While the summer sun and a nice tan sounds great, the UVA and UVB rays from the sun can be incredibly harmful to you and your skin. Persistent sun exposure without sunscreen can lead to several adverse consequences like premature aging, sunspots, and even cancer. Even though a lot of us have been staying inside recently, it's still important to wear sunscreen daily — the sun's rays can penetrate windows and still affect your skin. My acne fighting duo for under $20
My acne fighting duo for under $20
Some acne honesty: Although these worked really well for me, they might not work for everyone. Your skin is unique and might react better to different products. It can be a really frustrating process, I totally get it! What worked for me was finding someone online who had a similar skin type and similar story when it came to acne. Just always remember to take it easy on yourself. Acne is normal and it doesn’t make you any less beautiful. My current skin situation: I currently have combination, acne prone skin. I had very clear skin for most of my life until I went off birth control over a year ago now. I tried almost everything to try and get rid of my acne, but it took months to find a solution. It was just earlier this year that I finally found a couple products that helped keep acne at bay! I barely gets zits anymore (bless) but when I do, it can be very discouraging. My skin scars very very easily and it takes at least a month to get rid of the scars left over from the acne. SO anytime I see a zit pop up, I reach for these two products which help me 1) get rid of that zit quickly and 2) minimize the potential for future acne scars. How I use these together: Benzagel - Acne Gel 5% (face wash version) I usually use this just at night time because I just do a water cleanse in the morning. But when I get a pimple, during the morning I’ll cover the zit with the face wash for about a minute then wash that off. Then I’ll proceed with the rest of my routine, but I’ll avoid using any vitamin c / spf on the pimple. And then this where I’ll add the.... COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch When I have a zit I will wear one of these during the day and a new one at night. It’s a grossly satisfying product because once you take them off, you can see the amount of oils that it has pulled from the skin / zit (you’ll see a white blob on the patch). The effects: After just 24 hours, the zit will almost fully disappear when I use the two of these together. The spot will be so much smaller than it is when I let the acne heal itself and the scarring is minimal, if noticeable at all. Which is amazing considering my normal pimples almost always scar (even if I DONT pop them). The best part: You can get both of these products for less than $10 CAD!
Battle of the Face Cleansers
Battle of the Face Cleansers
My skin type is combo oily that can lean more dry during the weather changes or just randomly. My skin concerns are acne, oiliness throughout the day and also dehydration. I’ve ranked the face washes I currently have open right now based on how they worked for me personally (starting from favorite). My all time favorite is COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser because I can actually tell a difference in my skin, unlike the other cleansers and can be used AM and PM. . COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser Key Ingredients: Tea Tree and Beta Hydroxy Acids (work together to refine pores, control oil, and soften skin). Texture/Consistency: Gel that turns to foam Scent: Very strong Tea Tree scent Price: $14 for 5.07 oz Experience: I use this as my AM cleanser and it does a good job of removing the previous night’s skincare and having a new base for my AM skincare. It foams a lot, so only need a small amount of product. Since I’ve been using this, my face has gotten more smooth and not as oily throughout the day. I knocked off a star since the scent is so strong of tea tree. Repurchase/Recommend?: I will repurchase this and recommend this because it’s a great value and only need a small amount of product. My combo oily skin also agrees with this formula, I’m so excited to use it this summer and see how and if it helps my skin. . MARIO BADESCU - Glycolic Foaming Cleanser Key Ingredients: Glycolic acid (exfoliates the skin and dissolves dulling dead skin cells to help refine pores and retexturize uneven skin), and a soothing blend of chamomile, marshmallow, safe, St. John’s wort, and yarrow extracts (work together to provide additional rejuvenating benefits that help re-balance and leave skin radiant). Texture/Consistency: Gel that turns to foam Scent: Price: $16 for 6 oz / 177 mL Experience: I use this maybe 2-3 times a week (as directed for oily skin) and haven’t noticed much of a difference in my skin. It performs just like any other cleanser to me. I use it as my second cleanse and it’s just meh. Honestly not impressed with this and glad I got it as a free sample. Repurchase/Recommend?: I would not repurchase or recommend this, I haven’t noticed any special benefit over any other cleanser. . philosophy - Clear Days Ahead Oil-Free Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment Cleanser Key Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (helps prevent breakouts). Texture/Consistency: Gel Scent: Very strong orange scent Price: $22 for 8 oz Experience: Even after using this a couple times a week as my second cleanse at night, I’ve only seen a minimal amount of reduction in my acne and can’t contribute it solely to this. The scent is so strong that I can smell it for a while after washing my face. It can be difficult to completely wash off the face. Repurchase/Recommend?: No, too expensive for what it does.
