The Benefits of Rice Water
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ I didn’t want to let the week go by without a natural post so I thought I’d talk about rice water. 😉 Rice water has been used in Asian beauty rituals for centuries. It’s said to be the secret behind their clear, glowing complexion. The skin brightening enzymes in rice water make it a key ingredient for Japanese and Korean skin care rituals. Health line say, Rice 🌾 water contains substances known to help protect and repair your skin. About 16% of its composition consists of proteins, the building blocks of skin cells. It’s enriched with triglycerides, lipids and starch, which are all responsible for enhancing skin health. Carbohydrates, inositol, phytic acid and inorganic substances make up the rest of the composition, making rice water an ideal DIY ingredient for achieving glowing skin. ☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Some people swear by the skin lightening powers of rice water. The chemicals in it are known to lighten pigment although how light isn’t known 🧐 🧚‍♀️ It’s said to soothe and tone skin. Studies found rice starch can be beneficial in repairing and maintaining the natural barrier of the skin. This can be helpful to prepare your skin to fight external aggressors and prevent issues like atopic dermatitis 🧚‍♀️ The chemicals contained in rice have been shown to help protect the skin against the sun’s rays and is an effective sunscreen when combined with other plant extracts Be Beautiful had an Article on fermented rice water. Fermented rice water is a more potent form of treatment that has added benefits of smoothening and conditioning. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 How to make fermented rice water 💦 Rinse rice properly with water first. Place rice into a glass bowl filled with water and soak for two days. This will trigger the natural fermentation process of rice. After two days, strain the rice and store it in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. The Shelf life is 7 days. When using fermented rice water, dilute a couple of tablespoons with normal water and apply with a cotton ball or pad. Leave it on for a half-hour and then wash as usual. You can also add aloe Vera 🌱 to rice 🍚 water and use as an overnight mask if you need extra hydration. ⚠️ Commercially packaged rice is treated with pesticides and can have dirt and bacteria accumulated from the production and packaging process. It’s is important to clean your batch of rice thoroughly before using its water for beauty purposes. I’m trialling REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Overnight Glow Dark Spot Sleeping Creambut once I’ve finished I’ll be replacing my acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner with fermented rice water to see if it helps smooth my rough texture, minimise pores, and brighten my complexion ☺️ I’ll post an update next week on if this homemade recipe works. Do you use rice water in products like SKll or Tatcha? I’d love to hear from you. ☺️ Have a wonderful day or evening Jade

