Spironolactone Journey - Week 1
So after visiting my dermatologist and explaining my acne troubles and all, my derm decided it would be best to put me on Spironolactone for hormonal acne, as well as an azelaic acid, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide mixture. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ So as of lately, my routine HAS changed from my previous post about routines - which, also, if you have seen / read my previous routine post, please please PLEASE be cautious if you want to give it a try, for some people it works wonders, but for me it destroyed my skin. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ With that being said, here is my new routine with my dermatologist: AM: ☀️👄 1.5 tablets of Spironolactone (oral Rx) - same time every morning ☀️ VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser ☀️ Sulfacetamide Sodium lotion (Rx) (pretty sure this is temporary) ☀️ Azelaic acid mixture (with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide) (Rx only) - still waiting for this from the pharmacy...🥺 ☀️ VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream ☀️ KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 OR Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 OR Eucerin - Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 (SPF is a necessity no matter what, but its nice to have options) ——————————————————————————— PM: 🌙 PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control 🌙 Sulfaceamide Sodium lotion (Rx only) 🌙 Azelaic acid mixture (Rx only) 🌙 VANICREAM - Moisturizing Skin Cream ——————————————————————————— ⏰ once a week - The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution- I haven’t gotten this yet, but my derm recommended it for the blackheads on my nose and chin, so I’ll give more on this later, being an exfoliating acid I’m sure this would also be good for texture irregularity, but we’ll see what happens. ——————————————————————————— Week 1 final thoughts: I have to admit, openly, I have the horrible habit of picking at my acne (as you can probably tell). Something I have pushed this week though is to spend less time in front a mirror or thinking about it, to prevent picking. I haven’t gotten the azelaic acid mix yet 🥺 ⚠️ I know Spironolactone doesn’t work overnight. It takes about 3 months to really start to show the effects. ——————————————————————————— As an informational piece: Sulfaceamide Sodium is a topical antibiotic which kills skin infections, this works well for acne, kind of like benzoyl peroxide. Azelaic acid, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are all pregnancy safe. 🤰 However, Spironolactone is NOT. 🛑 Check out my other posts about Spironolactone for more info, if you’d like. ——————————————————————————— Since this a new journey for me, I’ll be updating every week or so with my results, so that I can also see the difference in my skin as time goes on (visual documentation for my derm too!) Wish me luck 💙🙏🏻🎃

Routine Suggestions? 🤪
As you can see, I have normal acne, though sometimes it can be cystic / nodule acne that has no whitehead, its just inflamed and hurts a lot. I also [obviously] have pretty enlarged pores and skin texture problems with some dark spots and uneven tone. My skin type is combination / dehydrated / acne-prone My current routine (in order) is this: AM: - CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin I enjoy how this makes my skin feel because my skin can be really dehydrated, though I don’t know if this is the best cleanser for my skin? Its just something I’ve used with some luck. - J.R. WATKINS - Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin Spray I enjoy how this toner feels since its light and semi-hydrating, it doesn’t bother my skin and its calming - The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics - The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 both because I have dehydrated skin, so hydration is key 🔑 for me - The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% for the pores ⚔️ - SKINFOOD - Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence I looove this essence for the hydration - COSRX - Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream I do love this moisturizer because its the only one I’ve found that actually hydrates my skin - DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I use just about two drops of jojoba to seal in the moisture by patting my face - Eucerin - Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion Sunscreen SPF 30 lastly, SPF, I don’t really like this one because it leaves a horrible whitecast (even on my fair skin!) but it does keep my face moisturized too PM: - GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover I am thinking to switch to the rosewater version, but maybe a probiotic / hydrating toner would be better? 🤔 - CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin - J.R. WATKINS - Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin Spray - The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics - The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 - The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% - SKINFOOD - Royal Honey Propolis Enrich Essence - COSRX - Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream - DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution every TUE and SAT for exfoliation I’m mostly posting this to expand my skincare trials and see what you guys think for combating acne / dehydration / large pores / uneven tone / texture! I love seeing everyone’s comment on other posts about things to try. So since my routine is still fairly new (3 weeks) I want to see what you guys suggest from your experience! 🙂

