I have an issue with this toner
When I first purchased this toner, I really loved it. Right off the bat, the milky texture felt hydrating and nourishing. But, as I have grown more familiar with the product, I have realized that is not quite the case. First, I have very sensitive and reactionary skin. Sometimes it feels like I’ll break out in a rash if the wind just happens to blow in the wrong direction. This likely explains the issue that I have but I am nevertheless disappointed. Due to my sensitivity level, I introduce actives VERY slowly and cautiously. It has taken me about a year and a half to work my way up to using the CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum every other day. It has also taken me about 6 months to work up to using the By Wishtrend - Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water once or twice a week (on nights that I don’t use the CeraVe). After emptying this product, I realize that this was part of the problem!! For weeks now, I have experienced a moderate to strong tingling sensation when applying the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid and even experienced a similar (but not as strong) sensation with THE inkey LIST - Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Gentle Exfoliating Toner which is apparently about as gentle as you can get with chemical exfoliants. I assumed that this was just part of the process for me as I was experimenting with chemical exfoliants for the first time. I hadn’t used either product independently of the FAB toner and since it says “safe for sensitive skin” I never once thought it could be prepping my skin for a stronger reaction. That, however, is what appears to have been happening. When I ran out of the toner, the reactions to the Wishtrend Mandelic acid immediately dissipated. While I still feel a slight tingle for a few seconds, it is only a fraction of the sensation I used to feel. I find this to be incredibly frustrating because I do enjoy other products from FAB (I love the cleanser). My issue is this, FAB’s entire brand seems focused on caring for the health of your skin. Hell, the name is FIRST AID Beauty!! If you are going to sell products that are marketed as “safe for sensitive skin” they should truly be safe for sensitive skin!! I realize that anyone can develop or have a reaction to anything so it is not entirely their fault. Everyone has to test every product for themselves. It is frustrating, though. Anyways, I’ll wrap up my rant now. Thanks for stopping by and congrats if you made it this far!!

New and Improved Winter Routine
After a lot of trial and error, I think I’ve found a routine that works for me (at least for the time being). I am aware of the PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+controversy BUT I work from home and often don’t run errands until the evening when the sun has already set so I don’t mind continuing to use the product as a moisturizer and for light protection from the minimal rays that come in through my windows. When I do go out during the day, I layer with a second sunscreen. I really love the Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser but have been feeling slightly stripped lately after using it and since I was already running out of the Krave, I figured I’d try something new. I purchased the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser on somewhat of a whim at Sephora the other day. I have noticed that the creamier texture of the FAB cleanser works very well for my skin (at least during the winter months when I get incredibly dry) but kind of feel like the pearlescent look of it is a little gimmicky. I will likely alternate between the 2 cleansers depending on the time of year and how my skin is feeling. I alternate actives every night. My skin is extremely reactive and prone to irritation so I have to take things very slowly when introducing a new active to my routine. For now, I use the CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum on night 1, the By Wishtrend - Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water on night 2, the DIFFERIN - 0.1% Adapalene Acne Treatment Gel Pump on night 3 and no active on night 4 before restarting the routine. I find that the night off really gives my skin a break. I’ve been using Differin for a while but have been a little disappointed in it lately so thought that it might be time to introduce a different retinol product and LOVE the CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum so far. I started with once a week and did notice a little irritation the first few times I used it but that was expected. I think every 4th night is a good place that I can build on if I continue to see better results. I want to incorporate The Inkey List’s Q-10 serum because I have used it in the past and really liked it. I’m not sure where I could include it for the best results and least irritation. I really want to keep at least one night a week where I only use FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Wild Oat Hydrating Toner and Aveeno - Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer after cleansing but am hesitant to layer products. Any suggestions? THIS MOISTURIZER!!! I was skeptical when I first saw this new line from Aveeno because I sometimes find that their products don’t perform as well as I expect. Their lotions often feel like they just sit on top of my skin instead of soaking in but Dr. Dray convinced me and I will be sticking with this one!

