The Most Underrated Skincare Products of 2019, According To Cherie UsersWe asked, and you answered! Here are the products that deserved more shine in 2019.
2019 was chock-full of new skincare products and trends, some of which lived up to the hype, and some of which didn't get the hype they deserved! Between the rise of CBD and the fall of charcoal masks, there were some skincare gems that didn't make it into the spotlight—until now! Read on to see which skincare products, brands, and rituals deserved more buzz than they got. 1) Everything BiossanceBiossance is a purveyor of clean beauty, best known for their sugar-cane derived squalane oil. This year alone, they launched a handful of new products including the Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil, the Squalane + Rose Vegan Lip Balm, and the Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream. On top of that, they started a clean beauty education initiative called the Clean Academy with Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness to help educated the public on clean beauty standards! Talk about deserving the limelight!
"This hydrating eye cream with Marine Algae Complex is my favorite. I love the texture of this eye cream it absorbs well not greasy. My skin under eyes feels hydrated for a long time. I will definitely recommend this amazing eye cream to everyone. I’m very impressed with this lightweight serum. I’ve been using this daily morning and night and will continue to use this. I love how my face feels so much softer and smoother. "2) CeraVe MoisturizerCeraVe is a tried and true classic that constantly gets overlooked! At some point in your life, CeraVe was probably recommended to you by a friend or a dermatologist, and for good reason. CeraVe the brand was created by dermatologists and utilizes essential ceramides, fatty acids, and other lipids to help the skin repair itself, layer by layer. It's great for all skin types and has received the most Seal of Acceptance awards from the National Eczema Association than any other brand.
"I decided to try this because I was a fan of CeraVe’s other face washes and I heard good things about this one. I’ve gone through probably 5 bottles of this! I can say that it immediately became a staple in my collection! With the addition of ceramides, it is moisturizing enough for my skin yet does not make me oily which is very important for me. It layers beautifully with other products and I’ve never had a problem with it pilling. I’ll probably never go to another daily moisturizer just because I know I can trust this! Plus it’s fragrance free making it amazing for sensitive skin."3) The Inkey ListThe Inkey List is a newer brand that was founded on the premise of making beauty easier. All that ingredient jargon and marketing promises can make it hard to decide what to really get, but The Inkey List wants to cut through all of that and make it easier for consumers through transparency and education of ingredients.
"This mask leaves my face refreshed. I love that cold, minty feeling. The texture is a typical moist clay texture. It does not dry hard and is white in color. I love this mask. I would recommended it for deep pore cleansing. "4) Volition Apple Cider Vinegar Peel PadsIf you haven't heard about Volition Beauty, now is a great time to get familiar. Volition is a crowd-sourced clean beauty brand that works with it's customers to create new products. Cool, right?! It starts off by a customer sending in an innovative idea, then, Volition builds out the formula, and then anyone can weigh in and vote on which product they want to come to life! The winning product gets made and sold on their website and other retailers.
I love this product, because it has great ingredients, including acv, lemon and orange extracts(fruit ahas), Witch Hazel(removes dirt and oil, minimizes pores), and glycolic acid(aha). Super clean ingredients! While the smell may be a bit strong(it's vinegar, what did you expect), it doesn't linger at all!

