Beauty gadgets or just..... fancy rocks?
I want to start this post by saying that different products work for different people, and I know there are those who love facial rollers and gua sha. I know skincare is very experiential for a lot of us, so sometimes it’s more about the ritual than actual results, which I totally understand. With that being said, I don’t think either one of these gadgets has made any difference in my skin personally, though I can see the appeal for those who like the aspect of facial massage. I got this rose quartz roller a few years ago when they were becoming really popular. Maybe the reason it hasn’t impressed me is because I got it for about $10 at TJ Maxx... I don’t even know what brand it is. It squeaks when I use it, and the motion caused some black stuff to flake off on my face multiple times, which wasn’t the cutest look. I will say that I do enjoy using this over a sheet mask because it makes it feel like the serum is being pushed/pressed into my skin, which I enjoy. However, that’s the only time I use it. Maybe I’m holding it wrong, but it doesn’t feel like I can apply enough pressure to really get much of a massaging effect. I would give this 2 or 3 stars because I don’t think my routine would really be different without it. This PRIMALLY PURE - Gua Sha Stone is better, in my opinion. I like that it’s just a solid piece of stone so there’s no squeaking or weird flaking stuff. In addition to being pretty, this stone does feel like I can use it more effectively to give myself a proper face massage. It claims to promote lymphatic drainage, relieve muscle tension, clear congestion, and increase blood flow to the skin, and I think all of those are realistic claims. I get pretty horrible sinus congestion a couple times a year, and a facial massage is the best and quickest way I’ve found to relieve the pressure. Any type of massage will increase blood flow to the skin and relieve muscle tension to some extent. I also really enjoy using this on my neck muscles, which are usually very tense. This stone is $32, which is worth it if you’ll use it often enough. It also comes in a nice pouch, which will protect it from breaking during travel. What do you guys think about these—are they just a fad or do you think they’re actually helpful and here to stay? #CheriePartner

Face oil with CBD?
Face oil with CBD?
PRIMALLY PURE - Soothing Serum is a blend of oils with 300mg/oz of full-spectrum CBD oil. Other oils include jojoba, pumpkin seed, pomegranate, squalane, evening primrose, and tamanu, along with ashwaghanda. It claims to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial effects, soothing conditions like acne. It has an herbal smell. Topical CBD products for acne seem gimmicky to me, to be honest. I have very stubborn hormonal acne though, so the soothing properties present in this oil blend may be helpful for others with less severe acne or other inflammatory conditions. Long story short, I haven’t seen any real difference in my skin while using this product, and at $54 for .5 oz, it’s quite pricey. The one upside is that it doesn’t seem to have worsened my acne, and it does feel very nourishing and moisturizing (I use this at night because I think it would be a bit heavy for daytime use). However, I can get the same moisturizing effect from much more affordable products.
