My Clean Beauty Journey Started At 8 Years Old

An allergic reaction to conventional beauty set me on course to only use clean products. Here's what I've learned.

A Journey Started By Unknown AllergiesMy mother is an esthetician, and growing up, she would take me around various beauty salons where a lot of the women working there would play dress-up with me. They loved doing my makeup and hair because, well, I was a cute kid! One day, at a hair salon, a few hairdressers had sprayed my hair down and I reacted to the product; I was covered in hives! I had then found out that "fragrance" was an ingredient I was allergic to, and since then I've been cautious about what goes on my skin. The Struggle Of Finding Clean BeautyBefore clean beauty became a trend (let's face it, it's everywhere these days), I had to read every single product label. I went through a lot of trial and error just trying things. I learned the hard way I was allergic to SLS and parabens when I tried products that had these ingredients and experienced skin reactions. After these trials, I was advised from my doctors and mother alike to just steer clear from things at stores, so I went straight to natural ingredients; homemade tee-tree based shampoos, homegrown products from local stores, and so on. Nothing was ever really clean and if the product was, it was also hard to find, but now, it's a lot easier for me. Cutting Through The Clean Beauty NoiseIt's so much better now finding clean beauty products that work well. This ease does come with a price though; there's a lot of fluff in the beauty world around clean beauty because it is such a hot commodity. The most fool-proof way to find truly clean ingredients is to simply read the labels and to know that less is more. You don't need a product with 70 ingredients to have beautiful skin! Start with things that come from mother earth and move from there. Of course, if you have more problematic skin, definitely go to your dermatologist for any extra advice. At the end of the day, education is the key. My Most-Loved Clean Beauty

NIACINAMIDE explained! $6 serums worth trying!
NIACINAMIDE explained! $6 serums worth trying!
Try these $6 serums to reap the many benefits of niacinamide! Hey everyone! I’m sure you’ve heard and seen so much about 𝙉𝙄𝘼𝘾𝙄𝙉𝘼𝙈𝙄𝘿𝙀 lately. It seems like every new skincare product has it and the niacinamide serums are selling like crazy. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐞? Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3. It’s the latest trend in skincare, but has been used in skincare for a very long time. It has many benefits from helping acne, repairing skin, smoothing fine lines.. the list goes on. You can find it as it’s own serum or as a main ingredient along with other powerhouse ingredients. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 locks in moisture; helps build a lipid barrier. prevents environmental damage + protects from environmental stressors and pollution. minimizes pores reduces inflammation; helps redness w/ acne and eczema. regulates oil production. rebuilds skin cells protects against sun damage & skin cancer. ( you still need SPF) helps hyperpigmentation (not to a vitamin c extent, but can help lighten spots a bit) minimizes fine lines and wrinkles *yes plz* helps acne! Overtime a decrease in breakouts. 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣 2 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙮 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙣: I have incorporated Niacinamide into my skincare routine for the last 3 months and I have noticed + a decrease in breakouts. + less oily skin + huge change in my pores, way less visible around my nose and cheeks. + less eczema than usual for this time of the year for me. 𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙩? For the most part, yes... Some people do have a sensitivity to niacinamide and can break out from it. If you start to break out different than your normal while using it, I suggest taking it out of your routine to see if it is not a match for your skin. 𝘼𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙧𝙮: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Since I’ve switched to this “holy grail” my skin has drastically improved. It also includes Zinc which helps with acne as well. $5.90 a price that is TOO good. Sold at Ulta and Sephora. GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum Another great serum! I’ve used this one before and it works almost just as well as the ordinary. It is also %10 niacinamide. The brand also has an amazing niacinamide toner! $6 online at good molecules. Both of these serums are 10% niacinamide. Studies have shown that 2-5% works very effectively so you don’t need such a high percentage. #cheriepartner #cheriecreator
