Out With the Old Means Room for the New- We Have Makeup Disposal Tips For You!Here are some useful makeup disposal tips.

Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you!Spring is almost here, and with it comes spring weather, spring flowers, spring fashions, and…ugh…the dreaded spring cleaning. One place in your home that never quite gets the attention it needs is your makeup kit. Do you remember the last time you wore that scented glitter gel? Is that lipstick so old, it might actually be retro? March 2nd is National Old Stuff Day- what better time is there to let your friends here at Cherie help you get your kit squeaky clean, safe, and lean? We all have those beloved tried-and-true products that we save until we are scraping the jar to get the last drop. They make clutter, make messes, but did you know they can make you sick? Saying goodbye to old products is hard, and replacing them can be frustrating if the brand or color is no longer available. It can also be an unexpected expense if you have to start from scratch. It is, however, an unfortunate and necessary evil for healthy, happy skin. Makeup, not unlike that yogurt sitting in the back of your fridge, has an expiration date. Dates will vary by product, type, and what they are made of. As they age, the materials they are made up of will break down, and the chemical components may cause rashes, outbreaks, and irritation. Much of the time, as they dry, they become either difficult or impossible to apply, especially in liquid form. Pigments may also settle away from what they are suspended in (e.g., oils), and may not mix correctly again as they once did. Worse still, especially with eye products and makeup brushes and sponges, the bacterial buildup may occur, and enter the skin through scratches, etc., causing potentially dangerous infections. Not sure where to start? Follow our handy guide! Step 1- Look at the LabelDid you know many cosmetics put the expiration date on the label? It is not obvious, but it can often be found near the bar code of the product and looks like an open jar with a number on it. This is called the Period after Opening, or PAO symbol. It indicates the number of months a product can be safely used after opening it (e.g., 6 = 6 months, 24 = two years, etc.). These logos are required by the US Food and Drug Administration, as well as the European Commission, so it is highly likely that they will be visible on your favorite product. Step 2- No Expiration Date Listed? Consider How It’s AppliedIf no expiration date is visible, think about how the product is applied. If it is one you apply directly to a "wet" place, like the eyes or lips, it is highly likely that there is an increase for the risk of bacteria to grow in it over a period of time. For example, with a mascara wand, you are introducing whatever is on your lashes into the entire tube of product, then sealing it in a moist place, allowing it to multiply. This is not as big a concern for powder-based products, because you use a tool to apply them, and they are dry, which reduces the risk for bacterial growth. Step 3- Remember, Powder Has Staying PowerProducts like shadows, blushes, and bronzers generally have 24-month (two years) expiration dates.Step 4- Don’t Forget, Creamy Can Be DreamyCream-based products like shadows, blushes, and foundations will last between 12-18 months (1-1.5 years), depending on their formulation. Step 5- Check Your Foundation- You Can Only Conceal So Much For So LongOil-free foundations and concealers will last between will last between 12-18 months (1-1.5 years), depending on their formulation. Step 4- Lose that LippyLipstick and lip liners, unfortunately, have the shortest shelf life of lip products and should be thrown away after 12 months. Lip glosses have a slightly longer shelf life- between 18-24 months (1.5-2 years). If it has wand applicator, make sure to clean the tip regularly to prevent the transmission of bacteria. Chapsticks tend to last even a bit longer- around 2-3 years. Bacteria may build up in and around the cap and application area. If it smells different or there has been a change in the original color, throw it away. Better to be safe than sorry. Step 5- Aye, Aye, Aye- Those Eye Products Have to GO! Perhaps the most disappointing of all of these is the shelf life for eye products. Not only do they dry out and become chunky and flaky quickly, but they are also the riskiest to use beyond their expiration date. Liquid or gel liners and mascaras should be disposed of within three months of purchase. There is a small consolation prize; however- pencil liners have a shelf life of two years. Your favorite brow pencil is safe! …For now…Step 6- Apply the Same Rules to Lotions, Cleansers, and TreatmentsThe PAO logo is the same for your skincare regimen products. If you are unsure how long you have had it, and you suspect it’s been longer than 6 months, replace it.Step 7- Show Your Tools Some LoveBrushes, blenders, and sponges should be cleaned regularly to prevent product buildup, breakouts, and bacterial infection. If they smell, are torn, or have lost their shape after use, replace them. In general, sponges should be replaced every 3-6 months. The rubber grips on eyelash curlers should also be cleaned and regularly replaced, a fact that is easily overlooked. Do you have something you already love that we haven’t included here? Skincare Products ( that i have been LOVING )