5 Ways Snow Damages Your Skin
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ I realised it may be summer here in Australia but it’s cold 🥶 in the Northern Hemisphere and the issues of winter can be extremely bad for your skin. Some issues include: 🧚‍♀️ Transdermal Water loss Transepidermal water loss or TEWL refers to the skin's deprivation of water due to arid winter conditions. The drier the skin is genetically, or if you have a skin disorder, the more dramatic the symptoms. For especially dry areas, smooth on a petroleum based ointment like LUCAS' PAPAW REMEDIES - Lucas' Papaw Ointment Lip Balm it’s my go to lip balm 💋 🧚‍♀️ Icy Wind A major contributor to TEWL is the icy wind. The icy gales can aggravate skin and pull any moisture from your skin. I like to hydrate well in Winter ❄️ I noticed having just come out of the colder months here in Oz, I was using two moisturisers a day in Winter. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer and Auqest 5 Second Wrinkle Cream. I’ve trimmed down my day routine and currently use CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream☺️ 🧚‍♀️ Sun Exposure on an Icy Day The sun doesn't necessarily stop shining simply because snow is falling. Never skip sunscreen, snow reflects up to 80% of UV light so your hit twice by the same rays. 😱 I use BANANA BOAT - Ultra Sport Sunscreen lotion broad spectrum, SPF 50 I’ve been looking for a new product but I’ll use what I have before trialling a few recommendations from other beauty’s. The higher your SPF the better. 🤗 🧚‍♀️Extreme temperature shifts Very cold weather and icy wind gusts combined with lack of humidity, forced heat, hot baths and going outside for any length of time can accumulate to TEWL. Skin doesn't respond well to extreme temperatures, especially when exposed to both heat and cold in a short period of time. During winter make sure you wash with tepid or lukewarm water and use a cleanser designed for sensitive skin. I have mature combination skin and use acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner Exposing your skin to hot water can aggravate cold skin. 🧚‍♀️Lack of humidity The base level of humidity is a significant factor in maintaining hydrated skin. The drop in humidity in winter and the over heating of rooms can seriously dry out your skin. I’d suggest getting a humidifier in winter and why not drop a few drops of your favourite essential oil. 😉 Also hydrate well and ensure your products have ingredients like ceramides and emollients that keep skin from losing its moisture on cold dry days. 😁 I’ve realised writing this post that I’ve stripped down my skincare routine significantly as it’s gotten warmer. But I’m lucky that my fundamental products can be used during both seasons. What products do you use through the winter and summer months. Drop a comment below. 😉 Have a wonderful evening! Updated skin progress!
Hi all :) If you’ve been following me, you know I started a brand new routine (all K-Beauty products) at the beginning of December after suffering a horrible reaction from my previous routine that included painful cystic breakouts, chemical burns, etc. as seen on the side of my cheek. That has stayed put since about mid November 😬 I am slowly but surely getting to the point where they are starting to fade. I still have days where that area gets inflamed, whether that’s from the friction of wearing my mask for a full day, sleeping on my side, or even enduring a recent cat scratch straight to the face and through my already painful acne. Anyways, it has been about a full month of this new routine, so I thought i’d write my thoughts on these products! My overall goal with my skin is to firstly, get rid of the acne scarring on the side of my cheek, but also to achieve “dewy” skin. I also have massive pores that have always been hard to reduce, but as I’ve learned recently, a lot of that is simply natural and I’m just going to have to learn to accept that 😌 ✨PRODUCT REVIEW✨ 1. Hanskin - Pore Cleansing Oil PHA Being my first Oil cleanser, I guess it’s hard to compare to any other product, however, I have fallen in LOVE with it! It’s perfect for my clogged pores and the way it melts into my skin feels so luxurious and prepares my skin so well for my foaming cleanser + the rest of my routine! *I use this in BOTH the AM and PM, but in the AM i only use it on my nose, where I am the most oily in the morning. 2. acwell - No 5.5 Ph Balancing Micro Cleansing Foam This is a super gentle cleanser that foams up so nice and quickly and always gets the remaining gunk off my face after the oil cleanser! My face never feels too dry or tight after, either! Which is a major win for me as all my psst cleansers have done so. *I use in both the AM and PM! 3. d’Alba Peptide No-Sebum Balancing Toner (not listed on Cherie) I always swear by a toner, although many disagree. But I feel if you have a toner set for a specific purpose, such as reducing sebum and unclogging pores, then there’s no harm in using one in moderation! I have seen an such amazing difference in my pores with this toner. Although I still have large pores that can’t be helped, this definitely aids in reducing them temporarily and unclogging! 4. - AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum This serum has been a lifesaver for helping with the dryness of my skin, as well as healing my dark spots. I used to get a new pimple maybe like every other day or so, but since using this product, I’ve not experienced a new breakout besides one pesky chin pimple from being on my period, which I’m used to 🙄 *Use 3 times a week only in the PM 5. On the Bright Side Moisturizer by Good Skin Days (not listed on Cherie) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the only product i will NOT be repurchasing. Although I haven’t experienced any negatives, it just doesn’t hydrate well:(

