The Best Anti-Aging Ingredients tor Younger Skin

A walk through the beauty aisle can be daunting, especially when so many tubes and cartons promise “anti-aging” but don’t quite have the right ingredients to get you there. Having a skincare routine is essential for promoting youthful skin and preventing the signs of aging, however, more goes into these products than just moisturizers. It’s important for you to be educated on the ingredients you put on your face and how they may interact with your unique skin type.
Here are the best anti-aging ingredients to promote younger-looking skin:
Collagen:
This one is actually a tricky ingredient. If a product simply says “collagen” as the main ingredient, it won’t do anything for promoting younger skin other than moisturize it. Instead of looking for the word “collagen” look for other ingredients that will actually promote the growth of natural collagen in your skin. These ingredients include amino acids, peptides, and even hydrochloric acid.
Vitamin B:
Directly on your skin, vitamin B can do wonders for promoting new skin cell growth and reverse the signs of aging. Tons of research has been done on vitamin B and the consensus is that it may not be a miracle vitamin, but it definitely does not harm your skin. When reading a product label, look for: niacinamide, vitamin B-3, and vitamin B complex ingredients.
Kinetin:
You may not have heard of Kinetin but it’s actually a great ingredient to look for in your skincare products. It naturally occurs in most living things, including us, and helps to repair damaged skin and wounds and support the regrowth of healthy skin. In this sense, it also boosts collagen production but can also reverse the signs of sun damage, aging spots, product damage, and erases wrinkles. It will also help elasticity in the skin.
Retinol:
You’ve most likely heard of retinol as one of the key ingredients in anti-wrinkle and anti-aging creams. It’s often used because with continued use it will actually work. Here’s what it does: it brightens your skin, tightens, erases dark spots and acne (as well as acne scars), it reverses wrinkles and prevents new age lines, and it exfoliates dead and lifeless skin leaving new, energized cells in its place. 0.04% to 0.2% retinol is a moderate amount and perfect for those looking to treat small spots and fine lines.
Coenzyme Q10:
If you see Coenzyme Q10 on a product label it means the product has a strong antioxidant included to help boost collagen as well. We already have it in our bodies naturally but it begins to decrease as we age, which means it becomes more difficult for our skin to rejuvenate and repair itself.
Glycosaminoglycans:
It’s a mouthful but it’s an essential ingredient for hydrating the skin and allowing your cells to breathe and stay healthy. The top layer of skin on your face grows thinner as we age and will increasingly get more difficult to keep hydrated. Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans do more than moisturize the skin, they actually bind themselves to your cells and retain moisture while protecting them from the damage of weather, the sun, and even your makeup.
Copper:
Copper is an important element for filling wrinkles and keeping skin tight and elastic. It will even repair natural collagen in the skin that has been damaged by the sun or scarred from acne and aging. Retinoids, as discussed above, can burn if your skin is particularly sensitive, so the copper can be a good alternative to look for in ingredients as it doesn’t irritate the skin as much.
SPF:
Through your life, you’ve spent countless days letting the sun do its job on your face and skin. It may have been easier for you to get your youthful bounce back after a slight burn when you were younger but as you age it becomes critical for you to prevent sun damage as it will become even harder for you to reverse. Look for products that have an SPF of 15 or 30 to protect your skin and allow the other ingredients to do their work without fighting off the sun as well.
Shopping for skincare products doesn’t need to be overwhelming. Shopping online for beauty products or even in a department store aisle can be so much more useful when you’re prepared to read labels instead of price tags and find the right product to match your skin tone, skin type, and your own requirements.