Recently, I have been super into skincare and keeping up with my skin’s appearance as I am growing myself in the beauty industry ( meaning that I am now CONSTANTLY doing makeup on myself! ) Fluff and Starface both sent me these products to try out, and I have been LOVING them so far! I have combination skin, and this routine is PERFECT for me! My new three favorite skincare products that I have been enjoying as of lately are 1) FLUFF - Face Oil #1 , which is 100% jojoba oil, which I used as an all natural makeup remover! Jojoba oil is super moisturizing and amazing for literally all skin types- especially acne prone and sensitive skin! 2) FLUFF cleanser , which is again - all natural - containing jojoba oil, hemp seed oil (which moisturizes without clogging pores, and balances out oily skin), ashwagandha root (which stimulates production of natural skin oils), and aloe vera (which reduces blemishes and acne, as well as lightens blemishes on the face). This cleanser does a great job of removing makeup as well as leaving you skin moisturized and soft! 3) STARFACE Moisture on Mars Hydrating Face Cream! A little bit of this product really goes a long way, leaving your face super soft, hydrated, and all with a SERIOUS glow!!! I highly recommend checking these 3 products all out! They all work great separately, but in my opinion as I have been using them cohesively, my skin has been looking and feeling great ( besides that one pimple 🙄 ). xx Isabelle
Full Face Using Products from Nov Boxy Premium✨
Hey Cherie Fam! 🍒 I finally received and unboxed my November BoxyCharm premium. For those unfamiliar with Boxycharm, it is a subscription service that gives you 5 full size make up products monthly. The base box comes with 5 items for 25 a month. If you want premium, it is 35. You get 2-3 more items than the base box. I used the star ⭐️ of the show (or rather star of the box) which is Illamasqua artistry palette. This retails for $47 USD. This palette performs well. The mattes were not patchy and the shimmers were impactful. There’s quite a fall out so I recommend doing your eye first before complexion. Then I used DoC single block eyeshadow in the shade Night Sky. This is perfect for a cool toned Smokey eye look. I used this for a pop of blue on my lower lash. #Dose of Colors - Block Party[products]# The realher lip liners come in a duo. I love the packaging because it doesn’t require sharpening. The formula was so pigmented and creamy. I was pretty impressed to be honest. I received a pencil eyeliner from the same brand on my last box and I didn’t like it at all. The Too Faced canary diamond highlighter, Lilly Lashes triple x mascara and Alamar’s gloss are from the pop up. I got them 80% off retail price! I wasn’t a fan of the mascara at first, but after applying it with a lash primer, it was amazing. It lengthened, darkened, and gave me volume. The highlighter was okay. It’s pretty but it’s quite chunky. I’m more of a subtle, glow-from-within type of highlighter. If you’re a fan of blinding highlighters, this is for you. I am a huge fan of the packaging. The lip gloss is ok. I wouldn’t pay full price for it however. Too Faced - Diamond Light Highlighter Lilly LASHES - Triple X Mascara HOURGLASS - Arch Brow Micro Sculpting Pencil aLamar COSMETICS - Desnudeas Lip Gloss Coqueta So far I am pretty satisfied with my box this month. If you are subscribed, what is your favorite product from your box? Xoxo, Francesca 💋
My Ulta Black Friday haul ✨
So upon seeing the ad for Ulta’s Black Friday I told myself I wasn’t going to purchase anything... three separate purchases later I found myself with a completely pink haul (which is completely out of character for me 😂) The first thing I picked up on Black Friday was the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit which I have used a few times since then. I’m absolutely blown away how stunning this is on the cheeks. I feel like ABH is the queen of highlighters that look subtle but still give you that bam out of this world glow from within. Later on in the night I decided I needed the COLOURPOP - Lux Lip Oilin the shade Truth Bomb and the #Colourpop - Amourex Glitterly Obsessed Mini Duo[products]#. I have two glitter gels by Colourpop and I absolutely love them despite not using them often. The mini pots are super cute and I don’t feel wasteful if I don’t use them. Then, on Saturday I purchased the ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - Haute Holiday Lip Gloss Setbecause it was on sale and I’ve been obsessed with the pale nude colors since this set came out. I also impulse bought the #It Cosmetics - Rose Gold Eye Brush Set[products]#as it was also on sale (I think I paid around $20 for it) and I needed the liner brush in it for my Melt Cosmetics gel eyeliners. This set comes with four brushes which includes my absolute favorite blending brush, the number 105. It Cosmetics has the SOFTEST brushes I’ve ever used. The quality by far surpasses anything I own. It also comes with a really cute rose gold container for it. I’m hoping to have reviews up for these eventually but here is my current Ulta haul 💗 I also plan on posting my Sephora Black Friday haul and my Ulta Cyber Monday haul once I get that. What did you guys pick up for for Black Friday?
