We Kept Getting These Beauty Brands As Instagram Ads, So We Tried ThemWe admit, the marketing got to us. But, we're happy to report that these brands are worthy of a spend.
Cherie is an online community of beauty lovers sharing their stories, whether that's their favorite products, makeup tutorials, or skincare routines. Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you! You know how when you talk about something, it shows up as an ad on your Instagram feed? Well here at Cherie, we're always talking about beauty; from how to treat our skin concerns, to the next hottest product, to makeup trends we've got to try. To no ones surprise, our team's IG feeds are full of unsolicited (but surely welcome) ads for various beauty brands claiming to remedy whatever concern we were just speaking of. We decided to give these brands a chance and see if they actually work! Plus, we're always game for finding the next best beauty products.Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions MascaraWe started getting this ad when we were talking about mascaras that work well for short lashes. Lo and behold, Thrive Causemetics showed up! If you haven't heard of this brand, it's the latest buzz in clean beauty. This mascara in particular has some of pretty amazing claims: it extends lashes with buildable fibers while orchid stem cells encourage lash growth—basically, it lengthens your lashes whether you have it on and off.
thrive causemeticsLiquid Lash Extensions Mascara™The Verdict: Sherry tried this mascara and has thin, straight lashes with a medium length. ✅Great for length 🚫Gives no volume ✅Dries quickly 🚫Gets clumpy ✅Holds a curl 🚫Not waterproof ✅Stays put ✅Comes off easily with a little warm water ✅Overall, use if you like length and long-lasting formulas 🚫Didn't visibly promote lash growthUZ Lip TreatmentSo, this ad popped up on my (Ann's) feed so many times. I don't know if they knew I had the driest lips ever, but I was sold once I heard that this lip treatment would teach my lips how to moisturize themselves (!!!!). According to the website, this lip treatment is Japan's #1 lip treatment and uses patented technology, called Multi Flora, that bonds to the skin's microbes and amplifies their power, helping your lips moisturize themselves. The Verdict: I tried this lip treatment on my dry, flakey lips. ✅Super moisturizing ✅Looks great ✅High shine ✅Light color ✅Healthier lips after 4 days 🚫Didn't teach lips to moisturize themselves; works well as long it's being used 🚫Lips are dry again once I stopped usingAlleyoop Pen Pal This oh-so-cute brand has been on our radar for some time! They specialize in on-the-go, hardworking beauty products that save your time, and space. Amber tried the Pen Pal which is a 4-in-1 makeup pen featuring retractable pencils in brown, black, dusty pink, and opalescent white. According to Alleyoop, it looks good on every skin type, and works just as well.
alleyoopPen PalThe Verdict:🚫OK application; 6/10 🚫Lip color didn't match with Amber's skin tone 🚫Highlighter needs a lot of blending out ✅Eybrow pencil (brown) is a good match ✅Very natural looking ✅Good for on-the-go, if you're in a rush and have no other optionGleamin' Vitamin C Clay Mask Another very popular beauty trend on Instgram are skincare products that help with hyperpigmentation. There seem to be no shortage of dark-spot-fighting face masks! Gleamin' was no exception. With amazing reviews, Varshini gave this turmeric-based clay mask a try for 7 days to see if it would even her skin tone, fade dark spots, and improve texture.
