We are always chasing a flawless makeup look, Cherie's editors are no exception. A product should be added as a part of your skincare routine: it can prevent endless touch-ups and smooth out those pesky flaws. Yeah, primer is worth to note and talk about. Using a right primer is a critical step in getting our makeup to perform the way it should be. If you're a makeup junkie like us, you know that there are various primers out there who are claiming to be the masters of covering up large pores, preventing smudged eye makeup, or fixing other complexion problems. To verify whether they really work, we specially purchased these popular word-of-mouth primers and put them through the gauntlet! 12-Hour Shine Control / 16-Hour Wear As the shine control member of the Too Faced PEACH Makeup line, this primer is packed in a cute pink tube and is said to be a superstar.FIRST IMPRESSION: * Texture and Color: Creamy but not thick, pinky-beige color * Smell: Peachy but a bit artificial * Sensation: Cooling * Finished Look: Matte skin without dryness HOW DID WE TEST IT: * Step 1: Added one pump of Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Perfecting Primer on the left part of the test area, meanwhile kept the right side without application. * Step 2: Then, we applied a layer of Jasmine body oil from Herbivore on the whole test area to simulate an extremely oily skin condition. RESULT: After waiting for around 10 minutes, we covered the test area with two blotting papers. The left blotting paper appeared to be less oily than the right oily patch. RATING: 4 Stars (Well done, Too Faced!)

Blurs Aways Pores and Imperfects with Layers of SilkA best-seller at Sephora, it claims to 'diminish the look of pores, fines lines, and imperfections.'FIRST IMPRESSION: Texture and Color: Balmy with a pink tone Smell: A fresh floral scent Sensation: Thick but absorbs in minutes Finished Look: Nourished and glowing skin HOW DID WE TEST IT: * Step 1: Yeah, we know those two wooden sticks seem a bit odd, but this was our way of imitating uneven skin accurately! The surface of the wood mimics the ventilation, absorption, lines, and imperfections of textured skin. * Step 2: We applied a layer of primer on the left wooden stick and kept the right one clean, then we put foundation on both sticks. RESULT: The test results surprised us! Not only did it help with the texture problems, but Silk Canvas Protective Primer also helped bring out the makeup’s pigmentation! RATING: 5 Stars (The hype is real, approved!)

RESULT: On the area with bare skin, we got a reading of 11% moisture on the skin detector, while the area with primer had a much higher moisture level, a whopping 19%! RATING: 4.5 Stars (Congratulations Hydro Grip Primer, you proved yourself!)

Conceal Redness EffortlesslyIt’s said to conceal redness, and repel water, so your foundation lasts longer. Such a big-name brand should stand up to the challenge. As one of the OG primer products, we challenged Hourglass to our no-filter test.FIRST IMPRESSION: Texture and Color: White fluid texture Smell: A light mineral scent Sensation: Thin and smooth, but a bit of a silicon feel Finished Look: Matte and even-textured HOW DID WE TEST IT: * Step 1: Unfortunately for our colleague, and much to our delight, she had broken out with spots that day and had visible red spots that needed concealing. Just in time to put this primer to the test! * Step 2: Applied primer to the areas with redness. RESULT: The redness and visibility of acne improved significantly, giving Cherie’s skin a brightening effect. However, the luminous effect did bring out some white casting, which isn’t ideal for those with a darker skin tone. RATING: 3.5 Stars (Helpful to some, harmful to others!)

This Urban Decay Primer claims to help you 'stay vibrant and crease-free,' a limited-edition Honey Eyeshadow Primer Potion Ornament from Urban Decay, this holiday exclusive looked right up our alley!FIRST IMPRESSION: Texture and Color: Gold-toned liquid with glitters Smell: Odorless Sensation: Weightless on skin Finished Look: Glittery, matte finish HOW DID WE TEST IT: * Step 1: To test the full power of this primer, we chose a very pigmented Tom Ford eyeshadow, shade 26, to get a good sense of staying power. * Step 2: We layered the Urban Decay Honey Eyeshadow Primer on the left part of the test area and kept the right test area naked. * Step 3: We applied the same amount of eyeshadow on both sides and observed the difference in pigmentation. * Step 4: Scrubbed both test areas to see how the primer would work to keep its long-lasting effect. RESULT: The area with primer obviously worked better, bringing out exceptionally clearer pigmentation, especially when the shadows had glitter and shimmer or when it was a darker shade. The long-lasting effect also impressed us! RATING: 5 Stars (Magical formula! In Urban Decay, we trust!)

