Having a Hard Time Getting Ready in the Morning? These 5-Minute Beauty Tips Can Help!Quick and easy beauty is the key to WFH.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm terrible at getting ready when I have nowhere to go. I've read (and written) blog posts about tips for working from home and the number one suggestion is ALWAYS to get ready in the morning just like you would on any other work day. Do I do that? No. Do I want to do that? YES! I think there is SO MUCH to be gained by looking and feeling your best, even when no one will see you in person. That being said, I've compiled some tips (and product suggestions) to help aid us all in the quick no-makeup makeup ways of working from home.Feeling Fresh Starts with SkincareStarting your day with a washed face makes ALL the difference when you're rushing to get ready in the morning. Wash, tone, and moisturize first thing in the morning, no matter what! BONUS: A tinted moisturizer can help keep your skin supple while doubling as a foundation replacement! For deep, long-lasting moisture, I use Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Water Gel Face Moisturizer.
NeutrogenaHydro Boost Gel-CreamMultitask Your GlossWho says gloss has to stay on your lips? Dabbing some gloss where you usually apply highlighter (your cheekbones, brow bones, etc.) can make it look like you spent a lot more time on your makeup than you actually did. BONUS: While clear glosses may seem like the go-to for this tip, a rosy pink looks great on the cheeks and helps you look awake and alive! For an all-around gloss, I like FENTY's Gloss Bomb in Glass Slipper.

When it comes to quick and easy makeup, focussing the eyes can take you from just-rolled-out-of-bed to awake-and-ready-for-hours in just a matter of minutes! BONUS: Eyeliner isn't your thing? Skip it! Prefer to only wear mascara? Go for it! It's really all about doing what's going to make you feel your best. Don't feel required to do things my way <3 For swift eyeshadow application, I love Glossier's Skywash. Simply apply and bend with your finger!
Glossier.SkywashConsider a Concealer CocktailHad a late night binge on Netflix in and paying for it with dark circles? Use two concealers under your eyes for maximum coverage and brightness! Start by color correcting with a peach toned concealer and go over once more with your normal concealer. BONUS: Color-correcting isn't just for dark circles! This technique can work wonders for different skin problems! Research the best colors for your skin tone and find the perfect combo for a flawless complexion! For color-correcting of all kinds, I like the NYX Professional Makeup Color Correcting Palette.Perfect a Messy BunWhen you're running low on time, a messy bun is a go to that every long-haired lady should master! Take a bit of time and find your favorite YouTube tutorial and tie, twist, and pin until you've got it down! BONUS: Messy buns aren't your thing? That's okay! Find a quick hair tutorial on YouTube and get to styling! Using a good dry shampoo can add texture and volume to any hairstyle without using damaging techniques like teasing! For a voluminous, light bun, I like Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo.Blush Up on Popular Cheek Color TechniquesFeeling like your skin is lackluster and dull in the morning? Applying a quick flush of color to your face gives you an hours-awake, bright-eyed look — even over video chat. BONUS: Blush isn't just for cheeks! You can apply blush to the tip or bridge of your nose, eyelids, and chin as well for a rosy, glowy look. For a rosy touch, I like the Milani Rose Powder Blush in Coral Cove.

BYE BYE STATIC👋
Frizz and fly-aways happen to the best of us. No matter how often we moisturize our hair during the winter, escaping static electricity seems impossible. To better understand how to tame your hair static, you need to know a little bit more about what causes it. So, What Causes Hair Static? Static electricity is created when two objects rub against each other. This swap causes a kind of electric charge to build up on your hair. If there is humidity in the air, the charge can usually just go away on its own.🙏🏼 There’s many ways one can get rid of fly-aways and hair static…You can use hair oils, leave-in conditioners, there’s even some anti-frizz, anti-static hair products you can use. However, I have found a way that works best for me. I got this idea from celebrity hair stylist, Jen Atkin (founder and owner of OUAI). She says that one of the best ways to get rid of fly-aways and hair static is by using a blush brush and hairspray. I have very thick, curly and frizzy hair naturally. My fly-aways and static appear on either side of my parting and they normally appear straight after I wash and straighten my hair. All I want is a sleek smooth look, but these fly-aways always get in the way.🙄 #Sorbet - Flexible and Shine Hairspray[products]#[FiveStars] I use the Flexible and Shine Hairspray from Sorbet. I love this product because it keeps everything in place but doesn’t harden your hair (that’s the worst). I spray this hairspray onto a plain old (no name brand) blush brush, and slowly stroke down the strands of hairs that are static. This really does work like a bomb. You do have to go over the strands a couple of times until all of them are sleek and smoothed down. There’s my little trick of the day. Try it out and let me know if this hack works for you! Paula x
COLLAGEN— THE SECRET TO WRINKLE-FREE SKIN?!
