Professional Brand: Dr Dennis Gross Skincare
In this series we’re shining the spotlight on the brands that you want to know more about. The beauty world is inundated with brands and products, with new ones launching on a daily basis, so it can be hard to know what’s worth your attention (and investment). We’ll be covering everything from how the brand was founded to its key concept and best-selling products.
In 2020 skincare consumers are even more informed than ever before and are so clued up on ingredients that they’ve even earned themselves the nickname ‘skintellectuals’. For the skincare savvy, drugstore brands don’t quite cut it – they're looking for skincare that’s derm-approved and mimics the results of professional facial treatments. Which is where cult skincare brand Dr Dennis Gross comes in. Formulated by an A-list dermatologist with over 25 years of experience in the field, the brand is designed to bridge the gap between clinical-grade skincare and everyday products and bring a little dermatological expertise to the everyday routine.
Having treated thousands of patients, Dr Dennis Gross offers products designed to target the most common skin issues seen in clinics, using ingredients in strengths as powerful as they can be, at the highest grade available, while staying within the limits that permit them to be sold direct to consumers. Above all, the brand offers the convenience and quality of a professional treatment to those who lead busy lives and aren’t always able to squeeze in a visit to the clinic.
While the products are packed with active ingredients and can lead to dramatic results, Dr Gross’ key belief (which he applies to all products) is that treatments and products should never damage the skin. The majority of them are suitable for all skin types and there is something to suit every concern, from acne to scarring, fine lines, and dehydration.
The brains behind the brand is Dr Dennis Gross himself, a board-certified dermatologist from New York. The brand was unofficially born in 2002 when he created an early version of one of its bestselling products (the Alpha-Beta Peel) for his wife, Carrie, who was concerned about premature aging. At the time it was a doctor-only procedure available exclusively at Dr Gross’ Manhattan office, and it was Carrie who suggested making an at-home version of the peel. This ultimately led to the official birth of the brand, back in 2002. The Alpha-Beta Peel was an instant hit and established the brand as a reliable, research-backed go-to for skincare savvy shoppers. Eighteen years later, the brand is retailed across the world and is a familiar name in the beauty community, beloved by influencers and beauty editors alike. But even now, every product is still created from scratch by Dr Gross, who enjoys self-experimenting with formulas in the early stages of formulation.
The brand’s products are split into six categories. The most popular is Alpha Beta (a selection of at-home peel products), but there’s also Alpha Beta Glow (at-home exfoliating and smoothing products which incorporate elements of self-tan to give skin a sunless glow), Ferulic + Retinol (an anti-aging range starring retinol and antioxidants), C + Collagen (a popular vitamin C line), Hyaluronic Marine (hydration boosting products for dry and dehydrated skin) and Dr Dennis Gross Rx (a high-tech line which includes at-home LED light masks and a facial steamer).
The original Alpha-Beta Peel is still one of the bestsellers and was one of the first products to introduce daily chemical exfoliation into the mainstream. Available in different strengths, the two-step treatment delivers a cocktail of acids, antioxidants, and vitamins via pre-soaked pads that can be swiped effortlessly onto skin to lift away dead skin cells and impurities, and resulting in a clearer skin tone and smoother skin texture.

Is this sunscreen worth the hype?
There is 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻 without 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻. And, the 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 is the one that you will wear religiously. Is 𝗜𝗦𝗗𝗜𝗡 𝗘𝗿𝘆𝗳𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗨𝗹𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 tinted mineral sunscreen worth the hype? #Isdin - ISDIN Eryfotona Ageless Ultralight tinted mineral sunscreen[products]#[FourStars] Pros ☀️ 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 sunscreen aka physical blocker, thus broad spectrum ☀️ Contains 𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀, though unclear of percent. May provide protection against blue light. ☀️ One of the few tinted moisturizers that blends in well in skin of color. The tint is so homogenous and nice that you can away with not applying foundation after. ☀️ Contains 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗹𝘆𝗮𝘀𝗲, an enzyme, that help repair damage caused by the sun. Not too thick or too thin, apply easily on the skin. ☀️ contains 𝗩𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗘, an antioxidant as well as moisturizing Cons 🥴 𝗢𝗶𝗹𝘆, would not recommend for oily skin 😱 $$$ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲, it is definitely a splurge when there are comparable more frugal options out there.
Antioxidants in skincare
Free radicals are produced as a byproduct in the body as well as are result of various external sources including ultraviolet radiations, pollution, pesticides, smoking. They damage the body’s healthy cells. Antioxidants help neutralise these excess free radicals and prevent damages to DNA, protein, lipids. They are produced endogenously in our body but certain factors affect the amount of antioxidants required to scavenge these free radicals. To prevent our skin from oxidative stress damage, topical application of antioxidants have proven to be beneficial.
✨Cute Bun Hairstyle✨
Hi Guys!!! I recently saw this scrolling on Pinterest and I wanted to recreate it! It’s SO easy and took about 5 minutes total!! It looks so fancy yet it’s so simple! I have medium to thin hair but this can work on pretty much all hair types! (: (tip: spray texture spray beforehand) this helps it stay in better!)☺️ HOW TO: -I like to pull my bangs out first (: - you’re going to section it as if you’re doing a half up half down hairstyle -then you’re going to start twisting that part of your hair -I twist it around like I’m doing a ballerina bun😅 -then I secure it with a hair tie ❤️ -you can leave like that! Or I like to pull it out a little so it’s more loose!✨😊
Let’s learn a no heat style! Start by gathering your hair to one side Begin a rope braid in the front by twisting two pieces. Add hair to each section and twist again. Continue this pattern until you reach your ear. Split the remaining hair into two. While holding the section pop index finger and thumb through. Grab through the other section and repeat! Secure with an elastic. Xo
Glass skin? Uhm YES!
This mist is so fun to use. You can use it with makeup or on its own! I tend to use it on bare skin for a natural glowing look. It is a fine mist that moisturizes, nourishes and helps fight damage. It also helps fight irritation and calm the skin. I will be posting a video a little later of me using this before makeup application! Makeup glides on after using this to prep the skin. What’s in it: peach extract Hyaluronic acid Reishi mushroom lotus extract cica ceramides much more! This product has so many awesome ingredients, it’s hard not to love! PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Veil Mist I will give this a 5/5! Pros: can be used to refresh makeup can be used on bare skin hydrating calming gives a wonderful dewy glow smells nice Cons: $30 for a mist is a bit pricey but this mist does so much in return 💞 let me know a mist you love!
