Too Good to Be True? Testing Cherie's High Rated Drugstore MakeupCan makeup from the drugstore survive against my high standards?
Something I've learned in my many years as a makeup conesuir is that brand and price rarely matter; finding good makeup is all about trial and error. That's where Cherie comes in. Since I've been on the app, other users have taken the guesswork out of the equation. So when I see a highly rated product with tons of reviews, I can't help but want to try it out for myself. When it comes to drugstore makeup, I definitely tend to be skeptical because I know ingredients can be sketch and the price point just doesn't add up to such wonderful reviews. But, like I said, I can't help but try out affordable Cherie finds. Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palette-Rose in the Air ($5.99)Finding affordable, high quality eyesadow is probably the hardest thing to do if you're on a budget. So when I saw that this palette only cost $6 and had a 4.3 star rating on Cherie, I was intrigued to say the least. When I swatched the colors, I definitely became more nervous. On the arm, the product was chalky and not very pigmented. However, when I started to use it on the eyes, I was so impressed! These shadows blended like a dream and were very easy to layer, especially for the price point. The one downside is the fact that the glitter shades aren't all that impressive and have a lot of fallout on the face. Nonetheless, this palette is definitely worth the buy if you're looking for something nice and affordable.
wet n wildColor Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan PaletteNYX Micro Brow Pencil ($9.99)Anastasia who? This brow pencil is a PERFECT dupe for $23 Anastasia Brow Whiz. I have sworn by this product for years and am never disappointed. The makeup itself is perfectly soft, yet firm for flawless brow application. The spoolie on the other end is also perfectly crafted for brow shaping and blending. While I currently only use a brow mascara, I always return to this product when I'm looking for a more structured brow. Having earned itself a 4.3 star rating on Cherie, this is a drugstore classic and I cannot recommend it enough.Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara ($4.99) Good mascara is hard to find, so when I purchased this $5 drugstore product, I truly didn't have high hopes even with its 4.4 star rating on Cherie. Most of the mascara I have loved in the past have cost at least $20, but this mascara has defied all the odds and topped them all. THIS MASCARA IS SO GOOD! No product has ever surprised me more. When this mascara says "False Lash Effect," it means it! In terms of consistency, this is a very wet mascara so yo need to be careful about letting it set before you move on to the next step of your beauty routine. All in all, though, this mascara has my devotion from now on.NYX Vinyl Liquid Liner ($7.00)I have a lot of thoughts about liquid liner, mostly because I'm terrible at applying it. Admittedly, this liner was no exception, but I can't fault the product based on human error. The applicator was easy to hold and the brush was very thin which made for sharp, crisp application (if you have that talent.) Aside from my difficulty applying it, this liner was really good! While I think there's nothing exceptional about the liner, it was very pigmented and did its job well which definitely supports its 4.4 star rating on Cherie. Please note that it is not water-proof, so if that's what you're looking for, I'd opt for another product.

HALLOWEEN GHOST NAIL TUTORIAL👻💅🏽
I saw this look on Pinterest with black nails and i thought I would recreate with white nails. I have never done nail art before so this was a challenge for me but here is how I recreated the look: Products used: •beetles Gel Polish - Poly Gel Kit for Nail this kit I prefer because the gels work better and are not as sticky as the next polygel kit. •#Sexy mix - Polygel nail kit[products]#[FourStars] this kit comes with lots of materials to create pretty nails but the polygel is very sticky and sometimes does not harden completely •L.A. Girl - Color Pop Nail Polish this nail polish can be a little bit thick and sticky, so work in thin coats and layer more if necessary •NYC NEW YORK COLOR - Long Wearing Nail Enamel this nail polish is very thin but full coverage so it works well. It dries quickly which is nice •nail filer •small detailed nail brush •gel lamp To recreate the ghost design: •First I applied a thin layer of the polygel base coat to my nail and cured in a UV lamp for 90 seconds •Then I used the clear polygel, slip solution, a nail brush, and a correct-fitting nail form to create a fake nail. I would recommend choosing a form slightly bigger opposed to smaller because you can always file down the excess. Apply a small amount of polygel to the form. Dip the brush into the slip solution so its coated but not damp. Smooth out the polygel in the form so it reaches all of the edges. Make sure there are no bubbles in the gel. •Next, apply the nail form to your finger at a 45 degree angle. Slowly place the gel onto the nail. Do not push the form as it could create the gel to spill out. Cure the nail under the lamp for 90 seconds. •After the nail was cured, I popped the form off and filed my nail into an oval shape. I also filed down the nail so it was thin. This also creates a super shiny coat once the top coat is applied. •Next it was time for the design. I used a very small detailed nail brush I found off of Amazon and the two white and black polishes listed above. I first started off with the ghost’s body. Then I created his little arm. Next I used the black to create the ghosts face. I also created a thin french nail by applying a white line on the top of my nail. Let dry. •Lastly I applied I thin layer of polygel top coat and cured my nail for an additional 90 seconds. And…. there you have it, Halloween ghost nails. 🎶: Elixr by WYS & The Jazz Cafe #CheriePartner
