PIMPLES-GOOD RIDDANCE! (part 1)
A pimple is a part of everyone’s path and in the time I’ve lived, I encountered many a pimple and each time I obsess over it trying to find the most perfect spot treatment. I think just about anyone can relate. Below is my experience and thoughts on some of the things I’ve tried. A remedy for every pimple type! Kate Somerville - EradiKate Acne Treatment For night time application only. Very drying and funky (contains alcohol, an irritant to skin but works so well I can’t resist.) Most effective on a surfacing pimple (not the screaming kind). Pimple cleared within 1-2 days. Not for cystic acne. HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Invisible+ for Madewell $0.46 per sticker. Surprisingly super sticky and long lasting. As “invisible” as it gets, it blurs acne from afar. You can wear it under make up. Matte enough to wear out in public. Specific for pimples that look prime and ready to pop (note to self: resist the urge to squeeze). YES SISTERS!! This is it! It sucks everything up which gives me a close satisfying feeling to watching Dr. Pimple Popper pop that goody goody for good. alba BOTANICA - Acne Pimple Patch $0.19 per sticker. A cheaper alternative to the Mighty Patch. Contains ingredients like tea tree oil and witch hazel to help calm the pimple. Matte finish but not as thin as the Mighty Patch. Not that sticky, some fall off and gets stuck to my pillow at night. The outer edge circumference starts to lose its adhesiveness throughout the day (be brave enough to wear it in public, it helps!). If I wrote YES SISTERS for the Mighty Patch, this is more like a yes sisters. I use the Mighty Patch until most of the gunk is gone (around 1-2 nights) and if the pimple is still there then I switch and use Alba Botanica pimple patch to absorb any remaining fluids. PETER THOMAS ROTH - Acne Patches $0.44 per sticker. Glossy finish. It has different ingredients like salicylic acid and tea tree oil that helps soothe that flaring spot without drying you as it also contains hyaluronic acid. For best results, use on pimples that hasn’t come to a head yet. The adhesive is pretty top notch unless it’s worn in moist conditions. It has helped me prevent so many almost cystic pimples. I would be at a loss without it. If you know any other effective products feel free to share so I can experience the same joys of eliminating pimples with you! 🤩 For more tips on how to say goodbye to that pimple, check out my other post Pimples-Good Riddance Part 2.

Review my routine!
Hi everyone! Still fairly new to skincare so my routine definitely still has room for improvement. I have combo skin where I can get a bit oily in the T-zone but dry around my nose, mouth, and eyes. So far this routine is working pretty well for me but I don’t feel like I am getting enough moisture. Also if anyone has any recommendations please let me know! CleanserOLE HENRIKSEN - Truth Juice Daily Cleanser okay I love this cleanser! It’s so gentle and I don’t feel like it strips my skin. Exfoliating cleanser THE BODY SHOP - Vitamin C Microdermabrasion I use this once or twice a week and it’s okay. I prefer the philosophy - The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash but it’s not cruelty free and it’s fairly expensive. SerumThe Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This product is AMAZING it helped clear up my skin in about a week. Eye creams:THE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream I don’t really see results from this one. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream I got this as a sample and I feel like it’s nice and moisturizing under my eyes, I don’t see dramatic results though. Moisturizer THE inkey LIST - Multi-Biotic I recently started using this and I can definitely see an improvement, my only complaint is it doesn’t smell great. Moisturizer ACURE - Brightening Day Cream While I don’t use this anymore I do still love it and use it for if I go overkill irritating my skin. Acne alba BOTANICA - Acne Pimple Patch These work well and are so affordable! Clean&Clear - Advantage Acne Spot Treatment One of the few spot treatments that actually works on me.

Month 1 Curology & Differin- The Purge Is Real
I’ve always had acne, but at 21 I started getting hormonal acne on my cheeks, chin and jaw- super painful and red! I am currently experiencing a lot of purging after a month exactly on Curology & Differin due to doctor and friend recommendation. I also got my hormonal IUD (Kyleena) out on Friday (10/09?) and I feel like my acne has been hormonally linked more than anything. I started taking Sprintec hormonal BC so we’ll see how it goes. My first derm appointment is Nov 1st- not soon enough! I wasn’t exactly informed til about two weeks in that my skin would be worse, which was pretty shitty, but it is what it is. I’m at about week 5 1/2 and have found some products work better or worse for me. I have very sensitive skin- parts of my body are prone to eczema but my face is combo (oily/dry) and prone to acne (hormonal mostly). My routine: AM- Curology cleanser Curology moisturizer (it’s very light/gel) but more often now I use the TO moisturizer lately (for dry/sensitive skin) I use Micellar cleansing water with cotton pads during the day if I sweat or wear my mask 😷 then apply moisturizer again if my skin barrier looks dry- it usually does nowadays.. PM- Double cleanse with Curology cleanser or Alba SA Cleanser (gently exfoliates) when I need to exfoliate Curology moisturizer or TO moisturizer (usually TO) Curology formula every other night / Differin every other night (I never use together even though at first I was🤧)- I might decrease the use of these but idk what to do Curology moisturizer or TO moisturizer (sway toward this) Please give me tips or reassurance that I’m doing okay! Best of luck to any girlies or others💜 struggling with maskcne, cystic acne and hormonal acne.... I feel ya! 💘