My Top 4 body lotions 🧴
With it being Fall and Winter coming soon, I thought I’d do some short reviews of my favorite body lotions 😍 I suffer from Hypothyroidism and Hashimotos disease and those can make your skin extremely dry. When I look for a good lotion, I like intense hydration but hate the greasy feeling. Sometimes however, I had to use a heavy lotion when my skin is at its driest. My lightest and least great lotion is ULTA BEAUTY - Watermelon Body Sorbet I bought a bunch of these on sale recently because they are amazing!! They hydrate really well but not great at all! This is a perfect year round lotion! My other year round lotion especially at the beach 🏖 is HEMPZ - Original Herbal Body Moisturizer I’ve used this lotion since middle school and that’s a really long time 😂. This scent is immediately recognizable and I absolutely love it! It’s not too greasy unless you use a ton and hydrates extremely well!! My next favorite hand lotion is the Mrs. Myers. I love the light basil scent and it’s not greasy at all for me. I really like this entire brand especially their cleaning products! No chemicals and safe for little ones!! My #1 recover lotion when my skin is almost cracking it’s so dry is Eucerin - Eczema Relief Body Cream, Eczema-Prone Skin I’ve tried so many lotions and this is one that really soothes my body. It also works quickly to heal the sore dry spots. This one is the greasiest out of the 4 but sometimes you really need a heavy lotion. My daughter suffers from eczema sometimes and this always clears the spots up in a couple days. I always keep these four lotions on hand and I would recommend any of the four depending on your needs.❤️

Treating Hand Eczema EASY 👐
Eczema is a common condition that affects around 10% of the U.S. population (national eczema organization). This conditions presents itself in an uncomfortable manner, making finding the right treatments a necessity. ☆Why does it happen? can be passed down genetically exposure to allergies and irritating substances cold, dry conditions can trigger it more often ☆How to tell you have Hand Eczema: (see 2nd photo) Itchy red skin mild to severe dryness cracking sometimes cause bleeding and blisters! ☆Treatments and helpful tips Finding the right moisturizer for your hands is essential. This should be used during eczema breakouts as well as when the skin is clear. This keeps the barrier protected, seals in moisture, and helps reduce the occurrence of consistent flare ups. Also, if you know a certain product has caused the eczema to occur, you can remove the allergen from affecting your skin. For example, this can be harsh cleaners or chemicals. The National Eczema Organization recommends using thick, emollient creams to treat hand eczema. It should be a rich, oil based moisturizer or petroleum jelly. Eucerin - Eczema Relief Body Cream, Eczema-Prone Skin My husband deals with consistent hand eczema, specifically on his knuckles. He also has frequent flare ups on his knee caps. He started using this eczema cream, and with consistent use, it cleared up nicely. He now uses it on his hands and body daily to help moisturize and protect the skin from future breakouts. Be sure to use a daily protectant and remove any known allergies from your routine. Eczema is an uncomfortable skin condition to deal with, but hopefully my recommendations help soothe your itchy skin into the colder months! *2nd photo source: American Academy of Dermatology other photos are mine.

How to look younger? Must Try These!
We all care about aging, always want to keep as young as we can and non-stopping prevents aging. Besides age, SUN can make us older. Most of us think of the sun as our friend, it is. But a friend can hurt you at the same time. It brings vitamin D also sunburn in the meantime. Some celebrities even said indoor light has UV and needs to put on sunscreen which they wear once they wake up as one way of skincare. No doubt sun protection is a must nowadays. I wear sunscreen almost every day even without makeup but sunscreen still to prevent UV. As once skin gets dryness and tread, the wrinkles come easily and look aged! Here are a few SPF products that I would like to share with you! Eucerin - Daily Protection Face Lotion Broad Spectrum I started this sunscreen from a sensitive type of skin friend, she recommends this as everyday usage. Since she had sensitive skin, she selected skincare products extremely carefully. It didn't get any irritation on her while applying every day. I use it when I didn’t put makeup on and sometimes even use it as a makeup primer. Since Eucerin’s product is so secure for daily usage, I tested it to take over my makeup primer for one week. Surprisingly it worked pretty well, fast-absorbed, not oily, and hydrated all day! And of course, came with SPF! Additionally, some primers may cause acne but Eucerin doesn’t. ORBIS - UV Cut Sunscreen On Face Light SPF 34 PA+++ Orbis is a great and reasonable-priced brand. I have tried many of their products already. This colour-UV Cut Sunscreen is always on my repurchase list. It’s lightweight, not sticky, and easily smears. The texture works pretty well below the foundation. If you have a sallow complexion, it can retouch and give you a natural color instead of dead white! Talking about the price it’s a great deal, even if you need it for daily use. I had these two alternates as my primer before foundation. Both are SPF3 30s around that are secure for everyday usage. I suggest using Eucerin if you don’t wear makeup as sun protection is such important! Since Orbis can be skin-retouched, it’s a good option to use it as SPF primer! Good sun protection can look younger, don’t forget to put on your sunblock!

