Download the app today to be a part of #BeautyWithoutBarriers and show the world what beauty means to you! Winter is upon us. Are dry air, overindulging on holiday treats, and buildup from lotion and makeup making your skin as flaky as a blizzard or as greasy as a Sunday morning cinnamon roll? Are you ready to spring into Spring with petal-soft, rosy cheeks? Purchasing your first exfoliator may make you feel a bit like Goldilocks trying to find the bed that’s just right. Some bristles are too stiff; others are too soft. Some do the work for you, while others require a little more muscle. Some are cheaper than the price of two peppermint mochas, while others are closer to a month’s worth. Still unsure? We have options for every skin type and budget. Let your friends here at Cherie give you our thoughts on the best exfoliators to help you love the skin you’re in, and keep it clean and bright on even the drabbest day! Sephora Collection- Cleansing Me Softly Facial Cleansing BrushSephora’s Cleaning Me Softly Facial Cleansing Brush is the ideal tool for a first-time user looking to dip their toes into exfoliating. It is small, low maintenance, and easy-to-use. For less than an average bottle of exfoliating cream, the $10.00 price point allows the user to decide whether or not using tools is for them with minimal sticker shock. Users love that it travels easily, works up a luxuriously foamy lather and that it's ecologically friendly because it doesn't require batteries or electricity. Feedback about the bristles varied- many loved that they were ideal for gentle cleansing, while others wanted more friction and a deeper clean. Some users also expressed concern over the fact that it was difficult to keep clean and dry, and that there may be a risk for mildew growth.Foreo Luna Play Plus / Luna Mini 2Foreo, a Swedish-based company, offers a compact, silicone-based exfoliator with a two-zone design for both deep cleansings and for use in delicate areas like under the eyes or around the mouth. At $49.00, it is a "middle of the road" tool and offers users a deeper clean with less effort. Users loved the design and color options, the fact that they did not have to replace the cleaning heads, and that it worked especially well for combination skin. They also frequently mentioned, however, that the exposed bottom where the batteries are inserted is problematic, as it is not waterproof and contributes to battery corrosion, and the product tends to break down when it becomes too wet. The Luna Mini 2 is a larger, modified version, and is generally better liked by users because it is waterproof, has a wider variety of colors, and charges with a USB instead of replacing batteries. At $179.00, it is more expensive than the Play Plus, but the design improvements definitely improved user opinions overall. Clairsonic Mia Prima Sonic Facial Cleansing BrushClairsonic is perhaps one of the most well-known home exfoliators on the market, and generally comes highly recommended for users wanting to minimize pores, brighten their skin, and prevent acne. Part of its appeal is how easy it is to use- this is a one-touch, one-speed product with a vibrating head that does the hard work of scrubbing for you. Users love the USB charging option and the fact that it is waterproof and can be used in the shower. One of its best features, however, is that users can select the brush head they need to address their specific skincare regimen, and can even mix and match them at different times to address multiple concerns. Ranging between $99.00 and $169.00, depending on the model, this product is a bit more of an investment than products similar to it, but, according to fans, is the most reliable, the most user-friendly, and the least complicated to use. Soft skin isn’t only for ladies, fellas! Clairsonic also has a model specifically for men with a charcoal brush head that is ideal for getting deep down into your skin and beard!Dermaflash Luxe Anti-Aging Dermaplaning Exfoliation DeviceDermaflash’s Luxe Dermaplaning device takes exfoliation to the next level, surpassing scrubbing, employing micro razors to remove not only dead skin but also "peach fuzz" claiming to give users smoother, younger-looking skin within eight weeks. The product is charged by a USB, meaning no batteries and an overall longer shelf life. This product also comes with a proprietary pre- and post-care skin treatment for cleansing and moisturizing to provide users with a full-service spa experience at home, that can either be refilled or used with your own cleanser and moisturizer. The dual-speed option, sleek design, and easy charging are all features users love. Some users mentioned that the use of a dermaplaning razor helped improve their ability to apply makeup better, while others said that they felt the regular replacement of the razors was both expensive and unnecessary. The $199.00 price tag makes this the most expensive product on our list, but those that love it claim it is worth every penny. Each of the products we've discussed here has its pros and cons. When deciding on a product, we recommend considering the following: 1) What is your ultimate goal- tight pores? Dry skin removal? Hair removal? 2) What kind of power source do you want to use (None? Batteries? USB charging?) 3) What kind of skin do you have? Do you need a softer brush, or do you want a deep clean with stiffer bristles? 4) How much are you willing to spend on an exfoliating product? Are you willing to commit to a product that requires part replacements (e.g., brush heads, razors, cleansers)? 5) Are you willing to use a product that requires upkeep (cleaning, etc.), or would you rather have something more disposable? Do you have something you already love that we haven’t included here? Check out our app and let us know about it!

