If you're like me, holed up at home practicing social distancing, it might feel like spring is NOT on its way and that these cold rainy days will last forever... but thankfully, Mother Nature has a schedule to keep! In anticipation for warmer days, a brighter sun, and stepping out into the world again, I've rounded up some spring shades that are so fun and easy to wear for any occasion. Now, I'm no stranger to eye shadow, but I am most definitely no expert. I missed that window years ago when my indecisive nature (hello, Libra rising) couldn't choose which colors to use and in what order. So for these spring looks, I opted for simple application methods; my handy dandy ring finger. And a liner brush here and there 😜BABY BLUE HUES

The first perfect spring shadow takes a cue from clear blue skies. I never really thought about putting baby blue shadow on my tan skin, something about it seemed like a wrong match in my head, but after picking up Glossier's new Skywash in Pool, I was gladly proven wrong. This may be the spring of baby blue shadow for me 🧐LILAC'S IN FULL BLOOM
campaign, cherie
Spring is known for new beginnings, and that symbolism is solidified by all the beautiful flowers that bloom under spring's sun. Lilac shadow is an amazing color for spring because it feels equal parts romantic and playful —who wouldn't want this vibe? Here I used Colourpop's Super Shock Shadow in REM, a gorgeous opalescent lilac, which was a Christmas 2019 limited edition color. Don't fret, there are plenty of lilac alternatives!GREENER GRASSES

Inspired by the growing grass and leaves of spring, two tones of green is as spring as it gets. Using Huda Beauty's Emerald Obsessions Palette, I swiped a pretty pastel green on my lids and lined by bottom lashes with a deeper emerald color. A NEW EARTH

A bit of grounding is what terracotta shadows will do for your look. I've always loved terra cotta shadows, but Glossier's Skywash in Burnt Sienna takes the cake! BTW, Skywash applies and blends like a dream. It's also buildable—my look here is about three layers deep. If you're afraid terracotta shadows might make it look like you have discolored eyelids (as was my fear), fret not! It's all about how much you put on, the trick being making the shadow opaque enough to stand out.

💜DIY LAVENDER OIL 💜
💜DIY LAVENDER OIL 💜
Lavender is one of my favorite flowers and essential oils to use! 😘 The oil has so my amazing properties and has been used for over 2500 years for things like the beauty world or cooking! 🌟BENEFITS FOR SKIN: 🌟 helps acne and dermatitis ✔️ helps prevent aging ✔️ helps treat dandruff and boosts hair growth ✔️ reduces stress✔️ I use lavender oil 2x a day every day on my face to treat my perioral dermatitis. 🙍🏼‍♀️ I realized go through the store-bought droppers fast! And I thought maybe I can make my own! 💁🏼‍♀️ 🟣TIME TO DIY🟣 what you need 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 sun 🌞 dried lavender buds (will make a better oil yield if they are sun dried) glass jar with lid fractionated coconut oil🥥 1. Remove extra stems from lavender. 2. Combine lavender buds and fractionated coconut oil in jar. 3. Shake together. 4. Wait 7-10 days and strain using cheese cloth. 5. Keep in sealed glass jar. 💟 Now you never have to buy lavender oils again! {why fractionated coconut oil and not refined coconut oil??} 🥥 Fractionated coconut oil absorbs better into the skin and is less likely to cause breakouts! It also stays in a liquid form even at low temps! How I Treated My Hormonal Acne
How I Treated My Hormonal Acne
I struggled with hormonal pustule acne for a long time, as well as pustules and whiteheads from oil overproduction. It was moderate to severe, covering my left and right cheeks. Three specific products helped to reduce my breakouts in frequency, coverage, redness, and the level of pain associated with the inflammation. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster is amazing. Just 4% Niacinamide has been shown by a couple studies to be as effective at reducing moderate acne as clindamycin- a topical antibiotic! I can attest to its acne fighting prowess, as I saw distinct reduction in not only the amount of acne I had, but also how intense it was- it was less painful and not nearly as red a few hours after application. Niacinamide normalizes pore lining and controls oil production so I saw immense improvement in whiteheads and pustules when using twice daily. But this prevented my oil-caused acne more than my hormonal acne, though it eased both. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum was the first product I used that gave me relief. I hadn’t known it, but my oil overproduction was largely in part from dehydrated skin. Since I used no moisturizer or serum, my skin produced extra oil after I cleansed. Incorporating B-Hydra replenished my skin with water, glycerin, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate (a form of HA), and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer. I saw quick reduction in the number of whiteheads I developed! Using it before applying an exfoliant helps prevent dryness associated with peels. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster should be in nearly ever acne arsenal. It is antimicrobial and anti inflammatory to help fight acne, plus it lightens dark spots dramatically in my experience. Applying this in the AM shrinks pustules by nighttime and makes the area around the blemish much less red. I find this gives the quickest acne-minimizing results of all the products I’ve used. When treating acne, always make sure to eliminate possible irritants such as fragrance and essential oils, as well as drying alcohol. Acne can be a sign of inflammation and using gentle products can ease the pain associated with (as well as the prevalence of) acne tremendously. As well, I always recommend salicylic acid for treating acne, but I wanted to highlight these specific products because they’re not mentioned as often and they played a huge role in my acne journey.

