A good chemical peel removes the top layers of skin with an intense exfoliation. This removes hyperpigmentation and acne scars, unclogs pores, and makes the skin tone look more even. Chemical peels can also make skin look more youthful by reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Chemical peels were initially an expensive professional treatment that was only available at spas, but in recent years, many companies have released at-home treatments you can do yourself. Here are some of the best at-home chemical peels to brighten up your skin without breaking the bank. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling SolutionThe Ordinary has made a name for themselves as a budget friendly brand that doesn’t skimp on quality or style. This at-home chemical peel is no exception, with a mix of three exfoliating acids to completely remove dead skin cells and brighten up your face. Glycolic and lactic acids remove the outer layers of the skin, while salicylic acid penetrates further to unclog pores. It’s completely vegan, gluten-free, and cruelty-free and is safe for all skin types. Tasmanian pepperberry soothes the skin to prevent irritation, with black carrot and vitamin B5 to further nourish your skin. This high-quality chemical peel is one of the most affordable options on the market, so it’s a no-brainer if you’re on a budget. Tata Harper Resurfacing BHA Glow MaskThis isn’t your average facial mask - it’s designed to give your skin an overhaul for a nice smooth look. It’s completely natural with no artificial additives, but you shouldn’t doubt the power of these ingredients for a second. The main ingredient here is white willow bark extract, which contains natural BHA and acts as a deep chemical exfoliant. Pomegranate enzymes further remove the dead skin cells for an even skin tone. A pink clay base absorbs any excess oil and to prevent pores from clogging. Because it’s a mask formula, you can leave this one on a little longer than your average chemical peel solution. This is an excellent option for those days when your skin is feeling a little dull and in need of a pick-me-up. Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel The Dr. Dennis Gross brand makes professional spa treatments feel easy and accessible. They have several different peel products to choose from, so you can select the one that best fits your skin type. The Alpha Beta peel is popular because it works well with different skin types and is easy to apply. It contains glycolic, salicylic, and lactic acids as well as retinol, reservatrol, and other anti-aging ingredients. This two step system uses pads for easy application. The first step exfoliates, removing dead skin and dirt from your pores. The second step delivers nourishing ingredients to leave your skin looking bright and beautiful.First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance AHA Intensive PeelThis peel has become a holy grail product for many skincare lovers because of its ability to improve skin texture while also reducing signs of aging. It has a clay consistency, and uses both AHAs and BHAs to chemically exfoliate the skin. A powerful mushroom enzyme compound increases the peel’s exfoliating power. Kaolin gives the peel a pleasant clay texture while soothing the skin, while active charcoal helps to manage acne. It also helps your skin better absorb other skincare products you’re using. First Aid Beauty also makes Facial Radiance Pads that deliver the same ingredients in an easy-to-use wipe. You may notice a slight stinging sensation at first, but afterwards your skin will feel soft and smooth.Elemis Papaya Enzyme PeelIf you want to try something different from the traditional AHA peel, this product from Elemis is a great option. It uses potent enzymes from papaya and pineapple that make it virtually impossible for dead skin cells to hang on to your face. These enzymes are gentle, making this peel a great choice for those with sensitive skin. This product also contains milk protein, marine algae, and vitamin E, all of which work to moisturize your skin and keep it feeling soft and supple. Savor Beauty Illuminate Pumpkin Enzyme PeelThis peel has a delicious pumpkin scent and some seriously strong exfoliating ingredients to get your skin in great shape. Pumpkin extract pairs with lactic acid to act as a natural exfoliant, which leaves the skin feeling smooth and looking brighter. Gluconic acid helps to treat the signs of aging, leaving your skin looking plumper and more supple. Aloe vera moisturizes and soothes the skin, preventing any irritation. It only takes a few minutes to work its magic, making it a great choice for busy beauty mavens. Like many of the products on this list, it’s vegan and cruelty-free, so you can use it without any guilt. Tips For Using At-Home Chemical PeelsSince chemical peels use strong ingredients, it’s important to be very careful while using them. You should always do a patch test with at-home chemical peels on the inside of your arm. Let the patch test sit for two days before using the product on your face, just to make sure there’s no reaction. Start by leaving the peel on for a short amount of time, and work your way up to a maximum amount of time recommended on the bottle. You should also be careful not to overdo it with at-home chemical peels - once or twice a month is often enough to produce results. Never use a chemical peel more than once a week. An at-home chemical peel is a great way to revitalize your skin when you don’t have time to make it to the spa. These intense treatments leave your skin looking glowy, youthful, and even. Just a few applications each month can dramatically improve the quality of your skin. I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