4 VITAMIN C FAVES 💕 Mini Reviews
4 VITAMIN C FAVES 💕 Mini Reviews
Vit C should be the most commonly purchased skincare serum. There are so many reasons why a Vitamin C serum is important to use and it's basically a cure-all beauty product. Most serums help with sun damage, fine lines, acne scars, under eye bags, free-radicals and antioxidants. These are the 4 serums I own and love! I wanted to make a post about each of these in case you need help finding the right one. I received @thrivecausemetics Liquid Light Therapy as PR in April (I believe). I can not obsess enough over it. This one is 100% my favorite one I've tried, there is just something about the texture and consistency that feels so good ($59). I love this because it brightens the skin with red and blue light therapy to stimulate collage production and dramatically reduce wrinkles and reveal clear skin @summerfridays CC Me ($64) is next up on my list of faves. This one is also formulated with squalane to boost hydration while sealing in moisture and a peptide complex to help improve with elasticity and firmness. I find that this serum as well as the next one I am going to talk about are really good at brightening dull skin or if you have a lot of hyperpigmentation and use these twice a day, I do find that it truly helps combat it. I love @farmacybeauty lately! I am obsessed. I had a sample of the Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum and once I finished I was really reaching for more, so I caved and purchased a full size ($62) I find this one to be an interesting formula because it has 4 forms of Vitamin C. They use Acerola Cherry Extract which is one of the richest sources of NATURAL vitamin C to known to reduce signs of aging. If we want to talk about funky formulas, nothing could beat @volitionbeauty Strawberry-C Serum ($42). This formula is powered by Strawberry Fruit & Seed Extract to help brighten dull skin as well as unclogging pores and remove excess oil. This was the first full sized Vitamin C I purchased, mainly because of the reviews and the price! Although I no longer reach for this one as much, I do find if you want a great started serum or you aren't looking to spend a lot - this one does the job!
My favourite tinted SPF
My favourite tinted SPF
Sunscreen is the last and most important part of my AM routine. It protects skin from UV rays and prevents uneven skintone, dark spots, and aging from sun damage. I make sure to re-apply it every 2 hours even when it’s cloudy/rainy! That being said: This tinted moisturizer is my favourite SPF!! It's perfect for my oily-combo skin. The slight tint gives a sheer coverage and evens out my skin tone a little, and the matte finish keeps it from looking greasy. It’s easy to blend and absorb into skin due to its light texture. I still apply moisturizer beforehand cause I feel like it's not enough to moisturize my skin but overall I’d say this one is sooo worth the try!
Quarantine Manicure 💅🏼
Quarantine Manicure 💅🏼
Hi my name is Katerina, you may call me Kat and I’m a neutrals girl. I gravitate to anything and everything neutrals. I may have 50 shades of neutral polish in my collection already. But that doesn’t stop me from adding more! I found this pretty shade on amazon during my regular quarantine browse. I never tried the miracle gel line and decided to give it a go. Just so you know I prefer regular polish for myself. I know you may pass judgment but hear me out! I feel like gel and shellac and other long lasting polishes destroy my nails. They become dry, thin, brittle and break easily. I don’t think it’s worth it. So I prefer to experiment with different brands of regular polishes to see which lasts the longest. Also a couple of chips here and there really don’t bother me. This is my 5th time using this product so I feel like I can give an honest review about how I feel about it. The color is called ‘Little Peony #247’🌸It’s a creamy baby pink shade. It almost reminds me of the OLD Essie Fiji color (my favorite shade of all time before they changed it to a darker pink color). It took two coats to get an even distribution of color and dried quickly when topped with Seche Vite top coat. The color started chipping around day five. But before you click away let me tell you that my hands are always in water. I’m a Chef, so I’m always working with my hands. I’m also a clean freak that still gets on her hands and knees to clean the floors from a bucket twice a week. So my hands take a beating on a regular basis and this polish managed to stay intact through the daily torture. If you’re not working this much with your hands I’m pretty sure you can get away with a week of it not chipping. I’m probably going to look into more shade from this collection and see if the Fórmula holds up for all their shades this well. If you’re still a regular polish fan I highly recommend this collection but especially this color because I die over it!
