However, the safety of your beauty and skincare products can be just as important as whether or not you choose to participate in social distancing. I had the chance to speak with IFSCC award-winning young scientist and CEO and co-founder of Acaderma, Dr. Shuting Hu.Tell me about your background as a cosmetic scientist in skincareDuring my Ph.D. and post-doctoral research, I specialized in skin biology and phytochemistry. In my nine years, I discovered a series of amazing natural, active ingredients that are novel and unlike many others widely used in the market. I created my clean skincare line, Acaderma, by screening, purifying and identifying more than 1,000 compounds over the years. Harnessing these potent actives, I studied their action mechanisms and conducted clinical trials to target what was most efficacious. Then came formulation design: a delivery system that made sure our active botanical ingredients penetrate your skin to the basal layer. It’s my mission to ensure our scientific integrity is delivered to the final product in your beauty cabinet. Why is it important to take care of your beauty and skincare products? It may seem self-evident, but you use your skincare and beauty products every day, if not frequently. It’s important to treat these with care by knowing exactly what you are applying to your face, as your epidermis is sensitive. If you don’t sanitize or cleanse your product surfaces, your skin may be more prone to irritation or contamination from accumulated germs. What is important to know about skincare/beauty products in a time like this?During this time of social distancing and staying indoors, we are all exposed more than ever to blue light rays. It’s important to incorporate protective skincare products like the Invisible Shield Defense Serum to help fight free radicals and environmental stress from damaging the skin surface. Research has shown that even indoor blue light can progress the development of photo-aging, fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, if you occasionally step out and wear face masks, you might notice skin irritation and dryness. It’s also beneficial to incorporate gentle moisturizers or serums such as the Oasis Barrier Booster to soothe, calm, and repair redness and skin barrier damages. How can people keep their products safe to use? It’s important to wash your hands thoroughly prior to contact with your beauty products and applying them on your skin. As long as you are conscious of your contact surfaces, you are reducing the chances of spreading any contamination. More generally, read instructions on your products carefully and avoid leaving your products open, as once it comes into contact with air, the efficacy decreases while microbial risk increases. What are some best practices for at-home skincare right now?If your beauty products were possibly left open, it depends on what part of it has been in contact. If you’re worried about the container, you can make it safe by using 60% or higher alcohol to sanitize and cleanse. If you’re worried about the content inside—for example, you didn’t wash your hands, then opened the jar and touched the cream—leave it untouched for several days before the next use, as the virus cannot survive on its own for a long period of time after leaving human contact. Another common misconception is that we are safe from UV radiation indoors. However, we are still exposed to UV light rays indoors for up to several feet from windows, which can also lead to free radical skin cell damage. It’s best to use an antioxidant serum in combination with sunscreen to provide broader protection for your skin. Is there anything else you think readers need to know about product safety? The best precautions start prior to even touching your skincare products. If you want to take precautions at home, it will be most effective to treat it like a lab — a set “contamination zone” near your front door and designated “clean zone“ for the rest of your space. From the moment you return home, you can leave all contaminated items (outer clothes, shoes, handbags, etc.) in the “contaminated zone” and then wash your hands and sterilize all items you bring into the “clean zone“ - like cell phones - to prevent further spread into your beauty cabinet!

I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
☁️This 2-part treatment system takes 20+ minutes. You do it on dry hair before you shampoo & condition. First you saturate your hair with Nº 0, wait 10 minutes, don’t rinse, then add Nº 3 & leave on for an additional 10+ minutes. Nº 3 can be used alone, but Nº 0 is meant to be used only as a precursor for Nº 3. I originally bought this for my bf’s heavily damaged hair, but he’s so lazy about using anything😑 So finally we made it happen. My hair isn’t currently damaged from bleach like it used to be, however, because I have a neurological disease, some days I’m in so much pain, tossing & turning in bed all day, I pull my hoodie over my head & use a heating pad on it. Days like this my thick hair becomes a wreck. Swipe for photos. I definitely get a lot of breakage around my hairline, I’m so over it lol, I’ve got silk pillowcases coming in the mail💤💌 I picked a “bad hair day” like this from the other day after my flareup calmed down to try this 2-part treatment system for you guys. I’m aware that no hair treatment can make a strand of hair full length again once it’s snapped short... I was more curious to see what this treatment could do for my bf’s hair. He washes it waaay too much because he thinks it’s dirty due to his job, which gives his hair tons of sun damage. I was mortified when he told me he washes it twice a day! Don’t do this! It strips away your natural oils! His hair is so brittle & dry! OLAPLEX - No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Kit $28/5.2 of Nº 0 + 1 oz of Nº 3 Everyone seems to be raving about Olaplex products, so I had my hopes set pretty high. This may be an unpopular opinion, but this treatment didn’t impress me much. I have to use sooo much product for my hair & it’s only shoulder length. My hair is extremely thick, I’m no stranger to using extra product, but this was a little ridiculous. I used almost the entire full size Nº 0 & every last drop of the sample size Nº 3. The amount I used on my bf was quite little. His hair is very thin & only like 4-5” long. OLAPLEX - No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment $28/5.2 oz He thought I was using a lot, because the nozzle dispenses so slowly (which is good I guess because the consistency is like water) but the level only went down about a half inch. Not really any scent. I found it so time consuming to do this step myself. The applicator made me feel like I was in highschool using box dye. I actually transferred it to an empty (& clean) Briogeo spray bottle because I was so frustrated. It dispensed it a lot faster, but still be very careful. I had a cut on finger & it burned really bad, so don’t get it in your eyes! OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector $28/3.3 oz Similar to typical hair conditioner in texture/consistency/scent-easy to apply. THE RESULTS: His hair: still fried This just wouldn’t be feasible for my hair considering I emptied a $28 bottle for 1 use. Hair was soft after nothin special.

🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
Happy Saturday Cherie Sisters 👯‍♀️ 💕 I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I have been loving cool toned eyeshadows lately. I think they are the perfect tones to wear during fall and winter time so I purchased my first Natasha Denona product and got the glam palette. I fell in love with the color story and can see myself reaching for this palette often. So far the eyeshadows feel so luxurious. They are pigmented and I can do a look with just one dip. They blend themselves too so doing a look isn’t too time consuming. NATASHA DENONA - Glam Eyeshadow Palette When I saw that Colourpop announced their That’s Taupe collection, I knew I had to get the eye palette because it looked very similar to my glam palette. I wanted to do a comparison so you guys can decide if you need to spend $65 for the Natasha Denona one. So far these are up to par with Colourpop quality. The eyeshadows are pigmented and they included a couple super shock formula on the palette. These are great quality for the price. #Colourpop - That’s Taupe[products]#[FiveStars] So the Colourpop palette isn’t a complete dupe to the ND one, but there are some shades that are really similar to each other. Once blended on the eye, you can hardly tell the difference. The only difference between the two is the quality. The ND palette was pigmented after one dip and blended quickly. I had to dip 3-4x in the CP pan to match the pigmentation for the ND one. It also took time blending it out. Overall, the end results are the same, but it took half the time to work with the ND palette because it was much easier to work with. If cool-toned eyeshadows aren’t you your alley, but still want it on your collection, I say stick with CP. also if you don’t mind spending the extra time building up the color and blending then save the $51 difference. If you are someone who is looking for quality then definitely go for the glam palette. This will save you time and you won’t use as much product because it’s so pigmented. Do you prefer cool tones or warm tones? Xoxo, Francesca 💋

WOOOT! FIRST CHERIE VIDEO EYE TUTORIAL! Uploads have been coming in a little later in the day because videos take a WEEEEEE longer to make. 😊 This video has a lot of information packed into one minute! Be sure to pause, rewatch and pay close attention! I didn’t expose my camera correctly so the skin tones might look off but I promise that it won’t compromise the final results of what the shadow will look like in person! It will still look like the photo I previously posted of this look! The more pigment you place on your eye, the more it’ll show. This video shows the basic steps of what I did to create this look 😄 Feel free to ask me any extra questions if you get confused!! NIACINAMIDE explained! $6 serums worth trying!
NIACINAMIDE explained! $6 serums worth trying!
Try these $6 serums to reap the many benefits of niacinamide! Hey everyone! I’m sure you’ve heard and seen so much about 𝙉𝙄𝘼𝘾𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙈𝙄𝘿𝙀 lately. It seems like every new skincare product has it and the niacinamide serums are selling like crazy. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞? Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3. It’s the latest trend in skincare, but has been used in skincare for a very long time. It has many benefits from helping acne, repairing skin, smoothing fine lines.. the list goes on. You can find it as it’s own serum or as a main ingredient along with other powerhouse ingredients. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 locks in moisture; helps build a lipid barrier. prevents environmental damage + protects from environmental stressors and pollution. minimizes pores reduces inflammation; helps redness w/ acne and eczema. regulates oil production. rebuilds skin cells protects against sun damage & skin cancer. ( you still need SPF) helps hyperpigmentation (not to a vitamin c extent, but can help lighten spots a bit) minimizes fine lines and wrinkles *yes plz* helps acne! Overtime a decrease in breakouts. 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣 2 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣: I have incorporated Niacinamide into my skincare routine for the last 3 months and I have noticed + a decrease in breakouts. + less oily skin + huge change in my pores, way less visible around my nose and cheeks. + less eczema than usual for this time of the year for me. 𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙩? For the most part, yes... Some people do have a sensitivity to niacinamide and can break out from it. If you start to break out different than your normal while using it, I suggest taking it out of your routine to see if it is not a match for your skin. 𝘼𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙧𝙮: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Since I’ve switched to this “holy grail” my skin has drastically improved. It also includes Zinc which helps with acne as well. $5.90 a price that is TOO good. Sold at Ulta and Sephora. GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum Another great serum! I’ve used this one before and it works almost just as well as the ordinary. It is also %10 niacinamide. The brand also has an amazing niacinamide toner! $6 online at good molecules. Both of these serums are 10% niacinamide. Studies have shown that 2-5% works very effectively so you don’t need such a high percentage. #cheriepartner #cheriecreator
