Makeup Tools that Deserve Space in your Kit Bag

Jun. 18
Check out whether these 4 makeup tools deserve space in your kit bag!
There are so many beauty tools out there right now, and it can be easy to buy everything in sight (and then never use it). So I’ve checked out the following 4 interesting makeup tool brands to help you narrow down the products that you might actually need as well as want so that your makeup kit bag isn’t totally bursting at the seams…
  • Beautyblender
  • Nanshy
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills
  • Tweezerman
Hollywood makeup artist Rea Anna Silva noticed that the egg-shaped makeup sponges she’d been handcutting to blend makeup for an airbrushed look kept ‘disappearing’ every time her back was turned! In 2003 she took her idea to market, and Beautyblender was born.
Beautyblender is a water-activated sponge designed to blend products such as foundation, CC creams and liquid highlighters. It’s reusable and designed to absorb as little as possible, so that your precious products go further.
Afficionados swear by the original Beautyblender, but there are plenty of copycat products available in drugstores for a fraction of the price. If you’re on a budget, you might want to give a cheaper alternative a try?
As well as sponges in all colors and sizes, Beautyblender now sell a range of other tools and makeup products.
Founded in 2012, British brand Nanshy produces vegan and cruelty-free makeup tools and brushes.
At the risk of sounding like your parents telling you to tidy your room…you do realise that you’re supposed to clean your makeup brushes EVERY SINGLE WEEK???
Nanshy have come up with brush cleaning pads, which remove dirt, old makeup and bacteria from your brushes. After adding cleansing product and water, you circle the brush against the pad until the water runs clean – the abrasion from the pad speeds things up. It’s portable for travel too.
Now, if someone would just invent a product that would keep my room clean…
Anastasia Beverly Hills
Hands up if your brows are looking less than their best recently? Yup, me too.
So I decided to investigate a brand known for its eyebrow products, Anastacia Beverly Hills, founded in 1997 in Beverly Hills (where else?) by CEO Anastasia (who else?) Soave.
If it’s a while since you’ve had your brows professionally threaded or waxed, you might be interested in trying out their eyebrow stencils. Choose the stencil that corresponds with your face shape and desired look, and position according to the step by step guidance provided – you then fill the area with brow powder, remove the stencil, and tweeze the unmarked hairs.
It might not be the perfect substitute for your brow therapist, but it might stop you from getting too tweezer happy!
Founded in NYC by Dal La Magna 40 years ago, Tweezerman are known for their beauty and grooming tools – particularly for brows/lashes and mani/pedis.
As with brows, many of us are having to take matters into our own hands when it comes to lashes. So I decided to check out Tweezerman’s Eyelash Curlers, which claim to give you ‘big, beautiful lashes with optimum curl’.
Its thick, rounded silicone lash pads are hypoallergenic and claim not to crimp or stick to lashes, unlike rubber pads that can cause irritation. They can be used on false lashes but avoid using them on lash extensions. Always use lash curlers before applying mascara if you don’t want your lashes to come to a sticky end!
Streamline Your Makeup Toolkit
Why not take a good hard look at the tools in your makeup kit bag, and check whether you’re actually using everything that’s crammed in there? If it doesn’t merit the space it’s taking up, then maybe one of these products has a better claim to be there!

