Chicken Skin Be Gone!
For years I have struggled with “chicken skin” on my upper arms and chest. There were times that it was so bad that I was bullied and called a “chicken” both for my chicken-like skin and my acne (my acne resembled chicken pox at times). After a while I came to accept it as part of my skin. Until recently! These pictures were taken approximately five weeks apart. As you can see in the top corners of the first picture I had notiecabld discoloration and bumps (“chicken skin”). It is still not completely gone but overall my skin has gotten much better and the bumps have faded significantly. If you have this and are wondering what this is it is called Keratosis Pilaris. Keratosis pilaris is a common, harmless skin condition that causes small, hard bumps that may make your skin feel like sandpaper. You may have heard it called “chicken skin.” The bumps are often light-colored. They usually appear on your upper arms, thighs, and buttocks, sometimes with redness or swelling. It’s appearance can be reduced by using chemically exfoliating products that contain ingredients such as salicylic acid. I have sensitive skin so I wanted my routine to be fairly simple and contain minimal products. Every day that I showered I began with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash on my arms. Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash I chose this because it’s a product I have used before and it didn’t contain a harsh percentage of Salicylic acid. After I showered and toweled off I used the Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy skin lotion. GOLD BOND - Rough & Bumpy Skin Once a week I used The Ordinary Peeling Solution for nine minutes before applying the Gold Bond lotion. It’s important to make sure you have thoroughly washed off the Neutrogena face wash because if you did not then the Ordinary Peeling Face Mask with form a weird lather and can potentially irritate your skin. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution It was definitely a lot of work to do this on top of my acne routine as well and I didn’t see overnight results but overall I would say it was totally worth it! Pro tip: if you have chicken skin make sure you MOISTURIZE! A common cause of chicken skin is dry skin.

🌙 Goodbye Chestne & Backne 🌙
The one thing I hate about the summer months, especially when you have very humid weather, is the fact that sweat, oil, and bacteria often lead to body acne. Unfortunately for me I have extremely reactive skin. So even one pimple on my chest or back is like a red beacon that can be seen from outer space. However, while researching body moisturizers to help ease folliculitis on my legs I found a secret weapon that has completely erased my body acne, so let’s talk about it! 🌙🌙🌙🌙 GOLD BOND - Rough & Bumpy Skin is a highly moisturizing unscented cream with several active ingredients that help unclog pores, exfoliate, and speed up cell turnover. It contains a nice blend of AHA, BHA, and PHA chemical exfoliants. Since the formula is thick and super moisturizing and unscented it shouldn’t leave your skin irritated. 🌙🌙🌙🌙 Since the skin on my body is so reactive I was skeptical that this product would be too harsh for me. However, after using this for two months applying it every night to my chest and back I’ve seen a dramatic improvement in dark spots and occurrence of acne blemishes. For the first time in many years my back and chest is completely clear (to note my body acne has always been VERY mild, but annoying nonetheless). As for the folliculitis on my legs, I still get stubborn clogged pores but no where near as bad as it used to be. Quick word of warning for all you sensitive skinned humans, don’t apply this after shaving, it burns! The only downside I have encountered is that it can make your skin peel which I guess is a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you want to look at it. If you apply it at night you shouldn’t have a problem the next day. This is safe to use everyday, but please apply sunscreen if you apply it in the A.M. 🌙🌙🌙🌙 So have you tried this little miracle worker yet? If so what did you think?

Oh the Hydration!
When it says “hydrating,” oh it’s hydrating I tell you! But seriously, I apply this at night, I go to sleep, I wake up in the morning, and my skin is still incredibly soft! My only qualm with this lotion is the fact that it can be a little sticky for a while. GOLD BOND - Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion with Aloe

