Do you need to upgrade your clay mask?
In my college days where budgeting is a must, I turned to drugstore classics when it came to buying skincare products. I came across the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask as a recommendation from my room mate. I wore it as a spot treatment and the best part about it was that you could even leave it on over night. I don’t know why but being able to leave something on at night seems fun and really appeals to me! I remember using it felt like a miracle. 🍾 My small little zits on my forehead went away overnight. MASK ON. Take a scoop using a face mask spatula and spread evenly all over including neck. I don’t recommend a face mask brush because it feels super thick but cool to the face. Leave on for 15-20 mins or overnight. Mask will harden and should be rinsed with warm water. 🧖‍♀️ Here’s the company’s product description: - Helps dry up acne pimples (yas tiny ones only) - Rinse away blackheads (my 3 blackheads still here) - Shrink enlarged pores (my pores still visible) - Deep cleansing (how deep is deep?) - Wrinkle reduction (I don’t have much wrinkles so i-) Highly affordable! About $9 on Amazon. 👏 Can be purchased on Amazon or CVS, Target etc. Main ingredients: kaolin and bentonite clay. Also contains glycerin, zinc oxide, and sulfur. 👩‍🔬 But downside is the green color of this mask is a pigment and it also has parabens. 🧐 Does it work?? Well, I think because it contains sulfur, it was able to diminish small pimples overnight so in a way yes...but there are better products out there that have a better ingredient list. I was surprised to see Curology suggest this same mask for clogged pores on their skin 101 guides. They claim its known to help persistent blackheads. I don’t know if I have to use it more often for my blackheads to go away. 🤷‍♀️ Try it at your own risk because from Queen Helene had me at shrink enlarged pores but at least it was only 9 bucks! If you’re on a budget, splurge 💲 and buy better things and you’ll thank yourself in the end. Overall, I wouldn’t repurchase this product since I know I have better options. 🙅‍♀️

Newbie Skincare Routine! Any advice?
So, i've recently had an awakening when i realized that i was slowly (yet, quickly) approaching my 30s (turning 27 in October). Figured, now is a good time to start taking care of my skin and tbh, just had my two kids and it'll feel nice to pamper myself now. I've started dipping my toes into the skincare world quite recently and have done so by watching Skincare by Hyram, Susan Yara, and reading up on all sorts of skincare junkie pages. So far, i've learned the basics and am attempting to incorporate more "serious" products (serums and treatments) into my skincare routine (which was just cleanser, toner, vit c, moisturizer, spf and the ocassional mask). First thing's first: i have oily combo skin. Not acne prone, just the ocassional pimple now and then. I also live in Ontario and have kids under two and workout 3x/week. So that pretty much tells you my state and environment. So i've pretty much laid the whole routine out out in my chart (hehe sorry, i love charts). I had to do it since it was so intimidating to begin with specialized products. I haven't used the REN or Laneige masks, or the TO retinol yet, but am going to this week. Been using the Thayer's tone, SPF and complex 15 for about 3 months now and they've been fine. Everything else has been used twice. I don't cleanse in the morning. Just the thayer's toner and the rest. My issues are probably an oily Tzone, larger pores and uneven skintone. I'd love any tips, advice or Feedback! Thx!

ok this is basically just a ~shout out~ to cosDNA.com AND to my curology provider. if you go on curology’s website, they talk about this a lot, but basically cosDNA.com is a website where you can enter in the product name of almost A N Y cosmetic product (makeup, skincare, even body wash) and it pulls up a list for you. you select the right one (aka the product you are specifically searching for) and it tells you if theres any harmful ingredients in the product you searched. honestly, it’s crazy because you could be wondering “why isn’t this product working for me?!” when it claims it removes blackheads or gets rid of redness and acne scarring or WHATEVER it claims it does. and then you go search it on the website and you see that it has a 7 for some ingredient in the acne or irritant column. anyways, it’s really easy to use, super self-explanatory! personally, i would use this website to research or AT LEAST check a new product before buying. or you can check the products you’re currently using and if they’re bad, you can use it to research new products! i’m also including pictures of my research based on a message my curology provider sent. i told her that i felt like i wasn’t seeing much progress, but she told me she ~did~ see progress but she also gave me a bunch of recommendations. (i’ve checked all of these on cosDNA fyi) the first are gentle cleansers that won’t clog pores, cause acne, cause redness/irritation, etc. the second is products to help with sebaceous filaments (which are v often confused with blackheads). she specifically recommended the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque, Oily and Acne Prone Skin(the rest are just ones i found). and then the last page is different sulfur soaps to help with overall acne. i tagged the products that i ordered in the pics! i’ll let y’all know if i like them or not after i receive them and use them! products i ordered: VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque, Oily and Acne Prone Skin THE GRANDPA SOAP CO. - Face & Body Bar Soap Thylox Acne Treatment FORMULA 10.0.6 - Thirst No More Moisturizer

