gotta love a nice dose of chemical burn
let me first say that i absolutely love The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 😂 i was getting ready for church when i decided to do a chemical peel. my skin is super sensitive so i have been using it for (MAX) 7 minutes. Well, as i was sitting there waiting for for the alarm to go out, my dog charli decided that it was the PERFECT time to need to go out.. 🤦🏻♀️ i gave in && took her out && she took 100 years to poo. when i finally got inside my face felt like needles were hitting my skin even after i washed it off. I ended up having it on for upwards of 9 mins; so i’m not shocked that this happened 🙃 i’m honestly not mad because i knew it could have been worse, and it also reminded me of the importance of intentionality when using these products on your skin. sure, i lost my moisture barrier that i worked super hard for, but i gained a lesson haha i have been treating it with HANHOO - Blemish Patch which have helped protect my raw skin from my mask && other environmental irritation. i have been washing my face with hypoallergenic baby soap, and have been super intentional about moisturizing with The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane and CeraVe - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion
In my corner for RED week! 🤗
Ok so we all Aunt Flow lives to destroy our complexions during what I call Red Week. It has taken me some time to find my perfect mix to get my skin back to “normal” and my face gets hit the week before all the way through and a week after Aunt Flow has vacated the premises! 😁 So anything that reduces the time of suffering is golden! CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser I just fell in love with the cleanser. It’s cheap like 12$ and it really does a great job with my troubled skin. It’s gentle, packed with all the necessities for fighting acne, and it’s not over-drying. I use this twice a day. SKIN&LAB - Dr. Vita Clinic, B Plus Calming Cream I got this wonderful product in my Ipsy glam plus bag and will now always have it. It’s about $18 and really does a great job resetting the oil and excess sebum that comes along with the hormones. It’s packed full of vitamins and B5. Really a great rescue product!! It soaks in fast like vitamin c serum and smells a little like pinesol....but it doesn’t stick around so it’s not a deal breaker. GLAMGLOW - BRIGHTEYES Illuminating Anti-Fatigue Eye Cream Because you know my eyes are sleepy! With linoleic acid, watermelon, apple and narcissus extracts, it helps repair the delicate eye area skin’s moisture barrier and prevent future signs of fatigue. Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Normally I use a moisturizer with SPF in it in the AM , but as I am using the calming cream I just top it with this super light, primer feeling, sunscreen. It really is unseen, and like a delicate veil on your skin! It’s broad spectrum and water/sweat resistant. HANHOO - Blemish Patch I was skeptical a little sticker could heal my blemishes, but these little dudes are great! This is the first blemish patch I have ever used but I really like these and they’re pretty cheap at like seven bucks. Now on really small blemishes they do almost completely disappear after leaving these on overnight. I did find on the larger blemishes It took 2-3 nights. But there was immediate reduction in swelling and redness on night 1. Also, can be worn in daytime. CLARISMA - Angel Sleeping Balm Night Mask One of my new favorite products. I can still gentle exfoliate my skin while I sleep and it actually helps reduce blemishes! The product claims to smooth imperfections and blemishes are imperfections 😂 ! I use this about 2 times a week every week, I just make sure not to miss it during red week.🤗 feel - MINDFUL PALO SANTO SOOTHING MASK The MOST soothing mask I own!!!! The adaptogenic mushrooms calm and the niacinamide treats the acne. A perfect formula for hormonal skin! The scent of chamomile and lavender help you unwind while the mask soothes your skin. I used this at least 2 times a week during hormonal breakouts. The masks I use at night🤗 What is in your corner?😊
My skin cabinet
Hey y’all This is my skin cabinet. As you can see it has a lot of samples from Ipsy and Sephora and only a few full sized products as I am new to skin care and I am trying out a lot of things to see what works for my skin. I wear a cpap mask and I have a hard time with pimples only under where I wear the mask. I am not acne prone but seem to get it only when I trap the oils. So far I love face masks and use them whenever I’m stressed out. The whole bottom shelf are different face masks I have tried and I have reviewed most on here. I am still learning about serums and oils so my middle row is a lot of products that will hydrate and moisturize my face. The top is mostly gentle cleansers. I rotate my use of these cleansers but my skin seems to love them all. My make up peg board is all tarte products that I bought full size. I love tarte because it matches my skin well and I don’t break out with continued use. I don’t wear make up a lot but still keep samples from Ipsy on the size in the buckets are lip samples, primer samples, and blushes. On the right in the cat vase are my brushes, mascaras, and liners. I am working through my samples right now and trying to see what I like so that hopefully in time I will buy full sized products for a routine that will work for my combination skin. I already know most acne geared skin care is too strong for my face and makes things worse. If anyone else has recommendations for maskne all would be appreciated.