The Best K-Beauty In My Collection!
With online shopping becoming the norm, I’ve enjoyed getting to try more and more products from Korea! I don’t use products that contains added fragrance, flavor, aroma, a large amount of denatured alcohol, or essential oils, so my pool of options wasn’t particularly wide, but I’ve finally found some k-beauty options that not only avoid my list of skin triggers, but also are good enough that I’ve either already repurchased or plan to soon! My Skin: Combo, Sensitive, Acneprone. Prices, USD: • By Wishtrend - Polyphenols in Propolis 15% Ampoule : $32 per 30mL, or $1.07 per mL • PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block : $18.90 per 60mL, or $0.32 per mL • andLAB - Niacinamide 2% + B5 Hydrating Face Mask $30 USD for 5 sheet masks, or $6 per mask. Scent/Texture: • ByWishtrend Ampoule: Faintly sweet scent. A viscous but liquid serum that spreads easily. • Purito Comfy Water: Smells like most mineral sunscreen, but the scent fades quickly. A thick but fluffy lotion that spreads easily and soaks into skin quickly. • andLab Face Mask: No detectable scent. A thin gel sheet is heavily saturated in a thick serum that takes a few minutes to soak in. Notable Ingredients: • ByWishtrend Ampoule: Heart Leaf Extract (polyphenols), Propolis Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate. • Purito Comfy Water: Zinc Oxide, Niacinamide, Centella. • andLab Face Mask: 2% Niacinamide, multiple sizes of Hyaluronic Acid, Fermented Soybean Extract. ~Overall~ • ByWishtrend Ampoule: Applied 3-4 times per week with my tretinoin, PM. I will be repurchasing this! It soaks in quickly, leaving my skin so calm and hydrated. I love that the ingredients and extracts focus on creating a serum that is not only anti-oxidant, but also anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. This can help immensely with acne! I love that it focuses on making skin calm and happy, not exfoliating or plumping or whatever is the latest trend. • Purito Comfy Water: The perfect post-workout mineral sunscreen, and an amazing try for those with oily skin! At a cheap price that regularly dips down to $15 on Amazon, this is gonna be a repurchase during summertime. It’s hydrating without causing shininess and reapplies well. Word of caution- it pills when applied over silicone containing products! • andLab Face Mask: It’s nigh impossible to find fragrance- and alcohol-free sheet masks, but these are amazing! They’re are the only sheet mask I use at the moment and they are every bit worth the $6 to me. They’re the most hydrating product I own, always leaving my skin plump and dewy af, plus they’re incredibly soothing thanks to the niacinamide and plant extracts. The most perfect and best k-beauty sheet mask! (My first pack was gifted but I’ve already bought three more packs) #CheriePartner

My Latest Favourites!
I have sensitive combo skin and a love of skincare that surpasses the amount of skin I have- I love trying new products! I’ve been testing some newer serums, typically applied thinnest to thickest after I cleanse and before a moisturizer. Here are my current favourites: • *HOLI FROG - Galilee Antioxidant Dewy Drop is amazing for general hydration, though I love to see the antimicrobial/anti-inflammatory Azelaic Acid in it! A slew of antioxidants like CoQ10, azelaic acid, alpha-lipoic acid, honeysuckle flower extract, green tea leaf extract, and vitamin E make this a powerhouse for fighting environmental aggressors that agitate/age skin! But $52 USD is steep for 30mL, so I’m not sure this is “worth the money” for most folks. • NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2% is fantastic and I recommend it to those that struggle with dehydration or want an extra boost of hydration with autumn/winter coming along! It’s incredibly lightweight, perfect for patting onto damp skin post-cleanse and before other serums. $16 USD for 170mL is perfect, making this humectant-packed serum 100% worth it imo. • NATURIUM - Alpha Arbutin Serum 2% costs $20 USD for 30mL and I can’t recommend it enough for those that suffer from uneven skin tone, melasma, and/or hyperpigmentation! Alpha arbutin is molecularly similar to hydroquinone and works similarly, interrupting melanin synthesis to lighten dark spots and even skin tone. Naturium formulates it alongside niacinamide (great for soothing skin) and a variety of humectants. I love alpha arbutin for fading my dark spots. • Apostrophe - 0.05% Tretinoin + 4% Niacinamide Lotion | ★★★★★ is formulated around the gold-star ingredient for anti-aging: prescription retinoid! They include some simple emollients to create a spreadable lotion, as well as niacinamide, a wonderfully multifaceted ingredient that helps with acne, skin tone, and oil production. This silky serum-lotion is amazing- little to no irritation as my skin adjusted to tret, reduction in acne (before COVID maskne and stress hit), and a noticeable smoothing of the few fine lines that had been growing on my forehead and around my mouth. It costs $90 to fill my prescription but the tube has lasted me since June 1st (using it three times per week) and while it’s feeling very light, it’s still pumping out product. Apostrophe cites the bottle as lasting about 3 months with nightly use, making the cost for their recommended use $30 per month- not bad for zero insurance prescription retinoid access! • *By Wishtrend - Polyphenols in Propolis 15% Ampoule is an interesting serum that targets inflammation, irritation, and dehydration. Polyphenols and the variety of extracts included help to minimize redness as well as lessen the intensity of inflammatory acne. $32 USD for 30mL makes this a small splurge but I think it could benefit those with sensitive and/or dry skin. *gifted #CheriePartner