Eucerin Daily Protection Face Lotion 😕
This sunscreen is marketed as a daily face lotion with SPF 30. Eucerin markets itself as a dermatologist recommended brand. Eucerin claims that this product is lightweight and that it provides 24 hours of moisture, as well as being gentle on sensitive skin. I would disagree with the claim that this product is lightweight, as the consistency feels rather thick, similar to their og body lotions. As you can see in the second picture it does not look as light weight as it markets itself to be. On the light weight to rich scale on the product bottle this one is the second most light weight on the scale. I can only imagine how thick and heavy the most rich sunscreen is. That sunscreen would probably clog my pores and make me break out for three and a half years. As you can probably tell I am not a huge fan of this product. I had decided to try it out because I needed a reliable sunscreen for daily use that would be lightweight enough to not clog my pores and still provide ample sun protection. Depending on where you get it, it is about $7-9. I decided to give it a try because it was affordable and generally had good ratings. Sadly, it did not live up to my expectations. It feels greasy on my skin and I am unable to put make up on over this. If you’re looking for a sunscreen that you can wear under your make up, this one is not it. If you’re looking for a sunscreen that is lightweight, this one is also not it. If you’re looking for a sunscreen for casualwear when going outdoors and not wearing make up, then this product could do the job. I don’t really use this unless I’m going hiking. That’s about it. Rating: ⭐️⭐️ (2/5 stars) Eucerin - Daily Protection Face Lotion Broad Spectrum

My face loves this product💕
I love this cream for my face, I know it does not say that it is a facial cream but for my face it has worked wonderfully, it is somewhat greasy but I love it, for dry dehydrated skin I think it works very well.🍃 My face was always very dry, it burned easily and every time I put some cream on my face it burned horrible, I tried many products until I decided to try this product and it really worked.🍃 I no longer use this product often I only use it when my skin is dry and dehydrated, now I try other creams with more freedom.🍃 It is a product that I am very grateful for and that I will definitely continue to use.🍃Eucerin - Advanced Repair Cream

Newbie to skincare, suggestions please!!!
I was very lucky that as a teenager I had very little acne, mostly due to having skin on the drier side. As an adult I have had several periods of bad hormonal acne. Each time I treated it differently, one time with frequent facials, one time with dermatologist prescriptions (my favorite was the Sumadan wash which is sulfur-based) , but the cure in the end was always fixing the hormones. Most recently, I had been essentially acne-free for around three years. I would get a pimple here and there, especially around my period, but nothing that required an actual skincare routine. I used a gentle cleanser (Usually Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser ) or just water, and a simple oil free moisturizer (Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Oil-Free Moisture ). The few pimples I got I would treat with MyChelle dermaceuticals - Clear Skin Spot Treatment In the winter I would add oil on and I also liked this thicker moisturizer Eucerin - Q10 Active Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream So fast forward to 2020. The pandemic causing stress, throwing my hormones out of whack, eating differently than I used to, and of course MASKNE. I’ve had a hard time getting it under control because I keep over treating it, and burning or dehydrating my skin. I also have some dark spots from the new acne, and am noticing my first wrinkles. (I also have hair and scalp problems but maybe I will save that for a different post). I have combo/dry skin depending on the season, and I have very sensitive skin ALL THE TIME. I’ve also gotten allergy tested and am allergic to fragrance and a few other chemicals used in foaming cleansers. One of my two tests said I was also allergic to tea tree oil, so I try to avoid that as much as possible as well. I have just started trying some samples of new products that I have seen on Cherie, but I haven’t taken the plunge yet to buy full sizes because I am just not sure what I need. Serums? Actives? What are those? Looking for suggestions! PS: my skin looks oily in this picture because i had just put on my nighttime oil, also this week the acne has cleared up mostly except two large pimples on my neck that you can’t see in the analysis.

Dry hands 🦠🖐🏻😷
This quarantine, constant hand washing and the use of antibacterial gel has caused dryness and irritation in our hands. When I leave my house and I have to apply antibacterial gel constantly, my hands feels tight, burning and itchy 😩. I have tried these two products that have helped me a lot to calm the irritation. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Lipikar Eczema Soothing Relief Cream This cream helps protect and soothe minor irritations and itching due to eczema and rashes. This contains 1% colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, niacinamide and La Roche Posay prebiotic thermal water. Instantly hydrates and calms irritation, is non-greasy and absorbs quickly. FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Pharma Oat & Hemp Multi-Fix Salve This is a fix it all balm that helps soothe, smooth, hydrate and protect. This balm contains colloidal oatmeal, hemp seed oil and avocado oil. I prefer to use this at night because it is a little greasy, but it works very well, hydrates and repairs dry skin. Other products that can be used: Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin BIODERMA - Atoderm Crème parfumée Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream Johnson's - Baby Jelly Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand Cream Eucerin - Intensive Repair Lotion, Fragrance Free Some tips: 🦠 Use warm water to wash your hands 🦠 Use neutral soaps or syndets 🦠 After washing or using antibacterial gel apply moisturizer 🦠 Look for creams based on mineral oil or petrolatum, without fragrances or dyes. Syndets: Cetaphil - Gentle Cleansing Bar Dove white beauty bar Dove sensitive skin beauty bar Eucerin pH 5 soap free bar La Roche-Posay lipikar surgras cleansing bar