Viral Celeb Luxury Colorwash 🌺
Have you ever wanted to try out a fun hair color but was too timid of the upkeep or maybe your workplace wouldn’t allow it?? OR If you already have fun colored hair, do you hate how fast it washes out???? * I do!* Then you TOTALLY need to try the Viral Celeb Luxury Colorwash! 🌈🌈🌈 This COLORFUL shampoo is meant to add in or refresh any unicorn 🦄, mermaid🧜🏼♀️, galaxy🪐 hair your heart desires! With one wash you will see color in your hair! I use it about once a week or if I know I’m going to be doing pictures (or going out when we were able to lol) ⭐️This is a SEMI PERMANENT hair color, meaning it will stain the cuticle (or outside layer) AND partially enter into the cortex (second layer) of the hair! Since it is a semi permanent color, it washes out very fast but DEPENDING on the color of your current hair and what color shampoo you choose, will impact the results of the final look! ⭐️ 💛If you have blonde hair, it will be more true to color and the pastel colors are for you! 🤎If you have light brown or red hair, the medium to darker colors will work for you! 🖤Dark brown or black hair, it could potentially change your hair color but only slightly! ‼️IMPORTANT THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO USE LIGHTEN OR BLEACH HAIR AT HOME! PLEASE WAIT FOR A PROFESSIONAL TO BLEACH YOUR HAIR‼️ I have been using this product for over 5 years and personally have tried almost every color they sell! These are my two go to colors!!! The pastel pink is so fun to have and lasts ALOT longer than you might expect! The Lavender is great but sometimes appears to turn out blue or more of what I like to call blurple! I love to mix them together in my hair, or split my hair in half for a Harley Quinn effect! The options are endless!! BE CREATIVE, HAVE FUN & REMEMBER ITS JUST HAIR! 🤍 So if you are currently at home on quarantine, this is such a fun way to spice up your hair without hurting it in any way! If you have any questions on what color to buy, comment below and I would love to help you choose the best for your hair color! ❤️❤️ #cheriecreator #hairstyist #colorfulhair #unicorn
4 VITAMIN C FAVES 💕 Mini Reviews
Vit C should be the most commonly purchased skincare serum. There are so many reasons why a Vitamin C serum is important to use and it's basically a cure-all beauty product. Most serums help with sun damage, fine lines, acne scars, under eye bags, free-radicals and antioxidants. These are the 4 serums I own and love! I wanted to make a post about each of these in case you need help finding the right one. I received @thrivecausemetics Liquid Light Therapy as PR in April (I believe). I can not obsess enough over it. This one is 100% my favorite one I've tried, there is just something about the texture and consistency that feels so good ($59). I love this because it brightens the skin with red and blue light therapy to stimulate collage production and dramatically reduce wrinkles and reveal clear skin @summerfridays CC Me ($64) is next up on my list of faves. This one is also formulated with squalane to boost hydration while sealing in moisture and a peptide complex to help improve with elasticity and firmness. I find that this serum as well as the next one I am going to talk about are really good at brightening dull skin or if you have a lot of hyperpigmentation and use these twice a day, I do find that it truly helps combat it. I love @farmacybeauty lately! I am obsessed. I had a sample of the Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum and once I finished I was really reaching for more, so I caved and purchased a full size ($62) I find this one to be an interesting formula because it has 4 forms of Vitamin C. They use Acerola Cherry Extract which is one of the richest sources of NATURAL vitamin C to known to reduce signs of aging. If we want to talk about funky formulas, nothing could beat @volitionbeauty Strawberry-C Serum ($42). This formula is powered by Strawberry Fruit & Seed Extract to help brighten dull skin as well as unclogging pores and remove excess oil. This was the first full sized Vitamin C I purchased, mainly because of the reviews and the price! Although I no longer reach for this one as much, I do find if you want a great started serum or you aren't looking to spend a lot - this one does the job!
