🤔 Which Indie Beauty Brand is Your Fav?
Jun. 18, 2020
Indie brands have been at the top of everyone’s agenda recently. To be fair, it has been that way for a while, but now more than ever, social media is making it easier for brands to get started, grow and reach new audiences; something only available to bigger labels a few years ago. Let’s be honest, the sheer number of beauty brands can seem overwhelming when trying to pick new products to add to your vanity. That’s why many people tend to stick to brands that they are familiar with or hear about all the time, but there is a large community of independently owned beauty brands that offer quality products and deserve to get some love, too.
Our standards are clearly higher than ever, and there are several excellent indie brands rising to the challenge. But what makes an indie brand? Is it safe and reliable? Where do I start? If you’re looking for new skin care, try shopping around at these four indie beauty brands that won’t disappoint.

If there's one beauty brand universally loved by editors, bloggers, and makeup artists alike, it's Glossier. The brand was founded in late 2014 by Emily Weiss. Minimalism and no-makeup makeup is promoted rather than over chiseled cheekbones created by contouring palettes often seen all over Instagram. The brand became a strong fan favorite overnight and its millennial-pink packaging can be seen everywhere.
So thanks to eye-catching packaging, savvy ingredients and clever marketing, smaller beauty brands are having a breakthrough moment. From pioneering cleaner formulations, to making affordable, accessible products - which is your favourite indie brand?
At Home Exfoliating Facial ✨✨
So I recently received the Mimi Co Exfoliating Wand via IG PR. I couldn’t wait to do a full facial and I decided to do it tonight. Order: I purchased a steamer from Amazon for $23 and I’m obsessed with it (DM me for product info). I started with UpCircle - Cleansing Face Balm With Apricot Powder As my oil cleanse to get my sunscreen from today off and any other oils and dirts. INDIE LEE - Purifying Face Wash This cleanser is perfect for getting dirts and oils from skin as well. It’s not drying and it’s totally worth it! I paired it with a face cleansing scrub brush, I also purchased from Amazon. I love it and I paid around $20 for it as well! It doubles the vibration frequency put out by Foreo. CLARISMA - Namaste Glow Energizing Face Mask This was the mask I chose for the enzyme properties. This breaks down dirts and oils in pores and dead skin cells. I also steamed my face during this time. Follain - Toning Mist: Balance + Prime This was what I sprayed over my face for the prep for my exfoliating wand. I didn’t have a true medium and I am out of Aloe Vera plants so😭 I then exfoliated with my wand starting at my cheeks and working upward and then to my forehead. I went down and to the sides of my nose. Glow slow! innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion I used the toner to cleanse my skin and get any dirts left over from me exfoliating. SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I use this as my hydrating mask. I took the back of my Mimi Co Wand on switched to the Moisturizing Setting. I gently slid upwards my entire face for the last 2 mins only and then wiped the mask off with a damp cloth. earthtoskin - Tea Time Anti Aging Eye Cream This is the most hydrating eye cream I own. I used this with the back of my cleansing brush on the heat setting! Yes it made my eye feel so hydrated and relaxed. fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This was the final step as a good moisturizer seals in everything! To prevent acne I use the SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil as my last step. I didn’t use an astringent type toner, so I wanted to still treat my skin💚
How to conceal hollow under eyes
Hollow under eyes are a pain to deal with, and I see so many people doing it incorrectly especially with baking ! I’m an advocate for healthy skin underneath to have the best makeup you can achieve, but it’s all about ingredients & layering concealer the right way. 1. For me and any one with hollow eyes should stay away from matte concealers since they suck you eyes dry to the point of you see creasing lines & putting loose setting powder will show tremendously. I start with cream based concealers 2. Use a corrector first to diminish your under eye color & smooth complexion. For me I use a concealer similar to my skin or a bit orange under my eyes 3. I top off with a shade lighter to conceal for brightening under the eyes. 4. When using a loose powder , I press in the powder to give it a seamless look because why do we want clumps or residue from the powder ? I never liked baking🙃 What are your thoughts ? How do you conceal your under eye looks?
Double Your Lash Length With Sky High Mascara!
I bought this mascara after seeing a post about it on Facebook. I love trying out new mascaras but rarely do I find one that I will use regularly like my beloved tarte - Maneater Mascara However this stuff is good. MAYBELLINE - Lash Sensational Sky High Waterproof Mascara It gave my lashes so much volume & length they literally doubled in size! My lashes are already pretty long to begin with but this made them look amazing. The photo is after applying only one coat so I can only imagine how good they will look after two or three coats! It also didn’t clump up my lashes at all. I applied it really quickly & lazily too because I was in a rush to get ready & I was still amazed! I honestly think this is going to be my new daily mascara. It is waterproof but not the annoying kind that leaves your eyes completely black when you go to take it off. It came off really easily with my POND'S - Facial Moisturizers Dry Skin Cream which is what I’ve always used to remove my eye makeup, since I was a kid! @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick

Just added to skincare routine
I usually use some of the the tatcha dewy skin collection skincare, I just added this to the routine. Literally tatcha is the only thing that keeps my skin care at this moment. The dewy collection is great for dry skin but it is a bit pricey. The $12 face mask thoooo be hitting. Anybody else use this brand or want to use it?

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.2 DAYS AGO
