Pride month has always been a time for celebration, the one time of year where you can feel safer being you. We take to the streets to celebrate each other and enjoy the fact that we’re able to exist out loud. Even if the rest of society is hostile, we know that in these celebratory spaces we’re among family. What happens when that is suddenly taken away? When we’re no longer able to congregate en mass, is there still Pride? Coronavirus has created a situation where so many people are trapped at home and potentially separated from the safety of their community. Many of us are swimming in hostile waters right now, with nothing but ourselves to keep us company. It could be bigoted family members, distance from our partner(s), or just not being able to go out and be around people. No matter the case, here are a few reminders of how much power you have as an LGBTQ person. You don’t have to be present to be present with each other. Even if we cannot see each other face to face, LGBTQ people are creative when it comes to being seen. We have online networks, we have our phones, we have so many ways to stay connected with each other. We have found ways to be loud and proud about our lives through magazines, through film, through every medium available to us! Whereas society has sometimes tried to push us out, we said “No!” and did everything in our power to deny that! Don’t be afraid to be creative during this Pride month. It doesn’t take talent or skill to be an artist or write out your thoughts and feelings, just do what feels right and it’ll be alright.

You can still be loud and proud about Pride. Being loud is what prompted the many riots that formed the origins of Gay liberation in America and around the world. From the Compton Cafeteria Riots, Stonewall, to today, LGBTQ people have always had a personal pride that propels them forward. It takes a lot for a person to say “Enough” and put themselves at risk of police brutality. It takes so much strength to look in the face of a society that hates everything about you and want a different world for yourself. You can still spread information about key historical figures in the LGBTQ movement. You can talk to your family, if they’re not awful, about what it’s like being LGBTQ. Taking personal pride in the beautiful history you have with this community is just as important as taking to the streets in a parade. Taking care of your mental health is important. Isolation can do numbers on a person’s mental health. The same could be said for a community that exists as a minority within society. When was the last time you checked in with a friend or community member? Has anyone checked in on you recently? Coronavirus may have made large gatherings more difficult, but we can still exercise caution and see each other on a smaller scale. Do that, take the proper precautions, and make sure you’re not spending too much time alone. A community is only as strong as its weakest member, and it’s up to us to take care of each other. Pride is more personal this year, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t be there for each other in a myriad of ways. There won’t be any parades, but that also means there won’t be anyone around to co-opt our experiences in the name of making money. This year is going to be different; we’re going to celebrate Pride organically and without as many distractions. I think that can be a good thing for everyone. When Pride comes around next year, we’ll all be a little bit better taken care of as a result. Be it by our own self or by the community around us, our pride will always be there no matter the circumstances.

The Best Foundation 4 Your Skin = No Foundation
The Best Foundation 4 Your Skin = No Foundation
Okay, that was kind of a clickbait title, but the answer is...BB cream (or tinted moisturizers haha)! I think the best makeup looks have natural looking finishes and BB creams and tinted moisturizers are pretty much dewy-looking light foundations! The coverage is pretty good and whenever I want more coverage, I just simply apply concealer on top. I used to wear foundations a lot and looking back at pictures...yikes. It looked super thick, texturized, and just off. I’ll be honest, I was probably using the wrong shade and foundation formulas, but they just seemed to never work for my skin. I have combination skin, am pretty pale with a yellow undertone, and struggle with red cheeks. Foundations always seemed to be too pink or orange for my skin tone, to the point that I even added yellow food coloring to my foundations in an attempt to create a tailored concoction just for me (omg I still can’t believe I did that). Pls don’t ever do that!!! In hindsight, I think going natural is just better period. When it came to experimenting with makeup in high school, I tended to be way too heavy-handed (this includes my past eyebrows, that’s for another day) so I’m telling you this now, natural is the way to go. Back in 2016, the makeup crave was the “Instagram look” with dark eyebrows, dark lip, heavy contouring, and more. I followed this trend and I must say, even if the look looked good on camera, trust me when I say it did not look good up close and personal. I will say though, if you prefer this style, totally go for it and rock it!!! This is just some of the advice I would give my younger self if I could! I currently use the Maybelline Dream BB cream with 2% salicylic acid in 110 light/medium sheer tint (my fav) and the Smashbox Halo all-in-one tinted moisturizer in light (has SPF 25 and primer which I love!) The Maybelline BB cream is definitely my go-to because it doesn’t texturize my face, unlike the Smashbox one does at times. They both don’t feel as heavy as foundations, blend really well with my face, and are perfect for natural and/or glam makeup looks. They always end up looking super fresh and dewy plus I just feel like my skin won’t soak up as much stuff into it. If you haven’t tried it yet, I totally recommend trying some out! #cheriepartner