I just tried OLAPLEX Nº 0 & Nº 3 🤷🏻‍♀️
☁️This 2-part treatment system takes 20+ minutes. You do it on dry hair before you shampoo & condition. First you saturate your hair with Nº 0, wait 10 minutes, don’t rinse, then add Nº 3 & leave on for an additional 10+ minutes. Nº 3 can be used alone, but Nº 0 is meant to be used only as a precursor for Nº 3. I originally bought this for my bf’s heavily damaged hair, but he’s so lazy about using anything😑 So finally we made it happen. My hair isn’t currently damaged from bleach like it used to be, however, because I have a neurological disease, some days I’m in so much pain, tossing & turning in bed all day, I pull my hoodie over my head & use a heating pad on it. Days like this my thick hair becomes a wreck. Swipe for photos. I definitely get a lot of breakage around my hairline, I’m so over it lol, I’ve got silk pillowcases coming in the mail💤💌 I picked a “bad hair day” like this from the other day after my flareup calmed down to try this 2-part treatment system for you guys. I’m aware that no hair treatment can make a strand of hair full length again once it’s snapped short... I was more curious to see what this treatment could do for my bf’s hair. He washes it waaay too much because he thinks it’s dirty due to his job, which gives his hair tons of sun damage. I was mortified when he told me he washes it twice a day! Don’t do this! It strips away your natural oils! His hair is so brittle & dry! OLAPLEX - No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Kit $28/5.2 of Nº 0 + 1 oz of Nº 3 Everyone seems to be raving about Olaplex products, so I had my hopes set pretty high. This may be an unpopular opinion, but this treatment didn’t impress me much. I have to use sooo much product for my hair & it’s only shoulder length. My hair is extremely thick, I’m no stranger to using extra product, but this was a little ridiculous. I used almost the entire full size Nº 0 & every last drop of the sample size Nº 3. The amount I used on my bf was quite little. His hair is very thin & only like 4-5” long. OLAPLEX - No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment $28/5.2 oz He thought I was using a lot, because the nozzle dispenses so slowly (which is good I guess because the consistency is like water) but the level only went down about a half inch. Not really any scent. I found it so time consuming to do this step myself. The applicator made me feel like I was in highschool using box dye. I actually transferred it to an empty (& clean) Briogeo spray bottle because I was so frustrated. It dispensed it a lot faster, but still be very careful. I had a cut on finger & it burned really bad, so don’t get it in your eyes! OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector $28/3.3 oz Similar to typical hair conditioner in texture/consistency/scent-easy to apply. THE RESULTS: His hair: still fried This just wouldn’t be feasible for my hair considering I emptied a $28 bottle for 1 use. Hair was soft after nothin special.
🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
Happy Saturday Cherie Sisters 👯‍♀️ 💕 I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I have been loving cool toned eyeshadows lately. I think they are the perfect tones to wear during fall and winter time so I purchased my first Natasha Denona product and got the glam palette. I fell in love with the color story and can see myself reaching for this palette often. So far the eyeshadows feel so luxurious. They are pigmented and I can do a look with just one dip. They blend themselves too so doing a look isn’t too time consuming. NATASHA DENONA - Glam Eyeshadow Palette When I saw that Colourpop announced their That’s Taupe collection, I knew I had to get the eye palette because it looked very similar to my glam palette. I wanted to do a comparison so you guys can decide if you need to spend $65 for the Natasha Denona one. So far these are up to par with Colourpop quality. The eyeshadows are pigmented and they included a couple super shock formula on the palette. These are great quality for the price. #Colourpop - That’s Taupe[products]#[FiveStars] So the Colourpop palette isn’t a complete dupe to the ND one, but there are some shades that are really similar to each other. Once blended on the eye, you can hardly tell the difference. The only difference between the two is the quality. The ND palette was pigmented after one dip and blended quickly. I had to dip 3-4x in the CP pan to match the pigmentation for the ND one. It also took time blending it out. Overall, the end results are the same, but it took half the time to work with the ND palette because it was much easier to work with. If cool-toned eyeshadows aren’t you your alley, but still want it on your collection, I say stick with CP. also if you don’t mind spending the extra time building up the color and blending then save the $51 difference. If you are someone who is looking for quality then definitely go for the glam palette. This will save you time and you won’t use as much product because it’s so pigmented. Do you prefer cool tones or warm tones? Xoxo, Francesca 💋

RENTINOIDs: the BEST super ingredient
RENTINOIDs: the BEST super ingredient