My longtime obsession with long nails //PICS!🔪
My longtime obsession with long nails //PICS!🔪
Yup, I’m that girl clickin & clackin on her phone! Sorrrry💁🏻‍♀️ 💅🏽💅🏿💅🏼💅🏾💅🏻 I’ve been obsessed with crazy long nails since i was a little kid. I got my first set of acrylics probably sophomore year of high school. I was pretty tomboy in high school even though I wore a lot of makeup, they were pretty annoying at first & the dance companies I was in banned fake nails for shows & even practice. I would get sets occasionally in college, but went to art school & they definitely get in the way with certain processes. ♿️ I got severely injured in 2014, when I was 26, & the cuticle biting habit I’ve always had was sooo bad because I literally had nothing to do all day. I was working as a server in California at the time, so I was definitely not allowed to have fake nails or nail polish of any kind. I ended up returning to acrylics full time after I got injured & I could finally stop biting my cuticles! The nails just look so pretty, I felt less eager to mess with them & the nails are thicker than a natural nail so you can’t pick at your skin (or pop pimples with this length! Plus!) 💔 A combination of moving away from my favorite nail tech, ( TONY I LOVE YOU & OH HOW MISS YOU SO! ) & obviously quarantine, forced me to abandon my long fake nails for now. The damage: Getting full acrylic sets & fills pretty much non-stop for almost 6 years, my real nails were not cute, thin & brittle. I was so lucky to have a very talented & meticulous technician for the last 2 of those years. I honestly never had any of the nasty issues some people can face with acrylics. What are acrylics? Acrylic nails are created by first applying a plastic nail extension with glue to part of your nail to add length. Then a powder & liquid acrylic monomer are combined into a sort of “blob of dough” & shaped onto your nails with a brush & air dried. Next they will be further shaped & smoothed with manual & electric files. A GOOD tech will take about 2 hours, not less. I always chose gel polish that’s cured with a UV light on top of my acrylics, but you can also just do regular nail polish. I worked up to this length- they make me feel like myself, know what I mean? But I wouldn’t recommend starting off long if you aren’t used to it. Your natural nails grow out & then in 2-3 weeks you can get what’s called a “fill”, where your polish is removed & a small amount of the monomer is applied to the base of your nail bed & blended into what you already have on your nail. Quarantine: Had my last real set in February... I ordered long press-ons a few times, which I really loved, but they’re just not the same strength-wise. I was actually kinda rough on my nails & rarely broke them. At least when press-ons pop off, you can just glue it back on instead of rushing to the salon! I’ve had fun trying ones with gems & charms! In the past I stuck to solid colors & glitter with acrylics due to the cost & sitting time. IMO the best press-ons are from black owned business, Hawt Nailz!

Turning myself into Merengue from ACNH 🍓
Turning myself into Merengue from ACNH 🍓
Hi, my name’s Francine and I’m addicted to Animal Crossing!!! 🐶🐷🐱🐰🦊💗 If you guys have been following along you’ve probably seen my other ACNH inspired lewks. Someone suggested I did Merengue next, and honestly she was already on my list! Merengue is a normal rhino villager and her name comes from “meringue”, a type of dessert made with egg whites and sugar. My husband has her on his island and she’s the cutest!! 🍰 I also got inspo from @neoini on IG! They did this look a while ago, and I’m just beyond obsessed. Here’s what I used for this look: 🍓 e.l.f. - Poreless Putty Primer 🍰DIOR - Forever Skin Correct Concealer 🍓essence - All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder 🍰essence - Satin Touch Blush 🍓COLOURPOP - Strawberry shake shadow palette 🍰CALEY COSMETICS - Beach Babe Natural Lips 🍓Glossier. - Glossier. Lip Gloss 🍰Freck BEAUTY - THE ORIGINAL FRECKLE 🍓OFRA - Limited Edition Rodeo Drive Highlighter Ornament 🍰 ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Dipbrow Gel How did I do it: • First I started by prepping my skin, so I used my favorite primer atm. The elf poreless putty primer gives me a smooth, flawless base every time. • Next I spot concealed with the Dior forever skin correct concealer, I wear shade 1W. • I like to keep my brows soft when I’m doing villager inspired makeup lol, so I only went in with the dipbrow gel, which I don’t love but I can’t find my elf wow brow 😔 • Now for the eyes I used one of my favorite palettes from CP and did a soft, shimmery pink eye bc the lil strawberry nose is the focal point here! • The nose was so hard guys, I used a white concealer and a green eyeliner from a now discontinued beauty brand and just carefully tried to draw a strawberry. Any white creamy shadow or concealer will work and any green shadow or liner is ok! I used the shade Daiquiri from the Strawberry Shake palette for the rest. Ta-da! • To set my makeup I used the essence - All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder I purchased this powder when I did my Flora makeup and needed a white fixing powder. I went with Essence because honestly I rarely ever use mattifying powders for my regular makeup routine, and Essence is inexpensive and they’re powders are just top tier. This powder is supposed to be “invisible” so I just build up until I can no more and it works great! Its surprisingly lightweight even when I apply like 10 layers to get maximum opacity. Also the price is hard to beat! $3.99 for 8 grams 🙌 • I used the Satin Touch Blush in Coral love. • For the freckles I used the Freck BEAUTY - THE ORIGINAL FRECKLE the liquid-y formula and small brush makes it easy to draw fake freckles, but it’s a little warm for my taste and way too small. Def not a need.