my dermatologist visit + lots of info!
hey everyone! sorry for not posting in a long time! i want to put out detailed and quality content so i just never got to posting :( let's just get into it! i went to a dermatologist the day before yesterday, and i was prescribed 0.05% tretinoin cream and 0.1% clindimyacin gel for acne control. now, before you search what these ingredients are on google, here's a detailed description: tretinoin is the strongest and most studied derivative of retin a or vitamin a. tretinoin is basically the king of skincare, treating many concerns like fine lines, wrinkles, acne, dark spots, closed comedones, clogged pores, etc. tretinoin is very strong, so it's only available in 0.025%, 0.05%, and 0.1% concentrations in cream, gel, and solution (correct me if i'm wrong) vehicles. it can only be used at night, since it increases sensitivity to sun, and you MUST wear sunscreen (like always!!) unfortunately, common side effects of tretinoin are peeling and dryness. clindimyacin, on the other hand, is an antibiotic and works by killing acne-causing bacteria. clindimyacin is more gentle than tretinoin and you can use it in the daytime as well. it is found in 1% concentrations, in gel, cream, and solution vehicles. unfortunately it cannot treat acne by itself, it will only reduce it. this is where tretinoin comes in: many derms prescribe tretinoin with clindimyacin, like mine, and they are a deadly duo to stop acne. this is the regimen she gave me (i can add in other products but 1. i don't have any atm and 2. i'm really scared HAHA) AM 1. wash face and pat dry 2. mix equal parts (pea size) of both clindimyacin and moisturizer (i use the cerave moisturizing cream) and spread over acne-prone areas (i use it everywhere) 3. sunscreen/makeup PM 1. wash face and pat dry 2. mix equal parts (pea size) of clindimyacin, tretinoin, and moisturizer and spread over acne-prone areas (i use it everywheree) if irritation occurs with the tretinoin, pause use and resume when back to normal. after the step at night, sometimes my skin is dry so i whipped out my 👏holy👏grail product: the Eucerin - Advanced Repair Lotion, Fragrance Free ! you might be wondering: why don't you just put on another layer of the CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream ? well, i find the cream isn't moisturizing enough and it sinks in wayy too fast (which sometimes a good thing)! the eucerin lotion is sooo moisturizing, it leaves a greasy film on the skin but it helps with any dryness on both my face and body. go get yourself some!! i would highly suggest going to dermatologist. i thought i had non-pustular rosacea for the longest time but i found out that if you have kp on your face (like i do on my jawline), the cheeks can get red and change with temperature. they are expensive, but she gave me a lot of guidance and now i know how to treat my skin. thank you so much for reading! cheer, comment, and follow for more skincare related content and reviews 🥺💞

Store it, See it, Use it: Organization Tips
Tips for better bathroom storage: 1. Keep only your most-used products on the counter. For me, this is cleanser, toner, moisturizer, cotton balls, tissues, and a bag of some other frequently used skincare products. 2. Ideas for your “frequently used” counter bag: Men’s deodorant (changes your life) Once a week exfoliant and cleanser One product for chapped lips Products for eczema SPF moisturizer/sunscreen New products to try soon, like a special moisturizer 3. Great in a pull out drawer with dividers: Dental products/floss Gels like neosporen or scar gel Foot products All those extra lip balms Tweezers Nail products Contact lens Combs/brushes/hair ties Feminine hygiene products 4. Have refills ready in a plastic tub under the sink. Tools can go under the sink too! 5. I’m not leaving the house or wearing makeup right now due to the pandemic, so all my makeup is stored in one train case under the sink. Comment below if you want to see what’s in the makeup case I hope this inspires you to organize your bathroom. Have a great day beauties 🥰