Emergency beauty treatments ✅ Hydrating ✅ Nourishing ✅ Soothing ✅ Replenishing These masks rescue our fatigued and sensitised skin by stress and external stressors LANEIGE - Water Sleeping Mask light weight 💦- it’s GLORIOUS ( I use this under my make up as moisturiser during winter months). It spreads and absorbs beautifully on skin lovely smell (‼️ fragrance in skincare can be irritating to some of you sweeties should you have eczema or history of allergic reactions to perfumes/deodorants) 💡 I use this mask twice every week as the last step after moisturiser during winter. In a warm weather, I apply this once weekly as mask or sometimes as my primary moisturiser. I refrigerate it as well - upon application, it bursts into a refreshing surge of cooling soothing hydration Kiehl's - Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask heavier and slightly sticky texture, compared to the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, but still lightweight. It has a translucent yellowish gel like consistency delicate fresh herbal smell 💡I use this mask not as often I do Laneige, mostly after exfoliating or waxing my skin, or when my skin just feels blahhh 🙄 and dull. I keep this lovely sweetie in the fridge as well. Kiehl's - Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Mask smooth creamy pistachio-coloured paste, a tad heaiver than a typical facial cream texture delightful smell - minty orange scent 💡I use this mask every two weeks or so, as an overnight mask, to renew my unhealthy looking skin due to environmental aggressors. In a typical routine when I include this mask, I skip my mmoisturiser, and active serum; and apply this mask after toner. I use this mask more often during summer, to regulate my oily T-zone.
How I got rid of my 🍊 hair at home
How I got rid of my 🍊 hair at home
3 months after my dreadful hair bleach & colouring job, I finally had the courage to dye my hair at H-O-M-E again (I swore not to do this to myself ever again, 3 months ago !!!!) I used two boxes of L'ORÉAL - Excellence Triple Protection Permanent Hair Color As shown in my ‘before’ photos, my hair (unwashed for 1 week) looked rather dry and brassy. Long story short- I had my hair bleached and dyed at home, by my partner who never did this before. I didn’t buy enough bleach so my hair turned out patchy, dry and just....unpleasant to look at. I decided to recolour my hair with an ash tone, hoping to get rid of the orange/yellow tone in my hair - which as shown in the after photos - I think I achieved my goal. Though some is still there, I admit. 💡My hair: Long - about shoulder blades Thick - see the 2nd note in the application‼️ Processed - bleach, coloring and heating etc. But not damaged, just the end is rather dry. Overall healthy. My hair has also grown about 3cm - so the root was virgin hair. 💡 Application tips onto hair unwashed for 1 week, rather oily...hmmm 😬. I didn’t apply any additional divided into 6 sections because of my hair thickness. You might just need to section your hair into 4 quarters - Google this, there are instructional photos (easy as 🥧) rinse with luke warm water 💦 💡Results As shown in the photos 🥰 Soft and very easy to comb, thanks to the shampoo and conditioner that came with the hair dye Satisfied overall

EXFOLIATING ACIDS & How Not To Overdo It!!!👀✨💖
EXFOLIATING ACIDS & How Not To Overdo It!!!👀✨💖
Exfoliating acids are everywhere now and so many new products are about exfoliating the skin to “reveal brighter, smoother skin”. In the age of exfoliating now, it’s so easy to overdo and can easily result in harming the skin instead. Here are my favorite exfoliating acids (and products) and how I use it so I don’t damage my skin! Lactic Acid: A super gentle acid that exfoliates the top layer of skin and removes dead skin cells. I find this to be the most gentle of the acids and can be used everyday. I love fresh - Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence because I use it as an essence treatment. This is a liquid formula that easily sinks into the skin and “primes” the skin for the next products. It’s also a hydrating formula! Azelaic Acid: Another more gentle exfoliating acid that helps improve the appearance of blemishes and fade post-acne marks. I love this PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster because it can be mixed into your moisturizer and boost the effectiveness. I love that this speeds up the healing process of my acne marks because then I get clearer skin quicker! Salicylic Acid: One of the most effective exfoliating acids for treating and preventing acne! It exfoliates deep into the layers of skin and removes dead skin cells. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator is a super strong and effective formula that I like to use when I’m breaking out A LOT. It’s too harsh on my skin to use daily but once a week is fine. I also love LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin which I use every night to wash my face. It’s just as effective and not too strong for daily use because it’s a wash off product and doesn’t stay on the skin. Glycolic Acid: Easily one of the strongest and deeply exfoliating acids out there. I find it super effective as a night serum like DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum or as a scrub like ALPHA-H - Micro Super Scrub with 12% Glycolic Acid . I use these products 2 times a week just to keep my skin free of congestion and to maintain the texture of my skin.
Halloween Ideas: Bratz (yes again) Part 3 💋🎃
Halloween Ideas: Bratz (yes again) Part 3 💋🎃
Can you tell that I’m obsessed with Bratz tehee This look is simpler than the other I had posted before this so I wanted to put this here for those who are looking for an easier way! This is technically a cut crease still but there’s only one color for the base! I used Take Me Back To Brazil for the vibrant blue color!! I like to put eyeshadow primer on a flat brush to cut my crease or you can use concealer if you want! I think concealer is def easier cuz the consistency is a lot smoother!! For the eyeliner, I used the NYX Epic Ink liner to do my regular eyeliner! I did add an extended part into my crease to really give that dramatic effect aka Bratz style 💁🏻‍♀️ #CheriePartner
