Anna Sui Vanity hairbrush🌹
I’ve never really had a nice hair brush, they always get lost or chewed up by dogs lol💗 When I lose it, I honestly just stop brushing my hair until I find it, it’s really stupid. I’m trying to get more into hair care, it’s usually last on my list for upkeep & care😞 Upon loosing my last hairbrush for the 100th time, I wanted to get something cute that I would honestly care more about enough to keep track of... My hair is really thick & I’ve probably never used the “right” brush for it. When it gets tangled, it’s bad. After I got injured, I didn’t brush my hair for a while & my roommate spent 4 hours brushing it out lol. My hair was color treated back then, so it’s hard to say if this would measure up to that. But I remember my friend being like hell no I’m not using your brush on your hair & she used her boar bristle brush. In my experience a solely boar bristle brush doesn’t really work for my thick hair, but I love the feel on my scalp. So I was excited to try the combination of synthetic “boar” type bristle & the other plasticy ones with the little ball on top that this Anna Sui brush delivers. I read several reviews about this hairbrush comparing it to Mason Pearson, & they all said this was better. I personally haven’t tried a Mason Pearson, but the comparable models to the Anna Sui brush based on size & bristle count run between $175-$195! And the Anna Sui one is synthetic, so no use of animal hair. ANNA SUI - ANNA SUI Hair Brush $38 I really like this brush , but I don’t think it would be great for curly or textured hair types. My hair is really thick, & I had to be extra patient with this brush, but the results were worth it to barely break off any hair. It did create a bit of static for me, but I think that’s normal at my high elevation, but didn’t last. I love the way this feels on my scalp, it’s very gentle, & I have the most sensitive scalp ever!! This made my hair very smooth compared to my old crappy brush (the brand rubbed off, so I don’t even know it is, I used to just get drugstore brushes under $10) So this was a big upgrade for me. 5 stars is probably just because I’m so wowed at the difference, but this brush isn’t for everyone... It is sooo pretty though, I love the Anna Sui aesthetic🥀🖤 About 9” long, & actual brush plate is about 5”x 3” Made in Japan 🇯🇵 Anna Sui is an American fashion designer of Chinese descent, born in Detroit.
💧Nexxus® Ultimate Moisture shampoo/conditioner
I have thick slightly wavy strands, & a whole lot of them lol. My hair tangles easily when it isn’t properly hydrated & moisturized. I always stick with moisturizing shampoos & heavy conditioners for my hair type, which rarely gets oily, & has been even dryer since I moved to the mountains this year...🏔😩 I’ve been using both of these products for a while, (several bottles each) but I’ve also been really lazy about trying any new shampoos & conditioners. When I empty these I’m going to switch it up & try some new products. Nexxus Therappe™ Ultimate Moisture ProteinFusion™ shampoo for dry hair $12/13.5 oz NEXXUS - Therappe Ultimate Moisture Silicone Free Shampoo I like this shampoo a lot more than the conditioner. The formula doesn’t dry out my hair, but is still very effective for cleansing. Nexxus’ proprietary ProteinFusion™ treatment is a blend of green caviar & hydrolyzed elastin protein. It also contains hydrating Trehalose, moisturizing coconut oil, hydrolyzed wheat protein & keratin. I may stick with this shampoo unless I find something better. I really like the way it feels & rinses without that stringy drying feeling... so important to me! The scent could be better, it’s a bit of a sharp floral perfumey smell, sort of typical salon smell but a bit extra... I think it smells slightly better than the conditioner. Nexxus Humectress™ Ultimate Moisture ProteinFusion™ conditioner for dry hair $17/13.5 oz NEXXUS - Humectress Moisture Conditioner for Normal to Dry Hair This conditioner doesn’t quite cut it for me. Definitely does the job, but I would like something to moisturize even more. This has many of the same beneficial ingredients as the shampoo, like all the hydrolyzed proteins, coconut oil & caviar. In addition is has Caulerpa Lentillifera extract: a species of bryopsidale green algae from coastal regions in the Indo-Pacific. The scent is a little too perfumey, & this product just doesn’t leave my hair as moisturized as I would like, but it does make detangling a breeze. The price is a bit high for a conditioner that performs like a good drugstore product you could get for cheaper. Hair that is less dry or more fine than mine may love this. What shampoo & conditioner are you currently using? I’d love some recommendations, spam my comments! 💟PS- my full reviews for bothANNA SUI - Rose Liquid Body Soap & #HERBIVORE - Amethyst Exfoliating Body Scrub[products]#[FiveStars] are together in a previous post.
