$103 vs $29: Can this vintage gem be duped?
ESTĒE LAUDER - Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II
VS
MISSHA - Time Revolution Night Repair Borabit Ampoule
HONEST FEMME FINDS:
Estée Lauder’s night serum was the first thing I ever took from my mom’s vanity (apparently similar to how others discovered it) and immediately grew a liking to the formula. The amber bottle never told me what was so great about it but I knew it was something special. After eagerly using up the 30ml in a month, I was excited to repurchase but horrified to find that a 1.7ml bottle would cost $100+. I came to terms with the fact that I just did not have the means to use it daily.
At airports, I was that person who waded through the duty free section to use a sample of this serum, leaving my face supple for a red eye flight. I also noticed the patented ingredient, bífida ferment lysate. When I saw recent videos of the many dupes that have come out since Estée Lauder patented the formulation in 2008, I immediately felt compelled to try it. Here are my first impressions.
MISSHA - Time Revolution Night Repair Borabit Ampoule
IMPRESSIONS: Wow, it’s way larger of a bottle than I expected, looks super luxurious too! The color looks the same (peachy), consistency upon eye-balling looks identical, and even the smell reminds me of the OG. Wow. On the face, it feels slightly oilier/tackier than I remembered Estée Lauder’s to be but overall it feels similar. Softened my skin immediately. The next morning, after using it as my last step, my skin still felt soft and definitely looks brighter in the mirror. I can’t say for long term effects but so far so good!
INGREDIENTS: Second ingredient is bífida ferment lysate (a probiotic that has anti-UV damage properties, helps w/ skin barrier), but also in addition Niacinamide, fermented and fruit extracts with anti-aging properties that the original doesn’t have.
PRICE: $29 on Amazon prime vs $103 for the original. Imma stop there.
REFLECTIONS: When I was wowed by Estée Lauder’s vintage gem, it was years ago, before I truly started my skincare journey. My skin has improved drastically since I incorporated Vit C, HA, AHA and retinol (even SPF!) into my life and I’m wondering if I’ll feel as in awe by bífida ferment lysate as I once did. I guess I will find out if I really NEED this ingredient in my routine. Updates to come!
Cheers to ingredients sounding like congenital conditions🥂
wrinkles go away
I’m always one to be open to trying new products to see how they can benefit my skin. If it doesn’t work, I simply move onto the next product. If I ever come across something that works extremely well, I’ll add it to my list of must haves and will usually not steer away from that product unless I happen to stumble across a better working product.
ESTĒE LAUDER - Advanced Night Repair Limited Edition
ESTĒE LAUDER - Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Crème
For my skin care routine to keep my skin hydrated, I’ve consistently been using Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night repair and their Revitalizing Supreme+. These two have worked great in keeping my skin hydrated which helps keep my dry skin away and whenever my skin is more hydrated, I look younger.
These two also have great anti-aging affects on your skin, and you can really see the difference after a few applications. Your lines and wrinkles start to disappear after a few application, that along with the more hydrated skin really makes your skin feel amazing. The Revitalizing Supreme+ creme is non-acnegenic, so it doesn’t clog my pores and helps me reduce my acne.
This works great with the advanced night repair because that serum is oil free. I’ve always had acne prone skin, so using these two has helped my acne and even helped reduce breakouts. I highly recommend these two products if you have acne prone skin, dry skin, or have dehydration. These two products go hand in hand and will work wonders for anyone with similar skin issues as me. Results may not show right away, but constant application will show great results!
Mascara for Allergenic and Eczema Prone Skin
I recently started having some health problems and started developing allergic reactions to most mascaras and eye makeup. Basically my eyes would get itchy, eczema breakouts, flake, and my eyelashes would fall out in clumps (I lead a glamorous life, I know). The only mascara I found I could use without issue was Lush’s mascara and I just stuck to that baby until (whomp-whomp) they discontinued it. I think I’ll do a post on my favorite discontinued products later (RIP).
I heard some good things about friends about Physician’s Formula and that it’s formulated with sensitive and allergenic skin in mind. I tried this mascara yesterday and wore it a full day full of errands and sweating and it stays on and no allergic reaction!!!
Like all more plant-derived mascaras, the formula is more runny and can be quite wet upon application but their brush really helps keep the lashes from sticking together. If you’re going to compare this to some other mascaras on the market (like They’re Real!, Better Than Sex, etc.) you’ll probably not be happy with these aspects of the formula BUT if you’re like me and haven’t even wore mascara for over six months due to severe allergic reactions and eczema flares this is a damn lifesaver. I have very blonde body hair and have missed having visible curled lashes! Love this product!

5 Reasons Why I Love TO’s Niacinamide Serum
I first heard about The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum when I was searching for brightening serums last year. While my combination skin rarely ever breaks out, I do have some dark marks left over from the occasional pimples that I would like to disappear, or at least, improve in appearance. So I ordered TO’s Niacinamide Serum, crossing my fingers and hoping that it’s actually effective.
It’s been almost a whole year later and I’m already on my third bottle of this serum. I have to say, I love it more and more as time goes by! Here are the 5 reasons why.
1. It lightens up my dark spots. It’s not a very dramatic change, mind you, but it does lighten my dark spots quite noticeably. I guess I’ll have to use a few more bottles of this serum if I want to completely lighten them.
2. It smoothens my skin’s texture. I can't believe just how nice it is to glide your fingers over your skin and not feel any bumps!
3. It provides much-needed moisture. My skin never feels dry when I have this serum on. I think it’s successful in locking in the moisture from my essence, too.
4. It doesn’t make my skin oily. Even though it moisturizes my skin, it doesn’t make my face look oily or greasy. This is very important to me because I really like keeping my face matte.
5. It makes me look fresh in the morning. Who doesn’t like seeing that healthy glow on their face when they wake up in the morning? Definitely not me!
Can you guess what my overall rating is?
💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses! I really enjoy using this product and I think I’ll keep using it for the future, at least until I find a worthy replacement. Hopefully not, though!
If you have some dark spots and you’re having a hard time reducing their appearance, you may want to try out The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum! You can get it for only $5.90 on the Cherie website! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

My Acne Journey (Long Story)
Hi there! My name is Chelle, and like I’m sure many of you have dealt with, I have been in a battle with acne since I was a teenager. It’s been the bane of my existence and a constant thwart to my self-confidence.
About 4 years ago, I started using Curology - Curology formula which, at first, worked absolute wonders! They prescribed to me a formula with azelaic acid, and for about 3 years, I felt like I had conquered and controlled my acne issues. Of course, I still had the scars and enlarged pores, but no new breakouts or cysts. I was incredibly satisfied and for once in my life, I had gained some the self-confidence that I never had growing up. I even enjoyed not having to wear as much makeup.
However, a couple months before my wedding last year, I started noticing some acne beginning to consistently form in my chin area. I at first attributed to pre-wedding stress (which honestly didn’t make much sense because I actually didn’t do all my wedding planning). But even after the wedding, the breakouts continued to worsen. I reached out to Curology and they switched my prescription to the more aggressive tretinoin. It helped to control it somewhat, but unlike before, new breakouts would surface every week.
So with that being said, I’m going back to square one with my acne journey. I’ll using Cherie as a journal to document my successes and failures as I try to, again, get the zits under control. I happily welcome recommendations and feedback! I am by no means a skin or beauty expert, but my hope is that my journey will somewhat encourage another individual that they’re not alone in this battle!
Here are the list of products that I am currently using. I’ll do reviews of them as I go!