The Do’s and Don’ts for Oily, Acne Prone Skin
Knowing your skin type and skin condition is the first step to treating it. I personally have dehydrated yet oily acne prone skin. The right type of products in a routine can make a huge difference. *Disclaimer: I love all the products above except the Clinique toner (Dont use this please). I will explain below why things are good or bad for acne. Step 1: Cleanse Do - Use gel cleanser like the FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser . The gel formula will deep cleanse the face without stripping. Don’t - Use a cream cleanser like the GEORGETTE KLINGER - Green Tea Cream Cleanser . This is more geared towards dry skin. It will cleanse and hydrate but won’t give you the deep cleanse oily/acne prone skin needs. Step 2: Treat Do - Use a product with salicylic acid like PAULA'S CHOICE - SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA LIQUID EXFOLIANT . Salicylic acid is oil soluble and will dive deep into your pores breaking up any sebum or debris. Don’t - Use something with detnatured alcohol like the CLINIQUE - Clarifying Lotion 3 For Combination Oily Skin . It may feel good at first but the alcohol is stripping your skin and does more harm than good. In the end your face will over compensate for the stripping effect and produce more oil. Step 3: Moisturize Do - Use a gel moisturizer like the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream . I love this because it is free of a lot of skin irritants like fragrance and dyes. The gel formula won’t feel too heavy on the skin but will give you all the hydration benefits you need. Don’t- Use a heavy, cream moisturizer like the Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Moisturizer . Heavy creams are more geared for dry skin. For oily skin it will just sit on top potentially clogging pores (plus I do believe this has some comedogenic ingredients). These are basic steps I’ve been using for a while to make my skin routine the best is can be for my skin concern. If you have any questions about any steps or products let me know below. 🖤 /*some products gifted
Mascara for Allergenic and Eczema Prone Skin
I recently started having some health problems and started developing allergic reactions to most mascaras and eye makeup. Basically my eyes would get itchy, eczema breakouts, flake, and my eyelashes would fall out in clumps (I lead a glamorous life, I know). The only mascara I found I could use without issue was Lush’s mascara and I just stuck to that baby until (whomp-whomp) they discontinued it. I think I’ll do a post on my favorite discontinued products later (RIP). I heard some good things about friends about Physician’s Formula and that it’s formulated with sensitive and allergenic skin in mind. I tried this mascara yesterday and wore it a full day full of errands and sweating and it stays on and no allergic reaction!!! Like all more plant-derived mascaras, the formula is more runny and can be quite wet upon application but their brush really helps keep the lashes from sticking together. If you’re going to compare this to some other mascaras on the market (like They’re Real!, Better Than Sex, etc.) you’ll probably not be happy with these aspects of the formula BUT if you’re like me and haven’t even wore mascara for over six months due to severe allergic reactions and eczema flares this is a damn lifesaver. I have very blonde body hair and have missed having visible curled lashes! Love this product! PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Organic Wear Natural Origin Mascara In Black
5 Reasons Why I Love TO’s Niacinamide Serum
I first heard about The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum when I was searching for brightening serums last year. While my combination skin rarely ever breaks out, I do have some dark marks left over from the occasional pimples that I would like to disappear, or at least, improve in appearance. So I ordered TO’s Niacinamide Serum, crossing my fingers and hoping that it’s actually effective. It’s been almost a whole year later and I’m already on my third bottle of this serum. I have to say, I love it more and more as time goes by! Here are the 5 reasons why. 1. It lightens up my dark spots. It’s not a very dramatic change, mind you, but it does lighten my dark spots quite noticeably. I guess I’ll have to use a few more bottles of this serum if I want to completely lighten them. 2. It smoothens my skin’s texture. I can't believe just how nice it is to glide your fingers over your skin and not feel any bumps! 3. It provides much-needed moisture. My skin never feels dry when I have this serum on. I think it’s successful in locking in the moisture from my essence, too. 4. It doesn’t make my skin oily. Even though it moisturizes my skin, it doesn’t make my face look oily or greasy. This is very important to me because I really like keeping my face matte. 5. It makes me look fresh in the morning. Who doesn’t like seeing that healthy glow on their face when they wake up in the morning? Definitely not me! Can you guess what my overall rating is? 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses! I really enjoy using this product and I think I’ll keep using it for the future, at least until I find a worthy replacement. Hopefully not, though! If you have some dark spots and you’re having a hard time reducing their appearance, you may want to try out The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum! You can get it for only $5.90 on the Cherie website! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Have you tried this product before? Loved it, hated it? Let me know in the comments!