What does it do? Aloe
Each year, it seems like the beauty industry picks a “key ingredient” to put in hundreds of products so they can give us an excuse as to why they are upcharging us. It’s been collagen, snail mucin, tea tree oil, hyaluronic acid, CBD, argan oil, coconut, matcha, manuka honey, niacinamide, vitamin C, etc., to name a few. (Did you know Morroccan Oil is just expensive argan oil?) I think it is a good idea to know why those key ingredients are worth making it into the product name or at the very least on to the label. So aloe ... What does it do for the skin? Aloe is full of vitamins — specifically vitamins A, B , C, D and E as well as minerals like magnesium, potassium and zinc. All of these contribute to the healing properties of aloe vera. It reduces irritation causing by the sun or by things that naturally irritate your skin. Once applied to the irritated area, it can help repair your skin’s damaged barrier. NATURAL ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER: Aloe vera comes in a multitude of forms on the market: decolorized aloe, aloe latex, aloe water and the “sap-like” gel. From “Why Aloe Vera Is Controversial Right Now, According to Experts“ on allure.com: “Non-decolorized, whole-leaf aloe extract contains a chemical called aloin, which has been shown to cause cancer in rats.” BUT it isn’t shown to be dangerous unless it is consumed. (No evidence was shown that is carcinogenic when applied topically.) In the same article, Perry Romanowski, cosmetic chemist and cofounder of The Beauty Brains, said: "Aloe vera is a safe ingredient to use in skin products. But this is a great reminder that just because an ingredient is natural, does not mean that it is automatically safe and effective." Now let’s talk about the two products I decided to highlight: 🚿The OLAY - Mist Ultimate Hydration Essence Cooling Face Spray comes in a pretty soft plastic bottle. It has aloe leaf, chamomile and vitamin B3 to hydrate and calm “dry and tight skin.” You can apply it before moisturizer and after makeup to set and refresh your skin, as needed. When you spray, hold to 5-10 inches from your face. (Contains niacinamide and glycerin.) MY THOUGHTS: This is one of the products that I put under “YouTube made me buy it.” I first saw this mist on Jackie Aina’s channel and I swiped two different types up. I would not repurchase this product. It is unnecessarily fragranced with a floral-like scent that some people may love. I love in the camp of “fragrance is for perfume not for skin care.” Also, the cap DOES NOT want to stay on the bottle. It comes off so easily. Recommend? No. 🧴GOLD BOND - Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion with Aloe has seven moisturizers and three vitamins to “reveal nourished skin” a deliver 24-hour hydration. MY THOUGHTS: I LOVE THIS LOTION. I’ve used it for more than a year. It hydrates so well. It is my go-to moisturizer to toss in my luggage. It is thick, but absorbs well into the skin. Recommend? YES!

A life “savior” for dry skin and eczema
I have Perioral Dermatitis, which is just an extreme case of eczema, and anything can inflame it. THIS PRODUCT has been the only thing that has really caused it to not only calm it but go away simultaneously. This passed week I put an oil on my face that I knew I was allergic to yet still had the audacity to put it on. My eyes swelled up and my face was filled with allergic red spots. I have only been consistently washing my face with Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser which I luuuvvvvv, and moisturizing with GOLD BOND - Eczema Relief Lotion for the past week and it’s almost gone. Recommendation: I would highly, highly recommended this product to people who are prone to allergic reactions, sensitive or dry skin, or if you have eczema. This product has changed the game for me in so many ways. I’ve bought prescriptions medications specifically for my perioral dermatitis, but nothing compares to the work this has done for my face and skin. *This also may sting a little or to an extent depending on how severe your case is, for me it stung A LOT because my case was really severe and it goes away after 5 minutes but I didn’t mind. As of now it only stings a lil bit because it has reduced significantly.* Rating: GOLD BOND - Eczema Relief Lotion It’s rare that I ever give anything a five star approval because nothing really meets my expectations in the sense of really being life changing for me. At first I didn’t really like this product because I wasn’t washing my face the right way, I left a lot of dirt and residue to pick up with the moisturizer, but now it will always be found in my cabinet. I love this stuff and will forever recommend this to anyone who suffers with the symptoms I’m suffering from. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask, much love, much peace🤎

