Dark circles got you down? We think you’re adorable just the way you are, but it’s understandable to want to present your brightest, perkiest face to the world. 
Let's dive into the dark side. What causes under-eye circles, and how can we make them go away?
Under Eye-Circles: Why, God why?
Don't despair, you're only human! Dark circles are just the blood vessels that exist under your eyes so you can, you know, live. We all have them, they're just more visible on some than others.
There are a lot of reasons you might have some sleepy looking peepers, including:
1. Lack of Sleep
While the co-worker who asked if you were tired today may be rude, they aren't completely off base. When you lose out on sleep your skin can become pale, making it easier for your blood vessels to show through.
2. Family Tree
Genetics play a huge role in whether or not you get dark circles under your eyes. Chances are, if your family has them- you'll have them too. Those with more melanin in their skin may see hyperpigmentation in their eye area, causing the appearance of dark circles. 
Some pre-existing conditions can also cause dark under-eye circles, like thyroid disease or even seasonal allergies.
3. Age
As we get older, our skin loses some of its natural collagen supplies, causing it to be a little less plump and springy. This can cause the skin to appear thinner, which exposes those pesky blood vessels underneath.
In short, if you have dark circles, you are not alone. But that doesn't mean we can't diminish them, cover them, or even get rid of them! 
Can I get rid of my Dark Circles?
You may not be able to make them go away completely, but there are ways to brighten up your eye area.
1. Natural Remedies
To have radiant skin all over you'll want to get lots of sleep, drink your water, and exercise regularly. These changes in your lifestyle will keep your blood pumping effectively through your veins- preventing dull and sallow skin.
Maybe you don't have time to overhaul your lifestyle. Maybe you need that natural luminosity right here and now. Here are a few tips to take you from dark and dull to camera-ready:
2. Reduce Puffiness
Puffiness and under-eye circles often go hand in hand, so treat yourself to a little relaxation with cool cucumber slices, a cold compress, or damp green tea bags on your eyes. Cold brings down swelling while caffeine gives your skin a boost of blood circulation.
3. Invest in Eye Masks
There are a lot of brilliant eye masks on the market, usually infused with humectants to deliver gorgeous hydration where you need it most. Look for a formula with caffeine and keep them in the fridge for the at-home spa treatment of your dreams!
4. Massage your Face
Once you've given your skin a little r&r, wake it up with a rubdown. Grab your favorite moisturizer and massage it into your skin in circular motions. This will wake up all your happy little skin cells and cause some rejuvenating blood flow.
5. Correct and Conceal
Of course, the most effective and immediate way to reduce dark under-eye circles is to cover them up! But this should be done carefully. Piling on the concealer can cause creping, which is never a good look. 
Follow these instructions to rid yourself of those dark circles for good! (or until you wash your make-up off):
Prime- Grab your favorite hydrating primer and apply it to clean, dry skin before adding any cosmetics. This will prevent your makeup from sinking into fine lines, making you look older than you are.
Color Correct- Color correcting has been part of makeup artistry for years, but has become more mainstream recently. You should be able to find color-correcting concealers, creams, primers, and potions from many brands at every price point. 
The science of color correcting lies in the color wheel. If you have blue or purple-ish under-eye circles, grab an orange or peach shade to neutralize those cool tones. If your circles are dark and almost black in color, you can upgrade to a red-toned corrector. 
Apply a light coat of color corrector in the area you wish to conceal, then blend it at the edges so it fades naturally. Use a blender or brush to be sure the color is appropriately blended into your skin. Don't use too much- or it may peep through your concealer.
Concealer- For a full coverage look, start with a foundation, going lighter on the areas you are going to conceal later. For everyday looks, you can simply cover the color-corrected area with a concealer and blend. 
Set- use a light amount of setting spray or powder to keep everything in place and voila! You're glowing and ready to take on the world.
Remember...
Dark under-eye circles are natural, and they're nothing to be ashamed of. Just take the best care of your skin that you can, use concealer in a pinch, and never forget to shine bright like the diamond you are!