Donts of Exfoliation
Donts of Exfoliation
Absolutely do not over-exfoliate! Over-exfoliation can disrupt the skin barrier function by just simply breaking down too many skin cells and disrupting the moisture content on the epidermis. Often times, especially people with oily skin and acne prone believe exfoliating is going to answer all their acne problems, and go on scrubbing 3+ times a week or using an exfoliating mask too often. This is actually counter intuitive for acne as if can actually make you break out more, and it can create sensitivities you dont need. How do you know you’re over exfoliating? If your skin lets you know. Yes, very confusing, but the reality is some people can actually tolerate more acids and scrubs than others, and the best way to figure out how much your skin can take is to incorporate little by little, one product at a time. If your skin is going red for prolonged periods of time, or tingling, even burning, for long or for the entire duration of having the product on (ie. With a mask) you’re probably overdoing it. Another way to prevent over exfoliation is just knowing when to stop. If your skin is happy and glowy and not breaking out, you may not need that new glycolic acid mask, adding an exfoliating mask to your regimen may just tip the scales into skin barrier disruption and dehydration! Be careful with exfoliation!
MYTH BUSTED! MIX THESE INGREDIENTS OR NOT?
MYTH BUSTED! MIX THESE INGREDIENTS OR NOT?
You know what zodiac sign you’re compatible with, but do you know what skincare ingredients in your routine are compatible? Vitamin c + Niacinamide To mix or to not? Hmm YES! Layer these bad boys up in your routine. (Obviously don’t go overboard, but yes apply these both) The beloved and most sought out for serums have an iffy relationship. You can mix these ingredients together, but there is some things out there that state you shouldn’t or that you should do so in caution. Here’s why! Let’s break it down and get to the point. * Vitamin C protects the skin from free radicals and works towards brightening dark spots, scars, and the overall skin tone. This is best used in the morning to protect from free radicals as we go through our day. ALWAYS wear SPF with Vitamin C! Vitamin C will increase sun sensitivity, so please further your protection with SPF. * Niacinamide is an anti-inflammatory that brightens and promotes a more even skin tone, improves skin elasticity and texture! It’s a Holly Grail tbh. On top of all of that it’s also great to fight free radicals damage and pollution. Using Vitamin C + Niacinamide together? Niacinamide is “said” to cancel out all of the good properties of Vitamin C! BUT there are plenty of studies that show there is NO HARM in using these together. These two serums together can be a powerhouse combo We love these ingredients and need to use them in our skin care! You still can! How to use vitamin c and Niacinamide in your routine: use one ingredient in the AM and one in the PM. Try applying Vitamin C in the am (with spf!) and Niacinamide at night. This way you’ll still get both ingredient’s FULL benefits, but without irritation for reactive or sensitive skin. space them out. You need to let each serum absorb into your skin and allow some time in between applying them and they should not be layered right on top of each other. * this is only if you really feel the need to apply both of them* The results: using these can help uneven skin tone, skin elasticity, texture, and dullness of the skin. So if you plan on using these ingredients together, check out my two favorite below and featured in my photo. Fourth Ray - Raydiate Vitamin C Elixir This version of vitamin c is a mix of a serum and a face oil, so you’ll have to shake it up to mix the two together. + this is light in consistency and absorbs nicely into the skin. + not tacky or sticky. + smells great + ACTUALLY WORKS. My favorite one yet! + lasts longer than most vitamin C serums (shelf life) + $16 GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum This GM serum is among the best and very affordable. + light weight and absorbs well into the skin + has a sticky texture, but is gone after it absorbs into the skin. + smooths our texture and brightens skin. + 10% Niacinamide + layers well with other serums and skincare. + $6