Crushed Amethyst body polish/Anna Sui body wash
🚿I’ve been slacking in the body care department lately, & really needed to exfoliate. I’m hoping I can step my game up a bit💎 I’m very good at keeping up my skincare routine, but with my disability, I kind of hate showering. These products were so luxurious, I’m actually looking forward to it. HERBIVORE - Amethyst Body Scrub With Epsom Salt $44/6.6 oz This was wonderful! Such a beautiful lilac shade without any artificial colors! I haven’t used a body scrub in a while & was definitely overdue (I’ve had a lot more ingrown hairs on my legs recently😞) This was super gentle, it didn’t hurt or scratch my skin. Not only is my skin quite pale, but I have a neurological condition that can make my skin flare up, so some body exfoliation products are way to abrasive for me. The first 2 ingredients are sugar & epsom salt, both are physical exfoliants & humectants that hydrate the skin while exfoliating. I love this type of physical exfoliators because they’re natural & begin to dissolve in water, leaving no residue or little beads afterwards. And did I mention, it has actual AMETHYST in it?! It also has organic coconut oil & organic shea butter as moisturizers high on the ingredients list. I know it won’t solve my ingrown hairs overnight, but my skin was so smooth, soft & almost felt moisturized enough to not reach for body lotion. (I live at a high elevation & the water at my apartment is very very drying, so I’m still impressed even though I did put on moisturizer☺️) The scent is so amazing! Main note is definitely rich, lush Sambac Jasmine, also known as Arabian Jasmine. If you like the Herbivore Orchid Oil, you will probably like this scent too. It’s a very natural product with great ingredients... I will definitely be adding this to my shower routine!! ANNA SUI - Rose Liquid Body Soap $20/8.4 oz 🌹I really enjoyed this one too. The scents paired so well together! This obviously has a rose scent; extracted from the Dog Rose & the gorgeous Cabbage Rose. A bit of that old lady style rose smell, but not deep & musky, it’s quite sweet, light & fresh. I personally love Rose (& Jasmine) Smell softens once out of the bottle. 🇯🇵This product is from fashion designer Anna Sui’s beauty line made in Japan. All her stuff is sooo cute! With hydrating honey & moisturizing almond oil, this body wash left my skin soft & it wasn’t drying at all. That’s very important in a body wash for me! But it does the job of cleansing the body well with Lauric acid as the 2nd ingredient, which is a hydrating antibacterial agent extracted from coconut that’s able to fight pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, & yeasts. Many of the benefits tied to coconut oil are directly linked to Lauric acid. All in all a really nice body wash... I wish the scent lasted a bit longer, but maybe that’s too much to expect from a body wash. Still giving it 5⭐️ a bit pricey for a body wash I suppose, but you don’t need much to get a nice lather.