💁🏻♀️My Go-To “Extra” Makeup Look 💁🏻♀️
Alright so a lot of people may have an everyday makeup look, but do you have an everyday EXTRA makeup look??? Well, here’s mine… It’s the perfect mix between glamorous and natural which I loveeee. I also think it’s a pretty achievable look and there aren’t too many crazy techniques you need to use in order to get it either. So I’ll start with the eyes, it’s just the foxy smokey look that’s been trending all over social media. I use tons of neutral and brown colors to achieve a more natural and smokey effect. The important thing is to build up the dark browns and black eyeshadow. For the fox eye effect, I like to use a piece of tape to get it really sharp. The trick is to always start with the lighter colors and blend up to the black. Also, line your waterline and inner corner with a black pencil to make it look even smokier. Next up, we got the lips. It’s the staple red lipstick but with a dark twist. I personally don’t think bright red lipstick complements my skin tone so I love adding a bit of brown. I use NYX soft matte lip creams to achieve this and the main lippie colors are “Madrid” and “Berlin”. You can add a lip gloss if you prefer, honestly, any clear gloss works. I like using Too Faced Lip Injection Plumping Lip Gloss for that pounty look hehe Last but not least, the freckles!!! This is a small element that ties everything together. It’s what makes it look a lot more natural and effortless. Don’t forget to also use some blush to make your freckles look more realistic, but my method for drawing freckles is with brown eyeshadow powder on a brush. And that’s pretty much all to it! Looks kinda complicated but actually pretty simple and great for any occasions you want to look a bit more extra for!! #CheriePartner
A Satisfying Texture | Foundation for Dry Skin❤️
Look at this awesome close up of the AMOREPACIFIC - Color Control Cushion Compact Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 50 😍 I have this thing called Trypophobia (fear of small holes) but for some reason this close up just fascinates me. You can really see the luminescence of the foundation within the sponge! For those of you who aren’t familiar with CC formulas/cushion foundation, they are typically a smoother, more liquid-like formula than your average foundation that is made to even out skintone. Most true CC formulations focus more on skincare elements and a wee bit less on color/color ranges, especially those from Korean brands. Western brands definite amp up the diversity of their skintone range, as well as overall pigmentation in their formulas. This means you’ll find more full-coverage CC cream/foundation from “western” brands like IT Cosmetic’s it Cosmetics - it Cosmetics CC+ Cream SPF 50+ . (Not my favorite for dry skin. I felt like the Sahara Desert all over again when I used their formula 🙄) Therefore, it might be difficult to find a shade that fits you if you have a deeper skintone. Side note: I consider IT cosmetics to be a western brand because upon a bit of research, the company was bought by L’Oréal and the products are mostly manufactured in China. I love this foundation for super dry skin because of how moisturizing it is. It’s awesome for creating that second-skin finish with a natural, dewy glow. If you have light-medium with slight neutral-gold undertones and struggle with a bit of texture, this foundation line could work well for you! Every time I try something new or I’m stuck in a rut, I always go back to this foundation. I love the ease of use and blendability. The size is great for travel and I find that it doesn’t bother my dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. You can get a medium to slightly buildable full coverage without “erasing” the dimension/shadows in your face. Even though it has SPF it doesn’t wash my face out completely and doesn’t create a white cast. If there is any, it’s only slightly noticeable. You would have to look reeeaaally close to see it. Layering on powder/cream products are a breeze. I found the best way to use this product is with a slightly damp beauty blender. Start by placing a little bit onto the skin and then proceed to layer more as needed. There is something to be mindful of when you are using this product. If you live in a more humid/moist climate, I would add a little powder after your face primer and then proceed to add this foundation to help keep this in place throughout the day. You could also carry a powder puff with you throughout the day for touch-ups. Because the foundation has high moisture and provides a dewy finish, it can impact the longevity if you live in an moist/humid area 😊 Yay to a healthy glow! ❤️😄