So this mini comparison has been a long time coming. Pictured here are the current Vitamin C serums I have tried. There have been others but these are the current ones, and the ones that seem to fit into this comparison. My skin type is combination. Slightly sensitive at times but can handle most. Main concern is pigmentation. First is the famous drunkelephant C-Firma. I first tried this a when meccamaxima first came to NZ. Its star ingredients 15% L-absorbic Acid, Ferulic Acid and Pumpkin Ferment. Has a host other good ingredients (please slide through pics). I have really enjoyed using this but I saw some brightening but not much fading of pigmentation which is what I hope for. It’s a great serum with great antioxidants but the price point always got me searching for other on the market. Retails $138NZD I then found the wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced serum. Having a high percentage of 21.5% in a base of Sea Buckthorn Water. This one was a bit to strong for me, I kept in the fridge to keep it stable as I couldn’t use it all the time. I would dilute it with other serums to make it work. Not quite right for me at the time but might explore again at a later date. $42NZD. Next bottle is the klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. I wasn’t sure why I originally got this 5% L-Asorbic Acid, so low was it going to do anything????!!!. This gem came in handy when I over exfoliate or when I get a Retinol rash!!! I found a new love for this serum, I don’t like skipping on the Vit c but sometimes my skin has been sensitised so this gem comes in!! Does have some essential oils in it but doesn’t have a fragrance. Soooooo I have saved the best (imo) for last.  maelove Glow Maker Serum. I started doing some research and this serum fit my requirements. Has 15% L-Asorbic acid and Ferulic Acid. Plus Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid. So I have been using this serum for about 5 weeks and absolutely love it!! Really light consistency sinks in after about 2 minutes, I use a generous amount and use on the back of my hands and décolletage. I don’t plan on using past 3 months because of oxidation.

Cleanser for Acne Prone skin!!!
This one another one of the Korean products that I used whatcha is a water base cleanser, and it has all these ingredients that are good for acne prone skin such as Capryloyl Salicilic Acid that you should always incorporate in your routine and products along with some other acids. This is a mild acid cleanser with will bring a bit of exfoliation while cleansing your face. Afterwards I also feel my skin dryer only my dry areas, but overall their formula is meant for not to dry your skin as other cleansers do. Again we all have different types of skins and not everyone reacts the same to these products. I hope this helps ✌🏼

skin update
* the images above were taken with flash i used to be really self conscious about my skin, but over time i’ve learned to deal with it. overall my skin has improved since my teens (unfortunately any pictures of my skin during my teens are either deleted, nonexistent, or severely edited) but sometimes i feel like getting the 100% clear skin that i want is impossible. i decided to share these images because 1. i haven’t posted in quite awhile (school, sorry!) 2. i experienced a painful under the skin pimple for the first time around my nose yesterday (which frustrates me because i know it’s due to the excess sebum my skin has been producing lately and idk why it’s producing so much 🙃 maybe the humidity?) 3. i feel more comfortable in this environment since i know that there are others facing the same frustrations as i am so i wanted to remind everyone that you’re not alone ✨ during quarantine i’ve been using the bare minimum (along with my prescription meds) because i felt that my skin was overwhelmed: By Wishtrend - Acid-Due 2 Mild Gel Cleanser⁣alternating with: PanOxyl - Acne Creamy Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 4% Daily Control COSRX - Oil-Free Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion in short, i feel like this routine is almost too simplistic to target all my skin concerns. at this point, my skin is ready to be slowly introduced to new products. i’m currently drafting a new skin care routine for myself that targets hyperpigmentation and oil balance. i haven’t made any final decisions but i might be purchasing these products to use in conjunction with my prescribed spironolactone and tretinoin cream: acne.org - Acne.org Cleanser- i just needed a basic cleanser with nothing special about it so that all the work can be done by the products i layer after facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10- to target excess sebum production, acne, and hyperpigmentation elta md SKINCARE - AM Therapy Facial Moisturizer- i’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand and by the looks of it this moisturizer will be suitable for AM and PM use. the formulation also looks simple to me, which is a bonus because i’m aiming for a routine that causes minimal irritation so i can be consistent + some bipoc owned skincare brands! i’m always open to opinions and suggestions. has your skin fluctuated a lot during quarantine as well?

K beauty favorite
One of my favorite K beauty products in my lineup kindly sent to me by @cupidrop.official and @bywishtrendBy Wishtrend - Teca 1% Barrier Cream . This beautiful barrier cream is gentle but powerful in fading PIH and scarring. It is actually my first experience using Centella Asiatica (in this pure form called TECA): it’s claim to fame is cell regeneration and stimulating collagen production, both vital to repairing scarred skin. It’s lightweight, non greasy, and wears well under makeup! I will have to use longer to see the long term effects of fading marks but my skin reacts well to this cream and the ingredients are gentle but effective!

