Face Sunscreen that Hydrates & Protects! ☀️
It can be hard finding the right face sunscreen. There are SO many out there! Well let me tell you about PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ What is it? - A water-based sunscreen formulated with Centella extracts that help protect your skin from UV rays and harmful environments without stickiness or white residue left on the skin. It does not contain any essential oils or artificial fragrance, making it suitable for sensitive skin types. It uses SPF50+ PA++++ and photo-stable UV filter to provide soft yet powerful protection from ultraviolet rays. Is it safe for sensitive skin? - Purito excludes all the components of most common chemical UV screens that aggravate acne and irritate sensitive skin, such as Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, 2-methylbenzylidene camphor, Oxybenzone, and Abobenzone. Instead, they exclusively use EWG Green Level Grades 1 and 2 ingredients, making sure the product is suitable for all skin types. How does it work? - Unlike other sunscreens that form a physical layer to ensure UV protection, this product is absorbed into the skin where it transforms UV rays into harmless heat, so you don’t feel it on your face. Moreover, with its 70% moisture base and 4 different types of essences, it works like a moisturizing cream, making it even easier to apply natural makeup. What’s in it? - This product contains Hyaluronic acid that helps retain over 1,000 times its weight in water within the skin cells, as well as Centella asiatica extract that restores the oil/moisture balance of the skin and helps the formation of collagen which gives the skin its elasticity. In other words, it has all the necessary ingredients to keep your skin healthy and well moisturized. My review- - I purchased this product after seeing Skincare by Hyram and Whatsonvisface recommend it! I had been using Rodan and Field’s Soothe Sunscreen, but wanted something that did not sit on the skin, yet still provided hydration. I am treating my acne with clindamycin and tretinoin so I needed a sunscreen that hydrates and soothes my skin, while not clogging my pores. This sunscreen does exactly that! It rubs onto my skin so easily. It’s the perfect consistency, not too thin but not too thick. It provides hydration and protection, without being sticky or sitting on the skin. The lack of essential oils/fragrances, plus the addition of centella, means it’s non-irritating. It also contains niacinamide, which is perfect for acne-prone skin! Since I have dry skin, I use it in addition to my moisturizer, but I think if you have oily skin you could just use the sunscreen since it’s so hydrating!
Wax strips and Dermaplaning 💁🏻♀️
Hello everyone. In this post, I’d like to share more about two of my favorite facial hair removal methods: waxing & dermaplaning. 𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐱 𝐤𝐢𝐭: Nads Body Wax Strips | 24 strips, 4 calming wipes A staple product in my hair removal regime. I particularly like to purchase the “body” wax with the bigger patches. I find they work more effectively, they stick to facial hair better than those labeled “face” wax strips -- plus you get more for your money. I like to cut the strips into smaller sizes to use on my upper lip, chin, as well as my eyebrows. I dab baby powder on the areas before applying the strips. It makes the wax stick to the hair so much better and it makes it less painful. I then rub the strip on the skin for about 15 seconds and remove. None has worked as efficiently as Nads for me. It also still remains very effective even if left in a humid environment. It’s very affordable and a great value product. My previous box lasted me two years 🤯 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆. Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation, a procedure that involves a sharp tool, a scalpel, to scrape off the top layer of the skin, remove dead skin cells from the surface, and also get rid of fine vellus hair known as peach fuzz. *disclaimer: If you’re someone who’s not comfortable holding a very sharp tool though, please refrain! *If you're on prescription strength retinoid, stop using your cream at least two days (or a week) before and after doing dermaplaning. Apply hydrating and repairing skincare only. 𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥: Dynarex #10 Disposable Scalpel I do dermaplaning once a month. First, I wash my face with a gentle cleanser and let it completely dry. Keep in mind that doing the procedure on dry skin can be so irritating to some people -- in this case, you can apply facial oil before starting. I usually start scraping from my forehead going down my face. You have to be very light handed but also make sure you remove the surface layer of dead skin cells. They will come off like white little particles -- almost powdery. The overall procedure takes me around 30 minutes. I then follow up with a hydrating face mask like the Hada Labo Gokojyun or on some days, just a gentle gel moisturizer like Procure Rosacare. 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: ~ Use only gentle face mask or moisturizer after procedure. ~ Do not use the scalpel in areas with active pimples or lesions. ~ Avoid touching, washing, putting other products on the face for at least 24hrs ~ Have a healing/antibiotic ointment at hand, just in case...🙊 Overall, I find it a very beneficial procedure for me. I deal with a lot of peach fuzz/dead skin cells so exfoliating doing this makes active ingredients absorb better, even making makeup application so much easier and flawless.
