Spironolactone Journey - Week 1
So after visiting my dermatologist and explaining my acne troubles and all, my derm decided it would be best to put me on Spironolactone for hormonal acne, as well as an azelaic acid, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide mixture. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ So as of lately, my routine HAS changed from my previous post about routines - which, also, if you have seen / read my previous routine post, please please PLEASE be cautious if you want to give it a try, for some people it works wonders, but for me it destroyed my skin. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ With that being said, here is my new routine with my dermatologist: AM: ☀️👄 1.5 tablets of Spironolactone (oral Rx) - same time every morning ☀️ VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser ☀️ Sulfacetamide Sodium lotion (Rx) (pretty sure this is temporary) ☀️ Azelaic acid mixture (with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide) (Rx only) - still waiting for this from the pharmacy...🥺 ☀️ VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream ☀️ KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 OR Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 OR Eucerin - Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 (SPF is a necessity no matter what, but its nice to have options) ——————————————————————————— PM: 🌙 PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control 🌙 Sulfaceamide Sodium lotion (Rx only) 🌙 Azelaic acid mixture (Rx only) 🌙 VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream ——————————————————————————— ⏰ once a week - The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution- I haven’t gotten this yet, but my derm recommended it for the blackheads on my nose and chin, so I’ll give more on this later, being an exfoliating acid I’m sure this would also be good for texture irregularity, but we’ll see what happens. ——————————————————————————— Week 1 final thoughts: I have to admit, openly, I have the horrible habit of picking at my acne (as you can probably tell). Something I have pushed this week though is to spend less time in front a mirror or thinking about it, to prevent picking. I haven’t gotten the azelaic acid mix yet 🥺 ⚠️ I know Spironolactone doesn’t work overnight. It takes about 3 months to really start to show the effects. ——————————————————————————— As an informational piece: Sulfaceamide Sodium is a topical antibiotic which kills skin infections, this works well for acne, kind of like benzoyl peroxide. Azelaic acid, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are all pregnancy safe. 🤰 However, Spironolactone is NOT. 🛑 Check out my other posts about Spironolactone for more info, if you’d like. ——————————————————————————— Since this a new journey for me, I’ll be updating every week or so with my results, so that I can also see the difference in my skin as time goes on (visual documentation for my derm too!) Wish me luck 💙🙏🏻🎃

Week 3 On PanOxyl & Differin
I skipped one week because my face was looking about the same. I have been breaking out a bit on my cheeks and forehead so I hope this purging process ends soon. The PanOxyl also seems to be running out rather quickly so I might substitute it for the PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Controljust so I don’t have too many foaming cleansers in my routine. I hope to see results soon.DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength

Acne? We’ve all been there.
Acne? We’ve all been there.
Hello all! This is my skin care journey. I have always had acne. For as long as I can remember, probably since I was roughly in 5th grade (I am 22 y/o now) and I have always struggled. It always seemed no matter how many products I tried, methods I used, nothing would help. I finally found one product that helped more than others; La Roche Posay Effaclar wash. This product helped me get even SEMI better skin. However, it just didn’t cut it. I finally broke and scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist in the company I work for. We tried antibiotics, creams, gels, prescription face washes, and literally anything you can think of, I have tried at least once. My derm finally got to the point where he decided Accutane would be the best route for me. I completed 5 months of Accutane, and the change in my skin and my confidence in my skin changed MY LIFE. If you struggle with acne like myself, you know the weight acne puts on you, and how it makes you feel absolutely worthless. Acne is a struggle, and it can definitely cause anxiety, and even depression. Finding a product that changes your life is mind blowing. I have been off of Accutane around 7 months now. The oiliness in my skin is starting to pick back up, I can tell my pores aren’t nearly as tiny as they were on Accutane. I’ve even started developing itty bitty zits, and black heads on my chin, nose, and T zone. I reached out to my dermatologist and he recommended a benzoyl peroxide face wash, and differin (adapalene) gel nightly. I’ve been doing this for about a month, and I can already see a difference in my skin AGAIN. Pores are smaller, oiliness is decreased immensely, and LESS ACNE. However, I have an insanely bad habit of picking at my face, and I tend to pick at tiny little things that I can hardly see, and others can’t see at all. Then I cause irritation to my skin, and make something that wasn’t even a problem, a big problem. I’m still working on not picking, but it gets the best of me, as I’m sure it does most of you. I’m always available and willing to help, and answer any questions anyone may have about skin care, and the best products I’ve found along the way that are staples in my routines. Follow me along with my journey. PanOxyl 10% maximum strength review!
PanOxyl 10% maximum strength review!
Dr. Dray, a dermatologist on youtube, recommended PanOxyl as a fairly priced, great face wash. I trusted her recommendation because when she sees a product that is ridiculously expensive or contains unnecessary ingredients, she calls them out. I’m glad I went with her advice because this cleanser works very well for me! This is my review after months of use: This product works wonders on pores and blackheads! After the first wash I could see how much smaller my pores were. I can’t say how well it would work for severe acne, but I can give a decent overview of how it deals with a couple pimples here and there. This wash doesn’t prevent my monthly breakouts, and it doesn’t make my pimples disappear the next day, but it has made my pores smaller and made my face brighter. Make sure to use a good moisturizer though because it can dry out your skin. I use CeraVe moisturizing cream, which Dr. Dray also recommmends. I have always used this cleanser while using other products in my skincare routine, so I’m not sure how it would work by itself. I also use a toner, vitamin c cream, and retinol from the ordinary. If you use multiple products as well please research how they react with each other as some products can cancel each other out if used together!!

LIFE SAVER
LIFE SAVER
Those who struggle with acne, know how ANNOYING it is when a new pimple pops up. I have swore by this product since before Accutane use. That being said, as mentioned in my previous posts I’ve hit, for the first time since stopping accutane, a “breakout.” This product has been a life saver. I apply it every morning to my problem areas, after cleansing my face with micellar water, a tad bit of astringent, and using my Cerave moisturizing cream. I also use it nightly, in those same areas before bed; after washing my face with Panoxyl creamy 4% wash, and using my Cerave cream. I then apply a pimple patch (after using effaclar duo) to any acne bumps that I have. I’d say 80% of the time, the pimple is GONE. If it’s not gone, it’s DEFINITELY decreased in size, and redness. I promise you, this stuff works.
