ⭐️ Brows: • ohii - Magic Hair Wand ⭐️ Lips: •The now discontinued NYX Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé in Molten Love 💋 ⭐️ Lashes: •I just went to my nearest beauty supply and picked the most dramatic lashes I could find! Brand is Cherry Blossom, they’re their 3D SILK LASH, style #003 For this look I did my face makeup as usual, just some light concealing, just powdering with a matte powder. I like to keep my brows sheer and fluffy when doing villager makeup lol 😅 I tried drawing the teardrop and heart on my cheeks freehanded but ya girl is not talented like that, so I decided to do cutouts of both and stick them to my face using washi tape so it’s easy to remove and won’t tug on my skin, then I just filled them in using the shadows I mentioned above from Colourpop. For my nose I used Daiquiri from the Strawberry Shake palette, which is perfect for this since it’s a pigment and you just need the tiniest bit! Then I added some highlighter just on the tip to make it pop 😋 For some reason NYX always discontinues the products I really like, so I can’t tag the exact product I used since you won’t be able to find it but honestly any red lipstick or cream you have will do the trick! Whenever I’m doing extra af makeup I like to wear extra af, dramatic lashes like these 😌 lashes always make the look in my opinion! These from Cherry Blossom are so soft, I wish the band wasn’t as obvious but the more you use them, the easier it is to apply them! And that’s it! Surprisingly, this look didn’t take as long as I thought it would but it is still cute and festive 🤡 Which villager should I do next? I already have some on my list, but I’d love to hear your favorites! 💗 #cheriepartner #cheriecreator
Briogeo Scalp Revival at the Sephora Sale
The November Sephora sale is coming up soon, so I wanted to tell you all about my thoughts on these Briogeo Scalp Revival products. Note: I will not be talking about the shampoo. I really love Briogeo as a brand. Their Curl Charisma line has really helped me bring my curls back to life. However, I have super sensitive skin all over my body and this includes my scalp. I have to treat it right or else I get HELLA itchy and I also get dandruff occasionally. Here are my thoughts and experiences with Briogeo’s Scalp Revival Conditioner and Scalp Treatment Serum: Briogeo Scalp Revival Conditioner: Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Peppermint Oil Cooling Jelly Conditioner ok, so you can clearly see that I’ve rated this 1/5 stars... but let me explain why: my hair is SO DRY. It’s really frustrating having to use lightweight products near my scalp, but having to use super thick creams on the rest of my hair. I thought this product might solve that problem by, you know, conditioning my hair a good amount all around. Nope. This conditioner has the same consistency as their shampoo, just minus the exfoliating beads...they describe it as a “gel conditioner” but it freaking lathers dude like a conditioner LATHERING?!?! No thank you. It dried out my hair so badly and did not give me any type of moisture whatsoever. So, obviously, this is not the right product for my hair type, but who would benefit from this? I would definitely recommend this conditioner if you have the oiliest hair on the planet. Like, wash your hair daily oily, no curl, no texture, just pin straight hair. That is the only type of hair I’d recommend this to. I got this in a travel kit (2oz) which I would recommend picking up if this sounds like your kind of product! Briogeo Scalp Revival Treatment Serum:Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Serum ok, so we are obviously full 180 here. Let me tell you about my lover. My partner in crime. The treatment serum. Oh my gosh. This has SAVED my scalp on multiple occasions. I use it every other time I wash my hair, so probably twice a month. It’s a lightweight serum that treats itchy and dry scalp but it doesn’t make your scalp oily AT ALL!! I love it. I part my hair into sections around the front hairline and crown where I get the itchiest, and apply it while my hair is wet after I get out of the shower. It’s kind of pricey (1oz for $32) but a bottle lasts forever for me. Like, at least a year! I highly recommend this for those with an itchy scalp. Ok, but why tea tree and charcoal? They have healing and cleansing properties for your scalp without being overly harsh or stripping to your hair. Briogeo’s products are 6-free: no harsh sulfates, no parabens, no silicones, no phthalates, no artificial dyes, no DEA. This supports healthy overall hair. Have you tried anything from Briogeo? #CheriePartner
