Empties But Won't Repurchase, According To Cherie UsersTake a look at Cherie users' reviews of those products they emptied but would not repurchase EVER AGAIN!
Cherie is an online community of beauty lovers sharing their stories; whether that's their favorite products, makeup tutorials, or skincare routines. Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you!'It worth every penny you spent!' This is almost the highest praise for a beauty product, right? We all hope the hydrating cream we bought will keep us away from flakes and dryness, and the anti-aging serum can fade away wrinkles just as it claims (but until years pass, you can't really know). But the truth sometimes may disappoint us: not every of our beauty products do works wonders, even if you have already used it up. Our beauty lovers in Cherie do know this feeling, and they shared the empties which are not cost-effective enough, work poorly, or have an unpleasant smell. To save your time and money, we rounded up 8 popular products that Cherie users are not willing to repurchase after using up. *All products featured below are sourced from the posts of Cherie's users. This product claims that it can help the problem of puffiness, wrinkles, and dark circles. To my disappointment, it doesn't work for me. ❎Puffiness I've got puffy eyes and counted on this cream to help with it. But The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Eye Essence is much more useful. You'd better try it instead of this eye cream. ❎Wrinkles This eye serum is not efficient enough to moisturize and treat the skin under my eyes. I don't see it working to reduce wrinkles. 🤔 ❎Dark Circles This eye cream is completely USELESS to dark circles! Maybe it was my ridiculous thought to use an eye cream to relieve my dark circles. Now I learned and will depend on concealer next time. All in all, it hasn't done any of what it claims. Since I have already used it all up, I can responsibly say that it doesn't work AT ALL. On the flip side, it hasn't hurt my skin. Just not worth the money.2. Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clear
I decided to try them because of my issues with my blackheads being very noticeable and wanted to see how this would help them. I started only using this occasionally, but for the past 2 months I have been using this at least 2 or 3 times a week (how much it states to use it on the bottle), which is how I finally finished this bottle! I still have one more bottle left that expires in October, so glad to have this one gone 😝 Once I started using this product consistently, I noticed a somewhat improvement in my blackheads, but nothing spectacular or that noticeable. I do still use pore strips and those help more than this, but this is obviously less harsh. What I enjoy most of this product is how it fizzes! I don’t find anything remarkable about this product and wasn’t impressed. This sounds neat in theory, but wouldn’t recommend it because there was basically no improvement that could be accredited to this product alone.3. Tatcha Violet C Brightening Mask
I finished this entire travel size in 3 uses and it did not improve my skin. So, to give it a full chance I purchased the full size. I have been using it ever since but I unfortunately do not see any visible effects on my skin. I was literally sad about it coz I love the brand so much and love so many of their products. I tried to love this mask hard but I think this mask and me were just not meant to be.4. THAYERS Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner
I feel like I did the impossible: I finished an entire bottle of THAYERS - Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel Facial Toner. The toner is a cult classic that has aloe aloe vera and witch hazel extracts. It is supposed to “soothe and naturally cleanse” your skin. After cleansing your skin, you are supposed swipe the product on to your skin with a cotton ball/pad. My first post on Cherie was about an empties pile. In that pile was the Thayer’s WH. I got them from Amazon. The second bottle had a different font so I am not sure if my first bottle was fake since there have been allegations of fakes being sold on Amazon. At the time, I gave it 2 stars, but since DMing and watching LAbeautyologist, I had to bump it down to 1 star. Not only did it not help my skin, but it also boosted my oil production because witch hazel is an ASTRINGENT. Toners are supposed to restore skins pH so this isn’t a toner. We have been hoodwinked and bamboozled. I am so glad that finished the first bottle. The second one would probably work as a brush cleaner.
5. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser

this is not a repurchase for me. I found it was onto successful if used in a specific double cleanse or it left me feeling either filmy or very dry. I loved the texture before it was mixed with water which then it became super sudsy. I have combo-oily skin in summer and combo-dry in winter. This was a total miss no matter what I season I used I in. I’ve tried to love this and just can’t. I’m proud of myself for finishing since I’m on a no- buy, but this def isn’t the one for me.6. Mario Badescu Facial Spray
aloe vera, cucumber & green tea mist. this does nothing for me ☹️ I ended up using it to spray my makeup sponges with to blend in my foundation & concealer. which worked great! buuuuut...that’s not what it’s meant for. I didn’t feel any refreshing, hydrating qualities from this. it was essentially scented water. I had heard a lot of good things about this brand when I first joined the beauty community, so I thought I’d give this mist a go. no such luck for me! I would recommend other facial sprays over this. and if you were even remotely interested in trying this, elf has a similar product for a couple dollars cheaper.7. Drunk Elephant Lip Balm
This is a very “meh” empty for me. Sure, it’s hydrating but the hydration for me only lasts around 20 minutes and it spreads past my lips all around my mouth which is annoying. It actually spreads SO easily it gets on my teeth and on my tongue and it feels like it’s stuck there for a while with a stale taste. I feel like it’s nice for use at night when I’m not going to conscious for all of the negative side effects of this balm 😂 and once you’re down to the last bit like I am, there is an annoying plastic rim & you have to use a scooper or your finger to get the rest out...and it’s $18 so I don’t feel like I can justify throwing it away at this point.8. June Jacobs Papaya Purifying Enzyme mask
I picked this up last Christmas in a gift set of like 4-5 different June Jacobs mini masks, and I like this. It wasn’t anything special, it didn’t help with acne but it helped with exfoliating. It claims to moisturize, firm & help improve skin tone. Leave on 3-10 minutes depending on skin sensitivity but I only Left it on 3 mins before it started to burn. I wiped it off and my skin looked great though, it felt moisturized and my skin wasn’t red or irritated. I used it all up so it wouldnt go to waste and I didn’t hate it. But I wouldn’t repurchase because I don’t enjoy the scent, and it’s $60.00 USD For 4oz and I don’t think it’s worth it! I didn’t see results like crazy so the price isn’t worth it for me. I wouldn’t recommend it either as I prefer a chemical exfoliator or serum to hydrate in place of this.

Mascara for Allergenic and Eczema Prone Skin
I recently started having some health problems and started developing allergic reactions to most mascaras and eye makeup. Basically my eyes would get itchy, eczema breakouts, flake, and my eyelashes would fall out in clumps (I lead a glamorous life, I know). The only mascara I found I could use without issue was Lush’s mascara and I just stuck to that baby until (whomp-whomp) they discontinued it. I think I’ll do a post on my favorite discontinued products later (RIP). I heard some good things about friends about Physician’s Formula and that it’s formulated with sensitive and allergenic skin in mind. I tried this mascara yesterday and wore it a full day full of errands and sweating and it stays on and no allergic reaction!!! Like all more plant-derived mascaras, the formula is more runny and can be quite wet upon application but their brush really helps keep the lashes from sticking together. If you’re going to compare this to some other mascaras on the market (like They’re Real!, Better Than Sex, etc.) you’ll probably not be happy with these aspects of the formula BUT if you’re like me and haven’t even wore mascara for over six months due to severe allergic reactions and eczema flares this is a damn lifesaver. I have very blonde body hair and have missed having visible curled lashes! Love this product! PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Organic Wear Natural Origin Mascara In Black
an amazing line for dull skin + pigmentation
Georgette Klinger and Cherie gifted these products to me so I could review them honestly! I have been using them for ten days now, and I have thoughts to share! I supplemented this routine with a moisturizer, spf, and eye cream, as well as hydrating masks every three days. Pre-Information — I’ve used many vitamin c products in the past, and my skin likes the ingredient! I have combo skin, which is sensitive and acne prone. I also have rosacea, which makes my skin red, especially when using actives. Every product here has fragrance and all the products smell like an orchard (it’s strong!). If you are sensitive to fragrance, keep that in mind. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Cleansing Gel 6.7 oz I like this cleanser, and I don’t usually reach for gel cleansers because they tend to be fairly stripping. This one is gentle and doesn’t dehydrate my skin on impact; I use it as a second cleanse at night following an oil based cleanser. It doesn’t irritate my skin, but kind of soothes it instead — which is a lot to ask for from a cleanser. Not the best for daytime use for me, I find that in the mornings my skin is better off with water + toner. Three stars because it smells like dollar store hand soap and I cannot ignore it. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Toner I think it’s an okay toner! I don’t like the dispenser at all, because product comes out fast and it’s hard to control. The viscosity of the toner is pretty thin, but my skin feels smooth after application. It sinks in fast and isn’t sticky! I use this with a reusable cotton round and it preps my skin nicely for the rest of my routine. It’s not really a “special” product for me, and I’m the kind of person who wants skincare routines to be ritualistic and also make me feel good on the inside, so I’ll have to pass on repurchasing. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Complex This might be one of my favorite vitamin c serums! It’s a little tacky, but sinks in faster than some serums I’ve used, and once you apply a moisturizer, the tackiness disappears. It’s pretty gentle and I didn’t experience any discomfort, tingling, or excess redness after application. I really like the packaging on this, and it’s an easy product to slip into your routine. GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Mask This is my favorite product out of the four! I LOVE the packaging — pump top for a mask? Revolutionary. The pump makes getting product so easy, and you can control it easily. The texture of this mask is like a thick smoothie, and it smells good, too. I noticed my skin becoming brighter when I use this for a midday pick-me-up. I can guarantee that I’ll run out of this one first. Overall, my skin looks GOOD. I can’t tell if it’s just because of my cycle, or if these products did wonders for me (ten days is a short time to tell I think). I did notice some dehydration towards the five day mark, but overall my skin looks better!