💥Only Cost $18!! 👉🏻Easy Hair Dye at Home
💥Only Cost $18!! 👉🏻Easy Hair Dye at Home
It’s been a long time since I wanted to dye my hair into blue. When I found that all the hair dye products were on sale at pharmacy, I knew that it was the time to go for it! 🙋🏻‍♀️What I bought: Schwarzkopf Brilliance Intense Colour Crème #91 *2 Schwarzkopf Nordic Blonde L1 *1 Some garbage bags to prevent soiling clothes (I can hardly believe it only costs me $18 for all these things!) 🙋🏻‍♀️Colouring process: 1️⃣Put on the gloves, use Schwarzkopf Nordic Blonde L1 first, mix the specific reagent according to the instructions, shake well and apply it to bleach your hair 2️⃣Spread evenly on the part that needs bleaching by hand or comb (I focused on the end of the hair) 3️⃣Hold on for 45 mins, then rinse directly with water 4️⃣Now comes the hair dye. Again, mix and shake it well, and apply it evenly. Here I use two boxes of colorings. For those with longer or heavier hair, you may need to use one more 5️⃣Put on a disposable shower cap, hold on for 45 minutes, then wash it without shampoo but conditioner in the box. Congratulations, you've finished this hair dyeing! 🙋🏻‍♀️My thoughts: Actually, I thought I failed at first because my hair looked black indoors. Unexpectedly, it looks good in the sun in blue and black. If you want a more obvious blue color, you can try Schwarzkopf No. 90 or other blue colors. For me, I am quite satisfied with this~
👉🏻How to choose the right styling tool👈🏻
👉🏻How to choose the right styling tool👈🏻
For those who don't like fixed hairstyles and prefer to do the styling by their own, hairstyler is a “must-have”! For me, these three are my most commonly used tools: hair straightener, curling irons and hair waver. 🙋🏻‍♀️Straightener: No matter what type of hair you have, everyone should have a straightener. Not only straight hair style, many mermaid, boho or beachy waves can also be done with it. Note, it takes some skills to make waves with straightener. So if you are a newbie, maybe curling irons suit you better. 🙋🏻‍♀️Curling iron: The common sizes are 25mm, 28mm, 32mm, 38mm, etc. Different sizes will lead to big differences in the curl, volume, and its durability. Generally speaking, hairstyles made with small curling irons will last longer than the large ones. If you have long hair below the chest, you are recommended to choose a size of 32mm and above, so that you can have some smooth and natural waves. If you don't know what kind of style you prefer, maybe 28mm is a good choice. It is the most practical size and also does a good job at maintenance. If you have short hair or want a cute style hairstyle, then 25mm will not be wrong, which will make you look very energetic and can last for a really long time. 🙋🏻‍♀️Hair waver: The hair waver is a great tool for beginners. It is easy to operate and can help you achieve a very good hairstyle in less than 15 minutes. Although the types of styling that hair waver can do are very limited and far inferior to an ordinary curling iron or straighter, it is still good for some occasional lazy days.