Battle of the Hyped Sunscreens
Battle of the Hyped Sunscreens
My skin type is combo oily that can lean more dry during the weather changes or just randomly. My skin concerns are acne, oiliness throughout the day and also dehydration. I’ve ranked these popular hyped sunscreens based on how they worked for me personally (going from favorite to least favorite). My favorite is Unseen because it’s a primer and sunscreen in one, is lightweight and I haven’t had an issue with pilling. I prefer SPF 40 or higher. . Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Key Ingredients: Complex Derived from Meadowfoam Seed (increases hydration levels), and Red Algae (helps protect against blue light emitted by electronic devices). Texture/Consistency: Gel Scent: None Price: $34 for 1.7 oz / 50 mL Experience: Is designed to be used as a primer, makes it quicker to get ready. It feels so lightweight, I can’t even tell that I’m wearing it throughout the day, doesn’t pill or make me oily. Repurchase/Recommend?: Yes, I definitely am going to purchase the full size of this! It simplifies my routine and lightweight. . Supergoop! - Play Everyday Lotion 50 Default Title Key Ingredients: Sunflower Extract (protects your skin from external environmental elements) and Rosemary Leaf Extract (has a calming effect on the skin and is rich in antioxidants). Texture/Consistency: Lotion Scent: None Price: $32 for 5.5 oz / 162 mL OR $58 for 18 oz / 532 mL Experience: It was too heavy on top of a moisturizer and made me look greasy, but applied by itself it was lovely (have a glow, but wasn’t too heavy). It also doesn’t pill when I put my makeup on. Repurchase/Recommend?: Yes, it would be more for people with dry skin, but it’s moisturizing enough to act as my moisturizer too so I apply it by itself (or on top of serum). . FIRST AID BEAUTY - Weightless Liquid Mineral SPF 30 Key Ingredients: Zinc Oxide (physical sunscreen that helps filter harmful UV rays) and Alteromonas Ferment Filtrate and Vitamin E (both help protect against environmental aggressors). Scent: None Texture/Consistency: Liquidy Price: $34 for 1.5 oz / 44 mL Experience: I love that this is tinted, it doesn’t leave a white cast at all! It is lightweight, easily sinks in, and doesn’t make me oily throughout the day. It also doesn’t pill at all, so easy to put makeup on after. Repurchase/Recommend?: Maybe, I just wish it was a higher SPF. . DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 Key Ingredients: Zinc Oxide (physical sunscreen that protects from harmful rays) and Algae Extract and Sunflower Sprout Extract (both protect against free radical damage). Scent: None Texture/Consistency: Lightweight Cream Price: $36 for 2 oz / 60 mL Experience: It feels heavy and doesn’t sink in all the way, plus pilled and made my CC Cream look cakey and terrible. Repurchase/Recommend?: No, it pilled badly and doesn’t work well with makeup on me.