IF YOU HAVE ECZEMA YOU HAVE TO READ THIS!!!
I have struggled with eczema all of my life. Fortunately, when I was little it wasn’t too bad, but the past couple of years it’s been a different story. My eczema was mainly around my forearm and it was BAD. I had so many bloody scabs and scars on my arm. I was so insecure I only wore long sleeves to cover it up. I can totally relate to all of you guys who have bad eczema too. But, I have found one product that cured ALL my eczema with in 1 month! It is called the Kamedis Dermatology Eczema Therapy Cream. I am so so so happy that my dad found this product for me. I tried all of the products in the picture and more, but none worked except this one. It is very affordable and so much better for you than products like hydrocortisone. I definitely recommend this product to everyone who has eczema. But keep in mind that everyone is different and this could not work for you. Please make sure to cheer this post of you like it!

How I do my nailcare/paint my nails!
I have recently fell in love with nail polish and nail care! I look forward to doing my nails every week. I was a nail biter all my life until this year. I am always focused on strengthening my nails. I’ve been loving Essie’s gel couture line! This nail look is a shimmery champagne color—“Last Nightie” First I always start by doing my cuticles. I never realized how important taking care of your cuticles is and the benefit it does to your overall nail health. I remove my cuticles/push them back once a week using BLUE CROSS - Cuticle Remover This makes removing the cuticles SO easy. Within a few seconds they basically soften up/dissolve so they are easily pushed around the sides of the nail and top of the nail. I use a metal cuticle pusher but I make sure to be extremely gentle when using this! (I got mine from amazon) but this is basically the same thing!ULTA BEAUTY - Cuticle Pusher Next, I file my nails to create a shape I want, then I wash my hands. Finally I use GOLD BOND - Ultimate Intensive Healing Hand Cream and PEACH & LILY - Pure Beam Luxe Oil before painting my nails. Now I apply my base coat and recently I’ve been using#Pink Armor - Nail Gel[products]#[FiveStars] I got mine from amazon. It basically acts as a strengthening bond on your nails. This may not be the best option for nail health, but like I have stated. I needed all the help I could get since my nails were SO flimsy and thin at first. I do think this stuff has helped significantly! Finally I apply 2-3 coats of my polish and apply my gel couture top coat! This polish line is SO good. Happy nail care 💅

My Tips to Grow Healthy Nails!
First off, I would like to pay myself on the back. I am 24 years old and have been a nail biter since my childhood. This year I made a New Years resolution to stop biting my nails. Since having short nails from biting my whole life my main objective was to create strength in my nails because they were so thin & flimsy from not ever being grown out before. First thing I did. Started taking biotin! This not only helps strengthen nails, but helps my skin & hair as well. This is a 5,000 mcg dose so it is significant to your daily intake. Always check for dosage and make sure you are consistent! Since I’ve been a nail biter seeing the “white” part of my nail growth is triggering. So when I see it, I want to bite them. For this reason for the first few months I constantly had polish on my nails to help break my obsession with biting. Now that my habit is virtually gone (YAY ME) I take week long breaks in between my polish!! It helps give your nails time to breath and to take the time to give your nails/nail bed some extra nourishment. For nourishing my nails I use GOLD BOND - Ultimate Intensive Healing Hand Cream and LUSH - Lemony Flutter every night before bed. The hand cream is thick but not too thick, it absorbs nicely and doesn’t leave any stickiness or heaviness on the hands. The cuticle butter is VERY rich and thick. A very small amount is needed for each nail/cuticles and I focus/massage it in for a few minutes each night. It has beeswax, Shea butter, and avocado oil in it for growing healthy nails! Remember cuticle care is important! I’ve also been using the PEACH & LILY - Pure Beam Luxe Oil for a cuticle oil each night and throughout the day sometimes to give my cuticles some extra love. This oil has squalane, jojoba, camellia, grapeseed, and sea buckthorn oils. It is surprising easily absorbed! I really love this oil for my cuticles. (I have oily acne prone skin so I don’t typically use face oils very much—so I repurposed and used it for my cuticles instead). If you have been/are a nail biter, you know how hard it is to quit! You just have to get in the right mindset and continue working to break your habit. 👏🏻🤍