Stay Young Forever: Antioxidants 🍊
This is my favorite type of ingredient. If you’re looking for anti-aging, hyperpigmentation help, or even just prevention this is it! Antioxidants: You can find these in things around and even inside you. Vitamins such as A, C, and E have such a role in your life it’s crazy. Antioxidant main enemy is FREE RADICALS This free radicals are natural occurring and environment related stressors. They can be caused by the body’s metabolism or found in drugs, pesticides, cigarette smoke, and other pollutants. They over time damage cells and cause that portion of your body to not function properly. They are the most known for accelerating the aging process (mostly by diminishing collagen production). I love this chart because it lists the needs and skin types for each! Time for best moisturizer awards!
If I can only keep one skincare product with me, a moisturizer is definitely my answer with no hesitation. They are more than just an agent to lock moisture in the face, but with other potent ingredients, they are also well-rounded, lifesaving heroes. Best Priming Moisturizer--Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base This thick face balm is such a perfect moisturizing primer for normal and combination skin and has a really fresh orange smell. I have oily skin but it doesn’t make my face over-oily at all. Infused with Vitamin C &E, this moisturizer brightens and hydrates skin while providing a protective shield with shea butter. Just a small scoop and your face will be covered and moisturized with it and still be breathable. This is really my Holy Grail now; though it is not cheap, it is still worthy and I cannot live without it. Best Soothing Moisturizer--Eucerin Ultra Sensitive Cream With no alcohol added, this cream moisturizes and protects the skin from all irritants and suitable for sensitive skin. It feels thick but not greasy or hard to smooth. A large amount of glycerine and avocado butter soothe and moisturize skin when you feel uncomfy or harsh. I usually apply this after using a retinol product to keep burning to feel away. This cream just immediately destroys all burning or itchy feeling and calms everything down. Best Anti-imperfection Moisturizer--Avene TriAcneal Expert This lotion-like moisturizer contains retinaldehyde (a form of vitamin A), thermal spring water, and other patented ingredients to comprehensively relieves redness, eliminates spots, and reduces the appurtenance of blackhead and excess oiliness. With the addition of retinaldehyde, it becomes a moisturizer for a night only, and all we need in-between the cleansing and bed is this product. It is so easy to smooth on face and dries fast with a half matte half dewy finish. I really like this light moisturizer with all benefits it embraces.

Sensitive Skin Body Care
Usually if you have sensitive skin, it doesn’t just affect your face. Eczema, hives, and dry itchy skin can strike anywhere. These are my tried and true body products to keep my reactive skin hydrated and calm (plus a new buy!)~ 💟Dove - Exfoliating Body Polish Body Scrub Just used this tonight for the first time- smells fantastic (I got lavender + coconut milk) and gives a gentle but thorough scrub. My skin feels soo smooth! My body definitely needed this. So far no irritation but will keep this updated 🙏🏼 🧼Dove - Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar This bad boy eliminates a plastic bottle in my shower and is super easy to travel with. Not only does it not exacerbate eczema, but it actually helps to hydrate it! It’s also perfect for shaving as the lather is so creamy. 🪒billie - Billie Razor So many tout this as more effective than drugstore razors, but I honestly don’t find the results that different from my old Venus Embrace. That being said, the shave from my Venus Embrace was sharp as hell and Billie is about half the price, comes with a shower magnet, and the shave bar is hypoallergenic- so it’s a no brainer swap for me. 🧴Eucerin - Skin Calming Lotion for Dry, Itchy Skin This is a nice fragrance free, lightweight lotion with serious soothing power from colloidal oatmeal. I love that it’s not super thick because it lasts me longer and is a breeze to apply. Gently rubbing this into eczema or sunburns provides almost instant relief! PS~ nothing here is over $15! And the lotion is the only thing over $10!

Best moisturizer for very dry sensitive skin.
Best moisturizer for very dry sensitive skin.
Eucerin - Original Healing Cream This stuff is literally my holy grail. I accidentally had a reaction to a body wash that I didn’t realize at the time could be as harmful and drying to my skin. Salicylic acid. 🤦🏽‍♀️ So I used this every time I took a shower and before you knew it my face had dry red patches that were so so flaky! My face literally was so so so dry and was freaking out. I tried using my Sunday Riley moisturizer and that did not work. Then I just decided to go back to basics and picked this up from the pharmacy and within a week my face was all cleared up. I couldn’t even put makeup on, you could still see the patchiness through it. It was so red abs I was so so scared it wasn’t going to go away. This is a holy grail item! And it is way cheaper than my Sunday Riley cream! Win win! Eucerin - Original Healing Cream

Recently messed up the lipid barrier on my face due to a flare and subsequent reaction to a product. Even my go to gentle CeraVe moisturizer was creating a chemical burn feeling on my face! Cue my stressed out amazon purchase of three different barrier repairing eczema products and this baby is doing WONDERS. A new staple for me and honestly I recommend this for anyone out there who damages their skin trying a new product because it happens, peeps. Eucerin - Eczema Relief Flare-Up Treatment