🌸 note: two of the products in my picture are prescription only, high grade retinoids. but i have tagged their drug store dupes that are the SAME product with a lower concentration 🌸 WHAT IS A RETINOL? in the most basic form, a retinoid is a form of VITAMIN A which encourages skin cells to break down and turn over faster, resulting in reduction of acne, wrinkles, dark spots and signs of aging. It promotes collagen production, unclogs pores, and reduces scarring. its actually thickens skin, preventing wrinkles from forming ☀️☀️ALWAYS USE AN SPF WITH RETINOIDS☀️☀️ because your skin cells are dying and regenerating so quickly, you are much more prone to sunburns. And we know sunburns are literally life-threatening they vary HIGHLY in strength (weak to strong list) - retinoid esters: The weakest version of a retinoid, but is good for sensitive skin, surface level retinol: found in a variety of products, works on the cellular level of skin - adapalene (differin): Used to be prescription only but can now be found in a low-dose age in most drug stores. penetrates deeper and slows the production of sebum with faster cell turnover - retinoic acid (Retin-A/tretinoin): works deeper in the skin, can produce overnight results in the form of dead skin peeling. Very advanced skin cell turnover, as it penetrates and stimulates cell death and production. Skin can become very sensitive, irritated , and red - isotretinoin (Accutane): essentially sebum production is very limited and skin cell turnover is dramatically increased. on ingestible medication that will make your skin peel, dry out, and really kill acne. It’s prescription only but very effective. 🌸 products i use! prescription only: ADAPALENE 0.3% dupe: DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel ADAPALENE is the primary form of retinol in this product. this has been my go to product for years, it makes me less sun sensitive then Retin-A 0.05%, while still giving me excellent skin cell turnover and anti aging benefits. It helped my skin go from absolute shiz to a much cleaner glowing face (see 4th pic) prescription only: RETIN-A 0.05% dupe: janssen - Retino-A 0.05% Tretinoin Cream TRETENOIN is the primary form of retinoid in this product. these two may actually be the same product, but the one that I have I know is usually prescription grade. it will make your skin peel overnight, so I use it as a spot treatment if I get any deep set nodular acne. i used this for a couple years but it made me really sun sensitive, it is very strong! luxury brand: SUNDAY RILEY - A+ High-Dose Retinol Serum RETINOL ESTER and CoQ10 are the primary forms of retinal in this product. this claims to have a 6.5% blend of stabilize retinoids and botanical retinoid alternative extracts. I think that it is incredibly overpriced for what it is. There are very similar dupes such as those from the inkey list and the ordinary
To shave, or not to shave?
To shave, or not to shave?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the question, “Will my hair grow back thicker?” When discussing shaving ones face, or even just body hair in general, so I decided to make this post. Just a little preamble here.. I myself have facial hair. No, I do not have PCOS, I’m just a hairy lady 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I’ve learned how to accept it over the years because trust me when I tell you it was a self-esteem battle! I’ve tried every single hair removal product and method out there, and I always go back to what’s tried and true; shaving. But more importantly, I’ve done lots of research and spoken to my dermatologist about this myth as well, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a pile of 💩 With a little help from Dr. Kristeen Cherney who wrote, Shaving Does Not Affect the Thickness or Rate of Hair Growth for Healthline, I’d like to break down some myths. MYTH #1: hair will grow differently when shaved and even be more coarse So this is actually half true and here’s why. As Dr. Cherney puts it, “Unshaven hair has a finer, blunter tip,” so when your hair grows back from shaving, you’ll end up seeing the coarser base as opposed to the “softer, thinner part that will eventually grow back,” if, of course, you let it! MYTH #2: hair grows back darker The new hair may be more thick, but it’s not because of shaving. Remember, this hair hasn’t yet been exposed to the elements or soaps or even chemicals that we use on the daily, which if you didn’t know, actually lightens the hair. MYTH #3 (the best for last): hair will grow back thicker when shaved, especially on the face Let’s break down how our hair grows so you can get a better understanding of why this statement is false. According to Dr. Cherney, “It takes about 1 month for body hair to reach its full length. This is why body hair is more shorter than the hair on our heads.” If you look at the image above, you can get a better understanding of the hair follicle, which is where our hair starts. One photo shows a blade ready to glide over top of the dead hair on the surface of the skin and the second photo shows what it looks like after. As you can see, all shaving did was, and for a lack of a better word, trim the hair! It didn’t actually get rid of the entire hair from the hair follicle. So to conclude with the words of Dr. Cherney, “Since shaving doesn’t remove hair under the skin like other hair removal methods do, it’s impossible for you to affect its colour, thickness or rate of growth.” There ya have it. So it’s safe to say, go ahead and shave! Don’t let a silly myth stop you. Just make sure you do it properly so that you don’t damage that beautiful skin 😌