Debunking Skincare Myths in 2020 – Fact Vs. Fiction!
We all fall victim to skin myths. Whether they’re passed on by our family, peers, or unproven beauty claims, it’s hard to know what is fact and what is fiction. In an e-commerce landscape where anyone and their mother can make a new skincare line, you have to be especially careful about where these products are being sourced from. Sadly, not everyone has your best interest at heart. This is partly why the Millennial and Generation Zers are notorious for being ‘brand loyal.’ The younger generations (under the age of 40), tend to trust major brand names like Google, Apple, and Starbucks, as compared to smaller brands they’ve never heard of. The same goes for their cosmetology products. Once you find an established brand that is reputable, affordable, and works for your skin – you are hooked! Right? This is all wonderful, and when you find an effective product, you should use what works for you. But! With so much false information being spread across the internet like wildfire, someone needs to debunk these myths from sources that we can trust! Let’s break down a couple of them by fact vs. fiction, shall we lovelies? Facts · Plastic Packaging Should Be Avoided Exposure to extreme temperatures can ruin your product. This is true, regardless of how high-quality the product is. You must be careful about originating countries that are shipping a product contained in plastic, especially during the hot summer months. Your skin is like a sponge. It is the largest organ on your body. So the plastic from those containers will seep into the product, therefore seeping into your skin. You can read more about this from The National Library of Medicine’s Recent Study regarding Parabens in plastic products that lead to skin toxicity through absorption. The Fix: Go for product packaging that is - - In glass jars - Reusable/Recyclable/Sustainable - Without any packaging, such as Lush’s Shampoo Bars · You Can’t Use Just Any Cleanser Everyone’s skin is unique. If you suffer from oily skin, acne, or sensitive skin, be careful about selecting a product that is too intense. If the products burn or feel painful, they’re likely stripping your skin of all of its healthy oils too. The skin is a high-functioning machine that naturally knows the pH it should possess. The Fix: This does not mean you ought to stop washing your face. No! Please wash your face! But avoid products that strip your face of its natural glow, as this often leads to increased breakouts. This may take some experimentation, but you will want a product that isn’t too harsh, painful, or intense. Fiction · You Do Not Need Sunscreen if It’s Not Sunny Outside False! Clouds are not sufficient protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays - which are the leading cause of premature aging. The Skin Cancer Foundation writes that clouds only protect against roughly, “25%” of harmful UV rays. That’s simply not enough. The Fix: Make sunscreen a daily part of your morning ritual. Some tips for finding your perfect fit are to select a sunscreen that contains/is: - Oil-free, especially if your skin is blemish-prone or you easily experience clogged pores. - Broad Spectrum, which simply means that it defends against both UVA and UVB rays. - Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide, both of which naturally reflect sun rays. · A Good Product Will Remove Wrinkles Yes and no. Many anti-aging products can significantly reduce wrinkles, diminish the appearance of fine lines, and moisturize while offering the look of ‘plumper skin.’ This is all true. However, many deep-set wrinkles cannot be removed by a topical treatment alone. Due to this, leading experts in skincare and dermatology believe that: The best treatment against wrinkles – Is prevention! The Fix: Avoid practices that are expediting the rate at which wrinkles appear on your face. Simultaneously, you should work to prevent wrinkles before they establish a permanent home on the residence of your face. Factors that increase the rate at which wrinkles set are: - Smoking tobacco - Sun exposure (UVA and UVB rays) - Alcohol and substance abuse (allow your liver to detoxify) - Air pollution and free radicals - Poor nutrition - Not enough sleep Of course, many of the influences upon your skin will be genetic. But our main takeaways for this piece are: - Avoid plastic packaging - Don’t fight your skins natural pH (leading to more breakouts and excess recalibration) - Wear sunscreen daily (even on the parts that are covered by clothes. Clothes and clouds are not enough protection!) - Prevent wrinkles through proper health, sleep, and nutrition There’s no quick-fix. Only a daily dedication to care for your body and skin from the inside out!