Welcome back to my page! Today I’m talking about one of my recent foundation discoveries! Drum roll please for COVERGIRL - Outlast Active Foundation ! This baby came into my life at a time when I was at my most active and wanted some coverage for when I was at the gym! Before I dive deep into my review, I want to give you all some background info! I have oily/combo skin with slightly enlarged pores! I am on the more light side of a light/medium skin tone complexion. My under tone is neutral. My current concern is dealing with black heads (which you see in my up and personal picture 😅). My expectations from a solid foundation is one that doesn’t make my skin even oiler than what it is, it stays in place for at least my work day, it spreads easily and evenly, and it gives me mid to buildable coverage! This Outlast Active foundation claims to be “sweat proof, transfer proof, and humidity proof for 24 hours and does not clog pores.” Currently, I see 18 shades available on Covergirls website. Covergirl is cruelty free 👏🏼. Each tube comes with 1 fl oz and can be found for as little as $6.00 on sites like Amazon or Walmart. I stayed in the caption it’s under $20 because the shade I use with is (840) retails for $15.00 at my local CVS. This is a reasonable price range for a drug store makeup brand! This foundation is not heavy at at all and it meant to be lightweight product for people who are used to an active lifestyle. You can go to a gym with a full face of makeup and half if not more will be gone by the time you’re done with the workout. That is why this foundation! The proof is in the pictures! The first picture is me at about 9 hour wear period! I did my makeup around 9:00 am, worked out at 1:30, and snapped the pictures at 6:15ish pm. It 100% delivers in the thinks I want because I don’t feel like it makes my skin more oily, I can build it up in coverage if I wanted to, and my pores are visible but not as much when I’m not wearing makeup. Obviously, I do not wear foundation for 24 hours long so I cannot say if that statement is true but 9 hour wear period is good enough for me! The main benefit and highlight is that if you’re into sports or other activities then this is the product for you! No more need to use high end foundation just to sweat it off or go bare face (again please rock whatever you want 👍🏼)! Since this product is cruelty free, I think it would be good for people with sensitive skin. My personal trick is to apply primer before the foundation and then set with powder and setting spray post foundation application for maximum duration! I also use a Beauty Blender sponge when applying my foundation to ensure I get it even and nice all around. From my pictures you can see that this foundation looks good with natural or artificial light! I even took a super close up so y’all can see how long lasting this foundation truly is! Let me know if y’all end up trying it out 😊! #CheriePartner

...Sorry, but I just really like Fall 😜 Also I wanted to use my brand new HipDot Zion palette that I just received from BoxyCharm. I wanted to do a soft fall look today with no lashes and everything, but this palette was so pigmented that it ended up being a dramatic look. I wasn’t expecting that. The shades look muted and toned down in the pan, but once you apply on your lids it’s so pigmented and punchy that it was hard to blend it out because even the lightest shade has impact. It’s good because it didn’t take some time to build up, but I would be careful with this palette especially if you want a soft and toned down look. I was pretty impressed with this palette. I’ve heard great things about HipDot, but I didn’t expect the shadows to perform this well. Also I’ve gotten numerous palettes from BoxyCharm that are lack luster. Consider yourself lucky if you’re subscribed to BoxyCharm and get this on your box this month. HIPDOT - Zion Eyeshadow Palette I used: -Grounded (transition and lower lash) -Narrows (crease) -Canyon (buff out edges) -Vibration (outer corner and lower lash) -Angels Landing (lid) -Virgin (inner corner and brow highlight) -Colourpop Jelly Much Shadow in Sagauro (on top of Angels Landing) I used MAC lipstick in the shade persistence on my lips. If you’re not subscribed to BoxyCharm and want this palette, it is available on HipDot’s website for 30 USD. Not bad for a 15 eyeshadow pan. What is your favorite season? Francesca 💋 #CheriePartner