5 Reasons Why I Love TO’s Niacinamide Serum
I first heard about The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum when I was searching for brightening serums last year. While my combination skin rarely ever breaks out, I do have some dark marks left over from the occasional pimples that I would like to disappear, or at least, improve in appearance. So I ordered TO’s Niacinamide Serum, crossing my fingers and hoping that it’s actually effective. It’s been almost a whole year later and I’m already on my third bottle of this serum. I have to say, I love it more and more as time goes by! Here are the 5 reasons why. 1. It lightens up my dark spots. It’s not a very dramatic change, mind you, but it does lighten my dark spots quite noticeably. I guess I’ll have to use a few more bottles of this serum if I want to completely lighten them. 2. It smoothens my skin’s texture. I can't believe just how nice it is to glide your fingers over your skin and not feel any bumps! 3. It provides much-needed moisture. My skin never feels dry when I have this serum on. I think it’s successful in locking in the moisture from my essence, too. 4. It doesn’t make my skin oily. Even though it moisturizes my skin, it doesn’t make my face look oily or greasy. This is very important to me because I really like keeping my face matte. 5. It makes me look fresh in the morning. Who doesn’t like seeing that healthy glow on their face when they wake up in the morning? Definitely not me! Can you guess what my overall rating is? 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses! I really enjoy using this product and I think I’ll keep using it for the future, at least until I find a worthy replacement. Hopefully not, though! If you have some dark spots and you’re having a hard time reducing their appearance, you may want to try out The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum! You can get it for only $5.90 on the Cherie website! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Have you tried this product before? Loved it, hated it? Let me know in the comments!
My Acne Journey (Long Story)
Hi there! My name is Chelle, and like I’m sure many of you have dealt with, I have been in a battle with acne since I was a teenager. It’s been the bane of my existence and a constant thwart to my self-confidence. About 4 years ago, I started using Curology - Curology formula which, at first, worked absolute wonders! They prescribed to me a formula with azelaic acid, and for about 3 years, I felt like I had conquered and controlled my acne issues. Of course, I still had the scars and enlarged pores, but no new breakouts or cysts. I was incredibly satisfied and for once in my life, I had gained some the self-confidence that I never had growing up. I even enjoyed not having to wear as much makeup. However, a couple months before my wedding last year, I started noticing some acne beginning to consistently form in my chin area. I at first attributed to pre-wedding stress (which honestly didn’t make much sense because I actually didn’t do all my wedding planning). But even after the wedding, the breakouts continued to worsen. I reached out to Curology and they switched my prescription to the more aggressive tretinoin. It helped to control it somewhat, but unlike before, new breakouts would surface every week. So with that being said, I’m going back to square one with my acne journey. I’ll using Cherie as a journal to document my successes and failures as I try to, again, get the zits under control. I happily welcome recommendations and feedback! I am by no means a skin or beauty expert, but my hope is that my journey will somewhat encourage another individual that they’re not alone in this battle! Here are the list of products that I am currently using. I’ll do reviews of them as I go! Quarantine Manicure 💅🏼
Hi my name is Katerina, you may call me Kat and I’m a neutrals girl. I gravitate to anything and everything neutrals. I may have 50 shades of neutral polish in my collection already. But that doesn’t stop me from adding more! I found this pretty shade on amazon during my regular quarantine browse. I never tried the miracle gel line and decided to give it a go. Just so you know I prefer regular polish for myself. I know you may pass judgment but hear me out! I feel like gel and shellac and other long lasting polishes destroy my nails. They become dry, thin, brittle and break easily. I don’t think it’s worth it. So I prefer to experiment with different brands of regular polishes to see which lasts the longest. Also a couple of chips here and there really don’t bother me. This is my 5th time using this product so I feel like I can give an honest review about how I feel about it. The color is called ‘Little Peony #247’🌸It’s a creamy baby pink shade. It almost reminds me of the OLD Essie Fiji color (my favorite shade of all time before they changed it to a darker pink color). It took two coats to get an even distribution of color and dried quickly when topped with Seche Vite top coat. The color started chipping around day five. But before you click away let me tell you that my hands are always in water. I’m a Chef, so I’m always working with my hands. I’m also a clean freak that still gets on her hands and knees to clean the floors from a bucket twice a week. So my hands take a beating on a regular basis and this polish managed to stay intact through the daily torture. If you’re not working this much with your hands I’m pretty sure you can get away with a week of it not chipping. I’m probably going to look into more shade from this collection and see if the Fórmula holds up for all their shades this well. If you’re still a regular polish fan I highly recommend this collection but especially this color because I die over it!