Quarantine Glowup: Underarm Edition 🙋🏼‍♀️
Quarantine Glowup: Underarm Edition 🙋🏼‍♀️
A part of our body that we really tend to overlook is our armpits, especially in the wintertime. I have always been so self conscious about my underarms because they have always been dark and bumpy. During this quarantine time that we have, I am using it to get my underarms in shape for summer! The first thing I am doing regularly is using either a physical exfoliant (Frank Body’s Coffee Scrub) or a chemical exfoliant (The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid) on my underarms 2-3 times per week. Both of these are very gentle on the skin, but I still feel like both of them clear out my pores and help reduce the bumps. I am also trying to treat them like the skin on my face and moisturize my underarms EVERY day! I am using Gold Bond’s Rough and Bumpy Skin Lotion. I have used this for KP bumps on my legs for years and it is great for moisturizing and also providing additional exfoliation! Another thing I have started over this time is using a natural deodorant! I sweat a lot and struggle with odor, so this is a big step for me! There has not been a ton of research done on the topic, but I have seen some articles stating that bumpy underarms are sometimes caused by aluminum buildup. So I am switching to Kopari, which is a natural, coconut oil-based deodorant. I figure that the coconut oil will help with moisturizing my underarms as well! I got the original coconut milk scent and I am very pleased with it so far! The smell is pleasant and it feels quite nourishing for my underarms. I haven’t noticed an overwhelming amount of sweating either! I have only been following this routine for about a week now, but I am extremely pleased with all of the products I have used so far and I am excited to see the results in a few weeks!

I’ll be trying out some new products! A review to come in the next few weeks or so! Skin: bliss - Pumpkin Powerhouse Resurfacing & Exfoliating Enzyme Mask Testing this out bc I have terrible dark sports on my cheeks and this has been said to help exfoliate and fade dark spot. PALMER'S - Cocoa Butter Formula, Moisture Rich Night Cream I definitely needed a night cream that was meant for people with darker shaded skin tone. This is supposed to help with dark spots as well. There’s no tag for the Gold Bond dark spot minimizing body cream but i have terrible dark spots on the shoulders, back and chest as well so I’m hoping this will help to fade as well. Hair: TPH— Make it Rain Hydration rich conditioner I have such dry hair that I’ve been wanting to try some products to help with my dry scalp! We’ll see how this works! I’ve bought some other products but I’m debating on taking them back (lol buyers remorse) we’ll see! 🧐

Hand Washing Savior!
If you haven’t been washing your hands more you probably should be...I know chapped hands suck and those of us with inflammatory skin conditions DO NOT do well with all this hand washing. I picked this product up at CVS because my hands were hurting and flaring so bad and I have had amazing non-dry hands since quarantine started! I’d even recommend this to people without eczema right now because of the frequent (necessary) hand washing! GOLD BOND - Eczema Relief Hand Cream

Skin Concerns: Bumpy Skin
Skin Concerns: Bumpy Skin
I have suffered from Keratosis Pilaris (KP) for many years, but I did not know what it was until recently. It is essentially a condition that makes your hair follicles on certain parts of your body get clogged with keratin. Therefore, I constantly have little bumps all over the front and back of my thighs. It is noticeable and causes me to constantly pick at my legs, so I knew I had to find something to combat it! The main thing most people (and my dermatologist) recommend is putting on a lotion that contains leave-on exfoliants that clear your pores of the keratin plugs. I have tried a few over the years, and these are my favorites! For a cost-effective option I would definitely go with the Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy Skin Lotion. It works very well and comes in a huge tub! Now, all of these lotions are pretty thick to apply, but this one is probably the thickest and the one that absorbs the worst. But, it is so much cheaper than the other options so I definitely still recommend it. The other two are a little thinner, but are about 5x more expensive than the Gold Bond (~$50). They both work very well as well! The key with these types of products is to use them consistently. If you just use it once a week it is not going to have the best results, you need to use it over time to see the bumps disappear!