A Tale Of Three Snail Creams
A Tale Of Three Snail Creams
I’m not gonna lie, my combination skin makes it hard for me to find good face creams. My t-zone tends to be oily while my cheeks tend to be dry. Sometimes, my skin would even fluctuate between dry and oily, which is simply annoying. I’ve tried three different snail creams before, one of which I’m still using at the moment. This is my verdict for all three, as someone with combination skin. DEWYTREE - Ultra Vitalizing Snail Cream This cream was the very first product I tried from this Korean brand, actually. My boyfriend gifted it to me during one of his trips to Korea. It costs around $22 for 80ml. I actually didn’t like this cream a lot, mainly because of the smell. It’s hard to explain, but it doesn’t smell like something you’d want to put on your face. It’s moisturizing but it didn’t make me oily, which was good. I could even wear it under my makeup as long as I only used a little bit of it. Coreana Winage Snail Magic Cream This is one of my favorite creams in the whole world. Just like the last cream, this was also bought for me by my boyfriend. More specifically, it was his mom who recommended this cream for me since apparently it has a very good reputation among Koreans. It costs roughly $30 for 100ml, which isn’t a bad price at all. I found it quite perfect for my combination skin. It moisturized my skin just enough to avoid dryness but it got absorbed pretty quickly too so I never became oily while using this. I wanted to continue using this after I ran out, but it’s not available in my country and my boyfriend wasn’t able to buy one again during his last Korea trip. Dr. G Black Snail CreamDr.G - Black Snail Cream If you have dry skin, and I mean really dry skin, this cream is perfect for you. It’s quite thick so I use it only at night. At roughly $50 for 50ml, it’s the most expensive of the three, but it works so well that I’m actually already on my second tub. This was also recommended for me by my boyfriend’s mom because apparently it’s a popular cream in Korea. I still prefer Coreana over this though, mainly due to how thick this is. It’s really more suited towards dry skin people than normal or oily skin people. Of these three snail creams, I’d say you should check out Coreana if you’ve got normal or combination skin, and Dr. G if you have dry skin. Dewytree isn’t so bad for normal or combination skin too, but you’re honestly better off with these other options.

Well this was recorded before I gave my final verdict on May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon, so at this time it was still on my trial period; I have a full dedicated review to it, if you want more info please read it🙏🏼😌 Let’s start reviewing: #Arcona - Night Worker [PM][products]#[FourStars] I just wish it was a true serum. Other than that it smells nice, like peaches or apricot; it’s mostly clean and has really good sourced ingredients; made in the USA; it’s a smaller company and they produce products freshly. The consistency is like a cream so if you have dry skin/normal or combo/dry, this will work greatly for you as it doesn’t irritate at all. Also the Vitamin C is stable as the container is completely opaque and has a pump which is also great. Definitely see some brightening action and smoothing of the fine lines in my forehead. SkinMedica - Retinol Complex 1.0 It is really gentle for being a 1%, I assume it’s due to it being encapsulated retinol, which means it gets released slowly and not all at once. Definitely no irritation even when I use my DE glycolic serum/gel and followed it with this. I just wished, again, that the consistency was more thin. Other than that great formula and packaging keeps everything stable as well. facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10 I feel like it has definitely help with my acne, as I started breaking out due to hormonal imbalances and this helped greatly. I do however like the Good molecules Niacinamide as it’s cheaper and has zero stickiness to it and absorbs quicker. I am mixing this with my Chanel Le Blanc lotion and that helps this product sink in way faster as well as to not have that sticky feeling. #Facetheory - Regena C20 serum[products]#[FiveStars] I have to further keep using it, but right now it has given me zero irritation, has great ingredients and other brighteners besides vit C and sinks right in. may lindstrom skin - The Blue Cocoon Please read my review on this. BURT’S BEES - Rosewater Toner Love it, great for texture! Wish it had less alcohol. Chanel Le Blanc Lotion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As usual, 5 stars, I have reviewed it multiple times and just can’t get over what a great product it is. Aesop - Gentle Facial Cleansing Milk It’s okay. Nothing exorbitant. I would say it’s good if you have really dry skin or for the winter months. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Smoothing Gel Exfoliator 150ml Smells great, leaves my skin soft as a baby’s behind, really small exfoliating beads, none irritating, good price, lasts a long time and doubles as cleanser after taking your makeup off, of course. GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask For now I give it 4 stars as I need to use it for a longer period of time. Good thing’s about it: doesn’t irritate or make my eyes water, hydrates and smoothens. Wish it wasn’t in a jar.