My daily skincare routine!
My favorite aspect of hygiene is skincare. I’ve become a bit obsessed with it for over the last year because I’m still trying to learn what works for me and what doesn’t. I am a teenager with skin that is sometimes dry combination and sometimes oily combination and while I don’t get acne that often, when I do I’m usually left with acne scars, whether I pop my pimple or not 🙃 So here’s my ratings on my skincare routine!!! Am routine; I start by oil cleansing my face with organic coconut oil, which is what is in the orange pill bottle (gotta reuse where you can LMAO) I then use Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser which I really enjoy because it doesn’t strip my face and make it feel tight or anything (it’s also fun to use because yk...it’s foam 😭) after cleansing I use Queen Helene - 100% Cocoa Butter, Stick because I’ve been using it to treat the tricky dark spots I’ve accumulated from acne and I’ve been using it ever since I became a teenager I then use the e.l.f. - Daily Hydration Moisturizer because it is lightweight but really moisturizing and it doesn’t make me look incredibly shiny finally I use Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF30 I use the spf 85+ one because it’s summer and almost days I am outside for some reason or another. Spf in the black community is sometimes seen as silly when it’s applied everyday (my mom thinks I’m crazy for using it on a daily basis) but I know that it’s good for you and it’s helped with my dark spots Pm routine; I start off with my organic coconut oil again because most days I have on at least mascara so I need to get my makeup off I then use Aveeno - CLEAR COMPLEXION Cream Face Cleanser With Salicylic Acid and I like it a good amount although I thought I’d see bigger results but I’m sure I have to just keep using it. I’m not the biggest fan of salicylic acid and for a really long time I avoided it because it can be so drying but since it’s summer my skin gets really oily and my little light cleansers can’t stand on their own to battle my oil and acne. I’ve had a pretty good experience with this cleanser though, it isn’t drying at all and it’s really refreshing, I just took off a star because I want to get to use it more to see how it works for me on regular nights that aren’t exfoliation nights I use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and on exfoliation nights (Sunday’s and Wednesday’s ofc) I use The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution (which is in the rad dispenser bottle with the blue top). I enjoy both of the products and I can really see the difference when I don’t exfoliate with the glycolic acid vs when I do. after treating my skin I go in with my coco butter again finally I use THE inkey LIST - Vitamin B, C, and E Moisturizer

I’ve been using this product for a year at this point. My absolute favorite. I love the gritty sand like texture that exfoliates amazing. I always recommend it to oily skin eventhough im more normal to dry skin i use it once a week and love the way my skin feels afterwards. Plus if you suffer from acne it helps to clear it up Love the mint fragrance It is cheap and has great results Queen Helene - Scrub, Oily and Acne Prone Skin Mint Julep

MASK UPDATE
MASK UPDATE
Now that I’ve used this product multiple times, I feel like I can give a better review on it. So again it feels very cool and minty. There’s a little tingling once you get towards the end of the 10 minutes, but not super painful of course. It’s not the easiest to wash off, but the results make it worth it. I bought this mask to get rid of sebaceous filaments (commonly mistaken for blackheads) and let me tell you... this stuff REALLY works!!! After only about 2 or 3 uses, I could see a difference! I had so many sebaceous filaments all on my nose and chin. I’d spend hours squeezing each one to try to get rid of them, but this mask basically did all that work for me! I’m telling you guys, if you have a lot of blackhead looking things on your face, definitely buy this mask! It is like magic! Of course my pimples and stuff haven’t gone away completely, but my nose and chin are looking a lot better! I definitely 100% recommend this product!!!

A great mask for mommy and daughter
A great mask for mommy and daughter
My daughter and I used this mask for our mommy-daughter pampering day. She had a lot of fun applying the mask to my face and getting her own mask treatment. The product feels cool on the skin and leaves your skin feeling refreshed. It helps to remove impurities from the skin. I recommend this mask and I use it once every other week.

SKIN PROGRESS *ignore the ugly lol*
SKIN PROGRESS *ignore the ugly lol*
so this is my most recent curology update photo. i think my skin is doing really well! i still 100% recommend curology. like my face has never looked better. first off, my provider actually updated my formula from 2% azelaic acid to 8%. i definitely felt this, the formula has more of a burning sensation now, which i feel like means it’s working idk. I’ve been using the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque like 2-3 times a week and it is AMAZING. i actually saw progress the SECOND time I used it. it got rid of most of the sebaceous filaments (blackhead looking things) on my nose and chin!!! this product is a must! i LOVE my new VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser it literally is so soft and soapy. you can tell it’s for sensitive skin. i feel like there’s absolutely no bad ingredients in it. it’s probably THE best cleanser I’ve ever used fr. anyways my skin is clearing up nicely besides a few pimples here and there. ive been drinking more water as well which is helping. will keep y’all posted!