Well this was recorded before I gave my final verdict on May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon, so at this time it was still on my trial period; I have a full dedicated review to it, if you want more info please read it🙏🏼😌 Let’s start reviewing: #Arcona - Night Worker [PM][products]#[FourStars] I just wish it was a true serum. Other than that it smells nice, like peaches or apricot; it’s mostly clean and has really good sourced ingredients; made in the USA; it’s a smaller company and they produce products freshly. The consistency is like a cream so if you have dry skin/normal or combo/dry, this will work greatly for you as it doesn’t irritate at all. Also the Vitamin C is stable as the container is completely opaque and has a pump which is also great. Definitely see some brightening action and smoothing of the fine lines in my forehead. SkinMedica - Retinol Complex 1.0 It is really gentle for being a 1%, I assume it’s due to it being encapsulated retinol, which means it gets released slowly and not all at once. Definitely no irritation even when I use my DE glycolic serum/gel and followed it with this. I just wished, again, that the consistency was more thin. Other than that great formula and packaging keeps everything stable as well. facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10 I feel like it has definitely help with my acne, as I started breaking out due to hormonal imbalances and this helped greatly. I do however like the Good molecules Niacinamide as it’s cheaper and has zero stickiness to it and absorbs quicker. I am mixing this with my Chanel Le Blanc lotion and that helps this product sink in way faster as well as to not have that sticky feeling. #Facetheory - Regena C20 serum[products]#[FiveStars] I have to further keep using it, but right now it has given me zero irritation, has great ingredients and other brighteners besides vit C and sinks right in. may lindstrom skin - The Blue Cocoon Please read my review on this. BURT’S BEES - Rosewater Toner Love it, great for texture! Wish it had less alcohol. Chanel Le Blanc Lotion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As usual, 5 stars, I have reviewed it multiple times and just can’t get over what a great product it is. Aesop - Gentle Facial Cleansing Milk It’s okay. Nothing exorbitant. I would say it’s good if you have really dry skin or for the winter months. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Smoothing Gel Exfoliator 150ml Smells great, leaves my skin soft as a baby’s behind, really small exfoliating beads, none irritating, good price, lasts a long time and doubles as cleanser after taking your makeup off, of course. GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask For now I give it 4 stars as I need to use it for a longer period of time. Good thing’s about it: doesn’t irritate or make my eyes water, hydrates and smoothens. Wish it wasn’t in a jar.
MY FACE MAKEUP ROUTINE for when I’m breaking out
MY FACE MAKEUP ROUTINE for when I’m breaking out
For numerous reasons, I have been stressed lately which really shows on my skin. I already get the occasional breakout, around the time of the month, and sometimes from diet and eating food that probably isn’t GREAT for me. So with additional stress I eat more, crave more crappy food, maybe pick at my skin, etc. I also wear a face mask whenever I go out and with the heat and humidity of where I live, it just becomes a skin nightmare. I just made another post about how I’ve changed up my skincare routine. Here is my makeup routine for covering it up. Add warmth and color back into the face. COLOURPOP - Super Shock Blush in Count Me In NUDESTIX - Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow in Terracotta Tan I find that when I’m breaking out, my face can tend to look flat and pale. By adding some warmth and color back into the face, you look healthier and more radiant which will help a lot at disguising breakouts. The colourpop blush is a beautiful mousse-y texture that gives sheer color with a satin-finish. The cream bronzer is my holy grail! It’s super creamy, long-lasting and looks just. like. skin. Spot-conceal. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Full Cover Concealer Wearing a full-coverage long-wear foundation just isn’t the way to go for me. It ends up looking cakey and accentuating texture instead of disguising it. As the individual breakouts are the only areas I really want to cover, I don’t want to cover the areas of my skin that are actually smooth and break-out free! This concealer is super high coverage, a little goes a long way and very long lasting. I will sometimes use a pinpoint eyeliner brush or even just my ring finger to pat the product exactly where I need it! This TRULY gives the illusion of smoother, clearer skin. Lock it in. rms beauty - Un" Powder I love this powder because of its super fine and silky texture. It makes my skin look 100% poreless which is perfect for smoothing out texture on my skin! It also keeps my T-zone area shine-free all day without drying out my skin (as many mattifying powders do to me).
My acne fighting duo for under $20
My acne fighting duo for under $20
Some acne honesty: Although these worked really well for me, they might not work for everyone. Your skin is unique and might react better to different products. It can be a really frustrating process, I totally get it! What worked for me was finding someone online who had a similar skin type and similar story when it came to acne. Just always remember to take it easy on yourself. Acne is normal and it doesn’t make you any less beautiful. My current skin situation: I currently have combination, acne prone skin. I had very clear skin for most of my life until I went off birth control over a year ago now. I tried almost everything to try and get rid of my acne, but it took months to find a solution. It was just earlier this year that I finally found a couple products that helped keep acne at bay! I barely gets zits anymore (bless) but when I do, it can be very discouraging. My skin scars very very easily and it takes at least a month to get rid of the scars left over from the acne. SO anytime I see a zit pop up, I reach for these two products which help me 1) get rid of that zit quickly and 2) minimize the potential for future acne scars. How I use these together: Benzagel - Acne Gel 5% (face wash version) I usually use this just at night time because I just do a water cleanse in the morning. But when I get a pimple, during the morning I’ll cover the zit with the face wash for about a minute then wash that off. Then I’ll proceed with the rest of my routine, but I’ll avoid using any vitamin c / spf on the pimple. And then this where I’ll add the.... COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch When I have a zit I will wear one of these during the day and a new one at night. It’s a grossly satisfying product because once you take them off, you can see the amount of oils that it has pulled from the skin / zit (you’ll see a white blob on the patch). The effects: After just 24 hours, the zit will almost fully disappear when I use the two of these together. The spot will be so much smaller than it is when I let the acne heal itself and the scarring is minimal, if noticeable at all. Which is amazing considering my normal pimples almost always scar (even if I DONT pop them). The best part: You can get both of these products for less than $10 CAD!