some stuff i’ve been testing & loving these past few weeks!  the skin house official is an HG! my goodness, it’s the best sunscreen i’ve tried this year! it is a creamy white that glides on smoothly. takes a minute or two to blend. doesn’t pile, smell amazing! finish is semi matte but skin’s still healthy & glowy. if that isn’t a win i dont know what is! the only sunscreen that helps control my sebum through out the day! . klairs fundamental ampule mist gives me a dewy skin, everyday, all day! its an antioxidant mist formulated with greentea, rice, okra, mugwort & cucumber extracts. it has the signature klairs scent (fresh & clean💧) i use it day & night as an inbetween mist (after toner, after serum, before cream) it is hydrating, calming. dry patches? tired looking skin? i don’t know her 💁🏻‍♀️ bywishtrend teca 1% barrier cream is a spot treatment cream that cares for my dry patches, textures caused by over exfoliation, even popped zits. it helps heal my skin after a major break outs & great in diminishing tiny white spots from product irritation. it doesn’t do much on cystic acne but works well on fresh scars. main ingredients such as cica extract & allantoin that works well in restoring damaged skin & strengthen skin barrier. it is a clear transparent thick gel (like ointment/petroleum). . neogen serum in oil drop is a combination of hydrating oil & moisturizing ampule from fermented white truffle extract. it also contains niacinamide, adenoside, citric acid plus peptides! it is also good in repairing skin barrier & bringing back the loss radiance of skin. its lightweight, absorbs fast, hardly have a scent in it. i love it on days i dont feel like layering much products. it acts as an essence, serum/ampoule & oil. missha superfood lip oil in honey first lip oil ever and will get more variant! scent, texture, feel is like honey! can be used before lippies or after! 🍯 .

Amazing Vit C serum!!!
Amazing Vit C serum!!!
This serum contains 15% pure Vitamin C which is a potent antioxidant that helps with uneven skin tone, sun damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and aging. To backup this star ingredient this serum has been added with Ferulic Acid which is a plant based antioxidant primarily used for anti aging. It tends to work really well with other antioxidants esp Vit C. We all know that Vit C is not very stable on its own. It oxidizes very quickly esp when exposed to sunlight. That’s why Vit C usually come in opaque or amber colored bottles. Ferulic acid is said to help stabilize Vit C and also has the potential to increase photo protection by twice when combined with it. ⁣ ⁣ I have been using this serum for quite sometime and love it. It has a watery consistency and is colorless. Smells exactly like how a Vit C does. It quickly gets absorbed by the skin and does not leave any residue. My skin feels much brighter and smooth. I am yet to see the big difference of Ferulic Acid with continued use. I have a lot expectation from this serum. #wishtrendstory #wishtrend #ferulicserum #spotlightdrop #cbrighterskin #zestupserum #bywishtrend #08liter #08L

By Wishtrend Acid-Due 2 Mild Gel Cleanser⁣ ⁣ The Acid Duo Mild Gel Cleanser is a gentle cleanser containing Capryloyl Salicylic Acid LHA and Gluconolactone (PHA) that cleanse the skin from dead skin cells and impurities. This low-pH acid cleanser helps decongest, exfoliate and clear out impurities from the skin. This cleanser is fast becoming a staple in my weekly routine (I only use twice a week). I had to make sure I wasn’t overusing acids (think retinol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C, etc.) as doing so can compromise the all-important skin barrier and cause our normally happy skin to become irritated and break out. I have a tendency to break out around nostrils and jawline because I rub it⁣.

I’d rather get coal than get the Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water. Honestly I’ve only tried it for a week before I found that it was breaking me out and giving me rashes. This is supposed to be an exfoliating toner that gentle removes any dead skin cells and help promote skin renewal. It also claims to smooth rough texture. Skincare is super personal so what may work for me may not work for others and vice versa. Unfortunately it did not work out for me since the most gentle exfoliating acid ended up being the most irritating for me. The toner is a watery toner that you can place on a cotton round to swipe all over the face. I know a lot of my other friends enjoy it but unfortunately it did not work out for me. I recommend trying it since it’s inexpensive for about $22 and others have noted that it’s pretty effective in terms of clearing up any clogged up skin cells. Overall, my personal rating is 1/5 stars because of the irritation.

Texture - Like water Scent - Acidy Parabens - No This might have become my holy grail just from a few uses. I still need time to test it out a little longer but the texture of my skin has improved majorly. I used this to get rid of small bumps on e.g my forehead and I was really skeptic to be honest, but it truly worked! The bumps have now diminished and become less visible. I’m so happy with this product. It’s not harsh on the skin at all and it was actually recommended by a friend with sensitive skin skincare_sei. Thank you so much, Sei, this has done so good on my skin! I put it on with a cotton pad and swipe it on after double cleansing. It can sting a little on scars but not at all else. I really recommend this to improve skin texture! Also, could not decide between pictures so here you have two! Purchased at wishtrend