Expensive💰=Effective✅? For Chantecaille, my answer is...
Anti-aging is always my concern. The Chantecaille Diamond Series features anti-aging ingredients including hexapeptide and plant extracts. I've tried several products for a long time and some of them really surprised me. CHANTECAILLE - Bio Lifting Serum+ Besides peptides and plant extracts, it also contains hyaluronic acid, so besides tightening and restoration, it also helps in moisturizing and trapping water. It has a gel-like texture and is easily absorbed by the skin when one whole dropper is used each time. It's also lightweight but moisturizing, which might be a little sticky for oily skin but suitable for dry skin in spring, summer, and fall. It does a great job at maintaining skin stability, and since using it, my skin has remained radiant even when I stay up late or the seasons change. If you need an SOS serum, this might not make the cut, but if you want a product providing you with a comprehensive anti-aging effect, you won't go wrong with this. CHANTECAILLE - Bio Lifting Cream+ This upgraded version of the lifting cream has a higher concentration of its active ingredients, enhancing the lifting and tightening effect while providing an anti-inflammatory and recovery effect, so even people with sensitive skin can use it. It has a soft, lotion texture with a runny consistency. A small amount is sufficient for the entire face, but it's slightly oily, so people with oily skin might find it a little greasy and it can't be easily absorbed. I could visibly notice its tightening effect after finishing a whole bottle, and it did reduce my expression lines and dry lines, especially smile lines. My skin looks plumper now and my smile lines have also been filled out, so I'll definitely repurchase it. CHANTECAILLE - Stress Repair Concentrate+ Eye Cream Its ingredients include hexapeptide and wheat protein for fighting wrinkles and reducing fine lines, caffeine for reducing puffy eyes, and finally plant extracts for reducing pigmentation. It has an average texture which spreads easily, but it's nothing special. It's oily, and feels like it balls up when first used, also creating a warming sensation around the skin of my eyes which irritates my eyes a little. Besides reducing puffy eyes, I don't see it doing much else so I don't think it's worth its price and I won't repurchase it. CHANTECAILLE - Bio Lifting Mask Directions: After cleansing, apply it evenly on your skin for 10-15 minutes, then wipe it off (no washing required) and follow-up with your usual skincare routine or just use it as the last step of your skincare routine. The most visible effect of this lifting mask is the brightening of skin complexion. It can be used as an SOS mask after staying up late, allowing you to wake up to smoother and more delicate skin. The skin radiance and tenderness can last for up to a few days. When there are signs of inflammation of your skin, such as swollen pimples, this lifting mask helps to soothe your skin and get rid of acne while effectively reducing dry lines. It's suitable as a regular anti-aging treatment or an SOS face mask. It is more easily absorbed compared with a normal face mask and it doesn't stain pillows. CHANTECAILLE - Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask The lifting mask focuses on anti-aging but this healing mask focuses on moisturizing and soothing, and is more suitable to use in dry weather, during season change, and for repairing sunburned skin. If you have sensitive skin and are not looking for anti-aging, but rather moisturizing, maintaining skin stability, improving skin redness, etc., then it's good value for money. The Chantecaille Diamond Series is not cheap, but most of its products can be used by people with sensitive skin, balancing anti-aging and skin restoration. Are you a fan girl for Chantecaille? What's your fav anti-aging skincare products?
My Favorite Sunscreen ☀️
I have combination skin that is sensitive and acne-prone. I’m also someone who doesn’t like anything with a sticky feeling on my face! 🌱This is the Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen and it is gorgeous. ✨First of all, it passes the Not Sticky test and doesn’t leave a white cast at all. It’s basically another hydrating moisturizer for your face in the way it applies and interacts with the skin. For this reason, reapplying doesn’t feel gross or heavy and this is one of the few sunscreens I actually enjoy reapplying throughout the day which is so important! ✨This has Hyaluronic Acid in it as well as Centella to enhance the skin barrier which provides protection from ultraviolet rays and any external stressors. It also avoids things like fragrance and essential oils so it is good for sensitive skin. ✨This is $16 for 2 oz which in my opinion is great for what you’re getting. What’s your favorite sunscreen? 🌞