I’ve always heard/been told that once you hit 25 you need to start incorporating collagen into your daily routine. Our bodies natural collagen production begins to decline and adding it or collage- boosting products can help to keep plump, wrinkle-free skin. I am under 25 but that doesn’t mean that I can't still benefit from collagen products. Collagen What is it: Collagen is a protein found in your body that provides it’s structure including the skin, hair and nails. Collagen decline: Many factors decline collagen production including: •age (typically after 25) •sugar/refined carbs •excess sun exposure •smoking How to boost collagen production: Fortunately there are many ways to boost collagen production. Including foods, supplements, and skin care. This can either be incorporated directly from the source (collagen) or by the collagen-boosting foods. Collagen foods: •bone broth •egg whites •fish •lean meat •spirulina Collagen-boosting foods: •vitamin C; such as citrus fruits, broccoli •zinc; such as certain cereals, breads •manganese; such as leafy green vegetables and teas •copper; such as nuts and shellfish Supplemnets: Supplements are an easy way to incorporate collagen into the body. They can be incorporated into foods or drinks making it practical for everyday use. Some forms of supplements include: •gelatin •collagen pills •collagen peptide/protein powders •marine collagen Skincare: If you are using a skincare product this claims to have pure collagen in it, it may not be as beneficial as you’d like it to be. That is because collagen in it’s pure form may be to hard to penetrate through the skin and will leave you with no benefits. When choosing skincare products for collagen, its best to chose products that claim to boost collagen production. These products will contain ingredients mentioned above such as vitamin-c and even retinols. A product that I use that boosts collagen production with the help of active marine plant extracts is: ELEMIS - Pro-Collagen Marine Cream — $128 Key Ingredients: •Padina Pavonica: A unique Mediterranean algae with proven outstanding anti-aging benefits (aids in the production of collagen) •Mimosa: An anti-inflammatory, toning and astringent. It has a pleasing, delicate aroma •Rose: A natural fragrance component with nurturing and calming properties -Ulta.com What is it: Hydrating, wrinkle cream that helps firm the skin. How I use: This cream is intended for day use but I find it way to thick to use during the day. I like to use this cream at night as a moisturizer to seal in all of my other creams and serums. I apply all over my face and neck. Results/Recommendations: Like previously stated, this cream is very thick. I’m prefer lightweight creams over thicker ones. This cream is not irritating and did not cause any side affects for my sensitive skin. However I did not see any dramatic differences for the amount of money the product cost. I feel as if other products work better but I do like that it aids in collagen production. I personally would not repurchase. If you are worried about wrinkles or are interested in living a healthier lifestyle, I would recommend for you to think about incorporating ways to boost your collagen production. This can either be through quitting bad habits such as smoking, making better food choices, or incorporating collagen supplements/skincare into your daily routine. Lastly, if you are a vegetarian, etc. it is good to know that there are plenty of plant-based options available. #CheriePartner
My hydration boosters
Emergency beauty treatments ✅ Hydrating ✅ Nourishing ✅ Soothing ✅ Replenishing These masks rescue our fatigued and sensitised skin by stress and external stressors LANEIGE - Water Sleeping Mask light weight 💦- it’s GLORIOUS ( I use this under my make up as moisturiser during winter months). It spreads and absorbs beautifully on skin lovely smell (‼️ fragrance in skincare can be irritating to some of you sweeties should you have eczema or history of allergic reactions to perfumes/deodorants) 💡 I use this mask twice every week as the last step after moisturiser during winter. In a warm weather, I apply this once weekly as mask or sometimes as my primary moisturiser. I refrigerate it as well - upon application, it bursts into a refreshing surge of cooling soothing hydration Kiehl's - Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask heavier and slightly sticky texture, compared to the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, but still lightweight. It has a translucent yellowish gel like consistency delicate fresh herbal smell 💡I use this mask not as often I do Laneige, mostly after exfoliating or waxing my skin, or when my skin just feels blahhh 🙄 and dull. I keep this lovely sweetie in the fridge as well. Quick and Easy Halloween Hair Tutorial 🐭