Let’s talk Alba Botanica
alba BOTANICA - Acnedote Maximum Strength Deep Clean Astringent Oh boy. Where to begin with this. So let me start by saying I bought this product with full knowledge that this may not have the best ingredient list. The second ingredient listed is alcohol and there are a couple of essential oils in it as well as some fragrance. The ingredient list seems very harsh to me and I should have expected the results I got, but I was willing to try it because I’ve heard good things about other products this brand has. I was also willing to try it because I have really stubborn blackheads and clogged pores that I was hoping this would help with. I have been using this now for roughly a month. I use it on a cotton pad after cleansing morning and night as the bottle says to use. So here’s my thoughts: Positives (or rather one positive) I breakout around my lady days and it definitely reduced the amount of time that those pimples lingered. I mean there was one day that I had a pimple on my chin and I used this and then boom. Next day it was GONE. Negatives my skin feels SO stripped. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and because this stripped my skin so bad, my face was over producing oil to try to compensate. My dry areas didn’t necessarily get too much drier but I did feel more tightness in those areas. it did nothing for my blackheads or pores at all. I don’t see any difference in the blackheads and pores on my nose and cheeks, which are my biggest problem areas. In fact, I feel like these areas got worse since I was super oily while using. My skin would get super red after using. No stinging or burning but definitely some irritation. I can’t imagine what this would have done to my face if I had super sensitive skin Overall thoughts: I definitely would not repurchase this but I may use it as a spot treatment for pimples until I finish the bottle because it really did work at getting rid of them fast as the product claims to do. This is the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars because it did do at least half of what it’s supposed to do. If anyone wants to try this, I would recommend it for people that have lots of pimples as a way to clear them up. I definitely would not recommend it for sensitive skin or any other skin issues other than pimples. As always, remember to patch test your products and that just because a product doesn’t work for some people, doesn’t mean it won’t work for you! Hope you enjoy this review! ~Kristina

Toner for oily skin
Alba Botanica’s Deep Clean Astringent is a part of their Acnedote line. As you can tell from the name, this toner is an astringent that is designed for oily, acne-prone skin. While I’ve tried other products from Alba in the past that I liked, this toner was a big no for me. I was tempted into buying this about a month ago because I saw it at TJ Maxx and thought “why not? it’s only a few bucks.” I should’ve known better than to try an astringent on my skin during the NY winter. Although my skin does tend to be oily, I’ve learned that it’s better to hydrate it and not strip it, which forces it to produce more oil. I don’t know why I thought this product would be different. This product includes 2% salicylic acid, an ingredient which works for me in other products. HOWEVER it’s also mostly alcohol, and despite other moisturizing ingredients like glycerin and aloe, it still stung my skin when I applied it. It reminded me of when I was on eighth grade and put straight up rubbing alcohol on my face to try to clear my acne. It smells strongly of alcohol too, which is just not pleasant. I only used it a few times before chucking it, and even though it only cost a few dollars, I was still upset that I wasted my time and money. I wouldn’t even use this on my body. I would not recommend this product to anyone because we’re not in eighth grade. There are other inexpensive toners (like Dickinson’s hydrating witch hazel) that I’ve used and really enjoyed which didn’t burn my skin or strip it of oil. I recommend trying something like that instead of this product which smells like a shot and not skincare. ⭐️, 1/5 stars alba BOTANICA - Acnedote Maximum Strength Deep Clean Astringent