Gleamin'Vitamin C Clay MaskThe Verdict: Varshini has a combination skin with acne scarring and texture.✅Incredibly smooth mask with a very bright color ✅A little goes a long way! ✅Leaves you a bit dry after (follow-up with a hydrating toner!) ✅Smells of fresh lemons ✅Easily washes off 🚫No visible difference to hyperpigmentation after one week 🚫No visible difference in skin texture after one week

MY ALWAYS CHOICE! GIRL’S MUST HAVE🤑
Among most drugstore products, MILANI is one of the highest cost performance products from my opinion. It only costs $6.99 for 9ml. I have run out of one for one and half years. It is very durable. When you squeeze them out, you can feel the texture is close to the foundation with the color nude. The color will become transparent after smearing. I like the tube design which has a small opening. It is easy to control the dosage. There are two suggestions here, first is! Avoiding spreading this product directly on your eyelids, if you have foundation on your eyelids. It is easy to result in a mess that your foundation mix with the eye primer. The best way is to squeeze a little bit on your hand. Then applying on your eyelids. Otherwise, do not use foundation on your eyelids, you can apply eye Primer directly on this way. This method is suitable to all Eye Primer products. Here is my make up order, foundation firstly, then using powder, eye primer, and eye shadow lastly. Actually, my eyelids aren't exactly oily skin, but sometimes I have to deepen the color of eye shadow in order to make my photo look better. So Eye Primer is kind of my must-have product. Using eye primer or not has a big difference on your eye make-up. Look the comparison I have posted. I had previously used Urban decay, ELF eye Primer. Among this three, my favorite is MILANI. It has the best price. The size is better than Urban decay and the texture is more moisturizing than ELF. Anyway， MALANI is perfect for oily skin and creasing skin! BUY IT! MILANI - Eyeshadow Primer

All in One Makeup Palette: Juvia’s Place Blush P
The appeal of a single makeup palette that be used for all of your makeup needs is universal. Whether you're a busy person who wants a quick, simple, and compact makeup solution for every day, or someone who really wants good value for money, a good all-in-one face palette can be your best partner in crime. The Saharan Blush Palette Volume II Juvia's Place is a great brand offering high-quality makeup products that cater to a very diverse range of skin tones. The Juvia's Place product line is inclusive and very reasonably priced. Juvia’s Place currently has two blush palette's availalble, The Saharan Blush Palette Volume I, which is most suitable for medium to dark skin tones, and Volume II, which is most suitable for light to medium dark skin tones. Each palette has six unique blush shades in a soft powder formula. The Saharan Blush Palette Volume II is a great multi-purpose powder palette for more than just your cheeks. In fact, I find it to be one of the best all-in-one face palettes I've ever owned, offering great pigment, soft texture, and long wear time. How to Use the Palette for Your Whole Face I use this palette everyday for makeup looks that are easy to create and still very effective at enhancing my best features. The russet brown shade, Yara, is very warm and highly pigmented. I use this shade on the perimeters of my face as a bronzer. For a simple, monochrome look that lifts the cheeks, I bring the bronze shade towards the apples of my cheeks, and use it all over my eyelids to define my eyes. This is the simplest and quickest look you can create with this palette. The palette sports three shades which I use for blush: Bee (a mauvey purple), Leena (a bright bubblegum pink), and Tau (a muted red). I use these shades as blush to add lift and colour to my face, and as matte eyeshadow shades. The two metallic shades in the palette are Zoba, a duachrome rosey gold colour, and Sola, a stunning metallic fuschia shade. The pink, purple, and red shades can be used in a similar way as above. When I want to create a brightly-coloured look in just a few minutes, I use the pink Leena shade as a transition/crease colour, then swipe metallic shades Zoba and Sola over the inner and outer portions of my lid, respectively. I put Zoba on my cheeks, too, as a highlighter. My advice for Zoba, though, is that it is more suited to light to medium complexions as a highlighter. On my very fair skin, it can be a bit dark. As an eyeshadow, though, it is gorgeous. Pro Tip: Match your lip colour to your eye makeup by some lip balm on your lips, and lightly tapping a blush shade over the top. The Ultimate All-in-One Face Palette I believe that The Saharan Blush Palette's are some of the best on the market, as far as value for money, pigment, and staying power are concerned. The palette's are perfect for beginners with makeup, people who want quick and easy makeup looks, or who are looking for one palette to answer all their wishes.