A routine that FINALLY works for me!
Since the beginning of quarantine, I’ve gotten WAY into skincare, maybe a little too much... I’ve definitely experienced ups and downs with my routine, low bank balances, and the overall stress of trying to balance the millions of options and recommendations given for serums, cleansers, toners, ETC. Through many trial and errors, I think I finally found my true routine, thanks to Sokoglam, a K-Beauty skincare company. They offer a free “skin concierge” session in real time with a skincare specialist, where you can ask about your skin concerns and receive great recommendations for products, and overall a personalized skincare routine that fits YOU! That all sounds cheesy and sponsored but I promise it’s not😂 That’s just how impressed I am with the company! For so long I just watched youtubers suggest products to me and I scrolled endlessly on Cherie looking for products that I thought would suit me. A biiiig brand I saw/and was recommended CONSTANTY was The Ordinary serums... Long story short, tried it, hated it. Plain and simple. The few serums I used from them caused nothing but turmoil for my skin that I’m still trying to fix including breakouts, CYSTIC acne, chemical burns, etc.. I am pretty sure there was just something my sensitive skin was allergic to in order for all of that to have happened, but still, simply just not for me. To be fair, if it weren’t for those products, I would have never gone out of my way to seek a new routine, sooooo? Thanks I guess lol. Anyways, here is my road to recovery! I have been documenting my skin’s journey and I can already see such dramatic effects in texture, hydration, reduction of oiliness AND the beginnings of healing for my more intense acne that left scars! I won’t go into detail on each product quiet yet, as it is still a new routine taking its course, however, I think the biggest component to the already huge changes has to definitely be the Hanskin - Pore Cleansing Oil PHA !!!! As a combo/oily skin type who rarely wears makeup, I NEVER would have thought I’d need this product because like... More oil??! But I was sooooo mislead!!! My pores have never been cleaner/smaller after using this, because after all, oil gets rid of oil! For so long I was always so frustrated with how bad of a job my water based cleansers were doing, never truly cleaning my horribly clogged pores! I guess I just forgot basic chemistry knowledge that water alone cannot get rid of oil! Plain and simple! I’m sure most people know that, but I guess my quarantine brain didn’t make that connection, but also when it comes to skincare, I guess I never truly thought of those things in the past! I will keep updating my journey as I go, but enjoy for now!

acwell Toner Mist — Toner for Sensitive Skin
Function: This toner is meant to balance skin pH levels. It is targeted towards those with sensitive skin. It helps calm irritated skin and help the skin retain moisture. It claims to brighten, reduce pigmentation and lessen the appearance of acne scars. Consistency: I’ve tried many must toners before, but this one is hands-down the finest mist I’ve used. It goes on so lightly and feels really calming on contact. Thoughts: A really pleasant mist. As the temperature has gone down, I’ve needed to use more hydrating toners than this one, but this was perfect in the summer. If I got too much sun, this helped to reduce the redness on my face and aided in repairing my moisture barrier. It contains some amazing ingredients like licorice root and centella asiatica without any added fragrance, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. I’d definitely recommend it to any of my friends with sensitive, dry skin! 5/5 Price: $24acwell - Licorice pH Balancing Essence Mist

It’s more Acwell today, y’all! 👍🏾 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Got this full size of their Licorice pH Balancing Essence Mist Soko Glam Gym Set and I love it even more than the toner. 😍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m a sucker for mists. They’re convenient, quick, and prep the skin perfectly for other products. This one is no exception. 💯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s hydrating without being sticky. It helps wake your skin up if you’re looking tired & is soothing if your skin is feeling irritated. ✔️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There’s no fragrance which is a bonus for those with sensitivities. Plus, I love that you can use it 3 ways: an essence, a refresher mist, or to set your makeup. 🙌🏾

Here’s a mini that I became a fan of after originally disliking it. 👍🏾 Acwell’s Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner is pretty popular so when I got this mini in a set from Soko Glam, I was excited to try it. 😊 Honestly, at the time, I wasn’t really paying attention to pH nor always conscious about if certain products should be layered together or not. 🤷🏾‍♀️ The mistake I was making with this toner was the cleanser I was using. It was too harsh for my skin in the first place, which is why it’s been replaced, but it also caused this toner to sting a bit when it was applied. 👎🏾 But now that I’ve made significant changes to my routine, this toner is working as intended & no longer irritates my skin. 🙌🏾

My Skincare
Double cleanse: I use the first two oils base cleansers to removed any makeup or sunscreen left over. Next, I go in with a water based cleanser which is the Acewell! To be honest, I don’t really know how I feel about this cleanser. Toner: After cleansing, I follow with toner Miracle Toner with a cotton pad and tap my face with my hands also. Moisturizer/ Sunscreen: Finally I follow with the Madecassoside Cream and the UV sunscreen. ⭐️ If any of you have try these products, please let me know what you think and What exfoliate or scrub can you folks recommend ?⭐️