Don’t Skip This!! ☀️
One common misconception is that sunscreen is just meant for summer and let me tell you that is a complete lie. Sunscreen is important year round because even on cloudy days the sun’s UV rays are still able to penetrate skin. Even if you plan on staying inside it is still important to use some sort of sun protection from window lighting. Basically, use sunscreen all day. Everyday. I chose the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen for my year-round sun protection needs and here are some reasons Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 why: 1. This sunscreen is lightweight. That means that in the summer I don't have to worry about feeling greasy or like there is an invisible film over my face. It's breathable and once absorbed I can’t even feel it. 2. It protects against UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays cause the common sunburn while UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin causing wrinkles and damage to skin cells leading to premature aging. 3. The formulation is clean and reef safe, which means no oxybenzone, octinoxate, parabens. While sunscreens have a long way to go in the US before being something I desire and enjoy to put on this formulation really helps me feel better about applying my sunscreen knowing the advances in the formulation. Sunscreen has become a huge priority in the beauty industry and now there are many different options to choose from. Here are some of my favorites in different forms. Skin care routine
After countless hours of research I found my current skincare routine. As mentioned in my previous post I have pretty oily skin with large pores and texture issues being my biggest skin problems. I discovered an app called Think Dirty that breaks down the ingredients of different skin care, beauty, and household products and gives them as rating based on how good the ingredients are for your body as well as the environment. HIGHLY recommend checking it out but be prepared that you may find some of your favorite products really aren’t that great... As for my routine: In the mornings I wash my face with HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser which I love as it is super gentle but still feels like it is really cleaning my face. It has super clean ingredients and smells nice. Then I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner This toner is fairly gentle. I had been using the ordinary toner which is a lot stronger and always made my face burn so I like that this one is a bit more chill plus it has extra ingredients like niacinamide and vitamin C. After that I apply the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream since I have oily skin I wanted to use am oil free moisturizer and I’m obsessed with this one. It is super light weight but really feels like it hydrates. If I am planning to go outside I use the alba BOTANICA - Mineral Sunscreen, Sensitive, Fragrance Free, SPF 30 I chose this one because it had super clean ingredients and I am sensitive to normal sunscreen so I had to find a mineral based one. It’s not greasy and doesn’t leave a white residue or anything so I’m super happy with it. In the evening I again wash with the Honest cleanser and apply the good molecules toner. Then a few nights a week I use the GOOD MOLECULES - Overnight Exfoliating Treatment I’ve only used it a couple times so I haven’t noticed a huge improvement but my skin seems a little less uneven texture wise so I think as I continue to use it it will really help. I gave it 4 stars because it does burn a little but that’s expected for most exfoliators... At night I also use the GOOD MOLECULES - Discoloration Correcting Serum and GOOD MOLECULES - Squalane Oil both of which I like so far! The oil makes me skin super soft and I think with continued use both will show good results. I then use the honest moisturizer and head to bed. When I want a little extra exfoliation I use either the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which I really like and has definitely help my texture or the AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay (not pictured) which is my savior for my pores. I recommend doing a half water half apple cider vinegar mix because it can be a bit intense with straight vinegar. I highly recommend all of these products so feel free to comment for more info!!!

From masks to camping these wipes have you set
Summer is here and we are still wearing masks when we go out in public which is making our skin cranky. Unless I have an event, or an occasion, I typically don’t wear makeup which is bonus for my skin which now has fabric rubbing on it every day, all day long. Even without makeup, just natural skin oils and irritants like free radicals in the air are getting trapped and causing breakouts. Not having the option to go wash my face every couple hours, these wipes have been a game changer in how I handle the new normal. Also a great thing to keep in my pack now that summer is here and the great out doors are calling my name!! “Can’t do the whole sink-soap-water routine? No worries! Get cleaned up fast: First, gentle cleansers remove makeup. Second, fruit enzymes break through oil and grime for a pore-deep clean. Finally, aloe & awapuhi tone and balance without tightness. A full clean routine doesn’t get any easier than this.” Free of Alcohol, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and artificial dyes. 100% Vegetarian and certified organic. ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice(1), Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Enteromorpha Compressa Extract, Hedychium Coronarium Root Extract, Barosma Betulina Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Allantoin, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Babassu Oil, Polyglyceryl-4 Esters, Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum, Panthenol, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Sodium PCA, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Allyl Caproate, Allyl Heptanoate, Lauraldeyde, Triethyl Citrate, Vanillin, Citral, Limonene, Linalool. A good friend recommended these bad boys to me (she uses more intense ones with salicylic acid because she’s more acne prone and less sensitive) and I was skeptical but needed a spot treatment for my occasional pimples. These are amazing! I forgot to take a before/after but I went to bed with a knot coming in on my chin and woke up and all the redness and pain was gone! They also keep you from picking (yay!). I’d highly recommend these to anyone who gets the occasional spot but would probably go for stronger patches if you get intense acne. These are gentle and made with tea tree oil, witch hazel, and lentil and parsley extracts. Salicylic acid is going to be much better on those more acne prone but if you’re quite reactive/sensitive give these a try first! They’re also non-drying for my dry people. alba BOTANICA - Acne Pimple Patch