💁🏻‍♀️My Go-To “Extra” Makeup Look 💁🏻‍♀️
💁🏻‍♀️My Go-To “Extra” Makeup Look 💁🏻‍♀️
Alright so a lot of people may have an everyday makeup look, but do you have an everyday EXTRA makeup look??? Well, here’s mine… It’s the perfect mix between glamorous and natural which I loveeee. I also think it’s a pretty achievable look and there aren’t too many crazy techniques you need to use in order to get it either. So I’ll start with the eyes, it’s just the foxy smokey look that’s been trending all over social media. I use tons of neutral and brown colors to achieve a more natural and smokey effect. The important thing is to build up the dark browns and black eyeshadow. For the fox eye effect, I like to use a piece of tape to get it really sharp. The trick is to always start with the lighter colors and blend up to the black. Also, line your waterline and inner corner with a black pencil to make it look even smokier. Next up, we got the lips. It’s the staple red lipstick but with a dark twist. I personally don’t think bright red lipstick complements my skin tone so I love adding a bit of brown. I use NYX soft matte lip creams to achieve this and the main lippie colors are “Madrid” and “Berlin”. You can add a lip gloss if you prefer, honestly, any clear gloss works. I like using Too Faced Lip Injection Plumping Lip Gloss for that pounty look hehe Last but not least, the freckles!!! This is a small element that ties everything together. It’s what makes it look a lot more natural and effortless. Don’t forget to also use some blush to make your freckles look more realistic, but my method for drawing freckles is with brown eyeshadow powder on a brush. And that’s pretty much all to it! Looks kinda complicated but actually pretty simple and great for any occasions you want to look a bit more extra for!! #CheriePartner
I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
☁️This 2-part treatment system takes 20+ minutes. You do it on dry hair before you shampoo & condition. First you saturate your hair with Nº 0, wait 10 minutes, don’t rinse, then add Nº 3 & leave on for an additional 10+ minutes. Nº 3 can be used alone, but Nº 0 is meant to be used only as a precursor for Nº 3. I originally bought this for my bf’s heavily damaged hair, but he’s so lazy about using anything😑 So finally we made it happen. My hair isn’t currently damaged from bleach like it used to be, however, because I have a neurological disease, some days I’m in so much pain, tossing & turning in bed all day, I pull my hoodie over my head & use a heating pad on it. Days like this my thick hair becomes a wreck. Swipe for photos. I definitely get a lot of breakage around my hairline, I’m so over it lol, I’ve got silk pillowcases coming in the mail💤💌 I picked a “bad hair day” like this from the other day after my flareup calmed down to try this 2-part treatment system for you guys. I’m aware that no hair treatment can make a strand of hair full length again once it’s snapped short... I was more curious to see what this treatment could do for my bf’s hair. He washes it waaay too much because he thinks it’s dirty due to his job, which gives his hair tons of sun damage. I was mortified when he told me he washes it twice a day! Don’t do this! It strips away your natural oils! His hair is so brittle & dry! OLAPLEX - No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Kit $28/5.2 of Nº 0 + 1 oz of Nº 3 Everyone seems to be raving about Olaplex products, so I had my hopes set pretty high. This may be an unpopular opinion, but this treatment didn’t impress me much. I have to use sooo much product for my hair & it’s only shoulder length. My hair is extremely thick, I’m no stranger to using extra product, but this was a little ridiculous. I used almost the entire full size Nº 0 & every last drop of the sample size Nº 3. The amount I used on my bf was quite little. His hair is very thin & only like 4-5” long. OLAPLEX - No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment $28/5.2 oz He thought I was using a lot, because the nozzle dispenses so slowly (which is good I guess because the consistency is like water) but the level only went down about a half inch. Not really any scent. I found it so time consuming to do this step myself. The applicator made me feel like I was in highschool using box dye. I actually transferred it to an empty (& clean) Briogeo spray bottle because I was so frustrated. It dispensed it a lot faster, but still be very careful. I had a cut on finger & it burned really bad, so don’t get it in your eyes! OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector $28/3.3 oz Similar to typical hair conditioner in texture/consistency/scent-easy to apply. THE RESULTS: His hair: still fried This just wouldn’t be feasible for my hair considering I emptied a $28 bottle for 1 use. Hair was soft after nothin special.