I love Halloween! I love the decorations and the candy of course, but I don't love taking hours to get ready! Every year my costume is quick, easy and made using things I already have lying around. This year is now different, I'm going as a cute mouse and only needed 1 product for this hair look, the scünci - No Damage Elastics Brown ! I have super curly, shoulder length hair and did this style on second day hair. The only product that is in it is the CURLSMITH - Curl Defining Styling Souffle . It has strong hold and gives great definition. I applied on soaking wet hair and let my hair air dry. It's been slept on and gone through an intense workout, I didn't break the cast in order to wear it as long as possible! These mouse ears are super easy to do and will work for all hair types! You could also play around with the shape of the buns are create bunny or cat ears! For a classic mouse look go for a higher bun and add some volume to them! Here's how I did the mouse ears: 1. Section the hair in half with a middle part. 2. Using a hair tie create a pig tail on one side, you can choose the placement but because my hair is shorter I went with a side placement. 3. Add a matching pig tail to the other side! 4. Using your third hair tie create a fun bun! Since my hair is curly I didn't need to pull out any pieces but I love the messy look! 5. Do the same to the other side. 6. You can stop here and your done! OR add some fun accessories like sparkly clips and bobby pins! Have a safe and fun Halloween! I'll be posting a makeup tutorial for this look soon! 🐭❤️ #CheriePartner
Skincare Snacks: Almonds & Kale 🥬
Time for another installment of SKINCARE SNACKS: A little series where I talk about different foods we can incorporate into snacks & meals that benefit our skin✨ Swipe through for a quick run down on the skincare benefits. 🌸ALMONDS: Almonds trees were one of the earliest domesticated fruit trees. Native to Iran, the oil of the Sweet Almond is used topically for both skin & hair due to its moisturizing & hypoallergenic properties. Almonds are used nutritionally as well for their energizing protein, fiber & healthy fats like Omega 3 & 6. In addition to these essential fatty acids, almonds are a great source of Vitamin E & Polyphenols. ⭐️Eating raw Almonds is best to get all the health benefits. Roasted nuts, on the other hand, may contain fewer Antioxidants & Vitamins, & some of their healthy fats may also become damaged. ✨A recent study conducted at UC Davis found that wrinkle width decreased by 10% while wrinkle severity reduced by 9% after a 16 week trial of post-menopausal women who ate approx 60g of Almonds, compared to the controlled group who ate a nut-free snack of equal caloric value, with no significant changes in skin barrier function between groups. Check the slides for more info. 🥬KALE: Topically, Kale extract increases cell turnover, prevents free radical damage & detoxifies the skin. Its rich in Vitamins A, B, C & K content, as well as Antioxidants & Phytonutrients. It promotes collagen production, & could also help reduce dark circles. Kale is also rich in protein, high in fiber & Vitamin B6, & has minerals like Potassium, Manganese, Calcium, Copper & Magnesium. 🥗 I added a lil salad recipe if you’re looking for a way to get started with Kale 🍽🥬 ⚠️Kale is also lists highly in the US for being contaminated with pesticides, so definitely wash it thoroughly!💦💚 ⚠️If you have an underactive Thyroid, it might not be a good idea not to consume too much Kale. It contains a compound called Progoitrin, which if consumed in very high amounts, can interfere with Thyroid hormone synthesis & essentially block the Iodine your Thyroid needs to function, which can result in fluctuating blood sugar levels.
