Halloween Skincare Tips🎃
Halloween is a busier makeup season, even if you’re not going trick or treating, so it’s crucial to cleanse your makeup off properly and nourish your skin afterwards. My focus is proper cleansing, so I would use a 2-step cleansing method. WOODLOT - Nourishing Cleansing Balm to melt even the stubbornest of makeup off. First I let the balm warm up on my face while massaging it in on relatively dry skin. Then as it melts and loosens up the makeup, I use a warm wet cloth to turn it into a milky consistency to remove all of the product and excess oil. This balm is also great in general as it helps soothe irritated skin and massaging it in is a great way to relax and tend to yourself for at least a minute. GRAYDON - Face Foam to wash off any remaining oil from the balm, while at the same time gently exfoliating the dead skin cells with some azelaic acid For the moisturizing step, I don’t want to overwhelm my skin anymore after all that makeup, so I’m going in with something light. sahajan - Radiance Face Serum is a great 2-in-1 hydration+oil serum. Making sure my hyaluronic acid is boosted, in case some of the makeup dried out my skin & some non-comedogenic coconut oil to lightly nourish my skin after all it’s been through. This serum makes the skin dewy.

Travel-size skincare 🧳
As I’ve been trying to downsize my collection of stuff, I’ve also been trying to keep my packing to a minimum & travel-size skincare really comes in clutch for that. I got this Woodlot sample kit back at my old work, and even though I don’t use most of this line on the regular, it’s really helpful for a 3-night getaway somewhere nearby (respecting the pandemic life) I cleanse with my favourite WOODLOT - Nourishing Cleansing Balm (I have this in full size too for heavy makeup or irritated skin days). It’s perfect for getting city grime of the day off my lovely face & cutting through stubborn makeup quickly. Really like to massage, melt it into my skin thoroughly. Then I spray some of the WOODLOT - Nourishing Facial Toner in my hand (4 star because I’m not a big fan of rose scents) and then add a few drops of WOODLOT - Nourishing Facial Oil (which I also use on my hair sometimes for a likkle sheen) and mix the two together on my face for better absorption. Boom! That’s how minimalism goes ✨ How much skincare do you bring with you when travelling for a few days?

My go-to candles
Candles are a huuuge part of my self care routine—just as much as skincare or makeup. The ritual of lighting a candle can be just as relaxing for me as a face mask, so today I wanted to share a few of my go-to candles for different occasions. DIPTYQUE - BAIES / BERRIES CANDLE I can smell this candle even when it’s not lit—that’s how strong the fragrance is (in a good way!) This mini size is $36, but it burns for forever. This candle feels so elegant that it’s my go-to for when I’m getting ready: even if I’m just putting on my normal makeup to go to work, it makes the occasion feel more like a treat yourself ritual. I haven’t tried any other Diptyque candles, but I adore the scent of this one, which Diptyque describes as a bouquet of roses and blackcurrant leaves. It definitely smells like roses to me, and it makes me feel so special as I’m getting ready. #Woodlot - Recharge candle[products]#[FiveStars] This candle from Woodlot is the most calming scent I’ve ever smelled. It’s a blend of peppermint and rosemary that simultaneously makes me feel energized and calm... basically the remedy to all my grad school woes. Woodlot candles are made with organic coconut and soy wax, with essential oils for scent, and they burn around 40 hours! At $26 for an 8oz candle, I don’t feel bad about letting this bad boy burn for hours and melt away all my stress. I love burning this after I get home as I try to de-stress from the day. I’ve had other Woodlot candles as well, but this is the only one I’ve repurchased because the scent and its effects are addictive. For that reason, this is my go-to candle for relaxing.

2-in-1 Cleansing Balm + Makeup Remover 🧼
2-in-1 Cleansing Balm + Makeup Remover 🧼
This cleansing balm, from a sustainable beauty brand in Vancouver, provides such a feel-good cleansing experience! Works for any skintype, inclusive of even sensitive, eczema-prone skin. Massaging the soothing balm into my damp skin turns it into a milk that gently breaks apart the makeup/debris from the day. Unlike some oil-based cleansers, it washes away super easily, while leaving my skin soft and moisturized. If you enjoy earthy, lemony scents this one is especially for you! 🌿🍋 WOODLOT - Nourishing Cleansing Balm

Valentina’s Introduction
Valentina’s Introduction
Hey lovelies, I’m so excited to be here, a social media app for skincare - whaaaat a dream come true! 💫 My personal skincare journey began when I started getting eczema on my neck, face, arms, legs in university, which I graduated with a BScience. I knew about the risks of using topical steroids, so I’ve been adamant on finding holistic ways to treat my case of eczema by first understanding the root cause. It’s a complex journey, as I’ve come to understand that there are different causes for eczema, such as stress, nutrition deficiencies, allergies, genetics, etc. So I began looking into skincare to find ways to manage my skin health while figuring out my entire health 🤪 Growing up with sensitive skin, I stayed away from most beauty products to avoid getting adverse reactions from certain synthetic ingredients... until I started looking into the benefits of clean, plant-based ingredients. And I make sure to look out for greenwashing! 🤓 I’ve since found that when I use the right ingredients, my skin actually thanks me. I now also look at skincare as part of self care rituals that our ancestors took on for many generations. In the past couple years, my passion has been focused on working out a skincare formula to soothe eczema-related rashes and infections. In the meanwhile, I’ve started working at a conscious, ethical beauty studio, Portia-Ella that carries ~40 Canadian brands, mostly led by women. I love working with our empowering team, which fuels my growth/self-development. We get a lot of training on ingredients and interact with various skin types, so I’m always happy to help! 🥰 In these photos, from Valentine’s Day, I’m holding some of my favourite skincare products of all-time, which you can find at Portia-Ella (online too.) I’ll be reviewing them in future posts 🤩 What’s your current skincare obsession? 🙌🏽 GRAYDON - The Putty WOODLOT - Nourishing Cleansing Balm GRAYDON - Face Food Mineral Mist Corpa Flora - Antidote HB5 Hydration
