Addressing Skin Blues — Cherie's Guide to Properly Transition From Winter to SpringWhen the seasons change, so should your skincare routine!
You’ve spent months of trotting around in the snow, dodging slush, and avoiding frost. The sun’s finally within reach now, and spring greets you on the horizon. Winter is almost gone, taking with it glum moods and dry, itchy skin. You’ve probably spent the first quarter of the year slathering serum on top of balms and oils, but with increased humidity and warmer air at hand, your skin may be in for a shock. How do you properly prepare your skin for the sunny season? Below are some steps to help you transition from winter to spring:Step #1: Change your moisturizerApplying generous amounts of thick cream may have saved your facial skin during winter, but springtime calls for different needs. Sticking to a thick cream moisturizer will prevent your skin from breathing, which could result in clogged pores and unavoidable breakouts. Look for a moisturizer with a thinner consistency instead, as your skin will need all the help it can get to regulate your body temperature (Hint: The process is done through your pores!). Ensure that it comes with SPF as well, especially since the sun will be up more frequently. If you’re exposed to the sun for longer periods, switch to a product with an SPF of 30 or higher. At night, a water gel cream will do your face more justice as it hydrates without leaving you feeling sticky and uncomfortable. Remember: To keep your skin truly hydrated and glowing, apply your moisturizer as soon as you get out of the bath—slightly damp skin will seal the water particles better Step #2: Stay hydratedsome text hereStep #3: Reduce your exfoliating sessionsThe power of exfoliation is undeniable, especially during the winter season. Dry, dead skin cells create chaos on otherwise healthy skin, as they clog your pores and prevent products from penetrating your skin. As soon as the weather gets warmer, however, there will be enough humidity in the air to keep your pores more open and receptive to skincare products. With this in mind, reduce your exfoliating sessions. With your pores already vulnerable, you risk causing small tears in your skin. Step #4: Lighten up on product useAs with your moisturizer choice, exchange those winter makeup staples to lighter products. Foundation may have been the best choice for winter, but use a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream for warmer temperatures. This allows your skin to breathe—remember that your pores are open, to anything of too much can easily clog them. If you can, go for an SPF tint or BB cream for maximum sun protection. Switch your matter cream lippies to tints and balms instead, and your powdered blush into stains. The best way to take care of your skin is to use less!ConclusionWhile the steps mentioned above are foolproof ways to a spring transition, there is no universal solution to address all skincare blues. Skin types vary and the way a product responds to an individual may not be the case for you. Use this as a guide, but remember to listen to your body! You know it better than anyone else. Clear skin the gentle way?
Thank you @cheriefor this amazing gift 🤩 “buh-koo-chee-all” HERBIVORE - Bakuchiol Anti-Aging Serum I’ve already become a diehard Herbivore lover. So to receive this beauty was super exciting. When I started my acne journey on Cherie I was (and still am) a Differin Acne Gel stan. This was my choice of retinol and I wanted it strong to treat acne and boost my cellular turnover. Now that my acne is currently under control and it’s getting hot again, I definitely want something smooth and gentle. Bakuchiol is a gentler alternative to the very popular ingredient retinol. So essentially you’ll get overall youthful results for your skin. I haven’t tested this on my acne theory yet, but overall my face has been smooth and irritation free. This serum does not have a smell which I love for products of this caliber. I also love that it’s light and not drying at all. I use this at night and since i have a tolerance to retinol I use it every night. I haven’t been using it long enough to see results (about 12 weeks) but I definitely can’t wait to finish this. Have you tried Bakuchiol?

Do It All Toner 🍃🍃
I have been loving the brand Truly lately ✨ I recently purchased this: 🍃TRULY - CBD Jelly Toning Solution 🍃 And it’s by far one of my favorite toners. Ingredients: 💚100MG CBD 💚Glycolic Acid 💚Tea Tree Oil 💚Organic Aloe 💚Rose Petal Extract This brand is also: 💚Vegan 💚Cruelty Free 💚Clean I use this every other night and it as tremendously helped my skin barrier and acne. I was really concerned about the glycolic acid irritating or drying my skin but it didn’t at all 🤩 I highly recommend this to combo and oily , acne prone skin. This will be a toner I keep in my night routine. I got it from Ulta (of course) for $24 (I paid $15 after coupons) Do you use CBD products? 🍃

Wednesday Wellness 🙏🏾
This past week has been rather hard and long for me. I ultimately decided to get back on track with my wellness plan. My main wellness goal for 2021, is to indulge in myself more. I definitely am a firm believe in “as within, so without”. I started my day with: #Four Sigmatic - Mushroom Elixir Mix with Chaga[products]#[FiveStars] I have been getting back into adaptogen and herbal medicine. What we put into our bodies is just as important as what goes on the outside. Adaptogens are apart of ancient medicinal traditions traced all over the world. I also drink Tulsi “Holy Basil” Tea. If you need a pick me up or emotional boost I highly recommend! SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil is my treatment of choice I used during the day. Do not be afraid to use salicylic acid during the day. I applied plenty of sunscreen afterwards as well! This is a GODSEND for clearing up acne and acne scarring. It’s by far the best acne treatment I’ve tried and its mostly due to the immediate results I get. This is a dry oil, so it should be used before a heavy moisturizer or sunscreen. THE BODY SHOP - Spa of the World Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil is a staple in my night time routine. When I want to relax and really unwind I use a body roller with this oil. It smells like a fresh key lime pie and it’s so hydrating. This is great for firming, especially when paired with a body tool. What do you do for wellness?