Acne? We’ve all been there.
Hello all! This is my skin care journey. I have always had acne. For as long as I can remember, probably since I was roughly in 5th grade (I am 22 y/o now) and I have always struggled. It always seemed no matter how many products I tried, methods I used, nothing would help. I finally found one product that helped more than others; La Roche Posay Effaclar wash. This product helped me get even SEMI better skin. However, it just didn’t cut it. I finally broke and scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist in the company I work for. We tried antibiotics, creams, gels, prescription face washes, and literally anything you can think of, I have tried at least once. My derm finally got to the point where he decided Accutane would be the best route for me. I completed 5 months of Accutane, and the change in my skin and my confidence in my skin changed MY LIFE. If you struggle with acne like myself, you know the weight acne puts on you, and how it makes you feel absolutely worthless. Acne is a struggle, and it can definitely cause anxiety, and even depression. Finding a product that changes your life is mind blowing. I have been off of Accutane around 7 months now. The oiliness in my skin is starting to pick back up, I can tell my pores aren’t nearly as tiny as they were on Accutane. I’ve even started developing itty bitty zits, and black heads on my chin, nose, and T zone. I reached out to my dermatologist and he recommended a benzoyl peroxide face wash, and differin (adapalene) gel nightly. I’ve been doing this for about a month, and I can already see a difference in my skin AGAIN. Pores are smaller, oiliness is decreased immensely, and LESS ACNE. However, I have an insanely bad habit of picking at my face, and I tend to pick at tiny little things that I can hardly see, and others can’t see at all. Then I cause irritation to my skin, and make something that wasn’t even a problem, a big problem. I’m still working on not picking, but it gets the best of me, as I’m sure it does most of you. I’m always available and willing to help, and answer any questions anyone may have about skin care, and the best products I’ve found along the way that are staples in my routines. Follow me along with my journey. What’s in my bathroom?
Here are some products I bought previously before establishing my AM and PM routines that I haven’t parted with yet: bliss - Jelly Glow Peel I don’t love this obviously - I rated it two stars. As you use it it starts to pill up and sometimes the pilling sticks to my face after I’ve patted it dry 😂 Goodal Green Tangerine Moisturizing Cleansing Foam | ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love the smell and it foams up nicely making me feel like my skin really is being cleaned well. It can make my face feel somewhat dry and tight unlike the cleansers I use now. I would recommend this product for someone with oily skin. Aveeno - Positively Radiant 60 Second In-Shower Facial Cleanser I do still use this product. It comes in handy after a day at the pool or beach when I’ve reapplied sunscreen multiple times and my face is grimy from sweat. My face feels so soft afterwards. I prefer to use The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 5% + HA as my typical exfoliant. MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion I still use this product as well. I prefer Clean & Clear’s 2% salicylic acid acne spot treatment but will use this occasionally. VERSED - THE SHORTCUT Overnight Facial Peel Glycolic and lactic acid make this overnight mask pretty powerful. I still reach for this sometimes to mix things up. bliss - Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser This cleanser can also leave my skin feeling dry and tight on occasion unlike the Neutrogenia ultra-light cleansing oil I use currently as the first step in my PM double cleanse combo. HANHOO - Blemish Patch I’ve used other brands of acne patches that work better than the ones I have now. In general, I recommend these patches for larger breakouts. I typically apply them at night and remove them in the morning. They are little miracle workers! Jade Roller | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love rolling The Ordinary’s Squalane onto my skin as the absolute last step of my PM routine. Just don’t forget to spritz with isopropyl alcohol to cleanse after!
Those who struggle with acne, know how ANNOYING it is when a new pimple pops up. I have swore by this product since before Accutane use. That being said, as mentioned in my previous posts I’ve hit, for the first time since stopping accutane, a “breakout.” This product has been a life saver. I apply it every morning to my problem areas, after cleansing my face with micellar water, a tad bit of astringent, and using my Cerave moisturizing cream. I also use it nightly, in those same areas before bed; after washing my face with Panoxyl creamy 4% wash, and using my Cerave cream. I then apply a pimple patch (after using effaclar duo) to any acne bumps that I have. I’d say 80% of the time, the pimple is GONE. If it’s not gone, it’s DEFINITELY decreased in size, and redness. I promise you, this stuff works.