Liquid Lipsticks That Last Thru Dinner & Dessert
Liquid lipsticks were allllll the rage a couple years ago. Though that’s not the vibe of the beauty scene right now, liquid lipsticks are awesome to have in your collection for longevity purposes. Big date, heading into work, or wedding to go to and need something to last through sipping beverages and eating? Long-lasting liquid lipsticks are perfect for these! I have no shortage of liquid lipsticks in my collection, but these ones in particular are formulas I recommend. I pulled a few to swatch and “model” in staple colors that I wear often. SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in shades 13 “marvelous mauve” (mauve) and 01 “always red” (mini, true red) have been in my collection for several years. Don’t come for me - they don’t smell and the formula still works great! This collection has almost 100 shades, so there’s something for EVERYONE. I have owned other shades in the past and have 1 or 2 others still around. The mousse-y formula is lightweight, comfortable, and doesn’t dry out my lips too much. They do leave behind a bit of a stain when they fade, which I like. $15 full size. Some available in sets. MAYBELLINE - SuperStay Matte Ink Lip Color in the shade “seductress” is a consistent go-to shade for me. It’s a nude with hint of peach that goes with so many different makeup looks. This formula can be quite drying and difficult to remove, so I suggest applying a good lip balm and choosing a nude shade or else you’ll be scrubbing your lips all night trying to remove deeper shades (unless you don’t mind this). The lasting power is awesome (8+ hours)! Once my lips feel dry I apply a gloss on top and I’m good to go for even longer. These range for $9-11 depending where you purchase them. DOSE OF COLORS - DOSE OF COLORS Liquid Matte Lipstick in the shade “warm & fuzzy” is another go-to of mine. It’s a warm peachy/pinky nude. I have 2 or 3 other shades, as well. The formula is very thin (yet super opaque) and comfortable. Not quite as long-wearing as the other lippies in this post but still good (about 5 hours before some fading). DOC lippies are sometimes on sale at Ulta or on their website, so I recommend picking up a shade or two during a sale, though the quality is totally worth full price at $18 each. Note: Sephora Collection and Maybelline are not considered cruelty-free. I do only purchase from cruelty-free brands myself, but wanted to share these anyways. #CheriePartner
The best manicure I’ve ever given myself!
I have to be honest with you guys. I’m not SUPER into painting my nails. They either always come out super choppy/messy looking or chip away easily since I work part time in manual labor. However, this nail polish brand I found makes THE CUTEST nail polishes and they make super cute nails EASY! This look was created using the following nail polishes: HOLO TACO - Aurora Unicorn Skin HOLO TACO - One-Coat Black HOLO TACO - Super Glossy Taco OPI - Natural Nail Base Coat I’m usually not a huge fan of YouTuber brands but Holo Taco makes such unique nail polish formulas that help me save time (and subsequently money) with something that I would never pay a professional to do, but never felt comfortable doing myself. Here’s the step-by-step of how I created this look: PREP WORK: always wash your hands and remove any remaining nail polish before starting a new look. You can also use a nail polish remover just to remove any excess oils on your nails to make your polish last longer. BASE COAT: I used the OPI Natural Nails base coat. OPI - Natural Nail Base Coat I purchased this pretty recently (within the last month) since I work in manual labor and my nail polish chips (not to mention my nails BREAK) pretty often and I wanted to help offset that. This base coat works WONDERS and really does make my polish last longer. Pro tip: I always take the base coat along the tip of my nail and sometimes underneath it to stop tip chips. CREME BASE: What can I say? I love black nail polish...but so many black nail polishes I have owned in the past take SO MANY coats to make it fully opaque. I finally found a TRUE single-coat black nail polish HOLO TACO - One-Coat Black it’s insane. This is the first nail polish I purchased from this brand and it had me hooked immediately! So yes, I only used one coat of this polish before moving on. TOPPER: This topper polish has my heart. It’s a blue-pink-purple-everything-tinted iridescent flake topper. WHEW! I love using this topper on my nails by itself but on top of black it just takes the look to a whole new level! HOLO TACO - Aurora Unicorn Skin this is such a unique nail polish formula and it’s not chunky or strange feeling on the nail. However I would always recommend sealing it with a top coat just in case. I only used one coat of this. TOP COAT: This is the strongest top coat I have ever used: HOLO TACO - Super Glossy Taco and it really does completely flatten out any glitter, flakes, bumps, or ridges that occur on my nail. I love this stuff!! I only used one coat of this to complete the look. What do you guys think of the look?! #CheriePartner