💳🛍I recently went on a book ordering spree... (😝one of my favorite things, besides skincare splurges) 💻 Even though we can get seemingly endless information about skincare online, I was curious to seek out some books because I love the tactility & I really hate reading on a screen. Regarding ingredients, there is a plethora of opposing information online, & I’m sure these books will yield some of that too. It’s important to cross reference your searches, meaning checking multiple sources & comparing that information. It’s also important to consider what site is providing the information & whom might benefit from it. 📚Swipe to peek inside📖 PRETTY ICONIC A Personal Look at the Beauty Products That Changed the World By Sali Hughes 2016 💄$18-$21 (paperback version) I was most excited about this one, I’m a big fan of pop culture history & of course I love beauty products. I think this book would likely find a loving home on many of your coffee tables☕️ With over 400 pages of iconic & cult popular skincare & cosmetics products from over the decades, this is such a fun addition to any beauty fanatics collection! THE BEAUTY GEEK’S GUIDE TO SKINCARE 1,000 Essential Definitions of Common Product Ingredients By Deborah Burnes 2019 👩🏽🔬$15-$18 • 178 pages A really great resource for looking up both chemical & botanical ingredients. The vast majority of the book is just like a dictionary. It also includes some natural recipes & remedies, as well as source references for all ingredient info. MAKEUP IS NOT (JUST) MAGIC A Manga Guide to Cosmetics & Skin Care Written & illustrated by Ikumi Rotta 2019 🌸$14 • 135 pages This super cute manga was translated into English earlier this year. It takes the form of a guide to the basics of Japanese skincare & makeup application by following a loose narrative of a young woman who writes about beauty products on social media (sound familiar?😻) I read a lot of manga, I’m impressed by this high quality paper! THE KOREAN SKINCARE BIBLE The Ultimate Guide to K-Beauty Secrets By Lilian Yang, Leah Ganse & Sara Jiménez 2018 Makeup chapter by Esther Sandoval 💗$13 (hardbound) 🇪🇸This was actually originally published in Spain as: ‘El Arte Coreano del Cuidado de la Piel’ It’s a cute little 189 pages, straightforward & informative. I have way too many samples... I’ll start with the ones I can truly give a solid review on because I’ve tried them several times, but we’ll get through them all together eventually🥰 Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream This cream has a great complex of ceramides, & helped my friends dry skin patches from psoriasis... but the very strong herbal smell I think from the sage oil is way too much for me. I can’t use it because I get nauseous. PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream Didn’t like this personally... I really wanted it to smell like matcha 🍵it’s one of my favorite scents, but this smells very citrusy & turns into a kinda yucky dirt smell... Texture is very nice but it kind of made burning/itching sensations. DIOR - Capture Dreamskin Care & Perfect One of Dior’s more expensive products, & it sucks. Smells like old lady lotion in the worst of ways & is basically a very greasy primer with a bit of peachy shimmer in it. I had a lot of these at one point, tried to find a use—-Major pass. IGK - Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm 🥥I love this! Great texture, a completely non-greasy, lightweight, matte gel that doesn’t weigh down my hair at all. It slicked down flyaways & broken hairs by my part really well & gave subtle natural definition to my waves. I would definitely consider buying the full size, it’s vegan, cruelty free, gluten free & free of petroleum products, sulfates & parabens. Great light scent that’s hard to put my finger on but reminds of a fancy salon. Milk MAKEUP - Sunshine Oil This was very thin, runny & hard to control. It has a very simple natural ingredients list, with grape seed & avocado oils as the first 2 ingredients, but It’s also full of citrus oils like grapefruit peel, tangerine peel, mandarin peel & lemon peel oil. There’s not much else in it, & it really irritated my skin unfortunately. Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment This lactic acid & papaya enzyme based exfoliating treatment creates nice temporary results for me. My skin is very smooth after & with no redness, however, even after layers of hydration my skin is still so dry. I can see my skin drink up my essence & serum like never before & I struggle to get hydration back. I checked the ingredients & it has denatured alcohol! Yikes🧐 BITE - Agave+ Weekly Vegan Lip Scrub A great natural lip scrub. It smells wonderful like something caramelized & delicious. But I’d prefer a bit more exfoliant. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Aqua XL Color Paint Shadow shade: M56 This is waterproof af, check my swatches. Blended nicely but do it fast lol, dries to a powdery finish. This would probably make great eyeliner if you’re steady with a brush! 💕Kehlani looks stunning! ANNA SUI - Fantasia Mermaid Eau de Toilette Smells like Christmas time at stores? I like it😂