2021 Fashion Week Inspired Makeup - Hermès
2021 Fashion Week Inspired Makeup - Hermès
This look is inspired by models for Hermes for 2021 spring/summer fashion week. This look focuses on super dewy skin and a bold, red lip as the center of attention. This look was really easy to recreate and something I would actually rock IRL (except for the lack of mascara because mascara is bae). I’ve included the inspo photo from Allure. To add a glowy base to my complexion, I used Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid . I only ever use 1 pump of this oil-serum hybrid because I think any more makes me look like a grease ball. I applied this all over my face and dabbed a tiny amount onto my eyelids. This product is perfect for applying on bare skin, under makeup, and can even be used over makeup for a natural, wet-looking highlight. After I applied my complexion products, I dabbed a tiny amount onto the high points of my cheekbones. Sticking with the dewy theme, I used the ILIA - Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 in “balos”. I’m not sure if the models were wearing complexion products because their skin looked super natural, yet also “flawless”. Since I have some redness on my cheeks, I used this skin tint to even out my skin tone and amp up the dew. I lightly concealed underneath my eyes with the e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer in “light peach”. The models don’t appear to be wearing any cheek products, though I did add a tiny bit of AOA studio - Sculpt FX Contour in “fawn” to help sculpt my cheeks a tiny bit like the models. I finished the look off with the SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in “always red”. I’ve had a mini of this for quite a while. It’s beautiful, comfortable despite being matte, does leave a tint behind, and is long-wearing. This is the kind of lipstick that would last from the runway well into the after party (in non-COVID times, of course). The models don’t appear to be wearing any mascara, so I skipped that. I filled in my brows a bit more than usual for a fuller appearance. I used the essence - Superlast Eyebrow Pomade Pencil in “dark brown”. Such a fun look! You guys it’s sooo hard not to smile. How do models do it?! 🤪 Look for another fashion week look soon. All brands are cruelty-free except for Sephora Collection. Prices: futuredew $24, skin tint $46, concealer $6, contour stick $1, lip stain (full size) $15, brow pencil $3.50 #Cherie Partner
🍵 green tea works!! for dark circles
🍵 green tea works!! for dark circles
I've had struggles with insomnia since I was a kid. At one point, I accepted my dark circles. But sometimes, making yourself look healthier can make you FEEL better. And that's important. When you lose sleep, your skin gets paler, & your blood vessels dilate. So thin, pale skin + bigger vessels = dark under eyes. The 1st solution is to sleep more. But the 2nd works really well for our off days! 🍃 GREEN TEA TREATMENT 🍃 I was skeptical of this at first. But it WORKS. In the first pic (above), I had gotten 4 hours of sleep. In the after (below) pic, I had done a green tea bag soak. Tutorial : Soak two tea bags in water in your refrigerator. I left mine overnight. Try to use pure green tea. I used the #Twinings - Green Tea[products]#[FiveStars] Take the bags, squeeze excess water, and apply them over your eyes. Leave a little water so it can get snug on your eyes (like a blanket). I put the thick end on my under eye, and fit the top part on my upper lid. Both are important to reduce dark circles. Remove after 15 minutes. And that's it! Your eyes will look less red, and you'll feel more awake. I know the process is long- so it's not ideal for when you're in a rush. But it's also very anti-anxiety. My facial muscles felt relaxes, and the redness was 75% gone. My skin felt tighter (in a good way) for a few hours. 🍂TESTING ANOTHER METHOD🍂 I wanted to try a quick under eye cream for days where I only have a minute. So I tried the PACIfICA - Rose Jelly Beauty Sleep Undereye Gel In the 4th pic, the top is me before, and the bottom is me after. What I did: Leave it in the fridge over night In the morning, rub the product in (using the glass beads to massage the eyes). Sadly, the difference was minimal. It made me feel relaxed, but I wonder if I should have used more of the gel / kept the cooling beads on longer. 🧪 INGREDIENTS BREAKDOWN 🧪 I think green tea worked better because I kept it on (and cold) so long. It has a high concentrate of caffeine and ECGC. Both constrict blood vessels, and reduce inflammation. The Pacifica product has caffeine, too. But its first ingredient is witch hazel (reduces swelling). It also has caffeine, rose extract (reduces lines), and blue tansy (soothes irritation). All these are helpful to target dark circles, but maybe they're not potent enough. And the tube is small, so I don't want to use too much of it. On the plus side, it kept my under eyes moisturized all day. So I'll still take it for on the go. But if you REALLY need to look awake for a Zoom meeting or appointment? Green tea is the way to go!