How to Use Retinoids Without Wrecking Your Skin
How to Use Retinoids Without Wrecking Your Skin
Retinoids are amazing. Whether you’re using adapalene (Differin) to treat acne, over-the-counter retinols to prevent signs of aging or correct hyperpigmentation, or plan to start tretinoin (Retin-A) for both, retinoids are exciting and have decades of research to back up their efficacy. But they can be a bit tricky- after all, almost anyone who turns to retinoids is warned of flaking, dryness, purging, redness, irritation... side effects galore. Except, it’s honestly pretty easy to avoid most of those. The purging is somewhat inevitable due to how retinoids work, but mixing retinol with an oil or applying an oil in the same routine can help stave off a lot (if not all) of the irritation, redness, flaking, and/or dryness. Oils help to fortify the skin barrier with fatty acids, as well as seal in the moisture from your hydrating serums and/or your moisturizer. I figured this tip out after accidentally forgetting to apply an oil (a usual part of my PM routine) with my tretinoin and immediately experienced flaking around my nose. Here are my favourite retinol+oil combos... The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane is my favourite over-the-counter retinol, melding two wonderful and simple ingredients: squalane and retinol. They offer three concentrations, beginning at 0.2%, then 0.5%, and finally 1%. I saw no irritation slowly making my way between the various concentrations, the squalane drying down to a lovely satin finish if you use in the AM before sunscreen. THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil applied after my Apostrophe Tretinoin has helped immensely- I didn’t notice any flaking/dryness until the night I forgot to apply it after my tret, which is impressive! I also haven’t experienced any redness or increased sensitivity, which I credit partly to this oil (also partly to my soothing serums). It’s already been helping with my acne and hyperpigmentation, as well as some tiny bumpy texture that has been persistently plaguing my forehead since before the beginning of my skincare journey years ago. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil applied after DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Antioxidant Face Oil is a dream team combination for aging, dry skin- as well as a wonderful way to correct texture and tone! I can’t recommend this specific combination enough for helping with uneven texture and uneven tone. It lightened some of my dark spots and really helped smooth the orange peel texture on my chin, with the oil keeping a lot of the dryness at bay.
Let’s Debunk Some Skincare Myths
Let’s Debunk Some Skincare Myths
To say there’s a plethora of beauty information out there would be an understatement. It can be difficult to determine what are good tips and what are myths, especially if there’s conflicting information. Let’s debunk 3 common ones that I still hear/see around the web/beauty community. If your makeup contains SPF you don’t need SPF underneath. Why is this myth incorrect? You would need to apply a lot of foundation, tinted moisturizer, or BB/CC cream to get the proper amount of SPF needed to protect your skin. For example, I have the ILIA - Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 Foundation with SPF 40. I only apply about the size of a dime for my whole face, and this product only provides sheer-light coverage. I would need multiple layers of this to protect my skin from UVA/UVB. You should apply SPF underneath your makeup (at least the size of a quarter!) to ensure adequate protection. I love the Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 because it’s good for all skin types, doubles as a makeup primer, reef-safe, and is cruelty-free. Face wipes clean your face as well as cleanser. Nope! Face wipes may seemingly remove all your makeup and SPF residue, but they don’t have the ability to properly cleanse your face. I don’t usually use face wipes, but I received these RAWGANIC - Pure Refreshing Facial Wipes for Christmas from a family member. I use them to remove makeup before heading to the gym or at the end of the day. If using at the end of the day, always follow up with cleanser to remove excess residue!!! Face wipes would be a good option in the AM if you have extra dry skin and want to feel clean without having to wash. Don’t mix vitamin C and niacinamide. Why is this a myth? It was believed that combining anything with vitamin C, especially niacinamide, would negate the effects of vitamin C. Vitamin C is awesome for brightening and fading dark spots, and niacinamide is great for enlarged pores, dull skin, and acne scarring. Combining these two powerhouse ingredients, such as in the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner , is a match made! That toner makes such a difference in my skin’s appearance (pores, dullness, scarring). Don’t want to combine but still reap the benefits? Use vitamin C in the AM (such as THE inkey LIST - Vitamin C Brightening Cream ) and niacinamide in the PM (such as PURITO - Centella Unscented Serum which contains niacinamide). You can have your cake and eat it, too! I personally will use these serums (or other ones in my collection) one right after another, but everyone’s skin is different. FACEWASH COMBO ⬇️ Curology - The Cleanser MIXED WITH DR ORGANIC Aloe Vera Hydrating face wash -This combo is great because I am using my Curology acne fighting face wash but mixing in a little bit of the aloe face wash leaves my skin feeling really clean! The Curology face wash is not a lathering face wash rather then a formula that almost gets absorbed so quick into your skin that you can’t even rub it in. I don’t like that so I mix it with my Dr. Organic and get a sudsy lather going! The aloe wash is one of those facial washes that requires not a lot of product. It creates a nice foamy texture once you activate it. Anyway this face wash combo is nice and doesn’t not strip my skin from any moisture or make me break out. Love! DR ORGANIC- HYDRATING ALOE MICELLAR WATER ⬇️ I bought this on a whim while I was shopping online at Ulta! I love putting this on right after I cleanse my face because I feel like it’s getting my skin nice and extra hydrated and ready for all of the other products that I end up putting on! TONER ⬇️ ANDALOU NATURALS - Firming Toner, Coconut Water, Quenching This toner smells good and leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I don’t think it does much for my skin though. If you other Cheries have any toner suggestions I’m totally open for your shares. Comment to let me know what you like to use a a toner! ACNE TREATMENT ⬇️ Curology - Curology formula Look at my previous posts about Curology! MOISTURIZER TRIO ⬇️ Curology - The Moisturizer Look from my previous post about Curology! ANDALOU NATURALS - BB Argan Stem Cell Benefit Balm, Clear Skin, SPF 30, Un-Tinted, 2 fl oz (58 ml) This SPF is THICK and leaves a WHITE mask over your face no matter how much or little you put on. I don’t like the consistency of the texture of the formula from this lotion. I do feel like it really is protecting my skin and it doesn’t leave a greasy finish. I am using this product because I am almost done with it anyway. I will NOT be repurchasing this product though because I have tried way better facial SPF’s. dr.organic - Aloe Vera Gel Maximum Strength I LOVE mixing this with my Curology lotion and SPF because again. Aloe is great for keeping your skin hydrated and plump. Aloe fights any kind of scaring so I feel that adding the aloe gel to my skin routine acts like a shield from getting bad or any acne scars!!! This formula is very light and a little sticky but does not leave your face feeling tacky. I love how cooling and refreshed it has your skin feeling too! AM SERUM ⬇️ TRULY - Hemp Oil Facial Serum This. Is. My. 4th. Bottle. Purchased.!!!! I will say nothing more than that... EYE CREAM ⬇️ Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado Look for my previous review post for this eye cream! I love love love this eye cream! Thanks babes & stay safe 🍒

Multi-purpose hydrating toner essence
Multi-purpose hydrating toner essence
The ROVECTIN - Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion is a multi purpose toner and essence that uses their own barrier repair complex to provide the skin with deep hydration, anti-aging, antioxidants, and mild exfoliation benefits. There are a ton of amazing ingredients in this such as niacinamide, adenosine, caffeine, various molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, allantoin, panthenol, arginine, licorice root extract, matricaria flower extract, centella asiatica, soybean sprout extract, papaya fruit extract, sodium pca, trehalose, and sodium polyglutamate. This has a very viscous and weighty texture that instantly wraps your skin in a hydration veil after application. It takes a bit to seep into the skin but it delivers a ton of hydration leaving a light tacky finish afterwards like most hyaluronic acid toners. I find that applying this on slightly damp skin helps lessen the time it takes for it to absorb. This reminds me of the hada labo goku-jyun premium toner (the gold bottle) in terms of how it feels on the skin except it’s slightly less viscous than hada labo. So I found that this can be a bit heavy for oilier skin types which is why I recommend applying on damp skin to help reduce the heaviness while still locking in extra hydration. Those with drier and dehydrated skin will definitely love how hydrating this is as it’ll quench your skin’s thirst. The mild exfoliation from the papaya fruit extract is also quite gentle and hasn’t caused any irritations or dryness on my skin. This didn’t cause me to breakout either. Overall, this is an amazing toner that any skin type can utilize but those with dehydrated skin will appreciate this greatly. My skin enjoyed this but I’m not sure I’d rush to repurchase this just yet. If you’re in the market for a new multi purpose, gentle, nourishing, and hydrating toner then give this a try. Have you guys tried this yet? If so, any thoughts? Rating: 4/5 🌟 #CherieCreator #Rovectin
